Went to Vinnie's Italian Sub Shop in Romulus for the first time the other day! Been meaning to go there forever, but never made it. Went with friend from Carleton at lunch and he's been there many times. He got the 5/1 and I got the Chicken sub with a dill pickle! The atmosphere is really, really good and reminds me of hitting an old italian deli in say New York or something. Both were prepared well and flavor good. I was disappointed thou in the amount of meat put into them (very little and for the price) and the sub was mostly bun!! The cost was like $12 for the sub. Pickle was $2. Would I go again....sure. Would it be my first pick....no! Would it be my first pick is they piled the meat on, like Lile's or somewhere.....YES! They should be challenged to do just that. read more

This is probably the best sub shop in Michigan, although that's only because the others aren't really worth going to. Is it actually good, then? Actually, yes! The Italian subs here are plentiful and filling with a fair enough presentation and taste. You won't find any frills. Bread, meats, cheese, and some vegetables, slathered in sauce. That's the appeal, and why it's good. But, this style does have a limiting factor in that it caps early. The Italian sausage sub is also pretty good. They claim it's "spiced just right," and unlike other places, they actually deliver on that. Pasta salad is okay - worth getting if you're into it, but not if you wouldn't otherwise want any. Service is straightforward and streamlined. Overtly friendly with an assembly line feel, which droves of working men flock to. Cash is king. Seems to be an unspoken practice that you don't pay change if you give a higher bill than your total, and give an automatic tip if you round up to the next number. Watch for this if it matters to you. Location is inconvenient, unless you're airport traffic. You'll loop through a maze of roads to get here as a local depending on what way you're coming from. Cool open area, though, with some low hanging planes every now and again. A long counter to sit at inside and some benches outside. Small and beat up parking lot. Love the business card wall and down-to-earth feel of the joint. There's no reason not to stop in here every now and again, whether you're a local or from out of town. My only complaint is I wish there was a little more lettuce on the sub. The employees were super nice. Found this place during a search on the Yelp app for the highest rated places within the vicinity - - and Vinnie's popped up on the first page. An interesting little find in a most unusual location. This was my first time here and I have to say that I loved the sandwich that I got. I was also very intrigued to see that they have a hard roast beef sandwich that I'm eager to return and give a try. It is really just a no nonsense sandwich shop. There are some areas where you can eat inside on barstools and there is a picnic table area outside adjacent to the parking lot. This place is definitely worth a try. I am eager to give it a second try. Also, note that when you look at the menu it'll say 5/1 or 12/3 this distinguishes the number of slices of meat as the first number and cheeses as the second number! Paint and tiles are a bit drab. Music blares from a single speaker boom box somewhere in the back. The soda machine is bagged and taped and cans are sold instead. Cash only. The menu is simple, written with sharpie on brown cardboard. One kind of soup. A couple subs. Choose the size and number of layers of meat and cheese you want. That's it. I ordered a 6/1 Italian hard loaded (6 inch, 1 layer of salami, ham, pepperoni, and provolone on a hard roll) for $6.25. I received a 10/2 for $8, but I figured I'd get barked at if I corrected it, and the price difference was modest for a lot more food. I was full after eating half the sandwich. The ingredients are good. The sandwich is tasty and big. It's not much more than the sum of its parts like an amazing Italian sub can be, but is definitely good.
