I stayed at Captiva for 6 nights in May of 2026 and was very pleased with all it had to offer! The rooms are very clean and spacious, the staff was friendly, and the neighborhood was quiet and easily accessible. The beach was just a super short walk away from the resort grounds. If one needs a book to read, or a beach chair to sit on, the office has it covered! The grounds are kept pristine looking, with lots of beautiful flowers in the nearby pool and private garden area. The beds are super comfortable, and the kitchens are equipped with everything one needs to fix a meal. A convenient store, breakfast places, a pizza place, a few bars, shipping store, clothing store and shuttle bus access are all within a short walking distance. You will have everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable beach vacation! I will definitely return! read more

We enjoyed our one night at this resort and would have stayed longer had we found it sooner. The accommodations were spacious and clean and the location was fantastic- just a short stroll to Crescent Beach. We had a great experience here. Room in the corner, cute little studio with plenty of room for 2 (or 3). We thought the bed was so comfy! And the comforter was warm. We slept great. The bed is soft, so those who need firm wouldn't like ours. Full fridge and kitchen, clean hard flooring with no nasty hotel carpet, cute comfy front courtyard and chairs, Euro shower half glass door in ours with small bathroom (fan, no open window, plenty of shampoo/soaps/wipes)... And the private beach just flip flop or maybe even barefoot steps away! White sand (stick and shells, warning for sensitive feet), sand doesn't get hot, tons of shells, and a beach attendant till 4 who rents and sets up 2 beach loungers & umbrella for $30 plus fees and tip. Front desk person was friendly. Free plus tips shuttle around island. Our only issue was several of us had ac units that were way too cold and not responding well to thermostat. And one of the many groups next to us was 3 loud kids with yelling moms one night, but everyone else was quiet/chill/older/ideal for romantic vacay. read more

Captiva Beach Resort is an awesome place! Located a short walk to the beach and a short walk to a seven eleven, liquor store and a pretty good seafood restaurant, you can't go wrong with those choices, especially the beach and liquor store! Warning... the Sunset Room is tiny but super cute, the room is a whopping 150 square feet. We LOVED it! The room was spotless when we entered and smelled freshly clean, everything worked well. The staff is super nice. Ice machine on premises along with a coin operated washer and dryer. Free parking. This is our go to place when visiting Siesta Key! Loved it! Two thumbs up! Just a couple minutes walk to the beach on the end of the island. Walking distance to soem restaurants. The room was as described. It had a little kitchen with the dishes, blender for smoothies and a toaster. They let us check in three hours earlier. Be advised their check out time is 10 am, but can be extended to 11. The grounds were manicured and an oasis for the weary. The rooms specifically #20 was a disappointment. It was so cramped that it was hard to breathe at times. You can't walk straight without turning sideways. The walls are thin that the noise of the adjacent rooms can be heard. Service was friendly although the stay could have been better if they tried to accommodate us for the request to switch rooms.The manager showed me a room that was available but never followed through with me for the transfer. Parking can be difficult with the limited space you can turn and back up. There is a washer and dryer with pay $2.00 per load. Self service trash removal. read more

I spent New Years Eve 2020 here -- and the next night, too! Super clean, super rates and I will DEFINITELY be booking here again. I only live an hour south of Siesta Key and this was a PERFECT weekend get-away! 200 feet to the beach access. Beautiful shared pool. Friendly and most accommodating staff. Everyone in the office was superb and the cleaning staff a delight :) As for the crap reviews -- you can't please everyone. Those who complained obviously have no idea what beach life is all about. This was a cute little resort close to the beach. We got a room with a couch and bed and for me and my 2 kids it worked just fine. They give you a reserved parking spot so make sure you park in it or be towed. We used the fridge but not the stove. The bathroom is small but it had what we needed. The shower could use a little more pressure but I've had worse. The perk of this little place how close you are to the private beach area for the street. Just a short walk up the street and down a path and then your on the white sandy beach of siesta key! I think it was a great price for the location. If I go back to the area I'd stay there again. read more

A friend and I stayed in room 12 for four nights and it was great. Much better than I was expecting from these reviews! The room was a nice size with a well equipped kitchenette. Everything looked brand new. We hit up a Publix to get everything we need s to make breakfast and lunch in the room- very convenient! The bathroom was also very spacious with one downside - it's comically tiny sink - we couldn't even wash our faces in it, we used the sink in the kitchen instead. Also, there are no full length mirrors anywhere in the room, which would have been helpful to us. The resort has a great location to the beach, and provides beach towels as well. Be sure to rent a chair though - the first day I just laid out on my towel and ended up getting a few bites from the ants that crawl in the sand. All in all, I would definitely stay at Captiva again. read more

I did not get to the resort because of plane cancellations in California. Although after 4 hours in the airport it was clear we would miss our flight to Sarasota. I called Captiva resort as soon as we knew we would miss our flights. We were charged 314. because of their cancellation policy. In many cases, cancellation policies are necessary. Wonderful experience! The GM Drew was amazing! He upgraded us to a larger room. It was perfect. Very recently renovated, the apartment is beautiful and clean. The beda is very comfortable and the kitchen helps save money on food. The leisure area just outside the room is quaint and relaxing. Both the pool and the beach are just a short walk from the room. Siesta Key has a free island shuttle, the Frog Hop. Leave your car in the hotel parking. We will stay here on our next trip! Very happy with our choice! First off, looks aren't everything. As beautiful as the walk to the beach and the space between the rooms were, customer service is everything and should be placed above all else when dealing with guests. My friends and I decided to take a visit to Siesta Key and chose to stay at this so called 'resort' and explained early on how we would pay for our stay: Half cash, half on card. Normal right? Wrong. They told us we would be able to pay on the last day, but we were charged the full amount on the first day. And guess what, they never let us know! On top of that a cleaning/service fee was included. We decided to tell the associates that were to clean our room that we didn't need it because it was not much of a mess and we would clean up. We left a couple of dishes, and a couple towels on the bathroom floor when we were leaving on our last day, but we were charged another 100 dollars. 100 dollars for a cleaning fee. As customers that were very disappointed and concerned about the fees that were charged, we called in to the front desk after already heading back home from our 'vacation'. Now normal everyday people do understand that women have periods. It's human nature, and seeing as how there are women that work at the establishment, disposal of certain items is obviously necessary to keep the area tidy. We disposed the tampons and other menstrual devices in the garbage in the bathroom because there isn't anywhere else to put them. We spoke to the 'manager' for the resort. As for manager, it definitely doesn't sound like he knew how to do his job. He hung up on us twice. He claimed that there was no discussion about the cleaning fee, because we apparently left a whole room messy. "Tampons everywhere", "gunk on cabinet", and "towels everywhere". Things that weren't even true or discussed is enough to charge someone a $100 fee without notice. All in all, the experience sucked. If you're interested in non disclosed fees, and rude management, this is the way to go. If I could put no stars, I would. read more

Siesta Key is Beautiful, unfortunately Captiva Resort was not. On arrival discovered our room safe battery was dead (no offer to replace). Then the next morning the shower broke, wouldn't shut off.. had to deal with while trying to get ready to go out for the day. They came in to fix and mud on the floor and left the door unlocked. Then came back and toilet wouldn't flush and when you turned on the sink the shower went on. They came back and fixed. Then when I was packing the eve before we leaving, the room started getting hotter, from 70 to 78. I called and was told the room next to me turned on the heat and it affected my room. Told me to do a few things that didn't work. Jennifer then came over, yelling at the neighbors and pounded on my door to say it should work now and was walking away. I shared it's on and she yelled "why didn't you call me, I came all the way over here" I said it just came on and not to have an attitude with me, wow. So uncalled for. And finally the pillows are apparently foam, so uncomfortable. The room was hot, they told us not to turn the thermostat below 72 degrees as otherwise the motor could go out. This type of info should be shared prior to reserving a room. read more

Visited as a couple during Memorial Day weekend in 2015. Pros - Proximity to the beach. It's especially great if you're going snorkeling at Point of Rocks. -Private beach for those staying in the community, with the option to rent umbrellas and chairs. The beach is beautiful and away from the busier section of the key where public parking attracts more visitors. -Staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived early but they called us as soon as our room was ready prior to the official check-in. -Rooms were equipped with a full kitchen with convenient appliances such as a toaster, microwave, coffee maker, etc. It also had plates, cups, mixing bowls, etc. if you're visiting with a family all these amenities are great. -Despite having a lot of rooms in the Captiva community, it was quiet and peaceful at night. Cons -The bathroom could use updating. When we first arrived we noticed it wasn't as clean as other places we've stayed but we recognize it was worth overlooking considering the price and all the pros listed above. -The AC unit was a little crazy, turning on and off every couple of minutes. However, it did keep the room very cool (critical in the FL heat). Overall it was a great experience and we would definitely stay here again! We had such a memorable weekend. read more

We loved this place! Art deco touches and inviting common spaces outside made this a cute boutique hotel. Super close to the beach and convenient and reasonably priced beach service. It was walking distance to restaurants. We were in room #30 which is a super tiny studio but the bed was comfy and the kitchen and bathroom seemed brand new. Since the room was connecting with other rooms, it was a little noisy as you could hear conversations taking place in the room next to you. We will definitely be staying again! read more

I so wanted to love this resort but upon checking in I was immediately disappointed. I will start out with the pro's since there are some great aspects of the hotel. The location to the beach saved my whole experience!!!! It was a 5 minute walk to the beach. The beach was beautiful!!!! The water was calm and peaceful. Having the grills all over the resort was great for throwing some hotdogs on the grill to feed the kids. The linens were surprisingly clean and so was the kitchen. Now for the cons!!! The floors and the bath room were covered in hair. Red hair, blond hair, brown hair, black hair you name it is saw it. Please look at the pics. We took showers at brothers room since his seemed to be hair free and much cleaner than our room. When we checked in we asked for late check out. The person checking us in said to ask them the day of check out and they would see if they could accommodate us. When that check our day came we went to the office and asked for late check out and the said they could but for a fee of 45 dollars. My mother who was in another room asked also they told her 69 dollars and my brother who was also at the resort ask and they told him 35 dollars. How on earth do they come up with these numbers? Also if it was for a fee they should have told us that upon check in and not on the check out day. read more

My family and I are checking out of here tomorrow morning. We stayed 3 days and found the location to be ideal if you're looking to spend your time on the beach as it's less than 100 yards to the water. We have a 12 and 16 year old and both really enjoyed the stay. I give Captiva a 4/5 because it met all of our needs. The only reason why I didn't give a perfect score is due in part to the room being dated; ie: cabinets, stove, etc. But overall, great location, super nice staff and very relaxing. We stayed there for one night. Upon arriving I was pleasantly met by the innkeeper. The grounds were well manicured and the location is just a quick walk from a beautiful beach and some good restaurants. I took my key and opened the door to #30 and bumped into the bed. The room was billed as an efficiency, it was a triangular shaped room, the size of a small college dorm room. The queen size bed took up the entire room. The closet was a 12 inche cubby behind the front door. The kitchen was old and showed rust and was wobbly. The refrigerator had yellow standing water inside. When the refrigerator turned on you couldn't hear. It was a cool night 63 degrees so we turned on the heater/AC combo wall unit (a window shaker installed into the concrete). The heat kicked on and the air started to smell like smoke. And the AC unit was loud, and in the small room conversation was impossible if you did not raise your voice. There was a three inch gap below the heating/cooling unit which we filled with a towel. The "resort" claims to be a green business but having this large of a gap that let's cool or heated air escape is far from responsibly green. The bathroom was about 3 feet wide by 4 feet deep with undersized fixtures. The stall shower was clean but it seemed that the drain trap was letting in sewer gas. The lightbulb in the shower was burned out as was one in the room. The TV was decent sized but tucked into corner which made it up viewable from 75% of the room. The walls are thin, the neighboring room noise from running water and flushing toilets was loud. Sleep was difficult. The bed was clean and comfortable enough. There is no room service, it is not a resort. It is an old motel next to other old motels that have had face lifts. Repeat it is not a resort. No restaurants, there is a pool shared with other face lifted neighboring motels. read more

I just got married in Sarasota and chose the Captiva Beach Resort and their sister hotel Stickney Point as the places for my guests to stay. This was a great decision. The hotels gave me a great price for my guests and were super accommodating to last minute changes--which with my family, there were plenty. The rooms are nice and spacious and come with fully equipped kitchens. The hotel is also very centrally located--just minutes away from the beach, restaurants and shopping. This made it very easy for my out-of-town family to enjoy themselves. There is private beach access at the Captiva Beach Resort. I was able to go for a morning run the day before my wedding on the beach--Loved it. Our out-of-town guests who stayed here were able to have a mini-vacation, and as a lot of them were from the mid-west, they LOVED IT. The best part about the hotel was the service. Everyone in the office was so nice and helped my husband and I coordinate with everyone. Requests were filled quickly and they handed out our welcome bags. We could not have asked for a better place. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights mid week during off season. We got a great rate of $79 per night for their queen room with kitchenette. We arrived around 9 pm and Ben walked us to our room (23) which was across the street from the office and next to a nice little courtyard. Our room was decent sized with an open plan. They're obviously remodeling as the fridge looked brand new, but the stove was from the 70s. The bathroom is TINY!!! Barely any room to turn around. We settled in for the night with no issues. The bed was a bit hard, but the pillows were comfy. The next day we got up and made breakfast (only one pan) only to realize there wasn't any hot water to wash dishes with. We boiled water in the tea pot and called Ben at the front desk who told us he'd send maintenance over. After about a half hour, we got tired of waiting, so went out to explore the area. When we returned around 3 pm, we still didn't have any hot water. I called Ben again who stated that he'd be right over ... and he never showed. At 3:30 the maintenance man showed up and explained that he turned the water heater up and to give it about 30 mins. He said that our room was at the end of the line for the water heater and it takes longer to get us hot water. So why put us in this room knowing this, when the resort is nowhere near full. About 20 mins later, a fabulous woman from housekeeping knocked on our door and offered to move us to a different room (31) where there is plenty of hot water. She showed us the room and it was a king bedroom suite with a separate bedroom and plenty of hot water. We moved instantly (this is the only thing that saved this review!) and took nice long hot showers. The bathroom was bigger, but the shower was still about a 2x2 square. Also, the knob is backwards, so while I thought there wasn't any hot water in the shower, I figured out that I had to turn the knob the other way...Haha....joke's on me. Due to the torrential down pour of rain for the two days we were there, we never did check out the pool or walk to the beach. We would like to try this resort again as it's a great value for the money and excellent location on the beach. Although a drive from the villages where most shops/restaurants are. read more

My wife and I stayed at Captiva for over a week. There are some good and some bad points to it. I will start with the few good points. The staff is very helpful and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Sarah was particularly helpful. The location relative to the beach was ideal. Barbeque was handy for dinners. Now for the bad points. Careful when you select a room. Rooms 23 and above are not renovated. When we checked in the room was in a severe state of disrepair. Although relatively clean, the shower was unusable for anyone over 5 feet. The bed was advertised as a queen, it was a double. There were stains on the couch of vomit (and flipping the cushion only revealed more). The only new things in the room were the microwave and fridge. The next day we switched rooms to a more renovated (although smaller) one. The only issue was the renovations going on next door (that did not bother us). One incident happened during our stay when the power in our room went out. The only person at the front desk was a 16 year old kid who was unaware of how to manage the issue. After much irritation, it was found that bags of comforters were stacked in the fuse box room (fire hazard) and tripped the fuse in our room. That caused an overload in our AC system and we did not have AC for 24 hours. To the hotel's credit, they were prompt in calling the appropriate repairmen the next day. All in all, I would not stay back at Captiva. They have deceptive reviews on other sites and buyer should beware of which room you pay for and which one you stay in. read more

We weren't expecting alot from this hotel, as we had been to the area before and were familar with the area. They are renovating this hotel and most of the rooms have been completed. Unfortunately the one we got had not yet been renovated, so it was old and cramped, but clean. The bed was pretty rough on my back, as I do have a bad back, but all in all it was a pretty good place to stay if you want a low price clean place to stay. The one BIG negative, was that we always leave a tip for the maid, and we came back to lunch around 1pm from the beach to find the room not cleaned up but the tip gone. We thought this was odd, but figured the maid had got the tip and would clean the room later. At 4pm when we returned from the beach, we found the room still not cleaned. When my wife asked the maid about it, she said that they do not clean the room unless you leave the maid service sign on the door. News to us, as no one informed us of that, so when we asked about the tip being gone, she told us that she had seen the maintenace man coming out of our room earlier that day. When I went to the front desk to make a complaint, it fell on deaf ears. I told him that no way should a maintenace man be in our room without our knowledge, must less steal the tip left for the maid. If you stay here, do not leave a tip or anything of value in your room, as you never know who will be coming in and out of your room withour your knowledge. read more

Spent 2days at resort over the July 4th holiday. Room 28 was quiet, clean and met our needs. Kitchen is small but has all that was needed except for pizza cutter. This is an older place that has been upgraded.Internet is available. Easy walking distance to beach. Parking for one car on site. Some of the light fixtures need replacing and we did have a few mosquito's as roommates. Pool and grounds are very nice. read more
