[Merchandise]: This is probably one of the very few Japanese specialty gift shops in San Diego with a small section on Japanese stationery. Other items include tableware (plates, bowls, ceramic, and porcelain pieces), drinkware (mugs, glasses, teacups, and teapots), vases, plants, terrariums, and other cute Japanese trinkets / decor. The most adorable Japanese trinket and homeware shop! Unfortunately, they don't allow pictures inside, so you're just going to have to trust me on this one. Located in Downtown, it can be a bit of a pain to get to with all the parking and such, but it's totally worth it! Walking inside, I was immediately overwhelmed with the need to buy everything. There were gorgeous dishware, homeware, jewelry, stationery, incense, and more! If you're just getting into matcha, this is also a great place to start. My sister bought a kokedama (moss ball) plant here a few years ago and suggested I do the same. The selection is fantastic, the prices reasonable and the proprietor especially kind, helpful and friendly. Having tried growing Bonsai a few years ago, unsuccessfully I have to admit, I was hesitant to try to foster a kokedama plant. Sooo much fun to shop in here and what unique gifts and finds! They have bonsai trees & plants here! I just love it. My son has a bonsai fern that I saw when I visited him up in Seattle. He said he bought it right here in Little Italy! I forgot about it until he came to visit over Labor Day. After eating at delicious Underbelly we rushed up here to check this place out before his plane took off. I bought two bonsai plants here. One is the exact same asparagus fern that my son has and the other a little palm tree for my daughter. I had no idea they had palm trees! The lady was so nice and helpful. My son's girlfriend asked what to do when the roots start to break through the moss. She instructed her on which moss to put around the plant and tie it with thread. So unusual and fun! Definite gem! You'll smell incense burning as you walk in - very meditative and brings in a spiritual Japanese homey feel. I often find it beyond tedious to go shopping anywhere but online however I am glad I came in and had a sniff around. The prices are higher than other places but the individual running the store has sorted through all the stuff out there and really picked out cool items. Many of the items come from Japan. I've walked by this place so many times yet this is the first time I came in here. I was looking for a gift for a family member and thought of this place. Keep your eyes open while in the shop - I spotted 3 fish in various glass containers/spheres hanging around the store. It's such a great design idea. Just make sure to not take any photos. Looking for some beautiful Japanese trinkets, bad ass bonsai trees, plants, chopsticks, etc?! This is the place to come. Not only is this store located in a perfect spot in Little Italy, but truly reminds me of stores in Japan I have visited before. The owner, who is Japanese and unfortunately forgot his name, was SUPER helpful and knowledgable about the bonsai trees he sells. We came here specifically for these trees, and found out that he actually hand makes these green moss balls that the trees grow in (see photo)! I was so impressed. Adorable Japanese style boutique with a huge variety of 'communicant vases' as I like to call those little 3 pieces vases to make your own terrariums or get some already made for you or your special friend or loved one. I simply adore every single item in this zen like store, including the girl who works there (at least the one on the weekends) who patiently explains the story behind many of the objects you can get there, who is the artist or how was it made. I have got some vases for me that I end up regifting, not because I don't like them, is just that I want to make other people happy with these little cheerful pieces of glass. So I keep going and buying and always admiring the nice setup at the entrance. It gives you ideas on how to use them. Also makes it look like a cover of a decor magazine, very enchanting. But, my favorite items in this store by far are the totally unique vases and atriums!
