I've been seeing Ben for skin checkups for 7 or 8 years. He is considerate and thorough, and takes time to answer all my questions very carefully. All the staff treat me like a real person, looking me in the eyes when they talk to me and taking the time to get things right. They are always on time, and messages are answered quickly. Only because I can't give them a 0. The worst experience ! They told me that my appointment was all settled. (One text and two emails) The receptionist even called a day before making sure my insurance was right. I arrived earlier than the 20 min for my first appointment. (Because they said to be 20 mins early) my Medicaid insurance got denied when the receptionist asked for my insurance information. I came in for a SKIN CANCER SCREENING!! she said that only some of the offices take Medicaid and that's not one of them? So how am I suppose to know if they are on the Medicaid website? Who is suppose to know they have to call every office to see if they accept Medicaid? So selfish they don't take someone who is coming in for a cancer screening. They are what's wrong with the medical field! Only caring about money and not actually the well being of people they take care of. Not to mention the way the receptionist said it out loud in the waiting room and everyone stared at me. I felt so uncomfortable when all I came in for was a peace of mind. I went there for yearly checkup and they were going to bill my insurance. They billed my insurance and sent biopsies to a lab that was out of network so the insurance didnt cover it. They then billed me for what was done in the office and then mentioned that there were charges ins non-allowed. I called the office and asked biling about sending lab work out network and was told that I would need to talk to the office manager. I called twice and asked for the office manager about this and was told to leave a message and would be called back but never received a call back. So today almost threee month later I get a new bill with a bunch of additional charges on it. This is no way to do business and find it very unprofessional. As an accountant, if I did that to my clients they would revolt and not pay it. Don't go to this ripoff company who doesn't know how to do business. read more

As with every derm office in Denver, it took months (3 to be exact) to get an appointment. Dr. Lemon came very highly recommended, but I would have to wait six months to see her... I saw Dr. Howe, who's a bit of a newbie, but very personable and incredibly knowledgeable. I would say that if you have a derm emergency, don't count on the front office being sympathetic at all, and you probably would have better luck going to another state if you want a quick appointment. I find their front office staff rather surly and unhelpful on the phone. I had a cyst on my face that needed a shot - takes 5 minutes max - and they couldn't fit me in for a week, and even though it was my anniversary weekend, they couldn't have been less helpful or sympathetic. Being from NYC and SF I find it actually quite ridiculous that in Colorado it takes months and months to get an appointment, and if you have a need to get in right away, you are pretty much up the creek. My dermatologist in SF is Dr. Kathy Fields of Proactiv fame, and she always (and I mean always) will do her best to fit you in, or have her see one of her office colleagues, if an emergency, and although her office is always packed - it doesn't take six months to get in to see her... a few weeks at most. read more

I see Meg Lemon, but have heard all the doctors are good in this practice. My needs are pretty basic, an annual full body check of my moles. Melanoma runs in my family so I really wanted to go to someone who is adept at finding trouble spots early. My neighbor's father was a pathologist and as able to see which doctors found things early and recommended Meg Lemon to his daughter, who kindly referred me. I have been seeing her for a couple of years now and could not be happier. Tip: It takes a while to get in, so make an appointment roughly three months in advance of when you need/want to be seen. read more

A Dermatologist at my age?! Yeah, and I hate to admit it, adult acne is not fun! But, any time you have acne, it's not fun, rather embarrasing, trust me, I know. I have been going to the Colorado Dermatology Specialists on and off for a few years now. I'm back again, and what my doctor has prescribed for me, is definitely working. Thank goodness! My doctor listens to me, and advises me on what she would like me to do. I follow her suggestions, ask questions, and we go from there. I go for follow-up checkups every couple of months, to make sure I'm on track, which I am. The entire staff here is friendly, helpful, and definitely know how to work with all of the insurance companies out there, which is good. They have several locations, which helps too. The doctors here handle all types of skin conditions, which is nice to know. Parking is easy, with a large free parking lot. Their office is clean, bright, and welcoming as well. Great first visit. My only other experience with a Dermatoligist was scary. She came at me with a scalpel and said, "Don't worry, this won't hurt". So when I was in need of a professional to diagnose a skin condition I made some calls. Not only were the receptionists very helpful and informative on the phone, but they offered fair prices for my uninsured visit. It did take a month for me to be able to schedule the appointment, but Dr. Howe was very knowledgeable, gave me a lot of information, and helped me make the right choice for my budget and personal preferences. I'm very happy with my first visit and would certainly recommend them! read more

I visited Colorado Dermatology specialist for the first time last week and it was a great experience! The office is very modern, and up to date. The staff was friendly. I had never had a skin exam before, and I felt very comfortable. Dr. Robinson addressed all of my questions/ concerns. Nothing felt rushed, and she was very thorough with explaining what she was doing and what she was looking at, while educating me on what to look out for at home. I do like that CDS does make some of their own products, since insurance does not cover many behind the counter products. The product I got was a huge cost saver! read more

I saw Dr. Dajani this morning. Was seen about 5 minutes before my appointment time. Nurse took thorough notes and asked me everything I wanted addressed during the visit. Dr. Dajani came in very shortly after, no waiting. She was patient and wanted to address each thing I had come in for. She had quick answers and solutions for each, both on the spot and for me to administer myself once I left the office. She did a head-to-toe check and slowly examined me, explaining each thing she noticed and whether it warranted further attention or not. She asked how long each little thing had been present, what it was called and what it meant, for my benefit. When administering some cortizone shots in a few places, she was constantly asking if I was comfortable or if the pain of the shot was too much. She also asked if I was ok with shots before doing anything. The nurse was also good about making sure I was numb in the area to be biopsied before doing anything. Very professional, efficient, and caring. read more

The reception staff is unnecessarily rude and nasty towards the clients. I called my dermatologist back one day after I missed her call, only to be told "She's with a patient, do you want me to interrupt her visit so she could talk to you"? . Who responds like that? I wasn't being rude or demanding.They act as if they're being held against their will, or doing you a huge favor by doing what they're obviously paid to do. There's a reason many of the reviews center around the attitude of the reception staff. read more

Trying to understand some of the other reviews on here, but my recent experience with the staff at this practice was nothing but timely, professional and considerate. I called a little over a week ago as a new patient, thinking I would be booking for three months from now based on these other reviews, but they had openings for me that week and the next. I had an appt with Dr Serota to evaluate an old wart on my pinky finger and for a skin check. The reception staff were efficient and polite, and Dr Serota was friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel assured that my fair and freckled skin was in okay shape. He also helped me make a plan that would help minimize the number of follow up visits I would need to get rid of this stubborn wart. I'll look forward to my next visit! read more

I was a patient for nearly two years to treat a severe case of HS. I was informed by my doctor that in cases of severe symptom flare up, I could call in and schedule a walk-in appointment for Hydrocortisone shot. This past Friday I needed just that and called right when the office opened at 8am. The after hours message was still on and remained on until past 8:30 so I decided to come in and ask for a walk up shot in person. I arrived, clearly in pain and started to explain the situation. Before I could finish my sentence I was interrupted by the front desk staffer who was defensive, stating that "she didn't get a call" and "the phones were on at 8" and "we don't take walk ups". To add further insult, she completely disregarded my obvious pain and instead of asking for my name to pull up my account, rudely asked if "If I was even a patient there". I remained patient and tried to explain the doctors orders I was given a second time. Finally the woman reluctantly said she would ask the Doctor if they could fit me in. After less than a minute, she came back and said they couldn't see me until two weeks from now. It was apparent that the woman did not try to explain the situation to whomever she talked to, if she even checked with someone in that thirty second window. Also it is worth noting I was the only person in the waiting room and it was not busy at all - I was the first patient there. This is when I lost my temper, said "you know what this is bullshit, forget it." and l left. I then called the other location to see if they could see me same day and spoke to someone who stated that they would call me back with an appointment time for later in the afternoon. I was instead called back by practice manager Tish who left me a voicemail, kicking me out of the practice for cursing during the earlier interaction. That night I had to perform surgery on myself (near my groin) with an exacto knife because I couldn't get that shot that I so desperately begged for. It was terrible. I feel so upset because of how I was treated when asking for help that my doctor said I could get in a time of need, and instead was treated like a criminal. Tish dismissed me from the practice without even an opportunity to explain my side, on voicemail. How impersonal and unkind to someone who has been with the practice for quite a while. To the readers of this: If you have a serious disease and don't want to be put down and treated like scum in your most vulnerable state, then I recommend you find another practice. Additionally, before I was kicked out of the practice, I was put on a radical drug for my disease that I was supposed to have a follow up appointment to make sure it's going okay. This practice gets extra unprofessional points for ditching me during such a sensitive time in my treatment. What the heck do I do now, is all I keep thinking... How do I find another doctor who can pick up my treatment right where it left off since it's a less common approach? My plea to CDM in the hopes you don't keep neglecting and abusing patients, is to hire a front line staff that actually want to work in human services and not just get a paycheck. Both the managers and the desk staff should be ashamed of the rude and uncaring attitudes I was unfortunate enough to encounter. read more

Everyone I came into contact with from the receptionist to the nurses were amazing. Most importantly they listened when I spoke. I was misdiagnosed for 7 years. Coming here for 3 weeks has made me healthier, happier and no longer depressed. Everyone here worked with me to figure out what was wrong with me. I saw Dr. Marc Serota about two months ago and it was a success. I made an appointment for as soon as possible and they got me in two days after I called. I was able to walk there, the building is a little confusing but that may be just me. The receptionists were friendly and competent. The waiting was about 15 min, and I had to pay the co-pay up front, but no biggie. I was diagnosed and prescribed an ointment within 15 minutes, which is fine with me. I am sure he would've taken more time if I had more questions. The frustrating thing, which seems to be prevalent regardless of the doctor (other places are similar), is that I had to order it for mail delivery and couldn't just go to the pharmacy. I had to work with the receptionists again, and again they were great. Are they called receptionists? They likely do medical billing and other things too. In the end, I am all healed up and it was a good experience. Other patients seemed to be happy there as well. I may be returning and definitely recommend this place. read more

I have been visiting this office for about 3 years. I began seeing Dr Frankel and she has always been pleasant, friendly and willing to help me fix any and all problems that I may have. I do wish that she was able to offer a little more time in the exam room though. I sometimes feel a little rushed. I have recently seen Dr. Friednash. She is very personable, easy to talk to and is always willing to answer any and all questions that I have for her and offers excellent care. Most recently, I went in for a small procedure and the new nurse's assistant Mika was incredibly friendly! I was so glad to have a personable and knowledgeable staff member checking me in. She was so attentive and kind throughout my entire visit. I feel like her great care should not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Overall, I would recommend this office and it's doctors and staff to anyone! read more

I got a referral from my United Healthcare Primary Care Physician to come to Colorado Dermatology Specialists. Saw Dr. Marc Serota for removal of a small growth. Everything went fine. He asked if I wanted to do a biopsy and I said yes- problem is, they sent the biopsy to a lab which is not in United Healthcare's network. So now insurance will cover none of it and I'm out $435.00! I communicated with Jessica Glass in the billing department, but she just blew me off in the end. Ridiculous. read more

Colorado Dermatology Specialists was a great find. I have had psoriasis for many years and have had mixed care from other dermatologists. Dr. Robinson has been amazing. She gave me great recommendations and spent the time to really educate me on the different treatment options. The practice was easy to work with, the doctors are very accessible, and I also really like the MAs. During the recent Stay At Home order, I didn't have to miss my appointment, I was able to schedule to see Dr. Robinson and have my regular psoriasis check-up via Zoom! They made it extremely easy and I was so happy that I didn't have to put myself at risk for my appointment. I would highly recommend this practice. read more

I visited the doctor to remove sun damage on my face. The scheduling was easy and the staff was very friendly. After numbing me up she used IPL laser to gently zap each spot. They were red but the doctor assured me that the brown spots would fade after a week. And in about that time they were GONE. read more

I had an appointment with a nurse practitioner and I felt as though the entire situation was handled extremely unprofessionally. She spent the majority of the appointment trying to "sell" me on Accutane, even though I stated several times, before the consultation and during, that I was not interested in that medication. The lengthy hard-sell for the Accutane ran out the clock and left no time for a skin cancer check, which was the main reason I booked the appointment. The office staff is rude and disorganized. As a new patient, I was very shocked by the level of treatment and extremely disappointed. Will not be going back, ever. read more

I want to start this by saying I never leave bad reviews. I prefer to reward good experiences and move on from the bad. But I've had such a terrible experience with the business management of this office - and so little response from them in my attempts to get answers - that here I am. I had a perfectly good new patient visit with Dr. Elizabeth Robinson several months ago. But since then, I have been unable to get anyone from the billing or office team to sufficiently respond to me about trying to follow up on a pre-authorization request for a procedure Dr. Robinson recommended. There is a huge amount of confusion about whether my insurance provider covers the office. (At the time I went for my office visit, it did. But now it seems it doesn't anymore, so there's been a total lack of clarity about my billing and pre-authorization request. Somehow this is related to the fact that they've changed over to being a branch of Advanced Dermatology, but it's hard to tell what the details are.) I have called the office a dozen times without getting through to a person, and I've never received a callback, despite leaving a clear voicemail asking for one every time. I have emailed multiple times through the patient portal, and maybe 1 out of every 4 gets responded to, usually just with a promise that "someone will reach out," but then no one does. I've never experienced quite this level of being ignored by a professional office. (And while I know that billing reminder emails are likely run out of a totally separate corporate office, there's still irony in the fact that the only communication I get from them like clockwork are email reminders of my balance due.) Obviously, at this point, I personally won't be going back to this practice, but since I can't even get through to anyone at their office, writing a terrible review seems like the only way to even let the doctors know how badly they're being let down by their staff. I'm generally a pretty laidback person when it comes to this kind of thing. I try to give a lot of chances to people and businesses, knowing how things can fall through the cracks. But this has gone way past acceptable. read more

Well, if you pay your bill and want them to send you to collections by accident, then this is your place! After they accidentally send you to a collections (and accidentally serve your in-laws even though that is not the address on file and they can't explain why they served a house you've never lived in) attorney and that attorney accidentally serves you again 6 months later then calls you after another 2 months to yell at you for wanting legal proof he no longer has your information and has cancelled the accidental court hearing....if you want all that, this place is perfect! (This review is valid for both locations, the Midtown location and the Belleview location). You know how, when you plan a doctor's appointment, you anticipate mulling around impatiently in the waiting room for 20+ minutes after your appointment time before you even get in the exam room? And then you plan on being in the exam room another 20-30 minutes before your doctor sees you? That's the routine I've seen at any doctor's office, at least. Well, don't expect to catch up on your Facebook or your Twitter or your Angry Birds when you see CO Dermatology Specialists. I've been a patient of Dr. Frankel since late 2013 and I have been insanely impressed every time I've been. I had an appointment recently, scheduled for 9:30 am I believe. I showed up at 9:22, was in the exam room at 9:28, and was walking out with a prescription around 9:37. It may have been earlier, actually - 9:37 was when I looked at my phone in my car. It's not that Dr. Frankel rushes you in and out. She is just prompt. She is on time and efficiently answers questions. She doesn't hum and haw about "well, maybe we could try this..." She says "How about this option? We can meet up if it doesn't work, and then we can try this option." Quick, efficient, to the point. You can literally be in and out of an appointment faster than going to the gas station, filling up your SUV, and stopping for coffee. I can't say how impressed I am with this office. If you need a dermatologist, try here first. read more

I used to go here for several years. Dr. Meg Lemon was very professional and caring and kind. However, later when I moved out of state, I was not receiving my forwarding mail and a bill for $120 was accidentally lost in the process. Then, fast forward a year or so and received this odd letter from Dr. Meg Lemon saying they were "discontinuing me as a patient". I falsely assumed that I called back to explain the misunderstanding and pay the small amount. The billing office said no way. So I said go ahead and talk to Dr. Lemon because she was always pleasant with me. Later the next day, I received confirmation from the rude billing office that Dr. Lemon REFUSED to see me anymore. I have been going here for years to see Dr. Friednash for acne, and later fillers. When she just disappeared (I was told she moved out east to be with family) I didn't go for a while but needed a touch up for filler. Saw Dr. Lemon whom was amazing and did wonders. A few months later I had run out of my acne medicine and needed a couple of spots checked so I tried to make an apt with Dr. Lemon. I was told there was a hold on my account because I never paid for the Juvederm and I'd have to talk to the billing department if I thought it was an error. I went back and looked and found the charge had cleared on my credit card the day after my apt. back in December. I called the billing department, and they said that they saw my proof of pay, but that the billing manager had to clear it. She then asked if I didn't pay on time, or if I left without paying and called in a payment later. I told her I couldn't remember (I've seen alot of Drs since then and some tell you they'll bill you later and others have you pay then...I don't remember) but since it was only $300 and the charge went through the day after my appointment it didn't seem like an issue. She got very snippy and said I had to make sure I paid before I left and acted as if I was some criminal trying to perform a $10,000 heist. After trying to be made to feel as if I was some low-life scam artist, I decided I would pass this off as a one time mistake and continue as a client. After I didn't hear back for another couple of days, I called again and was told that actually the hold wasn't a financial hold at all, but that Dr. Lemon had put the hold on the system and needed to clear the hold and wouldn't be back for a full week. I thought it was pretty strange that a doctor would be putting a hold on for what the staff thought was a financial concern, but whatever. I should have taken this as a warning, but I waited because I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a new doctor. After not hearing back after a week, I called and was told I was on the list of people for them to call, and that Dr. Lemon had decided she no longer wanted me "in her care." I literally laughed out loud. I said I had never seen her for my acne, just the one time for a standard, non eventful filler (she had even given me an additional prescription and told me not to hesitate to come back for my other skin concerns). . The office staff said she was only the messenger, but get this, she had a number for Dr. Friednash!!! (but knew nothing else about her other than this random number she had) This whole things has been comical, and It's a good thing I have a healthy self-esteem because I'd be feeling pretty crappy right now if not. I think it is incredibly unprofessional to tell someone that essentially a doctor doesn't like them and to get lost. They didn't even offer another doctor in their practice (at that point I sure as hell wouldn't have gone) which makes you wonder if it was really the doctor whom I had very little contact with but seemed to be an amiable experience, or if it was some fear I might take them for a $50 co-pay for my appointment! I fear for anyone else that may have a similar experience. Stay away from this place! Dr. Lemon is a great Dr., so I doubt she had anything to do with this, but it's not worth the risk you'll have dealing with these guys! read more

Had an absolutely wonderful first visit with Dr. Friednash. I had melanoma 6 years ago and it was removed by one of her colleagues in Colorado Springs. I had no idea, but Dr. Friednash was the pathologist (which she does in addition to see patients) who evaluated my tissue sample, diagnosed it and essentially saved my life! What a small world. Great to meet her in person. She completed a thorough body exam and also provided recommendations on clearing my adult hormonal acne. She was warm and friendly while being thorough and efficient. Unacceptably rude staff - they weren't truthful with me and hang up on me when I called to check on the status of medication - it was mailed out, but I never received it and they could not provide tracking information. Dr Lemon and her team ignore portal messages. I had a question and wanted to get ahold of them - they didn't return my calls. This is very unfortunate after long relationship with this good doctor, her practice and the way I was treated went downhill. They care about money more than about their patients. After waiting for medication for two and a half weeks and receiving a zero response to phone calls and portal messages, I received inappropriate and aggressive email from the Dr's practice manager Tisha. Meg Lemon will not stand up for her patients. Instead of responding and addressing the issue, she preferred to stand behind her unacceptably rude and unprofessional staff. read more

I have been to doctor after doctor after doctor for the skin condition I have suffered for a couple of years now, I went to Sorkin after reading reviews here on yelp. The dermatologist diagnosed me in 5 mins of visiting with me, and I was on the road to recovery from that visit on!!! I felt I had to add my 2 cents out there for anyone else whose looking for a good dermatologist. The doctors at Sorkin are extremely knowledgeable and have THE best 'bedside' manner I have EVER experienced. Dr. Lemon is AMAZING. I've never had a better doctor in my entire life. She is so kind and so sweet and very attentive to your needs. I've seen a couple other doctors at both locations, when Dr. Lemon was not available. And they also were knowledgeable and easy to work with. As this is my first real experience with dermatologist. I have to give it a 5 star rating. read more

The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Now add the fact that most of them are misinformed and lousy with paperwork. They will blame the insurance company, the pharmaceutical company, a company called kroger, and they will blame you for their complete disorganization and ineptness. I find it disheartening that Dr. Lemon, a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, ignored my child's need for care. Two years ago, I felt so fortunate to find Dr. Serota, who at that time practiced at Colorado Dermatology Specialists. He was able to diagnose a skin disorder that my child had been dealing with for several years, with unsuccessful treatments. Dr. Serota pinpointed allergies, and recommended immunotherapy. For the two years we were with Dr. Serota, my child received allergy shots, was 100% better, and had gotten to her 'maintenance dose'. For unforeseen circumstances, Dr. Serota left Colorado Dermatology and has since been unreachable. Dr. Lemon would not fill in for Dr. Serota nor let her staff provide care for my child as Dr. Serota was uncomfortable with allergy shots, which was unbelievable to me as Dr. Serota had been providing them for months. I obtained my child's records, picked up my child's vials, and proceeded to find an allergist who was willing to continue the treatment Dr. Serota had prescribed. The new allergist had questions and reached out to Colorado Dermatology Specialists. They could not provide ANY information to her. Nothing. So, we start over, with allergy testing, new vials, new shots... Knowing that Dr. Lemon and Colorado Dermatology Specialists have been recognized by 5280 Magazine for the past 14 years (with less than 3 stars from clients) as top in their field makes me hesitate to believe the magazine's rating for other area doctors. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. 1st, Dr. Friednash who diagnoses me with Melanoma - poof vanishes with no notice to her patients. Still don't know where she went, very odd. Then, I have the fortune of working with Dr. Howe who is kind, cautious (which you want with a derm after a melanoma diagnosis at 30), and smart. Now he is gone too, no surprise. Their office staff are the rudest, most incompetent group of people I have ever had to deal with in a medical setting. No joke. And when you are dealing with cancer, that is the last thing you want to add to your already long pile. Now that Dr. Howe is gone you should literally RUN from this place. And good luck getting your records from them. They make you feel like they are being completely put out in doing anything for their patients. I went to see Dr. Howe after a few years of having an ingrown hair that was mostly only a nuisance when I would knick it shaving. I specifically asked him about the different treatment plans that I could pursue and what the approximate price range would be for each option. Once we agreed on one type of treatment, I felt comfortable knowing how to fit the procedure, which wasn't life-threatening by any means, into my budget. While the treatment was successful and only have minor complaints about the healing process, I became upset when my bill arrived in the mail. The bill was twice the amount of what Dr. Howe quoted during our appointment. I tried calling the office multiple times to talk to the main office manager, Barb, and Dr. Howe. After being treated extremely poorly by other office staff, I finally received a call, three months later, from Barb who only maintained that I was financially responsible for the full amount and will be sent to collections if not paid. I called back once more, requesting to talk with Dr. Howe, and never received a response. I would absolutely not recommend this dermatology office, or doctor, to anyone. The front office staff treated me terribly and the doctor took no responsibility for his staff or for his lack of financial transparency that I tried to establish during my visit. I have had an okay time when I've gone to see Dr. Lemon. She is clearly very knowledgeable and my skin looks much better than it did before her. However my appointments often feel rushed (which is especially frustrating after waiting 2-3 months for an appointment) and I have had a terrible time with the front desk staff. They frequently have no idea what I'm talking about when I've called about specific medications. I just had a horrible experience on the phone with a receptionist that was incredibly rude when I didn't know the name of a medication. I will be taking my healthcare to a provider with kinder and more knowledgable support staff read more

My husband, daughter and I all have had a variety of issues addressed by the doctors at this practice. We have had simple fully body checks and also suspect moles, etc removed. All good experiences and while I see the earlier, negative reviews I thought the front office staff was great. read more

Very disappointed in the receptionist staff. Made an appointment months in advance at a specific location to find out that the location had been switched a few days before the appointment. I simply canceled the appointment, so cannot address an experience with the doctor, but overall experience was poor. read more
