Spicy Italian on a hard roll: $8.00
Doug R.

Great hard roll. Good ingredients are used in the spicy Italian sub. Great, spicy gairdinera. Helpful, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Clean. Selection of pre-packaged sides is ... two: potato salad & pasta salad. Soup is available. I did not order/sample it. So why only 2 stars? Way too little meat and cheese for almost $8 (incl tax). The primary flavors were bread and gairdinera. Gonellas' almost $8 sub is a considerably better value and much more tasty ... certainly worth the short drive. Many more options for sides too. .

The Don (Italian) was fabulous

Came upon this wonderful sandwich / Italian Deli shop sorting through Yelp reviews and all I can say that it was a delightful experience. They totally exceeded my expectations. They were very helpful in walking me through the menu as I always inquire as to what's the top sellers. She recommended The Don - which is your typical Italian sub. They also had a monthly sub - called the Dirty Giuseppe which has Italian roast beef, salami, provolone, mozz, and garlic - wow - and it's toasted. She recommended wheat bread for that one - much obliged. The bread is made at a local bakery so I gotta try this out. The desserts looked decadent so they walked me through as they had 4 different cannolis that looked so good, I ended up getting lemon meringue, original ricotta, and the chocolate ganache. I got everything to go but it looked so appetizing as I watched them assemble my order that I had to sit down and take a bite of everything just to be sure - and wow - I'm so glad I did because everything was so delicious! I ended up eating a half of each sub and a couple of bites of the lemon Meringue and the ricotta cannoli - which was spot-on! They tasted so creamy fresh and quality good, I do highly recommend. I must tell you - probably the best cannolis I've ever had, hands down. Oh the bread was superb! Soft goodness, the Don did not disappoint as now I know why it's their top sub but that Giuseppe on wheat was damn awesome I tell ya! Great crunch from the bread, the ingredients blended together so well, the garlic hit the spot. They also make their own Italian and Vinegar dressings that go onto the sandwiches so I naturally had to get some on the side. This place totally won me over as they surprised me with the great service and the quality ingredients. I'm going to have to make my way back to Westland in the near future so I can visit them again and again and again - for some top notch quality deli sandwiches, super soft tasty bread, and those awesome cannolis.

This is the real deal. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The Italian bread and as pound of select meat for $8 bucks is an amazing deal. Forget other "select" brands of deli meats and i suggest you try their deli meats. Awesome quality and cheaper than the "select" brands. While you are in there definitely try one of their sandwiches. They are too die for, meats and cheese cut to order, and you get a lot for a decent price. Last but not least treat yourself to one of their delicious desserts. They have select opening times but i highly recommend a visit!

Great sandwich shop! I would recommend this place to anyone. You can tell the bread is freshly made in house. I got the Don and it was way better than any sandwich I've had at any of the popular sub shops. Next time I'm in I want to try some of the baked goods they look amazing

I could probably eat here every day. Not exaggerating. I love sandwiches, and this place makes many many delicious ones. This place is definitely one of Westlands hidden gems. Everything I've ever ordered from here has been good. They have so many kinds of meats and cheeses that you can't really get tired of it whether you make your own or order one of the special ones. It ain't just a sammich shop either, it's also a deli. So you can get your lunch and a lil somethin for your fridge at the same time. There's coffees, oils, relishes, and they also have all kinds of little desserts that are pretty awesome. I really don't get how this place isn't jam packed every day. Try their sandwiches and you'll know what I mean. Subway? Jimmy Johns? Pfffbbllltt Forget that. Come here.

A big massive corned beef or ham & swiss or Dinty Moore from a place that has fresh bread smell absorbed into the walls. Well, Bread Basket kind of delivered. I had picked out my chosen order while salivating in between work meetings earlier that morning, and ordered online, expecting a quick in-and-out work lunch visit. I got there - and the polite staffer told me that I had to pick something else, because the item was no longer on the menu, but hadn't been removed from the website yet, and hadn't been removed from the menu above his head yet. He handed me a pamphlet menu - which still had the menu item. No big deal. Restaurants can transition. Change is good. I went with a #9 Rachel's Rhyme as my back-up. It's corned beef and turkey breast as a 4-decker club sandwich, with Russian dressing. Positives: the sandwich was huge. I'm a big dude, and I could only eat half. The corned beef was excellent, the turkey was tender. Negatives: the sandwich was $20 and didn't include any side nor drink. That's like "the most expensive lunch with unlimited sides" at some other local spots. It doesn't fully redeem that price point when I got to keep half to eat the next day for lunch when it was cold from sitting in the fridge. Staff was nice, the place was diner-esque, but I won't be in a rush to get back. Most of the menu was $15.99 or higher for a sandwich by itself. I get inflation, but I can still get an amazing buffet nearby for less than that.

I mean, some have shredded cheese on them. I could have just brought my own and asked for a discount. The quality is overall great, however. Amazing clubs, average subs, good chili, amazing coleslaw, deeply disappointing salads. It's hit and miss, but nothing is actively bad. Service is okay. Given that this place is only open for a sliver of time every day I'd expect it to be a little more functional and friendly. Seems scrappy and panicked, even when there's only a few customers. No online ordering, but things are made pretty quickly. Definitely call ahead if you can't wait. You'll be there 5+ minutes per customer ahead of you. Everyone feels like they just started working there, but do well enough. The location is ideal for being in a downtown area. Parking lot just outside, and more spots on the nearby parallel street. Plenty of seating. Cool business card holder in front. Decor is to be hoped for, though. Low brow toxic positivity and sexism isn't my jam, but to each their own.
