Great staff and service at a fair price, ok waiting room. Friendly and efficient team, good diagnostics too

They used to be good, not sure what happened. I've given this place $5,000 worth of business in the past few years. I came from having experience with high prices from Midas and was immediately comforted with the down to earth staff and reasonable prices. I appreciate that they will always take my car and look at it to tell me the diagnosis rather quickly. However during 2022-2023 I felt like they overestimated the repairs and charged way too much. I feel like they no longer care about the customers best interest, they will flatly ask a repair cost that's double the cost of the car and act like they don't care if you can't afford it. Everything to them is "necessary". I feel like they aren't real anymore. Also the repair quality itself has gone down as my control arm all of a sudden "failed". I have a 17 year old car that is 150k miles. I am no stranger to getting it repaired. I believe that a car that is taken care of will take care of you. Where I take it matters, and unfortunately I no longer can rationalize taking it here. It's disappointing to spend that much money at a shop and for them not to even remember you. I'm not sure what management is doing but it is not the same shop it was just a few years ago. read more

We tried NorthShore Automotive hoping this would be our new auto shop. While they were very friendly and tried to be accommodating, they failed to fix our car properly. We took it back a second time for them to address again, however it was still not functioning properly. They are definitely not a place to take a car for alignment. Northshore Automotive has been my go to auto shop for years. The techs really care about their work and stand by the quality services and skills they provide. Tim, the owner, is the best. He communicates with his customers, priced fair and if he can't do something, he will recommend someone who can. The new front desk girls are amazing. They really have great interactions with their customers and are genuine. They really care about their work and it's obvious by the way they communicate with me as well as how I see them interact with each other and fellow staff. It's always a great experience when I go and get my car taken care of there because I enjoy the conversations with everyone. I love their little snacks as well and so does my daughter! After coming here for over 10 years and counting on reliable, trustworthy service I'd be careful moving forward. Something has definitely changed where they are pushing more and more work, as evidenced by the $6000 'estimate' I received when last brought my car in for a basic oil change. First-and-last-time customer. I called to get a price for an oil and brake fluid change, and gave my car make, year, and model. After we dropped off the car, they called to tell us they'd made a mistake, and that the price would actually be higher than what they told me. They ended up charging us almost twice as much as what they quoted. When I called to follow up, when asked, they said they ran into no unusual problems with the servicing and yet would not honor their telephone quote. EDIT: Tim's response below contains fabricated facts, by my account. When I called to follow up after examining the $400+ bill, he told me that he was not the person I spoke with who gave me the prices in advance. And the guy I did speak with was clear and unambiguous about the prices, gave specifics, did not tell me it was an "estimate," did not say anything about the possibility of charging a different price for the oil and brake fluid change once they had my car. I took contemporaneous notes as I always do when asking for service quotes. Determining the actual price for a specific car's oil and brake fluid change is not, in fact, "rocket science." And whether or not we are in a pandemic does not excuse fraudulent bait-and-switch business behavior. I will definitely bring our cars elsewhere. read more

Recommend you avoid. I used to use NS Auto all the time and I promoted it to many friends. But their management recently changed. Service is poor, expensive. The last time I went to NS Auto they not only didn't fix the problem (over two days), they returned my car with new problems. So I took my car to another shop who fixed the original problem (in 15 minutes), and fixed the new problems (no charge). Avoid NS Auto. read more

Northshore Automotive is hands-down the best car repair business I've encountered. Danae, Kaitlin and Tim were so accommodating and helpful. My friend recommend Northshore and I found them to be honest, thorough and willing to work with the customer at every turn. My only regret is not going there sooner. Their prices are reasonable and far better than the dealership. Northshore Automotive is the only car repair business I will patronize in the future. Northshore came highly recommended. I wanted to trust them but a routine inspection led to them reporting that I needed $5000. I took it to my regular mechanic, who I mistakenly thought had gone out of business and he said I needed none of it. Some of the suggestions weren't outright lies. But some were. On the way home from some errands with my kids, my car started making a horrid noise. I had it towed to North Shore Automotive who, despite it being after hours, read my comments through a web message, promptly diagnosed the problem, and called me first thing. Got an estimate for repairing/replacing my nonfunctioning back bumper parking sensors from a Toyota dealer: $1,435.01. Then I took the car to these friendly guys at NorthShore. Every single time I have been into NorthShore Automotive they have been incredibly helpful and efficient. The staff is so kind and I trust them completely with what work my car needs. Just the other day I called at 4pm asking if I could bring my car in before they closed at 5:30. These people have really been great to work with. They are always very professional, knowledgeable and extra courteous. You don't always find that in a mechanic shop. They were honest with me about what I needed to have done and not, how long I could wait for a certain repair, and things I needed to have done right away. It's hard to find a mechanic that you can trust, especially when you're new to an area. I know I am not going to get ripped off and nickel & dimed, they don't add a bunch of extra charges to the bill. They tell you what they are going to do, WHY (that's important to me), and how much it is going to cost in advance of doing a repair. They are very clear communicators. I can't speak highly enough about these guys. I give them all of my car repair business and I haven't purchased a car from them yet but will definately give them my business when I am ready. I have to give a particular kudos to Ryan and Tim, the owner. They've just been personally great to work with. They are particularly technically knowledgeable and know the business really well - typical common issues with certain vehicles, how much parts costs, fair market prices, etc. This makes me really comfortable that I am making good decisions with my car. These guys are skillful. I wont double it. But let me tell you something. They kept telling me not to send to the toyota dealership to repair my car because dealership charges more. I think not. My car got towed in. They charged me $300+ for the disgnosis alone. Grossinger Toyota charges a flat rate of $67.50. Thats because they dont charge for the labor hourly. And also before the new car engine part reaches your hand, you shouldnt call your clients and tell them to pick up the car at a certain time. Thats just common sense. I went there to pick up my car and turned out it wasnt done and i had to wait for 4 hours there. Engine light went on again a few days after they changed the fuel pump. Sent it back in to inspect. They ran a test and said the problem wasnt big. But it is still a problem. Minor or not. Went back on again today. That is why I come back to the dealership and found out more info about charges. Very disappointing. :-( read more
