I have NOTHING but great things to say about this place and the guys that work here. I was traveling for work and managed to completely flatten my right back tire. I am new to car maintenance and had no clue what to do, so I googled the nearest auto place and drove .5 miles down the road to Car-X. To my luck, they had just closed and were having a meeting, but they dropped everything they were doing to help me out. They helped me put my spare tire on and Tim ordered a new tire for me to pick up the next day. I drove back the following afternoon after a few meetings and they replaced the tire and had me out of there within 10 minutes. These guys are awesome. Disappointed that I tried this place thinking it's location would be convenient. Small shop, rude owner, no openings, no flexibility, no shuttle service. I got a screw in my tire after leaving their shop for a routine oil change, they immediately denied it and then went on to dodge appointments or even fix it for me. After comparing pricing, they charge more than other comparable shops for the basics like an oil change. Better off going with a professional place like Belle Tire, Discount Tire or other franchise with clear pricing and accountability. Apparently going local just gets you back handed remarks and rude customer service. read more

These guys were kind at first until they returned my vehicle to me with scratches down the driver side door. The team at Car-X was doing a routine oil change on my vehicle when they left the driver side door open while lifting up the car and it scratched through the paint aggressively. They accepted fault, asked me to get a quote for repairs, and said they would pay for it. Then the nightmare began. They've dodged my phone calls, my insurance companies phone calls, and have been completely unresponsive for two years -- refusing to pay for the damages they caused. I am now out hundreds of dollars in repairs that I paid for and feel stupid for ever trusting these people in the first place. Character and accountability mean a lot to me and Car-X clearly displayed that they have none. read more

They were wonderful about getting me in right away, and were honest & upfront about what was needed & cost. I did feel it was slightly costly, but that is probably because I had a friend doing repairs previously. They did my repair(brakes) in a timely manor, and check my fluids, tire pressure, etc as a courtesy. So I will definitely return. read more

Dave is the best! So kind and responsive. He's helped me out with my car throughout my time here at notre dame. His shop is quick and responsive. I've only had great experiences here. I've been in for 2 separate issues in the past year. In my experience, they were fair, honest, and did good work.

I went in with a screw in my tire, worried about a blow-out. They told me it wouldn't cost anything to fix because it was just a plug. Lifted my car up, checked everything out, determined the screw was pretty small so it wasn't an issue and I was out having paid nothing in ten minutes. Nothing against other places around here, but this was exceptional service will recommend to friends. read more

We were stranded due to a flat tire and had to get to Madison WI that afternoon for a wedding rehearsal. The "donut" spare is good for only 50 Miles so we were stuck . DAVE and his techs were just great and saved the day. He did not have our size of tire so took a truck himself and went to a distributor and got us for new tires . In two hours we had four new tires and we're on the road again . We made the wedding rehearsal thanks to Dave and the guys. Oh...... and his prices were very reasonable. Terry M. I had a small "rumbling" sound coming from the front part of my 05 Camry. I knew it was exhaust, but not really sure what. Took to 2 other reputable service centers and was quoted between $700-$900!!! Having used Car X in the past I headed their direction. They were able to replace just what was needed. Total came to $155. Other places wanted to replace catalytic converter & oxygen sensor. Jason was very professional & Ray was very prompt in repairing my car. Only took about an hour. I don't need much exhaust work, but when I do I will go back to Car X. read more

Normally I do my own car repairs. I wish I had. I took our Subaru to Car-X last year because the front brakes were pulling, and I didn't have time to do the repair myself. They said the brakes were fine, just a little rusty, and just to drive more to wear them in. It turns out, in reality, the master cylinder was not retracting after applying the brakes. So the brakes were always on. After 15 minutes of driving, the front brake assemblies were red hot, braked poorly if at all, and certainly ready to start a fire. Fortunately the car didn't catch fire, but the damage to the brake system cost nearly $900 to repair. All for something that I had already diagnosed to the mechanic at Car-X. Anybody can make an occasional mistake, even a pro. But Car-X also misdiagnosed our other Subaru, and the work they did had no effect. So that's consistently bad. One star. read more

I clearly need car work done, but whoever answered the phone at this Car-X location just lost them my business. I am not a car expert by any means, but the way in which the employee on the other end handled our conversation was unprofessional and impractical. It went along the lines of "Hi my car won't start, any idea of a ball-park estimate of how much things would cost?" His response - "well clearly there is something wrong. how would I know how much it would cost without looking at it? you can call a tow truck if you want." Last time I checked you can narrow it down and give a few possibilities as to why a car wouldn't start. It is your job after all, isn't it? Anyway - my car would probably be en route to this place for their business had their employees had any type of interpersonal or customer service skills. read more

I cannot express how amazing this place is. I have taken my car to many different places before but this is by far my favorite. They always work with your time limit (since I'm a student with a full time job, this is appreciated). They also offer amazing deals and discounts. They never try to sell you unnecessary parts either. The absolute favorite part is the customer service. The manager and mechanics are always friendly and smiling. They explain any issues with your car in full detail to be sure you understand what's going on. read more

The guys here were unbelievable! My muffler broke on the way to a fun day of pampering myself, on my one day off. Needless to say, that's not what you want. But, the situation was not all bad! They addressed the issue, explained the situation to me, and fixed it in way under the 45minutes they estimated! They also told me it would be no charge and that I should pay it forward! Wow!! I was a regular customer at Car-X and really liked them at first. I was still having problems with my car and took it back to them and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. My front end brakes still continue to make a metal on metal sound. I just took to another shop and was told that my front and rear calipers were installed incorrectly on my vehicle. I stopped going to them a while back but wanted to let other customers know that I would not recommend Car X at all. read more

Cannot say enough good things about these guys!! Traveling acorss thw country on a move to California from NH and my car had a bad cylinder misfire while getting back on the interstate. They got me in, diagnosed, fixed and back on the road in less than an hour and at a very reasonable price too! I'd reccommend them to anyone, they know what they're doing! read more
