My husband bought a rear camera and paid the Car Tunes Customs to install it for us. We found that when backed up the car the red line on the front mirror indicated that the tire was very far from the side curb but when looked at the side mirror, the tire is touching the sidewalk. Sometimes, I hit the side curb because I looked from the red line in the mirror. Also, we saw that the rear camera was installed on the left side of the license plate and we thought that the rear mirror was on the left side of the car which was why it looked far from the side curb. My husband asked the technician to put the rear mirror in the center and expected that he would carefully check how the camera viewed in the back. The technician just let my husband drive back home but the problem was not solved. I saw the rear camera is screw in the center with the license plate but can not move it up and down because it is screw tight with the license plate. When I backed up our car, the red line on the mirror pointed on top of the sky. I could not see how far the tire was with the sidewalk. While driving on the street, I can not see cars behind but see the sky and branches of trees. I went to the Car Tunes Customs when I saw that the rear mirror did not work properly. I went to tell them the problems. The owner told me that because my husband wanted him to put the rear mirror in the center He just put it in the center and did not care whether the rear camera view. The owner and his coworker denied their own mistakes but blamed that the camera is not their product. The owner, his coworker did not seem to care about the complaint I made. The coworker of the owner shouted at me to get out of the store. I was so upset that we paid for the service and were treated this way. Do I have the right to tell them and complain to them? When I paid for the service and did not get what I paid for but was told to get out of their store? Do I have the right to be upset? We paid more than $200 but the result was very disappointing. They did a very bad job and did unprofessional service. read more

I brought in my 2009 pick up to have a better radio and speakers installed; I wound up getting a recommended Pioneer Navigation/radio/DVD/CD/Bluetooth in-dash unit installed. After they completed the work I had no idea that the unit wasn't factory installed; even matched the surrounding face plate to look original. The work was done professionally and neat. My only negative comment would be that they need a parking lot or bigger facility so you don't have to jockey the cars around while you're waiting for service. On 2/6/15 Car Tunes installed a Pioneer NEX-5000, ACWS steering wheel module, Sirius/XM module and a back-up camera for me. The price was right and the service was nice and fast. My only complaint was that they did not reset my airbag sensor (which I had to call and get instructions on how to reset it from them) and that the wiring for the back-up camera was a little sloppy. I ended up putting wiring loom on it myself because I did not like the fact that it was regular AV cables exposed to the elements like that. Maybe it is just my meticulous nature but I would have liked for them to done all the above. All in all the service was good; Jimmy, Marty and the crew were very friendly guys and knew their craft. read more

Jimmy, I don't write a lot of reviews. Usually I'll only take the time if I'm seriously disappointed with my purchase or the service I receive. But in your case, I'm so impressed, I have to tell whoever is looking to upgrade their ride... you MUST see Jimmy and his crew. The installation of my new nav and audio system looks like it was installed at the factory. Absolutely clean and perfect. And the sound is incredible. Not overly "bass-y", but perfectly balanced, just like I asked. The work was finished exactly when promised (which was faster than I expected), and the price was more than fair - especially considering the quality of your work. You can definitely charge more and no one would complain. My father-in-law just bought a new Huyndai. He's going to need an alarm and remote starter installed. I'm sending him your way. I wanted a stereo with navigation I went in and spoke to the "owner" Jimmy, I told him I researched a radio that will work with my cars steering wheel controls and had navigation at a reasonable price, I also told him I wanted it loud with bass, he recommended 2 amps and a box in the trunk with 2 10inch woofers, I asked will it be loud..yes, will it have a lot of bass..yes will it sound good ...yes. I got 2 out of 3, after 2300.00 bucks I got a system that sounds terrible and warning lights that won't go away, had to go back 4 times each time my car got messier and ended up with less screws in the dash, Jimmy made excuses for his workers as far as them forgetting to screw my dash back together and when I told him it sounds like shit his reply was " well you picked the radio" he had no problem selling me amps and boxes but failed to tell me they aren't worth putting together, after the air bag light went off for the 4th time I decided enough was enough, don't get me wrong Jimmy was nice but as far as expecting a really well done job and getting your car back the way you gave it...not happening. But the excuses were abundant. The customer I feel does not come first here it's all about backing his workers. I would never recommend them . I am actually going to another place to correct all their mistakes. I got the feeling that I was just a nuisance to them and when he had to do a "free" job for me installing my satellite antenna he was too busy and made the appt. For weeks later when I was paying everything was done asap. So to recapp for my money I got a mess in my car, loud garbled noise, and a dash that hit the floor every time I hit a bump. Also my glove box latch screw was removed and that opened with every bump as well. Terrible terrible service...sooooo dissatisfied. read more

This is my first Yelp review, EVER. I don't usually do reviews because, as a business owner, I believe that every customer has their own individual experience with a company and that that customers attitude and approach contributes to the overall experience. HOWEVER!, I would argue that Jimmy and his crew at Car Tunes Customs absolutely and unequivocally are the best custom shop in the 5 boroughs of NYC. On several occasions I brought Jimmy a few of my trucks and requested that he install several items (LED strobes for safety, Back-Up cameras, Reverse beepers/sirens, custom control placement for plow controls, and installing commercial salt spreaders (Western). Not only did I show up requesting a lot of work be done, but I also asked for it all to be done as soon as reasonably possible to beat the then incoming snow (a tall task for any company). If you don't know already, Jimmy and his crew wrestle a pretty tight schedule, but what is impressive is regardless of how busy they are they will always take the time to talk to a customer, provide recommendations, check out any issues/do a walk around with the potential customer. I witnessed it, several times, when dropping off my trucks, discussing the invoice, and even while Jimmy took the time to go over each individual aspect of my installation he would politely excuse himself and tend to multiple customers simultaneously. Obviously, I've had both trucks returned to me with the work completed and every single item worked flawlessly during the first snow storm of the 2016-2017 snow season. Because of Jimmy and his hard working crew at Car Tunes Customs my crew and I were able to meet the demands of all of our clients. If you're looking for high quality work at a respectable price then this is the place to go. Remember, you get what you pay for when it comes to quality. These guys didn't let us down and I'm sure they'll do the same for all of their customers because their passionate about their work.
