The guy working the counter was nice enough, but he shorted me $10 on my change,, I got my $10 8-in sub home only to discover the the sub bun was so stale it was crumbling apart.. the first two inches of the sandwich was nothing but bread, and the amount of meat in the bottom was equal to a teeny cigar with a bunch of lettuce on top of it and half a slice of tomato. The food was nothing like the other Captain Nemo's location. We used to visit a different location weekly until it closed. So I was excited to try this location. Bad decision. They over seasoned the sub. Charged me extra for cheese that was supposed to come with the sub. The service was horrible. They forgot something that I ordered & then told me I was not charged. Where clearly I was. I had the receipt as proof. Then we had to wait another 15 minutes for the item they forgot to make. By then the fries were now soggy & cold. just got off work, I was starving. I seen a friend posted a picture on fb of some fried pickle spears from this place. So stop in there and see what its all about. To my surprise they also had a sub of the week special, for 5.00$ ham n cheese, with the usual works. (onion,lettuce,tomato,seasoning and home dressing) I waited inside for my food it has a nice and comfortably small seating area with tables And huge TV. The staff are cool too. I saw a picture of their Pizza sub on Instagram and promptly made my way over here. The submarine roll is light and fluffy just as any bread should be. The pizza sub consists of ground beef, pepperoni, provolone cheese, and pizza sauce. Also, all subs come with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sub seasoning, and sub dressing. This sandwich was delicious. It also had just the right amount of spiciness. I'm not sure if the spice comes from the pizza sauce or the sub seasoning. I was greeted by a smiling face eager to take my order. Driving down Merriman on my way back to work, close to lunch time and I'm wondering what to get when I pass by a sign proclaiming "Capt'n Nemo's Sub Shop". How wonderful! I didn't know there was one of these small and elusive eateries out this way. What a find I've made! So I quickly make a u-turn, blast through traffic with a wanton disregard for safety and screech to a halt in the parking lot. OK, this place is nothing to look at & the neighborhood is a little sketchy, but I don't judge books by their covers. I went in and the counter person was very friendly. I ordered a 16" (hey...no judgement) chicken club sub. I hadn't had one of these delicacies since I was a pre-teen, and I was going to catch up in one fell swoop! The sub was most of $14, which is pretty expensive for both this area of town and the sandwich market in general. It came out promptly, bag & wrapped and ready for the ride to work. Unwrapped I revealed a monstrous sandwich that I realized was going to have to be 2 meals. The bread was good and not made overly soggy by the dressing, which itself was god, light, and understated. The chicken was sliced, grilled breast pieces with good flavor. The cheese might well have been non-existent, and the special seasoning distinctly lacking as well. Lettuce & tomato were both portioned well and good quality. Overall it was a decent sub, but decent doesn't cut it with the competition nowadays. What had happened to that sandwich champion from my youth??? Wait, I picked up the to-go menu I snagged on my way out, and noticed the name. It reads "Capt'n Nemo's Sub Shop", not "Captain Nemo's Submarine Sandwiches". A subtle distinction, a misprint, or something else entirely. Something to maybe fool the hungry weary traveler to believe they'd found the famous Nemo's of their past? Hmmmm...nobody's admitting anything of course.... This is NOT in fact the Captain Nemo's from my past or from the present. It is an entirely different undertaking with a eerily (purposefully) similar name. This in and of itself doesn't make it bad, but I did feel cheated. If I'm in the area, I might swing by and give them another shot for a steak & cheese sub, but I'll opt for the 8" & leave my nostalgia blinders at home. read more

Terrible Customer Service I ordered 2 submarines from this location. There was only 1 person working in the restaurant.....short staffed; she complained to another customer about how busy they were. I drove over 20 miles to patronize this establishment. I got home and the sub bun was not to toasted. The sub was wrapped in paper-(not foil) with oil leaking through in a paper bag. The oil leaked on my North Face jacket the bag busted. I called the store the same night and the cook denied not toasting the buns. I had to remove all the garnishments and toast them myself. I called and spoke to Marilyn whom stated that she was the manager. I explained to her what happened and explained that I tried to call and speak to the cook yesterday but was unsuccessful. She put me on hold and put the cook on the phone to continue to deny that she did not prepare the sandwiche incorrectly. I asked to speak back to the manager explaining the inconvenience and how far I drove. She stated that the order was too big and would only take $2 off of my next order.....as if I would ever come back. read more
