When you follow the online prompts to sell a car, you think that CARMAX will get the job done…read more I wound up selling my car to a junker. The online tool stated that they would pick up my car, for a $199 fee. On the day of the appointment they reneged on that offer and they could not provide me a good reason. I was told, "It could be a number of factors." I filled the online application and was offered $1700. When my daughter arrived at CARMAX, (having payed $115 for a ten mile tow), CARMAX said they could not take the car because it hadn't been registered in Va. The car had been parked, legally, at my am daughter's home. The DMV was notified and plates, tags were removed. The car had been parked for 2 years. I've seen CARMAX in Spotsylvania County purchase a used 'car, that had not been registered for 18 months. They told my friend not to worry about it- that they'd take care of it. She was purchasing another car from them. I guess that makes CARMAX's decision much easier. No one at the CARMAX in Midlothian could make that decision. I wound up selling the car well below that offer of $1700 - but I had to get it done because my daughter sold the home where it was parked. This leaves a very bad taste in my mouth about CARMAX. My older vehicle had 72k miles on it (and was a 2006). The hood of the car needed painting - no body damage, no accident. A good auto, with title in hand. When I purchase my car, I will not use CARMAX.

I arrive to take my belongings out of the vehicle. *The bank informs me that Scott pulled my contract because my address was incorrect (untrue at the time I lived there the address is on my drivers license)and and I lied about employment. I informed them that i was self employed and asked if I STILL HAD A STUB FROM THEM NOT IF I STILL WORKED THERE. If you look at the pictures of my contract there is nothing pertaining to Lyft or Uber only commercial use. Which it is not. If you look at the owners response he (she?)states they don't allow it. Poor owner just responds to reviews and has no clue what's going on with their business. Scott only did his "due diligence" after realizing there is nowhere in the contract that states I cannot Uber or Lyft. It only became an issue after the car needed servicing. 2 months after I purchased the vehicle he decided to call my job and check my address. The proof is in the pudding ladies and gents. Avoid J. D Byrider at all costs. The only positive is it won't reflect as a repo. Thank you JD and good riddance! ! *(CNAC quote of the day "Scott bullsh*tted you, we did not void your contract he did".)

They said they have to raise the price because they have a 50% return rate so they have to raise prices. I was told all I needed was. $500 down and then they said my first 4 payments would be $250 towards the additional $1000 down payment. I'm in the process of writing to the attorney general, the Better Business Bureau and the motor vehicles complaint department. 3 times the value and I have a laundry list of items that need to be fixed. Big mistake

After retiring from the military following a 38 year career, I decided to purchase a new Ram Truck…read morein January 2025. This was going to be the third Ram that I have owned and my "retirement" gift. My wife and I went to Whitten Brothers Ram on Midlothian Turnpike and found the exact truck I wanted. A solid black 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel with all the options. After finishing up the paperwork, we went out to drive the vehicle home. I should have suspected something when we came out and the vehicle was already running but, I did not. We drove the vehicle home and that is when the problems started. A few mornings later, I came out to go to work and the truck was dead as a doornail. I had to use the manual key to open the door. I contacted my salesman, Willy, at the dealership and they towed it in. After trouble shooting, they replaced both batteries. When I went to pick the truck up from the dealership, it would not start remotely or by pushing the start button inside. I decided to leave the truck at the dealership until they could fix that problem. A few weeks later we received a call from the service manager asking us to come in for a meeting. We go in for the meeting and he proceeds to tell us that it is a "known" problem on the 2025 Ram Trucks will not start on their parking lot due to some kind of interference. The work around is to place the key fob in the back passenger side seat to start the vehicle. At this point, I just wanted the truck back and decided to go with his solution hoping that a fix would come soon. Fast forward to May 2025, while driving in traffic on Interstate 95, all lights on the dash illuminated for 1 to 2 seconds, adaptive cruise control kicked off, the dash then went totally blank for 2 to 3 seconds and slowly came back to life with the fuel gauge showing zero when there was ¾ of a tank prior to this event. I took it in for repair and they found the power wire for the left rear midrange sensor was chaffed through. They repaired the truck, and I picked it up. Unfortunately, that repair did not fix the problem. This has occurred several different times. Originally on May 23 then subsequently on June 9, June 10, June 27 and August 28, 2025. I took it into Whitten Brothers Service Department for the fourth time for this specific problem on September 12, 2025. I picked it up on October 17, 2025 and I was told that there was a software problem but they has updated it and it should be good to go. The truck worked fine until May 12 and May 14 2026, it did the exact same thing as last year except it now shifts into neutral while still driving down the highway. This causes me to have to coast to the shoulder, completely stop, shift into park and back into drive before merging back onto the highway. Throughout the year and half that I have owned this truck, it has been in the shop for well over 4 months for this problem. It has been in the service department a week for this last episode, and I do not expect it to ready anytime soon. Bottom line, I do not recommend buying a Ram Truck or any vehicle from Whitten Brothers.

What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I had already authorized and paid $40,000 for a new engine, yet the smaller components that should have been replaced while the engine was out were ignored. These parts cost very little, and I would have gladly paid for them at that time. Instead, I am now facing additional expenses and a vehicle that is not functioning properly.those bad engine mounts was not mentioned to me at all !! This level of service is unacceptable. I expected professionalism, transparency, and quality workmanship from a Mercedes-Benz dealer, and this experience has been the complete opposite. If this issue is not resolved promptly and fairly, I will ensure that my experience is shared publicly, including through well-known influencers, so other customers are aware of the practices taking place at this location. I am requesting immediate attention, a thorough review of the work performed, and a reasonable solution.
