These guys turned out to be auto tech local heroes -- saved our day after AAA and LEXUS failed. My fancy hybrid went dead in harbor parking lot. AAA said it would take 3+ hours to get to us. Lexus dealer in Portland said you need to tow it in (98 miles) but we won't be able to service it for 8 days. Meanwhile my brother-in-law with MS in the seat next to me is beginning to cramp up from the heat, but I can't even get his window open or his wheel chair out of the trunk (electric hatch but no electric.) So I found Car Audio 101 & Auto Physician on Google Maps -- less than a mile away. Alejandro on the phone said "I'll be right there" and he was. 100% mark up on parts. Charged over 300.00 dollars to replace a 40.00 ignition switch on my old Jeep. Claimed over 3 hrs of diagnostics but "made me a deal" and only charged me 1.6 hrs. I called around to other shops. They estimated 1/3 less on the cost for this repair. Be careful out there on 101! Maybe it's because I'm old that they thought I would just give them my money! read more

I brought my van in to have a specific task done to it. I asked them to consult with me about a precise plan before it was acted on. The owner proceeded to do things exactly the way he wanted without asking me any questions. The result is, I have a system that I am not happy with and I spent way too much money. If you are in complete distress about a vehicle being broken down, take it into Newport to get repaired. The shop is only for complete emergencies. Be prepared to pay!!! read more

Was looking to upgrade four car stereo speakers. '101' recommended Infinity replacements at $119.99 per pair (sale price), installation extra. Ended up buying Alpine (better) speakers and installing them myself. The bottom line: these young hoodlums that work in these stores seem to think that older customers are suckers. We're not supposed to know how to find stuff on the web, like the same Infinity speakers '101' was asking $120.00 for - for ~$50.00 per pair (shipped). Funny thing is that if they'd offered to do the job for, say, $325.00 total, I would have gone ahead and done business with them - and they could have made some money. I wish there was a no star option. They scratched the door of my truck. Said the window motor was defective in the box, then said it wasn't. Broke the new neutral safety switch before they even got it on. When I ran out of time and had to leave they glued my old neutral safety switch on with some weird silicone. After writing a review for them on Facebook, TWO years later Karob felt the need to harass me about it for quite some time. Completely unprofessional in every way. Save your money, save your time, go to the valley to the real experts. read more

Got my car back and a few things are broken and business claims they are all my problems and they just went bad even though they worked just fine before I took my car in. This "business" is a complete scam.. they will not take ANY responsibility for not wiring in the stereo and cameras, we have gone threw so much money wasted, this isn't a piece of crap car. I'm talking about the key start messing up so bad that when your driving down the road the lights come on and the car alarm is blaring like it's being broke in to. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD... I've never seen anything like this in my life. Oh also waited there 2 hours one day for them to fix key start.... nope it didn't get fixed I had 2 kids in the car and they didn't even say sorry you had to wait he literally turned for the door and told me they had to keep it longer.. I've never in my life made a review on a business before. Unfortunately my experiences with this place I have to make a review to TRY and save someone... please people be smart.. don't trust with your vehicle! read more

This was only a minimal visit, but they get 5 stars on account of Karob's excellent customer service. If I'm ever in need of mechanic in Lincoln City again, this is the first place I'm calling. I was visiting Lincoln City for the weekend, and about 3 p.m. on a Saturday all of sudden a barrage of warning lights illuminated in my dash. Not wanting to risk breaking down on the drive back to Portland, and assuming that most garages would be closed the next day, I was scrambling to find a mechanic who at a minimum could run a diagnosis on the car engine. I got in touch with Car Care Specialists, but the woman I spoke with told me they had a number of vehicles they were working on that would have to be kept through the weekend, and that she probably couldn't give me more than five minutes to look at my car. When I asked if she knew of any other mechanics open on a Saturday she suggested I try calling Car Audio 101. When I called I spoke with Karob. Immediately I felt good about the call. After describing the problem to him he immediately had a suspicion of what the issue was, and though they were backed up, he thought it would be a quick fix and promised he could make time for me if I wanted to get in that afternoon. When I pulled in it was clear that they were busy. Even so, I only had to wait 10 minutes before Karob turned to my vehicle. While performing the diagnosis on the car, he communicated with me the entire time, breaking things down into layman's terms so I could understand what he was doing, and what was being reported during the diagnosis. I was impressed with the personal attention I received and the enthusiasm Karob showed for his work. In the end it was only a minor issue which he resolved easily for me. The cost was minimal (less than the roadside assistance deductible through my insurance), which I appreciated considering the jam I was in (tourist auto "emergency"). In addition to my invoice, Karob also provided me with a printout of the issue code history that was reported during the diagnostic test; it wasn't necessary, but it was interesting to see and gave me knowledge about my car that I didn't previously have. I'm happy to report that I made it back home and the car ran perfectly the entire way. Although the issue turned out to be minor, having the peace of mind to feel confident on the drive home was a major relief. Furthermore, the whole ordeal was resolved in under an hour, leaving me the rest of the day to enjoy my vacation. Karob and Car Audio 101 saved the weekend! read more

Let me start by saying that I was extremely happy to bring my car in after meeting an employee and talking to him about the issues I was having with my car. We had agreed that I would bring the car in and have tint removed, a new alarm installed, and a leak check done. I was told my car would be ready by the end of the following week, so on Thursday, I called in and they explained that it would take a bit longer due to the tint being difficult to remove. He then tried to quote me a different price from our original one, and we talked that out. Come next Thursday, I call and they explain that the car is STILL not finished! It has been 2-3 weeks, and they are "still working on the tint." I work a lot, so my mother agreed to drop by and check on the car to figure out what the hell is taking so long. Not only did they not allow us to see the car, but they explained that they had not even started the leak check, finished installing the alarm, or fully remove the tint. Frustrated at nothing being completed, and tired of being without a car for so long, we told them to just finish the alarm and we will be back to pick it up the next day. The final product? They installed a different alarm than the one discussed, the driver's side door buttons are not lined up or even working, so I have to unlock my door from the passenger side, and there is a brand new burn hole in my back seat! When i called to discuss my issues, the owner told me "I dont know how the hole could have gotten there," even though heat is required to remove tint, also found a LOT of tiny nicks and scratches from them working, not huge, but irritating... thanks fellas for all your hard work and a job not well done! read more

These guys are awesome! They just replaced my entire multimedia and sound system for me and it looks Factory done. It was no small project. They pretty much had to take apart the whole interior of my Jeep and cut the dashboard to make the new unit fit in, and it's perfect. They took extra time to make sure they did it right and the level of professionalism is hardly seen any more in this day and age. Karob was fantastic with his customer service, being patient with my phone calls and questions. He was great keeping me updated where they were at, and with the size of the job, they got it done in a timely fashion. Now onto the system. Went in asking for a couple of different bids at different levels. They had several lined out in different price ranges like I asked, not pushing any one or the other just kind of lining out the differences. With what I told them I was looking for, I ended up going with the top one. They had it set up awesome. I've had it about a week now and absolutely love it. They obviously spent some time on the sound system, tuning it in, setting it up, and that was my main objective.... it sounds fantastic. Far beyond my expectations. They seriously listened to what I wanted and went above that. The multimedia system, with all the bells and whistles, is just the icing on the cake. Again, far more than even what they told me it could do. Not only did they install it, but they had it all set up, synced my phone, synced everything for me and had it all ready to go when I picked it up. Then Karob spent a good 20 minutes with me and gave me kind of a tutorial and that was nice. Didn't get to meet the rest of the guys in the shop, but like I said, the level of professionalism in their work was outstanding.
