Hated leaving my super trustworthy mechanic/body shop in Oak Park (Danny at Suburban Auto) but Car Doctor Jr has definitely taken their place. Over the last four and a half years I've brought in four different cars including family members cars and all have been handled with premium care. Jeff and Jim have always been overly communicative, never do any work that they don't talk to you and get your approval first, and their team does great work. The pricing is very fair. They will even give a new car a full inspection and give you honest feedback. We had a family member buy a car from Carvana that had some issues that were covered under warranty. CD Jr dealt with the third party completely and updated us every step of the way. We brought it back to Car Doctor Jr. and we're ready to be hit with whatever it cost. because I've had good experiences here in the past with my work truck, I know that whatever it needs, it actually needs. A short time later, were then notified that it was only the brake pads. Car Dr. Jr. swapped them out with new pads and didn't even charge us for the labor because everything was covered under warranty! Check engine light 2019 Chevy Trax, second opinion. History: check engine light with various codes. Problem indicated by code was repaired only to have a new check engine light with an entirely different code appear. Had that repaired, and once again check engine light cones on with yet another ( different) code. Had to get emissions testing so I read good reviews for CDJr and brought it in. They told me there were 3 codes coming up and gave me a price. The cost of the repair was greater than the value of the car, so that helped me decide it was time to get a new vehicle. I've brought it to Elgin Jeep 3 times for service and paid good money for repairs that never stopped the suspension noises I had complained about. The car doctor Junior goes the extra mile after he already went the first extra mile they definitely deserve the great ratings that they received they really help me out with my vehicle to be honest and help me out with both of my vehicles but all one of my vehicles didn't make it all the way radiator blew up but I'm pretty sure it was not just radiator since there was a lot of black smoke underneath. they just gave me the best suggestion and save me money on repairing the old 2001 Xterra dinosaur and at the same time find me a great place to sell my vehicle to a junkyard. One anecdote: My step son took his car to the dealer and was told $7,000 Of repairs were required. I told him To take it to Car Doctor Jr to see what they thought. Car Doctor Jr knows how to align cars! I recently had my tires swapped from winter to summer tires from a big box store. The alignment was off and I took my 22 civic to a local tire chain to align my wheel...however the steering was always off center, even after 3 attempts. Thus, I spoke with Jeff (owns a 10th gen civic) and took my car to him for an alignment. He knew exactly how to straighten the wheel and now my car drives straight as an arrow. read more

Had a minor fender bender and was unable to open drivers side door. It was Saturday of Labor Day weekend and almost no car repair businesses were open. I happened upon CarDoctor and since I was desperate,I went in, even though they aren't an auto body repair shop. I've since forgotten names, but they couldn't have been any more helpful and pleasant. I am really happy with Car Doctor Jr - the service, their prices, their work. My car feels like a whole new fancy schmancy being! I called the doctuh for a next day appointment for front brakes and rotors and they got me in with no problem. I was shocked when I called at how friendly and nice they were on the phone. I'm just not used to that level of customer service from a car shop! I got the same awesome service when I dropped off and picked up my car, as well as when I had phone updates. *car buying tip: if you don't already know, you can take any car off a lot and have a mechanic check it out for you for a fee. Then you can see what they aren't telling you! So after browsing Yelp for a local mechanic that had great reviews, I stumbled upon these guys! They were able to get my juke in that I was looking at buying and check it over right away. After a test drive and inspection, they broke down the details of the accident that Autocheck found but NOT Carfax. *2nd tip:carfax won't show everything. (look on youtube for a way to get an Autocheck report for free) They also mentioned a few other things to be concerned about and in the end I did not buy it. :( The car dealership offered to knock $500 off of what they were advertising as "an accident-free car" but nothing more. No fixing anything or promising anything. They gave me a ton of attitude with that. Even with the issues that I found and the unknowns, I didn't feel it was worth it, plus I was about to go off on him. It might have cost me $75 for a diagnostic check, but it saved me thousands from buying a shit car. read more

Oh my goodness. I can not believe these guys exist....HONEST, RELIABLE and no BS. Let's just say....I'm not the brightest when it comes to cars. This is my first car and I work a lot so I never had the chance to really find a good mechanic to trust. And everywhere I go, I'm disappointed and more confused!! One day I was driving and my splash guard fell off. I had to take it to Firestone to get it removed. They handed me a $900 bill with all the stuff my car needed work on. I was devastated! After moving, getting a new job and COVID .... I felt like I didn't pay attention to my car. Extremely reliable and competent independent local repair shop. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will not BS you like a Jiffy Lube. They will diagnose your car and only tell you what is needed. Repairs are done at a reasonable price. Oil changes are about 30% cheaper than the dealership or other places. As alluded to in another review parking is hard to find, so you may have to park in the back and hike it to the front office. But a little exercise never hurt anyone. read more

I don't leave many reviews, but I think it's important for others to hear it. This company doesn't just talk the talk; they walk the walk. I had been dealing with my previous shop (customer over a decade) for months over squeaky brakes. Since I was such a longtime customer, I didn't consider looking around, but after 8 visits and long sighs every time I called to say the issue was still happening, I decided to bite the bullet and walk away. I had just seen the name in passing on a post for someone looking for a mechanic and remembered the name. So I popped in just to ask if they could take a look. Wow, just wow. Immediately greeted with kindness and concern. Extremely transparent and great communication. Fixed my almost year long issue in the matter of a few hours. So great that I sent my elderly mother there this week and she was almost in tears since she's so scared of being taken advantage of. So, this is a long overdue review. Jeff runs this outfit, but he has a great supporting cast. Its so hard to find a mechanic you can "partially" trust these days. I have been going to this shop for 10 years roughly. About an hour trip one way. Hes the only mechanic i trust cause he gives me all the repair scenarios so i can make an educated decision. Sometimes i try using a local shop to save me a trip but most of the time i call him to compare the estimate im given. I think only one time in ten years did he ever tell me i had a fair quote. Like my wife said recently, you have been going to his shop longer than we have been married... why do you bother with other shops. I'm going to plan the 2 hour round trip from now on. If you are seeing 5 star all the way that's because the people working here are so nice and awesome. I recently got my car rotors and brake pads replaced with a sport line ones. While other dealers and chains like Firestone quoted high price for installation, the car doctor did an amazing job for a reasonable price. I also had a question later about the style of the rotors. Bill was so sweet to remember and call back twice to check if I was happy with the oem rotors if not they can switch it with the vented ones.
