I've been hearing about these subs for years and years. But it was such a far drive for me back in the day. But I finally got a chance to try the steaks up and it was what everyone said it was. It was the best sex up I think I may have had. Deliciously seasoned and the steak just melts in your mouth. The prices were really good as well. I definitely will be going back and I mean going back soon. They do have some seating even though relatively small but they have picnic tables outside where you can dine Outdoors if you like. Not sure what I ate today - I think they forgot the seasoning and oil/vinegar. My steak and cheese had no flavor. Very bland even the vegis on it tasted of nothing. They were training new people and the pick up process seemed chaotic - my order was misplaced and I waited a long time standing there til finally someone asked my name and seemed confused why I wasn't given my food. Went to captain Nemo for the first time and got steak and cheese 16 inch and split it with my husband. It tasted like nothing it was plain also tomato where mushy .No seasoning and forgot onion. Will not be back. . Romulus location 12/24/25 read more

I have been eating there for 36 years, I have never had one so bad as I had today at 3:30, 8-27-25. The top of the bun was not eatible, cut the top part of the bun off to eat like an open face sandwich,I was not happy for a 20.00 sub. will not eat ther again, sad sad sad. read more

Steak and cheese and Reuben are so incredibly solid. This place has become a staple of ours anytime we are on this side of town.

Good food. Locally owned. The owner is inside working the grill while I'm sitting here. I've been a customer for a while but this is a little off of my regular route. Nice sub shop. Very friendly service. Prices are a bit steep imho however, not the end of the world. Just not my #1 go to sub shop. Close 2nd when near the airport. There is another Italian sub shop in the area that is as good if not a tad better. read more

There are NO OTHERS that come anywhere near a Captain Nemos sub. I grew up blocks away and when I moved I still won't get a sub from anywhere else because it's never as good as this. Having talked to a friend about the Belleville and Romulus locations. I stated the Belleville location has been a big disappointment. You don't get your money's worth there, lots of bread only. He said it's not the way in Romulus they are still normal there. We had a chance to go for lunch and try it out and to my excitement they were like the old days with plenty of fixings in the bread. Really loved the double I had. It's worth the extra drive for the correct sandwich to my younger memories. read more

First off I grew up on these subs so I decided to stop in the Romulus location on my way home from work in Ann Arbor to grab a tasty steak and cheese like I've always had growing up , the dining room had 1 customer besides me so not busy at all the older lady came from behind the counter to pop machine filled her cup up slightly with pop puts her lips all over cup then proceeds to put it right up against Ice dispenser and fills her cup up right where she just drank from and then refills her pop and takes another big gulp of it then places a lid on it , I'm sorry that just skeeves me out when I see workers doing that. On a lighter note my steak sub was everything I remember growing up the seasoning just right , the dressing on sub perfect I will never knock their food it's delicious but they do need to get a handle on that particular worker that's gross read more

This is the best Nemo's location hands down. I think they are under new ownership, but just as tasty as ever. Very friendly staff. The Belleville location is closer to me, but Romulus Nemo's is well worth the extra couple of minutes drive. Far better! Steak and cheese is top notch. Sad but True. If you arent going to read this in its entirety skip to the last paragraphs. I grew up by five points and this was a frequent stop in my childhood. Im 27 now and Im thankful this place is still here because of the connection to my upbringing. The place looks and smells the same. Ive seen several locations come an go including Flat Rock, Southgate and Allen Park so now I drive thirty minutes to come to this location in Romulus for subs when Im in need of a little break and I have been heartbroken the last few times Ive gotten my subs, 16$ for a full size and they use the most pitiful amount of steak. I was actually embarrassed when I took my s/o for the first time after raving about how great they were he held up the sub and said, "thats all you get for 16$?" I was hurt but realized that he was absolutely right and I've been paying for nostalgia. It is very important to support small business through hard times as its evident they're experiencing but when EVERYONE is facing hard times its harder and harder to sympathize with something that feels like a total rip off. I don't wish to harm this business but if You are not gonna order and pay for double steak and double cheese, I honestly wouldn't even bother. This is hard for me, like a tough break up with something Ive enjoyed throughout my whole life but, as a customer, I no longer feel valued by this business and maybe its time I find a new comfort food. If I ever feel the inclination to pay a potential 22$ with extras for a sandwich to satisfy my appetite as a 150 lb young woman, I might come back but sadly the doors will probably be closed by then as they have done at the 3 other locations I mentioned. read more

Not gonna lie, the outside and inside of this place made me nervous, but it's also always places like this that surprise the heck out of me. I should have known. I came right at 10am with some coworkers, we were the first customers of the day. When we pulled up everyone was like "uhhh, where'd you bring us?" I tried the steak sandwich with cheddar. Awesome. The bun on the sub was crusty and pillowy, it was perfect. The steak was tender and seasoned nicely. I added the trimmings, which added freshness. The vinegar and oil dressing was a must on this, it cut through the richness. Everyone with me thoroughly enjoyed their subs. The ladies at the counter were super friendly. I love this place! I grew up in Flat Rock and unfortunately the Nemo's I grew up going to is no longer open. I was delighted to find that other locations still exist. The sandwiches are delicious. The prices are reasonable. The service is friendly and prompt. I now live 30 minutes away and will often drive to get one of these great sandwiches. They are worth the drive!
