Older hotel, but great rooms and customer service! The check in process was smooth, and they offered a free mixed drink. If I drank, I would've had a couple as my crew loved them lol. They have an onsite restaurant that serves food all day, a full bar, and a market on the lobby level. On the lower lobby, there is a nice sized gym, huge pool with slides, fire pits, bikes you can use, cornhole, and several conference rooms. There is a dock directly behind the hotel, which offers boat rentals as well. It's located near the Ribgling museum, and there are fireworks most nights. My balcony was such a fun spot to enjoy my drink and watch the show. 5 stars! read more

We bought a day pass to the resort for a day the week between Christmas and NYE 2024. The pool/resort area was nicely maintained. The other resort guests were respectful and just the right amount of chatty. The sun comes in the backside of the hotel so if you've ever turn your beach lounge chair around pointing towards the canal and the Ritz-Carlton, you can full sun all day. It's fun to watch the different boats who dock in this canal go in and out. Kyle at the front desk was very nice, explained everything we needed to know about using our day pass, and got us on our way. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the beach that's also included with the day pass, which was a nice benefit. There are towels located right before you go out to the pool area. A guest who was staying here also said you can fish right off the canal and go out on kayaks and paddle boards. The food and beverages were decent enough, and not ridiculously overpriced. The pool was a little chilly, but felt great when I needed a quick dip. Would consider staying here on vacation instead of just getting a day pass. read more

Outdated and overpriced in my opinion. On top of the almost $325 per night, a $30 resort fee (for what besides a pool and gym I'm not sure), and $45 valet per night (the only way to park your car). The staff seem less than thrilled to work here, and the rooms need work. There are chips on every piece of wood furniture and door, scuffs on the walls, and the hotel seems very outdated in my opinion. We were here for a wedding and 2 groups staying had to request a new room due to stained curtains and dirty sheets. The views are beautiful, and I'm glad we paid extra for the balcony. The store in the lobby is nice for late night snacks. Overall - I wouldn't stay here again, and hoping the hotel gets some TLC, it definitely has potential. read more

Went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We are accustomed to a nicer property overall from Hyatt but it was okay for one night. Cons: - obnoxious loud construction beeping at 7am. First night without a baby waking me up in over a year and I had to wake up due to the beeping. - shuttle stops at 5pm (it would have been good to know this earlier on. Tucked away, not much around it, but a nice little staycation retreat to recharge. Close to the performing arts center, and connected via sidewalks and parks, so now we know this is a great hotel to stay at whenever we come see an evening show. Saltwater pool with sweet cascades; hot tub on the back; plenty of loungers and shade after 4-5 pm; fully-stocked pool bar and one restaurant with full bar (lightning-fast service, good food, and even better prices). Staff were outstanding, from front desk, restaurant servers, and bartenders to housekeeping. The Globalist perks were even better: -We got upgraded to a big penthouse suite with 2 separate connecting rooms (big living room w/ dining table and full bathroom; separate bedroom w/ addt'l sitting area & another full bathroom) before we even asked. Beautiful views of the bay and city. It was great sitting in the Florida room in the bedroom or the balcony off the living room to watch the sailboats and yachts go by. Sunset was flawless. Albeit outdated rooms, we had a very relaxing, enjoyable Sunday here. -Free Valet parking -$15 credit at the Marketside by the lobby for snacks and drinks -Two welcome drink vouchers - we ordered 2 Patron Reposado spicy margaritas made w/ fresh jalapeños and, to our surprise, no upcharge! Perfectly balanced and shaken. And they were HUGE. Those would easily cost $25-30+/ea. at any upscale Tampa or Miami cocktail lounge. -Free breakfast buffet waiting for us in the morning before work! Hands-down, the BEST value for a Hyatt Cat 1-4 in the state (in my experience, as a Hyatt Globalist)! I've stayed in plenty of Regency's and this one is old, old. Believe the ppl when they tell you the rooms are old and this is as of April 2025. They remodeled the lobby but did not do the rooms. My photos can tell the story. I was disappointed because I didn't expect this from a Regency at all. I would have stayed somewhere else. They get two stars for the valet guys, and the night staff. Front desk guy at the front was very helpful and friendly (forgot his name) but shout out to him. I wish there was standard for consistency with the paint and carpet. This was ridiculous. read more

Staff - five stars! Unfortunately there's only so much staff can do when saddled with an old and somewhat awkwardly designed property. It has low ceilings, and throughout the room there's peculiarities or issues that take away from the stay. First and foremost, the A/C doesn't get all that cold, and I like to sleep with it cold; it couldn't get my room below what I'd guess at being low 73-74F range. The room with the toilet and shower is tiny, as in if you want the door closed behind you, squeeze into the area between toilet and tub to get it closed. The door is also glass, so even if there had been a light switch in the water closet, the light would be illuminating the room regardless. However, that's "fixed" by there not being a light switch in the water closet, nor is there a door to the bathroom itself, so if you need to use the facilities at night, you're going to flood the room with light either way. This is a pet peeve of mine; I shouldn't have to wake up my wife and kid because I needed to use the restroom at night. Put a switch for the water closet light in the WC, and don't have a glass door or one of those dumb barn doors hotels seem to love so much these days. Next, some rooms have balconies, some rooms have this odd windowed outcropping with a seating area within the windows, and a curtain that can close that area off. Well, if you're out on your balcony, great, you already know you may not have privacy. But not all guests of non-balcony rooms think to close that curtain as they feel like hey I'm in my room, I have privacy. Well, they realize they don't if you're on your balcony and happen to look down and find someone seated on that window couch not realizing balconies look in on them. It's just really odd. Finally, and I know many hotels do this, but the Hyatt_Guest wifi you're forced to pay for with your resort fee, does not extend into their ball rooms. They do this on purpose, because they want entities renting ball rooms to pay more money for Hyatt_Meetings wifi access codes to give their patrons. Well, that's not my problem, I am being charged a resort fee that is for wifi, I'm paying for my room, I'm a guest of the property, I expect to be able to use my paid benefit throughout the property and in this case I can't. Breakfast was fantastic; great service and great options, particularly for those with Globalist benefits who enjoy it free of charge. Staff were attentive throughout the stay. Parking felt safe. Not much of a view, and with the other issues, I'm not able to go above three stars. read more

We really like coming here for both staying at the resort and eating at the restaurant. For this trip, we couldn't stay here but stayed nearby and wanted to kayak over to the dock to enjoy the restaurant. The dockhand (older white male) rudely greeted us with "can I help you"? We said we'd like to enjoy the restaurant and he said nope, not allowed. We explained we have done it before when we are in the area and it's never been an issue. He said (rudely) "well, not today." It doesn't make sense you can come in the front door to go to the restaurant but not on your kayak. Didn't appreciate his rudeness either. Our room had a nice view and excellent air conditioning- but it was dirty... there was what appeared to be BLOOD on one of the picture frames by the door, filth on the wall above the bathroom trash bin, and literally inches of space between the toilet and bathroom door. The rooms were nice. We got a great view of the bay from our room. Eventhough we got a great rate for our staycation, there is no self parking. Only valet at $45 a night. You can try to park on the street and walk over. Breakfast was a fair value compared to nearby restaurants. The egg white omelet was generous and the coffee hot and freshly brewed. Came for a little vacay with my boyfriend. The pictures online are definitely not what the rooms look like exactly. It is a nice hotel and the staff are wonderful and helpful but the it's outdated. The room that we stayed in was a little run down and dated. I've stayed at other Hyatt Regency's that were beautiful so I had high expectations for this. Was comparable to a nice hampton inn. In the comments of my booked I asked for a bay view room if available. We were granted this request (see, staff is wonderful). We were so happy with our beautiful view! The pool is wonderful downstairs. Towels are available for your use. Pool was quiet (we went on a week day) and relaxing. Got a drink from the little bar they have by the pool but it's very expensive. Parking is not free, you have to pay for that! This hotel is disgustingly dirty. Don't let the outside fool you! How much money Hyatt has, and the location they could and need to do way better. We stayed two nights and the first night we stayed and found ants. They gave us a new room and gave us a small upgrade only one floor above, the second room we found a COCKROACH CRAWLING ON THE PILLOW!! We told the front desk and she only took off the room charges (which is so insane to me). Which is why I'm willing to write a review. I noticed others saying they found the same kind of bugs in their rooms. The bathroom is so old and dingy, the rack was falling off, its drain was clogged, I the whole room felt dirty.the blanket was like paper. Every time you moved you would hear it. This is very disturbing coming from a big corperate chain hotel. One of the employees said they were supposed to close down the hotel but they decided not to. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Here is the headline.... THE HOTEL IS SCHEDULED TO BE DEMOLISHED NEXT YEAR TO BE REPLACED BY LUXURY APARTMENTS. They don't seem to be putting a dime into the place if they can avoid it. It's unkempt, just about all the employees who I asked had been there for a year or less - the longest was 4 years. The veterans probably saw the lack of a future and went elsewhere. it took two days to get housekeeping. The rooms are small and worn. They even cut back on toiletries - the shower had bottles of body wash and shampoo the size of a small bottle of nail polish. The ice machine on our floor was broken the entire stay with two loud drying machines blowing 24/7. I had to go up a floor for ice. And parking - $45 a night? are you kidding me? The worst thing that happened was how they handled Hurricane Helene. We asked time and again if the Hotel would be evacuated since it's in evacuation Zone A (the first to be evacuated). By then, the nearby barrier islands were under mandatory evacuation orders with potable water to be turned off. All they told us is that they did t know - "it was being discussed". Going to the Sarasota website around 5pm before the storm hit it said all of zone A should evacuate. Because we weren't told that on a timely basis, it took us a long time to find accommodations on higher ground. In my view, THEY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE WELFARE OF THEIR GUESTS. I had booked this place because over the years, a well off friend used it when the nearby Ritz Carlton was full. So when I needed a place to stay for a week when my local home was finishing renovation, I figured it was a safe choice. Hyatt is a decent flag. BOY WAS I WRONG. The place seems to be - in my opinion - being milked until it's demolished. There's a lot of nearby luxury construction in process, and I guess they are just waiting for that product to be absorbed, One of the worst hotel experiences in my life. read more

We are Globalists at Hyatt so we stay at Hyatt properties all the time- from the Hyatt Place/House more family/budget friendly to the more high end regencies and other brands and always feel that Hyatt has amazing service overall but I will say this property has been the exception to the rule. In fact o haven't written a review on a property before this because it was so surprisingly bad. There is literally no customer service. From the front desk to the pool bar to the non-existent pool deck attendants. Every single thing about our experience so far has been subpar at best! We stayed here for a conference and the hotel is not clean, the staff is rude I called 3 times in advance to make sure the room was feather free and it was not. I have a special needs child with severe asthma. They checked us into a room that had feathers after making us wait a long time for the room and then had to find us another room. I've stayed here on a couple of occasions and although the property is tired, the location, the views and the staff is great! Scott at the front desk is very brand aware and takes great care of members better than many Hyatt brand properties. Selena at the front desk is also on her A game. The property is on a little harbor with a nice quiet vibe where you can sit out on a deck and watch the pelicans do their thing. Very close to restaurants in central Sarasota so you can easily walk or take a care, whatever.... Definitely a great place to enjoy your time in Sarasota. read more

This is the third time we have stayed at this property - all times on points. We were pleased that the staff was able to upgrade us to a room with a balcony since this is so much better than without. On this visit we faced the bay vs. the marina and that was a good thing given the nearby massive construction project on that side of the hotel. We like this location because we can walk to many of the downtown restaurants in about 20 mins. The hotel is feeling a bit dated in spots but the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Like most places in Florida they charge a mandatory "resort fee". Given that we took advantage of the very nice pool area, the bikes (a bit beat up but OK for cruisers), and the kayaks. These all added to the experience. The recreation staff was very helpful and friendly. One tip to avoid the $15/night parking fee is to park on the street in front or the parking lot across the street. Yup five all the way. After I arrived found it easy to park. Plenty of room. A little nice note w a bottle of wine for a nice room. Top floor view of the ritz and bay. The room was clean and maybe slight nicks and dated but I have stayed in Hyatt w worse beds that are newer, with poor sleep. So over all I was able to sleep well !!!!! The balcony was so nice to sit outside. All the staff during covid helped out. They have masks on and this is Florida ! Breakfast was slow but comp'd to the room very tasty and it was nice to relax in the restaurant vs walk in and self Svc. Overall for the price and location I can't complaint. I recently attended a function at the Hyatt for my son's football banquet (January 24, 2025). Upon arrival I was informed that I needed to valet my car. Not a problem. I went to the function and left around 8:15pm. When we went to leave, it took about 25 minutes for my car to arrive, all the while people were coming and going with their cars. I thought it was strange and even texted my husband that it was taking a while. I left the Hyatt and drove directly to Orlando for a football tournament. When I woke up the next morning to head to the tournament, I noticed the rim on my BRAND NEW CAR was completely scratched (it looks like someone it a curb and HARD). The car had less than 3000 miles on it and is approximately one month old. I am the only driver of this car and I have never hit anything. The only other person who has been behind the wheel of my car was the Hyatt valet. When we called the next morning and spoke with Joshua, the valet manager, he told me they would not take responsibility for it. He told me that even though it was dark when my car was returned to me, it was my responsibility to walk around the car my car and do a thorough inspection, with a flashlight, to check for damage before leaving the premises. We explained that we would like to come in and review the security cameras and we were informed that they do not have any. We asked to speak with Joshua's boss and we were told that "he is the boss." He did say that he would have the owner of the valet company call me. I am still waiting. On top of that, when Joshua first got on the phone and we explained what happened, there was absolutely no sound of surprise, kind of like he already knew what happened. Disgusting and disappointed in the lack of concern. If you like your car, please understand there is almost nowhere to park, except for the valet and they could not care less about your vehicle. They do want a tip though...I would suggest staying someplace else. read more

Not a bad hotel, with a mostly-business like feeling throughout. It is situated at a great spot in downtown Sarasota, across from the Ritz Carlton. The hotel does feature a resort fee, but its relatively reasonable at $24...which I believe includes use of Kayaks etc. The room itself is clean, but of course rather spartan. The bathroom is also clean but honestly this whole property need a mild update. Overall, pretty good if you can get a decent rate of under 200 per night. read more

Not sure what is happening here... or the lack there of, is probably more appropriate. Checked in late... we had been on the road most of the day. We so wished we had researched the reviews better. Valet person was great. Lobby was fine... it was late so not many people, around. My first thought, though... Is this really considered a Regency? We were especially shocked at the condition of the room. Walked into a damp, warm smelly room... A/C was off with just the fan mode set on low. (Not Good) We turned down the air trying to get it temperature acceptable... that never did happen. We so regretted not asking for another room, immediately. After getting our luggage situated, we starting noticing the condition of the room. Carpet dirty, desk was dirty, lamp shades dirty and damaged and in need of replacing, window is so dirty, you can't see the view, bathroom caulk, counter and shelf clearly had not been cleaned... everything just feels old, out of date and unclean. Sheets look to be in good condition but they are damp from the high humidity and A/C being off. This is January not July. High humidity and wet sheets does not make for good sleeping conditions. So regret booking here. We used points but still had to pay for valet and resort fee... such a waste. Expected so much better from a Regency. You guys should be ashamed. read more

Beautiful hotel! They were very accommodating as I checked in early and they had a room ready for me within 10 minutes. I took 1 star away as an annoying noise went off in the middle of the night (I believe it was the AC) and it sounded almost like a fire alarm. Woke up in the morning to a super hot room. This hotel is dated, but there were some positive aspects to our stay. Here is a breakdown from 1 to 5 for the different categories: Room 2.5 Stars: Dated furnishings and furniture. The balcony had a nice view of the marina, but the balcony is open and was only 3.5 feet high, so I am surprised that no one has fallen off. Bed 2.5 Stars: The bed was average comfort, but the pillows were low quality and the linens were average quality. Cleanliness/housekeeping 1 Star: Upon arrival the shower curtain was half-way in the bath tub and there were two open bath products on the floor. There were dead bugs in the light bulbs by our bed. There was dust on nearly every surface. The house keeping here is an F. Bathroom 2 Stars: A very small and odd bathroom, I think the hotel failed to modernize the bathroom in any meaningful way. I stubbed my toe on the door because the bathroom is so small that that my foot caught the door. The bathroom is no joke 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. Front desk staff 5 Stars: Rachel was hospitable and made us feel welcomed. Pool and whirlpool 4 Stars: The pool area is nice, there is a grotto area and plenty of areas to lounge. The only issue are the drink costs, my wife spent over $40 on a couple Coronas with Patron shots. In summary, I did not hate this hotel, but I can't see myself ever spending money to stay here again. I booked a surprise Valentine's getaway for me and my guy. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a hotel when considering the price. I was fighting back tears as we settled into the room, because I had splurged wanting everything to be nice and it didn't come remotely close to meeting my expectations. I've had much nicer stays in hotels that cost half as much (including Hyatt Place). - The room did not feel luxurious in any way; ugly flooring, dated and worn furniture, curtains with stains and holes. Bed was fairly comfortable, but very noisy when getting in and out. - The bathroom is the smallest I've ever used, and I took many trips in campers as a kid. I'm an average-sized girl and there's barely room to turn in a circle without hitting something. Water pressure in the shower was abysmal. Toiletries were terrible quality and smelled like dish soap. - The self-parking ($15 a night) was a crummy lot behind the hotel, not an attached garage and not even covered. It was also a bit of a trek from the lot to the hotel entrance. - Locks on the balcony door kept getting jammed. The bay view is off to the left; looking straight ahead provides a view of... another building, and the road work in the hotel driveway. - I fully support COVID-19 safety measures, I just wish they had communicated on the website that the shuttle was not operating at this time (instead of boasting it as a feature); we were hoping to walk or shuttle around as much as possible, but instead we ended up driving much more than we planned. Great views and a good place to stay. It's close to a lot of different things like downtown Sarasota, tiki bar, walking path. I was hear for a conference and the space they provided to us was a good size. You could walk out to the pool and to get some fresh air with ease. There also were bathrooms right there, so you didn't have to walk across the hotel or to your room. Rooms were clean and stayed decently cool. I wish the window opened or all rooms had a balcony to enjoy. I am giving it 4 stars because the service was OK, I stood in a line for a bit when there were 3 behind the desk not doing anything and because one elevator was out of order so it was impossible to go up and down floors when conferences got out or guests were checking in and out. The stairs were not easy to be found and when you have to go up floor 7 it isn't always fine. read more

The food was delicious, every single day it never disappointed. The rooms super clean, the gym super nice and the pool impecable and beyond amazing. In addition to all of the above, we interacted frequently with 3 of the Hyatt members and we can't leave them out of our review. Marie at the front desk, Carmel & Margaret thank you all for being so amazing!!!!!! after COVID is difficult to find good customer service; but they really made a difference.
