I'm back with another amazing experience! Car toys-Rockwall failed to help me. I came here to Car Toys-Lewisville and JOHN heard all about my situation and spent his entire day fixing my remote start system. Not only did he fix it, but he just went back and completely REMOVED the old wiring that was a hack job and rewired and brand NEW remote start system. I've been dealing with this issue for almost 2 years now (car not starting, new batteries, new keys) so for John to ask little questions and just dedicate his day to my warranty item was such a relief. Walked in and was greeted (barely) the guy asked if I needed help looking for something specific, I said yes I told him what I was looking for at that exact moment a person walked in and he said one sec and asked her the same question but started to actually help her. I said cool, maybe she's picking up...nope dropping off her car. At this point I'm waiting, then a second person came in and started helping them. Mean time I'm was standing waiting for some help, didn't see what I was looking for so I just walked out. There was a second person on the counted don't know what he was doing but didn't offer to help nor did either acknowledge me as I walked out.. probably the worst experience I've had here so far, I'll be buying else where and doing the install myself. Bought a Alpine head unit from Car Toys 4 months ago and it recently needed a firmware update so I called them to schedule an appointment to get it fixed. They said they would get me taken care of and made me wait 9 days till they could get me in cause they were so busy. When I got there they wanted to all of a sudden charge me $90 to update the firmware when the guy on the phone said he would get it taken care of for me. Absolutely ridiculous! read more

Brought in my car to get a CarPlay radio and remote start installed. I was told I was going to have to leave my spare key taped up under the dash so the remote start would work but I asked about the spare key since they are almost $1000 and will allow anyone who breaks into the car steal the car without breaking the steering column. When asked about key bypass module he told me they didn't make one and that in the 30 years he's been doing it, taping up a key under the dash was the only option. Was quoted 4-6 hours to install so told them I'd drop it off the next day. The installer called me at lunch and asked why I didn't do the bypass module and I told him why and they said they would use it and I thought everything was good. I show up at closing to find out they only didn't do the remote start because the guy (turned out to be the tape under the dash guy) went to pick it up and never came back that day. I found screws they didn't put back in my car, they didn't tuck the microphone under the headliner and it falls down in the windshield while I'm driving when the mic falls off the tape. 2 days into it the radio gets stuck on backup camera then locks up into a black screen of death so I bring it back, they put a new radio in, this one does the same thing. I can pull the fuse and use the radio for a day or so and it locks up again. I've taken it back to 4 times and it still sucks. read more

In an effort to surprise my wife who was out of town, I wanted to do something nice for her and get a headunit installed in her car that had CarPlay/Android Auto. Enter John from Car Toys. I was ready to take advantage of the Labor Day special for the entry level Pioneer unit. However after he explained some very important differences I opted in for the higher model. Super down to earth and explained all the needed parts. He quoted me 3-4 hours for the installation because there were already a number of cars ahead of my wife's. I walked to get brunch at a nearby Outback Steakhouse and continued to play on my phone until the waitstaff started giving me the stink eye. I made it 2 hours but knew I had some more time to kill but decided just to head back to Car Toys. The windows on the install bay are really cool because you can see the techs do the installs. My wife's car was already getting worked so I meandered around the showroom, chatted up with another customer and played on my phone some more. Within 30 minutes, the installer popped into the showroom and asked if I was the one who brought in the Subie. I replied "yup" and he explained all the nuances about the new stereo and even said he adjusted the EQ. As soon as I stepped in the car, I was a bit jealous at the audio quality. Let me preface this review by saying I don't know very much about cars and accessories and that as someone who really enjoys technology, I was seriously looking at buying a 2019 car so I could have the modern luxuries of Apple CarPlay and a backup camera. That's when I'd heard an ad while at work about Car Toys selling accessories that had Apple CarPlay with installation to your vehicle. I was worried my old 2012 Scion XD wouldn't even be able to fit a modern display stereo but the employee I spoke to over the phone assured me it would be a non-issue. I visited the store before my shift at work, expecting to get up sold on things I didn't need or taken advantage of due to my lack of knowledge. I also expected to have to come back the next day in order for them to install it. I'm happy to say that all of my expectations were wrong. I was taken care of someone named "Big John" who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and took the time to explain every question or worry I had about upgrading my car. He never tried to upsell me or get me to buy other products. He just pointed me in the right direction. I appreciated this so much that I ended up deciding right then and there that I was comfortable with taking care of upgrading my sound system and getting a backup camera through them. To my surprise they were also to upgrade and install everything in that same day before my shift at work. I also must mention the fantastic store manager (whose name I forgot to ask for unfortunately) who also took time to make sure I was being treated well and the mechanic who installed and checked everything for me. I cannot thank Car Toys enough for saving me the cost of buying a new car by giving me all the things I wanted from a new car. I finally feel proud of driving my car again and it makes my daily commute or travel day-to-day an absolute pleasure. I called the store and talked to the store manager Lonnie to get a quote to have an alarm system installed on my truck. I was informed that it would be best to bring the vehicle in so they can look at it and make sure they give me an accurate estimate of what it needs to do the job. So I drove up there one day and Lonnie and one of his installers walked out to the truck and didn't get more than 10ft from it and decided they had all the information necessary to give me a quote. I told them it was a 2023 truck due to that being what was printed in the door jam on the sticker and didn't know otherwise. I scheduled to have the installation done and dropped the vehicle off. I then received a phone call from the installer stating that the truck was actually a 2024 and would now require an extra device to communicate with the trucks computer and would cost an extra $180 with the part and extra labor. I don't understand the point of bringing a vehicle to them just for them to neglect to investigate anything and only look at the outside from a distance just to add additional cost that should have been caught during the proposal process. I understand that nobody is perfect but in my opinion they fell extremely short on providing quality service in this case. Besides that they did a quality and professional job with the installation and I am very happy with the alarm system they installed. If they wouldn't have expected the customer to bear the cost of their lack of investigation they would be getting 5 stars but at it stand I can not in good conscience recommend anyone I know to use there services since it is likely whatever they quote them will ultimately not be the final cost. read more

Very disappointed in the service of one of the associates at this store. His treatment of me over the phone after the fact has ruined the whole experience and I will not give further business to them. Don and Austin were great but this guy (who never gave his name) was completely unprofessional and rude when discussing a discrepancy between what I was quoted over the phone and what was actually charged upon picking up my daughter's car. I will say that Austin actually called me back and tried to make the situation better by offering to refund the difference but when he went to process it their antiquated system will only allow for a refund with a physical swipe of my card. So, we of course have to go back into the store and deal with this when it's the last thing I want to do. My advice to anyone working with this company is to take pictures of any quote they give you and do not do any business with them over the phone or just verbally because you must have physical proof or you might end up talking to the horrible person I did who tried to bully his way into making me be the bad guy instead of just simply admitting an error had been made and apologizing. I will never even think about taking my NEW truck to some shotty install place to screw up my panels or just try to sell me crap. You can't spend Amazon money for adds and mods on your truck and expect the stuff to last. I came in on Saturday afternoon looking to have a couple of blown rear speakers replaced. I met with Lonnie Franklin, the store manager, went over my options found the best pair for my system. After further review I asked if I can get this scheduled for the same day or next day and he mentioned that he'd have to order the speakers in from another store and it'll probably be another week. Much to my surprise upon arriving home I got a call from Lonnie informing me that he was able to get the speakers in that same day and that I would be able to get my install done the next day on Sunday. i had dogs in my car that were stinky so my car smelled absolutely disgusting, so i took it in to the nearest place to get detailed. the man i spoke to was very nice and considerate and helped me decide which package i wanted to buy depending on what i needed done. my car seats were shampooed very nicely, however i'm only giving it 4 stars because it didn't look like they got any crumbs out of my center console which is one of the things i was looking forward to, however, maybe that wasn't an option that was included in the package i bought so it's not a big deal, i can just do it myself if i wanted to. either way, my car came out smelling so good!! i'd recommend it, just make sure you pick the package that covers everything you need it to. read more

One star is a stretch! I came in on 2/9/19 and wanted multicolor lighting... I was swayed to just get a single color (I don't think the guy installing wanted the headache). It was wrapped and lopped all over the place under my seats and you could see the lights (not just the glow). After they were done, my brand new car (after the install) had dirty hand stains on the roof cloth near the window (where they removed parts to hide wiring), and they used cheap speaker wire instead of proper lighting wiring, so all my connections melted after a few months and the lights stopped working. Since the installer didn't cut any of the lights, I had to buy a second set (cha-ching!). They wired it totally incorrectly after I insisted it be done right, so my new car starting having the "check engine" light on after a week... GM had to fix their horrible wiring and charged me $600+ (I already paid Car Toys almost $400, which was $400 too much for the shitty work they did). Everyone keeps saying "Go to Car Toys!" - I WILL NEVER GO TO CAR TOYS! So, after being out $1,000 with non-working lights, I went to Bonnie & Clyde's C B Stereo and they hit it out of the park on the first try. They fixed everything and put in the lighting I wanted in the first place. Everything is perfect with a maticulous quality install. So, go to Bonnie & Clyde's C B Stereo and do everything you can to avoid Car Toys! They're a total rip off!!! read more

I told Michael on the phone what my situation was, and he was very helpful in scheduling time the next day to see Car Toys In Lewisville. When I arrived that day I spoke with Sarah the manager who is the best! She gave me a fair and honest price for a better camera. Even when the camera wasn't quite right the first time, Sarah made sure that I was happy with my install. Jerry did the installation and was very professional and careful with my vehicle. I don't ever post reviews for anything on anywhere...but after the job Jon Gammel did at car toys, I can't help but to do so. Don't be fooled by some competitors "install bay" or even places whose sole shop is based around doing "custom" work. I checked out every single one within a 20 mile radius and couldn't be happier. Jon was excellent in his communication prior, during, and after the job was done. He even contacted me twice during the install to give me an opportunity to make final finishing touches decisions on the custom job. TL;DR: When I purchase my next car or do any additional work on my current car, I will look for Jon G first. I would even drive out 50 miles if I had to if (hopefully) he has his own personal shop. He is that knowledgeable, that good and pays that much attention to the tiniest details. Background info: I wanted to do a custom install of hardwiring a radar detector that I have trusted over the past 15 years. I've had this hardwired in similar set ups in every car I've owned, dating back to when circuit city used to do installs...or before they went bankrupt I should say. No install has ever came out this clean, and this good. I did my homework, and Jon knocked it out the ballpark. I had drawn a diagram of what I wanted, how I wanted, ordered the parts from BMW. (changing center console ash tray / cig lighter to sunglasses tray alone to fit switches, and needed cig lighter placed in different location. Also needed the original lid from my car to be used on the new part that I had ordered...one wrong move on prying the lid and that's BMW premium price I'd have to pay for a new wood grain trim lid). I had spoken to several different locations that offer similar services, and not one of them was as knowledgeable as Jon. Few "custom shop" places quoted me way higher than Car Toys, and some quoted me below, but honestly don't be fooled by price or let the price be the determining factor. After I spoke with Jon and realized how competent he was, I immediately booked an appointment, cancelled my appointment from a competitor and went grabbed my switches from them to bring to Car Toys. In addition to the previously mentioned changes, I needed a custom job because I specifically wanted placements of different gadgets (not your mainstream radar detector) and the main unit itself in specific places, along with adding custom led buttons routed into my center console. Except I wanted something completely reversible (even when hardwired) when selling the car, and didn't want to have an aftermarket look on my BMW while I own it. Like I've said, I've had similar installs on numerous cars over the past 15 years, but no car seemed as tricky for the fitment of the buttons and my own taste / requirements as this coupe... This install came out flawless, clean, and better than I had thought possible. As previous posters mentioned, you do NOT get what you pay at Car Toys. My fiance and I went in to have an alarm installed, were quoted one price, and charged a much higher price. Originally they told me $150, but when we came in the installation tech said it was going to be an extra 3 hours at least, at $80 per hour in addition to the alarm price. When I asked why, he said since it was a 1965 Beetle, they had to wire it in differently than normal. One hour later, my car was finished and I was told the total came out to $415. I disputed this, as the alarm was originally only $150, and the extra 3 hours the technician told me was not necessary, but they told me that was the cost of the "specialty job." After we left and did some calling around, we found out we were grossly ripped off. I have attempted to contact the manager, only to be given the run around. I have contacted Car Toys online customer service, was given an order/invoice number for my complaint and told I would receive a call; never happened. My attempts have all been in vain, and I will now be persuing other options in attempting to remedy this situation, as Car Toys has the most horrible customer service I've ever encountered. read more

Had a great experience at the Lewisville Texas Car Toys. My salesman did a great job of listening to my needs, and then only tried to sell me the equipment that fit my needs and pocket. I would highly recommend this store. The install didn't take very long and my salesman made all of the adjustments I specified. He even set my preset buttons for FM, and was courteous and respectful. If you get a quote for anything... make sure you have it in writing. Got quote to install equipment, it lacked a simple iPod adapter even though the jerk told me repeatedly it was included. I take 1/2 day off to get it done... got charged about $100 extra.... didn't have time to go elsewhere... OVERALL INSTALLATION: I'd rate it a C , because the installer didn't do anything beyond a normal install you'd get from Best Buy.... (matter of fact I wish I DID go to Best Buy.. I'd have $100 extra in my pocket) I even had to ask a different guy to install a bracket so my sub box wouldn't move around. The iPod cable he didn't even attempt to have it come out of the glove box... nope, got a long ass cable coming from below the console. DO NOT! USE THESE PEOPLE! "Car Toys, Where the customer is always WRONG!!" "Car Toys, Where customer service is a myth" Summary: Paid for one hour of labor, got ten minutes of bad attitude from Bradley. On October 19th I stopped in to make an appointment to get my car stereo inspected. The right side speakers were not working. The counter person said that no appointments were necessary but if I came in the next Morning at 11AM I would be helped immediately. The next morning I arrived at 11AM. Paid $85.00 for one hour labor and a shop fee of 10% plus tax with totaled $101. Bradley came into the showroom area to meet with me. I explained the issue and also gave him some background information. He said that the radio I have is one of his favorites and he would fix me right up. He also made mention that he had 8 years experience in car stereo repair. About five minutes into the repair I went out to my truck to get a book and Bradley said that the rear right side speaker was out. My radio was removed from the dashboard and the speaker wires we exposed. He used an ohmmeter to check the resistance of the speaker with the speaker wire. I asked him to check the speaker only as a final troubleshooting step. If the speaker was isolated from the wiring then it could reasonably be deduced that the speaker was faulty. That's when his attitude completely change. He told me that he didn't have enough time to performed the troubleshooting test that I requested and I would have to return. I made mention that I have paid for one hour of labor and his response was,"we will refund your money." Come to find out that these installers are paid on commission. I think I disrupted his attempt to sell me something that perhaps I didn't need or that he just was not use to being questioned. Moreover, the day manager, Mark, was nice enough but agreed with Bradley that I would need to return. Mark tried to make it right but agreeing with Bradley was just wrong. I just wanted my car stereo work. And now I've wasted one hour of my time on a Sunday, unnecessary confusion, and having to warn the public to stay away. Shady business practices. Wow! I really like the folks at CarToys in Lewisville! I went in looking for a car play system for my Toyota Avalon. Paul ask me what I was looking for in a new system. He also ask me if I had Entune app, which I did but did not know how to use. Paul then showed how I could do all of the things I could do in the existing setup I had.
