There was a lot of misunderstandings and parts with issues. They were trying to fix what was wrong which is a lot. Due to my budget I can only afford one issue every few months. The main issue was coolant leak. They went ahead and fixed the water pump which is a 600 job for free. They were so understanding and pleasant I didn't get it. This is how they are. It wasn't an act. I am now driving a car that has several new parts above original costs. Trust is huge with me and took a lot, but these guys are straight, no angles, I will not be changing a review on Car Fix again, they went out there way. Many places wouldn't put a $600 part in for free. Nate is real, he is a happy good guy. Glad this is behind us and going forward I would trust them with my car and recommend them to everyone. I've used Car-X Libertyville for years and have always found them trustworthy and fair, and above all, they have never created non necessary repairs to push my bill higher . So I came here because my muffler was hanging down... I got quoted $160 for JUST the muffler. I called my dad & he said it was a rip off. They didn't take me to see the car. It actually needed 1/2 and exhaust & a muffler. When I told the employee my dad said I could get it cheaper elsewhere, he kind of exploded on me saying " you ain't gonna find it any cheaper!" Woah!!! Being a single woman not knowing about cars, I feel like these places take advantage of us. I got 1/2 an exhaust pipe plus a muffler at velazquez Bros. In mundelein for $120. Don't go there!!!! very dis-earnest shop, bad experiences!! we drove the car there 2 month ago, they said need need fix timing belt, we spend $400 for that, then last month the car got problem again, i drove there, they said not the same problem, it is something else, first , they said was transmission, and don't know it could be fixed or not, 2nd time said it is computer board, still don't know how much to fix and how long, and told us don't call them , they will call us if they have solution, our car sit there to 2 weeks, in the end, told us need to spend $1600 to fix! ridiculous!! the shop don't have knowledge to identify exactly what problem it is, but keep saying this or that in order to keep u waist your money. read more

Worst auto experience I have ever had. All I needed was a new tire. Just one. I called a day ahead and set up an appointment and ordered a specific tire. I was told that the tire was ordered and would be there the following day, and was instructed to bring my car in the next day and the tire would be swapped out so I could pick it up after work. The following day I brought my car in and went to work. Midday I received a call (assuming to confirm the tire swap was complete) where the same employee I had spoke to yesterday was telling me that he didn't order the tire and that now the earliest he could get it was the following week. He then offered to tire match for me for more than double my original quote on the tire I ordered. Just ridiculous. When I asked for a discount of any kind to make up for the inconvenience I was mocked. Go literally anywhere else. read more

Went for an oil change a while back. No issues. They told me I needed new air valves/TPMS sensors on both passenger side tires. Checked around for pricing and they were comparable so went back to have the work done. Air pressure light came on a couple days later. I didn't call them about it right away because I figured the computer needed to be reset. Meanwhile, got a flat tire (rear passenger) so went to Duxler in Libertyville to get new tires. Duxler told me the tire sensors weren't working. Called Car-x and spoke to Manzoor (Manny) Ahmad. He was immediately defensive. He blamed me for breaking the sensors they put on when I got a flat then he blamed Duxler for doing something when they changed the tires. He argued and talked down to me. Long story short (too late), had to go back 4 times to get my sensors reset (once) and changed (3 times) before they finally decided to use Mazda parts (instead of universal). So far, so good but I will NEVER go back there for anything. I've told my family and they have lost several customers because of this treatment. read more

Where to start.... I had a single vehicle collision with my SUV (hit a larger tree branch while driving on an unlit country road in the middle of the night while going 50mph). Somehow, the body of my suv was intact, but the entire inside of it was dented in (my vehicle went over the branch so it made sense). It damaged the cooling system, radiator, cooling fan, etc. Anywho, a friend of mine recommend CarX so I went by my friends recommendations and went with them. I called and asked if the tow was at no charge if I got the car fixed there. Owner Manny who I've solely spoke to the entire time said that they would not if I ended up getting my car fixed there. I got it towed to them, they looked at it, and he gave us an estimate of around $1500. My father said it was a realistic charge for the damages so we said ok. Our insurance rep went in and the claim got approved. Manny called me telling me we were going to need to pay somewhere in the $800-$900 I believe, I know it was $300-$400 more than my $500 deductible. I asked why so much and Manny said it was because the insurance would only cover used parts, and if I wanted new parts it was gonna cost me extra. My husband called the insurance and it turns out that what Manny said wasn't true. The insurance was willing to pay for new parts, CarX just needed to buy the parts from the insurance itself, but CarX wanted to used their own vendor so they were trying to charge us extra instead. After we called them and said we were not going to unnecessary pay extra, now CarX (manny who I spoke to) was trying to charge us for our $500 deductible, a $95 inspection fee, and for the tow which I was told that would be at no charge if I got my vehicle fixed at their shop. Due to their shadiness, in both the unnecessary up charge for the parts, and the attempt of charging for the tow, I just told my husband I wanted my SUV towed to another shop as my trust with CarX was now ZERO. Husband had CarX fix the vehicle anyway, as we were renting a car temporarily and we were already and week in of our vehicle being in the shop. I noticed my vehicle was not functioning the same when I got it back, and now, three to four weeks later, my car just broke down in the middle of Chicago while having my 2 year old and 10 month old in the vehicle with me. It started leaking coolant, it overheated and started smoking. The very same issue carx got new parts for and "fixed". Oh, and I noticed a nice round dent on the hood of the vehicle that was NOT there before I got it towed to their shop. I took "before" pictures for claims. I ran OVER the branch, never touched the top/hood of my vehicle. The dent seems to be from a gray/metal circular hallow object about 7-8 inches in diameter. It's a perfect outline of a circle. Was that payback for speaking up and not paying the extra $400? Besides the extra damage I got on my car when returned, right now that my vehicle is leaking coolant and is smoking (not drivable) I have to pay out of pocket for a tow and try to find a way back home with my two babies because the insurance offices are closed on Saturdays. AWESOME, not!!!! Never again will I go or recommend this shop, I will try to have my insurance have my vehicle fixed at another shop if possible. So 6 months ago I went in for an oil change and the cap was never put back on. Last night I was on my way home and my car started to smoke, I pulled over and noticed the cap was missing. Last time car was touched under the hood was at Car-x. I called and spoke to Brian R the manager and explained to him my situation. I asked him to drain my oil and the run one cycle through it then once more that would be the oil that stayed in the engine. He told me to come on in and we would get it taken care of.and at first he was kind told me to come in and they would take care of it for me. Upon my arrival Brian was very disrespectful and rude he did not say a word to me and walked outside, popped my hood, walked away got a cap, put in on sprayed some liquid on the parts with oil and sloppily wiped it away.(still a mess under the hood) Then he proceeded to close my hood so i asked him about running oil through it, as when i got to the shop my car was smoking out of the hole where the cap was missing. He was kind enough to inform me that it was my fault for not noticing that the cap was missing sooner, and since i was due for a oil change I should just pay for it. (clearly not going to make the same mistake twice) I left and went to MIDAS I definitely recommend this place never had a problem. I have always taken my car's to them just happened to be passing Car-x and stopped in. Obviously I am dreadfully regretting that mistake never going back. read more
