Took my 1966 El Camino in today to install a "retro-sound" stereo along with JL Audio subwoofers and JL audio amplifier. This car was a frame off restoration with a $14,000 paint job, so I didn't need some idiot screwing things up. George did a friking awesome job and this high tech deck with Bluetooth, USB and extras looks like the 1966 original radio, maintaining the look of the era. George and his team members even hooked up my existing "base" gain knob in the dash. Wow. Special shout out to Daniell Beyrooty who talked me in to doing the work there. Location installed a backup camera several years ago, but it stopped working. I brought it in to have wiring and unit inspected; was told wiring was fine but camera was broken, and received eye-watering quote of $650 to install new camera. Refused and inspected wiring myself to discover their original installation was cheaply spliced in the rear wheel well; the red lead was corroded and broken off from exposure to elements. After a quick re-connect camera was up and running again. Draw your own conclusions, but I will not be bringing my vehicles to Car Toys in the future. read more

Iam not really a person to talk bad about place but I feel like I was let down pretty bad about this outfit I took my Ford 2020 F350 I needed to get an oxalic installed in my vehicle. I dropped it off on a Saturday. Got a phone call from my service person in that store. Tell me to go ahead and pick up the truck at 5:30. couple hours later I get up phone calls saying it won't be ready till 630. I show up nobody in the front desk waited for about an hour. Finally went in the back. Talk to a gentleman. Awesome where my truck was. He says they're having issues with the truck and it won't start until Sunday, which would've been the next day. I said OK that's fine. Comes around. They would not give me a call. I had to give them a call got a hold of service salesman tell me that they're gonna need the truck till Wednesday of next week. I said fine just get the truck started. It comes around. I give him a call. Nobody answered. Left them a message they finally. a call back they told me that the truck will not start. They do not know what the issue is and I need to get it towed out of there and taken to a Ford dealership on my dime. I was pretty upset, but I kept my cool and I told him the wrong on how they're handling the situation. The guys name was Alex and I believe the front guy was Ryan. finally I got my truck out of there. They said they refunded my money. No money never got refunded to me. Guys are a bunch of liars horrible place a business. Had a radio, in-dash antenna, and front and rear facing cameras installed. Install took about two hours in this small car but the installer, Clayton, was very friendly and helpful and explained my new toy. Got home and the radio would not lock onto stations. Returned two days later and they quickly and courteously corrected the problem and gave me my money back for the antenna. Friendly, courteous, and concerned about the quality of their work. 5 stars read more

I would give this business less than one star if I could. I warn anyone to not give these people business whatsoever. I spent almost 2000 dollars on a subwoofer a stereo system and new speakers. One of my speakers is almost already blown out and I've had it less than two months the subwoofer cords are sticking out under my steering wheel and my knees keep hitting them when I drive and they are sticking out on the side of my back seat as well. The stereo system they installed is also damaged glitching every time I switch to a new screen. When they went to install my subwoofer, the installer snapped off a piece of my gear selector and then said my key wouldn't come out of the ignition then proceeded to completely dismantle the inside of my car to fix this issue all the while saying that the snapped off piece was a preexisting condition that needed to be seen by a mechanic. Then they told me that I was now going to have to put my emergency brake on every time I parked my car because of this preexisting problem that obviously wasn't existing before I dropped off my car. I was supposed to pick up my vehicle at one I wasn't able to pick up my car until they closed, I had to cancel all of my appointments that day because of them damaging my car. I called the manager the next day and the only response I got from them was to bring in my car again for them to look at the broken gear shifter they damaged I told them I'd rather do anything else than let them touch my car again. I took it to a mechanic that weekend and they said it was a good thing I brought it in because the completely installed my gear shifter wrong and the piece looked like someone had put so much pressure on it snapped off definitely not from normal wear and tear. Then they broke my gear shift solenoid as well and had to pay five hundred dollars out of pocket to fix their mistake. I warn you do not go to this place of business unless you want broken useless merchandise and a car bill from a mechanic. read more

Husband purchased a new stereo and amp and was told install would take 4 hours (this was 3:00 pm) but it would be completed by 7:30 and they would call when it was done. By 7:00 pm we had not received any calls so we decided to just head to the store. At 7:30 pm we went into the store and were told it wasn't done yet and they needed another hour. My husband sat in the store alone for multiple hours without any communication from the techs (only ones there working at those hours). Finally around 11:15 pm a tech came in and said they were "almost" done. Just after MIDNIGHT the job was finally completed. However, on the way home it was realized that some speakers weren't working, back up camera wasn't working and steering wheel radio controls weren't working. Next morning husband calls the store (9:15 am) and they apologized and said to bring the car back. Arrived to the store around 9:45 and was told it would be a 2 hour fix (there was a cable needed that did not get put in) and they were aware that this replacement needed this specific item. They assured him it would be the top priority with no more than a 2 hour wait. After 2 hours he was told they needed another hour to 1.5 hours to complete the job. This was our first experience with this store/business and we will not be going back or recommending anyone to go there. It felt like they didn't actually start anything on the car until we showed up at 7:30 pm and instead of being honest, they just avoided all communication. read more

The shift manager was rude, didn't acknowledge us for a while when dropping off the car and when we were trying to let him know we were dissatisfied. He said since we got this on Groupon that his guys are not getting paid. Well then pay them or take your business off Groupon. Ryan the manager said I could take it back in but that's more days without my car. Overall so dissatisfied with this place. I took my car in and every time one of their techs tells me the boxes weren't built to spec!!! WTF!? I wish I could give two separate reviews for Car Toys, because some of what they do is AWESOME, and some of what they do seems borderline criminal, deceptive at best. First the good: 1. Their prices on hardware are VERY competitive. 2. They have a great selection. 3. They have working demonstrator models so you can listen before you buy. 4. Most of the sales staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. 5. Their house brand of "Quinn Acoustics" are some of the best sounding speakers I've ever heard (and are what I wound up buying). 5. Each of the installers I talked to (especially the gentleman with the long beard) was SUPREMELY helpful, courteous, and friendly. 6. They have a great return policy. If you only need hardware, DEFINITELY STOP IN HERE!!! You won't find a much better experience. Now for the deceptive and bad (and why I installed all of my gear myself instead of having them do it - I've done tons of installations over the years, but my aging body doesn't do as well as it used to with the awkward positions required). Their installation prices they list are absolutely deceptive and in my opinion, border on being fraudulent. There are copies of the installation pricing charts hanging on the walls as well as on their web site. As an example, installation of a two-channel or monaural amplifier is listed as costing $110 (as of this writing, which is 5/19/18). The description provided is: "Standard installation includes: mounting the amplifier in an agreed upon location in the rear, trunk or under a seat, making all connection [sic] to the radio and speakers, installation of 10ga or 8ga amplifier installation kit, fused connection at the battery and proper ground connection". When I started down the path to get this done, though, the quote was $220 (not counting the cost of the amplifier installation kit). Why? Well, unless you take the seat out yourself, they charge $50 to remove and reinstall the seat. They also charge a $40 fee to disassemble the dashboard to get to the back of the radio to make the connections. They also charge a "shop parts" fo 10% of the total labor cost to cover shop materials. This is is particularly sneaky because, for this amplifier installation, the shop fee would be $20 if I had them do all the work, but would only be $11 if I removed the seat and disassembled my dashboard myself. There is no difference in the shop materials used, it is just a sneaky way for them to milk their customers for more money. The same thing applied to speakers with separate woofers and tweeters. The pricing chart says that they charge $150 to install these...unless your factory tweeter location happens to be in the dash, in which case, they charge an extra $35 for that. None of these extra charges are listed on the pricing charts anywhere. The only disclaimer states, "*Some cars require additional parts to be purchased separately". If they at least stated that prices "start at", or "there are extra fees on top of these prices", it wouldn't be quite as bad, but being sprung with installation fees double that of their pricing chart is inexcusable. It is also VERY important to note that the installers "cut into the factory wiring" (their words, not mine) to do the installations instead of using adapters. When I advised that I may be selling the car in a year or so and would want to reinstall the factory gear before I sold it, they said that this would not be possible because the factory speaker connectors, etc. would be gone. Also very odd is that there is no way to schedule an appointment for an installation. It is strictly done on a walk-in basis. This left two potential customers while I was there being told to come back to try another day, while two others were getting more and more irritated because (overheard by one when asking for an update on when her vehicle would be complete), "Another hour is what you told me an hour ago". This is horrible customer service. I LOVE my Quinn Acoustics speakers, and highly appreciate the unsolicited advice and tips given by the installers when I opted to install the system myself. Again, if you're just after hardware, Car Toys is fantastic. If you're considering having them install for you, go elsewhere. read more

Got a deal for total purchase on Thursday..paid half of the total bill with invoice and receipt..On my way back in on Saturday to get installed..with my small children and wife to drop off my car..got a text from the Supervisor Ryan that they wouldn't be putting in the 12 inch subs I paid for and instead be getting 2 10's but they would be making box for it to offset cost..First..we already had a box ready to use..second I didn't purchase 10's I purchased 12's ..3rd he notified me on my way there when he had several days to tell me this thinking I would just take whatever he wanted to switch since I was on my way. Came in to install a front and rear dash cam that I received as a gift from a family member. I walked in with no appointment and they took care of me on spot and had me out of there within an hour! They installed the cameras in a great position and hid the wiring so it's barely even noticeable that there are cameras. Great service from Clay, cool guy with decent price negotiation. Payed a little more than I was expecting to but I have no regrets, especially knowing that they have me covered if the wiring ever gets crimped or damaged. Highly recommended audio shop! read more

Had a groupon for interior detailing. Dropped off car right at 9:00AM with appointment and they ensured me car would be done by 3:00. I call at 2:00pm and ask when it will be ready, they tell me 3:30. I show up at 3:30 and they say the car is ready, however they had a fan inside drying out my car seats even though supposedly they had finished the 30 min ozone treatment (that requires car to be airtight and is done after everything else). I inquire if ozone was done as its included in the Groupon & they say "oh come back in 30 minutes well do the ozone". Now we come back at 4:00pm and look at interior where there are many spots that had not been vacuumed /blatantly missed. When i brought this to their attention they said it would be another 15 minutes to get the spots they missed. You know how when you were a little kid the doctor would talk to you all buddy buddy and explain things extra slow, simply, and kindly so you could understand but then would talk over your shoulder to your mom about the adult stuff like you weren't there? Oregon has this bizarre archaic culture where after two years I've finally figured out they think they're being nice while they treat women as less than children. The Saudis think they're honoring their women by covering them in black abayas all but their eyes, too. I could write reviews about how I'm treated every day in every store here every time I ask a male store clerk a question. But this example was just too good to pass up. Brazen explained the stereo head units and ultimately recommended the simplest one so "I wouldn't have to fuss with settings." I asked him about that and he used the analogy of the difference between Android and Apple. Ok so he's trying to save me hassle, I'll let it slide. Scott however... hoo boy! I said it had been a while since I'd had a sound system but that didn't slow his roll. I wanted a 4 channel camera system, an upgraded cockpit sound, and a lightbar. He said "yeah I'll set you up with this kind that goes right here". He explained everything suuuper simply "these little ones are called tweeters". Annoyed but so used to this. It happens all the time. 2 weeks ago a super "helpful" man took it upon himself to proactively "splain" to me how a window works -I certainly didn't ask. But I did ask Scott a question and he spoke over my shoulder to explain to Brazen the answer to my question. He never addressed any information to me. They then took me inside and started to work on an estimate? They didn't think I needed to know about their men's work (good thing someone "splained" to me what an estimate is 2 days ago). Actually I don't think it was an estimate, when I asked Brazen he said they were figuring out the cost. When I was a teenager we'd spend hours in the display rooms listening to the different speakers to choose which ones we liked for our systems. Apparently I hold such an honorable place in society that men just do all that dirty work for me so I don't have to lift a finger or a brain cell or make a decision for myself. I mean who's got energy for that when you're tottering around on feet that were bound into the size of a fist, in a dress wrapped so tight you can hardly breathe, with your hands hid, face painted, and head down. Very happy! Brian was real knowledgeable and easy to work with. Got headlight restoration and remote start. Headlights were insanely hazy and light couldn't come through really. Great service. Responsive, and reasonable pricing to get the speaker system connected on my boat.

I just had my 4th or 5th car done at this particular Car Toys and even though they do sometimes take longer than estimated to complete a job, I've never had an issue (and certainly not one they weren't willing to rectify) with their quality of work when it comes to installation, especially on complex newer vehicles with factory systems. Steve, the shop manager (and the only guy I'll let work on my cars) knows his stuff and does super clean work, and I'm an (admitted) perfectionist and consequently, very picky. I don't mind waiting longer and paying more for his quality of work and attention to detail, when it's done right it's done right and aside from equipment failure, will serve you well. This type of installation work is a craft, skilled trade in other words. If you're in a big hurry and can't wait for quality, pick another time to have the work done. Most recently, on a brand new 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium w/Premium Sony sound, Steve installed a 12" JLW3V3-4 subwoofer along with an LC2i/ACR1 for OEM Integration, a JL 500/1 Class D Monoblock Amp, and also ran all power, ground and remote through the vehicle. He also deadened the panels and trunk with Dynamat, and did the license plate as well. Turned out fantastic, perfect job. And this is integrating with the factory 390 watt Sony amplifier and NOT having to use a 40amp relay. He did the same quality of work on my 08 Acura TL, which is the epitome of a garage queen and I won't let anyone work on except myself. Keep up the good work, thanks again. read more

Total lack of professionalism at this business--in every way. We went there to purchase a car stereo. This was the first day they opened after a two month closure due to COVID-19. There were signs posted about social distancing. Employees basically disregarded them. The salesman assigned to us, Nick, showed us options in the sound chamber. He wore a bandana tied loosely at the back of his head. As he talked, the bandana slipped below his nose and then below his mouth. He made no attempt to re-cover his nose and mouth until we called it to his attention. Nick showed us how to turn off unwanted programs and he said this would be done at installation. We chose a radio and paid for it. As it was out of stock, we were told we would get a call in 3-4 days. We called after 5 days and learned they received our radio the day before--but no one bothered to call us to tell us. We went in the next day for installation. They had no record of our payment! We showed them our credit card proof of purchase. It took several staff to find that "Nick bamboozled the computer." We asked them to have the installer remove the unwanted stations that Nick showed us was possible. The man with a bun on the top of his head said it was not possible. We argued that we witnessed Nick do it in the demo room! We left our car for installation and added a SiriusXM. We were told that we would get a $70 rebate on the unit. We returned to pick up our car after the radio was installed. Despite signs everywhere about social distancing, there was a group of a family of 5-none wearing masks. We wore masks at every visit. Some staffers wore masks--others did not. A woman (the manager) walked around without a mask while eating her lunch with a fork out of a glass bowl--freely moving around the entire store. Pens were in a paper cup for all customers to grab to sign papers--without any system for sanitizing after use. Again we asked that the unwanted stations be removed. The man with the bun suddenly had a flash of remembering how to do it. He walked out to our car and proceeded to push buttons to accomplish this--based on our telling him what Nick had shown us. When we returned home, we realized we were not given any paperwork for the SiriusXM rebate. Also, the installation itself is sub-par because there is space above the radio and the dashboard. This will require us to return to make it fit right! All in all, this was a very disappointing experience in every interaction with this business. All staff were unprofessional. There is no dress code here--some employees were sloppy-looking as though they just rolled out of bed and came to work. Universal knowledge of products is apparently absent as it was a guessing game among staff about the products they sell. Their lackadaisical approach to the COVID-19 crisis was worrisome to us--despite company signs posted and tape on the floor. Our installer did not wear a mask at all. We must return to have the installation fixed. We have a high-end car. This is not acceptable. We also need to obtain the information on the Rebate that they should have given to us. In final, what was missing in all three encounters at Car Toys was any kind of friendliness, welcoming, warmth or smiles. They treated customers walking into their store with indifference. No eye contact, milling about and shuffling around. One would think that after a 2-month closure they would welcome customers with a smile and ask, "How can we help you?" Thanking a customer for their business too would go a long way in leaving a good feeling for repeat business. Both did not happen. read more

I would recommend never going to this place. I took my truck there in December for an alarm and to install stereo equipment. They kept my truck for a few days, when i got it back parts to the sterring column was on the floor. The vents in the dash were broken out ( the pieces are missing ), and the stereo components aren't installed they way i asked for. A week later i find out the alarm isnt working so i came back. The tech admitted to me he "read the schematics wrong". He wired it in backwards so the lights didnt flash. They also only wired one door. After that i was charged additionally to wire the passenger door. A couple weeks later the alarm isnt working, again. I come back and was told its a loose wire. Then again a couple weeks later the alarm isnt working. I go back telling them to fix the alarm and dash. I was told the tech used old parts for the door pin and i would need to go buy a new one from the factory. The manager also told me he doesnt believe his guys broke my dash. During this last time back to address the alarm, tue techs pull my truck into the bay. I have a dash cam, and it records one tech ask the other what the truck is here for. The tech says "blank" scored himself another damage claim and fucked up all the vents". He then reaches up and unplugs my camera. They reinstall one of the vents, but the other one has missing pieces and cant be fixed. I tell the manager i want my money back or the stuff fixed. He files a claim with cartoys and the claim is quickly denied. I've called corporate several times and they dont return my messages. Also there claims for live customer service support is not true. You have to leave a message and hope someone calls you. I want my money back . read more

What a rude group of people! It started on the phone--a woman grumpily asked what we needed, and got very upset when we asked about more than one item over the phone. When we arrived to the store and picked up said item we inquired about, we immediately noticed it was all taped up. After opening the package we noticed it was missing the required screws. We took the package back in to the store and the same woman argued with us that screws weren't included, and she had already checked to make sure it was packaged the way it was supposed to be. She finally backed down when we showed her the packaging that stated screws WERE included. Luckily they handed over the necessary screws, but it wasn't without a lot of arguing and making us feel like we definitely were not welcome in the store. I am so sad and disappointed with the detailing job that was done on my car. I brought it in yesterday, and got it back this afternoon. There are so many spots inside my vehicle that don't look like they even got a once-over. There's dust, and other stuff I'm wiping off now with just a basic armor all wipe. Around the bottoms of the seats several spots missed. Edges of things not done. My glovebox and center console don't look like they were even vacuumed out. Door edges and holders. I will add some pictures below. The outside was done, and I think that was at least done more thoroughly, but the inside was the part I really cared about getting done well and it was not at all. I payed close to $300 after tip. I definitely do not recommend this business for detailing. I am so unbelievably bummed. I do not have experience with them as far as any other service goes. read more

Subaru dealer recommended I get s new stereo for my Bluetooth issues, and recommended this Car Toys. Got the new stereo, but still Bluetooth problems. Turns out the problem was my phone, not my stereo! But that's Dick Hannah's fault, not Car Toys. So Car Toys swaps them back out, no problem. Danielle did a great job helping me find the real problem, and was great about re-installing my old unit. Wouldn't have figured it out without her. When I actually need a new stereo, I'll go here to get one. read more

First and Foremost I want to say Thank You Brad who made things happen and Lance who was the Magician behind it all. Great work Lance on both my vehicles. This location not sure what to say, if you go in and ask for Brad and he isn't there come back another day or find someone else. All the things that happen up front don't happen. Customer Service skills in this building are a solid 1/10. Just horrible!!! You can stand in there store for over an hour and NOBODY will acknowledge you. No Love. But are quick to take money. If you pay in cash(deposit) be ready to fight. Both my vehicles I paid a deposit and when both cars got done they wanted FULL payment. I had to fight twice - like Dude I already paid you "it doesn't say that on your receipt", fuck your system I paid you!!!!!!!! Like be ready to defend yourself. Also I am going to let you know that when you get windows tinted it is normal to have Bubbles, so they tell me. They never gave me that warning.....even though it is normal. TBD. A week!! TBD.
