I never even got past the receptionist on the phone because she was so rude! She actually laughed at me when I asked her to clarify the appointment day and time. (This review is valid for both locations, the Midtown location and the Belleview location). You know how, when you plan a doctor's appointment, you anticipate mulling around impatiently in the waiting room for 20+ minutes after your appointment time before you even get in the exam room? And then you plan on being in the exam room another 20-30 minutes before your doctor sees you? That's the routine I've seen at any doctor's office, at least. Well, don't expect to catch up on your Facebook or your Twitter or your Angry Birds when you see CO Dermatology Specialists. I've been a patient of Dr. Frankel since late 2013 and I have been insanely impressed every time I've been. I had an appointment recently, scheduled for 9:30 am I believe. I showed up at 9:22, was in the exam room at 9:28, and was walking out with a prescription around 9:37. It may have been earlier, actually - 9:37 was when I looked at my phone in my car. It's not that Dr. Frankel rushes you in and out. She is just prompt. She is on time and efficiently answers questions. She doesn't hum and haw about "well, maybe we could try this..." She says "How about this option? We can meet up if it doesn't work, and then we can try this option." Quick, efficient, to the point. You can literally be in and out of an appointment faster than going to the gas station, filling up your SUV, and stopping for coffee. I can't say how impressed I am with this office. If you need a dermatologist, try here first. read more

I used to go here for several years. Dr. Meg Lemon was very professional and caring and kind. However, later when I moved out of state, I was not receiving my forwarding mail and a bill for $120 was accidentally lost in the process. Then, fast forward a year or so and received this odd letter from Dr. Meg Lemon saying they were "discontinuing me as a patient". I falsely assumed that I called back to explain the misunderstanding and pay the small amount. The billing office said no way. So I said go ahead and talk to Dr. Lemon because she was always pleasant with me. Later the next day, I received confirmation from the rude billing office that Dr. Lemon REFUSED to see me anymore. I have been going here for years to see Dr. Friednash for acne, and later fillers. When she just disappeared (I was told she moved out east to be with family) I didn't go for a while but needed a touch up for filler. Saw Dr. Lemon whom was amazing and did wonders. A few months later I had run out of my acne medicine and needed a couple of spots checked so I tried to make an apt with Dr. Lemon. I was told there was a hold on my account because I never paid for the Juvederm and I'd have to talk to the billing department if I thought it was an error. I went back and looked and found the charge had cleared on my credit card the day after my apt. back in December. I called the billing department, and they said that they saw my proof of pay, but that the billing manager had to clear it. She then asked if I didn't pay on time, or if I left without paying and called in a payment later. I told her I couldn't remember (I've seen alot of Drs since then and some tell you they'll bill you later and others have you pay then...I don't remember) but since it was only $300 and the charge went through the day after my appointment it didn't seem like an issue. She got very snippy and said I had to make sure I paid before I left and acted as if I was some criminal trying to perform a $10,000 heist. After trying to be made to feel as if I was some low-life scam artist, I decided I would pass this off as a one time mistake and continue as a client. After I didn't hear back for another couple of days, I called again and was told that actually the hold wasn't a financial hold at all, but that Dr. Lemon had put the hold on the system and needed to clear the hold and wouldn't be back for a full week. I thought it was pretty strange that a doctor would be putting a hold on for what the staff thought was a financial concern, but whatever. I should have taken this as a warning, but I waited because I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a new doctor. After not hearing back after a week, I called and was told I was on the list of people for them to call, and that Dr. Lemon had decided she no longer wanted me "in her care." I literally laughed out loud. I said I had never seen her for my acne, just the one time for a standard, non eventful filler (she had even given me an additional prescription and told me not to hesitate to come back for my other skin concerns). . The office staff said she was only the messenger, but get this, she had a number for Dr. Friednash!!! (but knew nothing else about her other than this random number she had) This whole things has been comical, and It's a good thing I have a healthy self-esteem because I'd be feeling pretty crappy right now if not. I think it is incredibly unprofessional to tell someone that essentially a doctor doesn't like them and to get lost. They didn't even offer another doctor in their practice (at that point I sure as hell wouldn't have gone) which makes you wonder if it was really the doctor whom I had very little contact with but seemed to be an amiable experience, or if it was some fear I might take them for a $50 co-pay for my appointment! I fear for anyone else that may have a similar experience. Stay away from this place! Dr. Lemon is a great Dr., so I doubt she had anything to do with this, but it's not worth the risk you'll have dealing with these guys! read more

Had an absolutely wonderful first visit with Dr. Friednash. I had melanoma 6 years ago and it was removed by one of her colleagues in Colorado Springs. I had no idea, but Dr. Friednash was the pathologist (which she does in addition to see patients) who evaluated my tissue sample, diagnosed it and essentially saved my life! What a small world. Great to meet her in person. She completed a thorough body exam and also provided recommendations on clearing my adult hormonal acne. She was warm and friendly while being thorough and efficient. Can't get better than that! read more

Unacceptably rude staff - they weren't truthful with me and hang up on me when I called to check on the status of medication - it was mailed out, but I never received it and they could not provide tracking information. Dr Lemon and her team ignore portal messages. I had a question and wanted to get ahold of them - they didn't return my calls. This is very unfortunate after long relationship with this good doctor, her practice and the way I was treated went downhill. They care about money more than about their patients. After waiting for medication for two and a half weeks and receiving a zero response to phone calls and portal messages, I received inappropriate and aggressive email from the Dr's practice manager Tisha. Meg Lemon will not stand up for her patients. Instead of responding and addressing the issue, she preferred to stand behind her unacceptably rude and unprofessional staff. read more

I have been to doctor after doctor after doctor for the skin condition I have suffered for a couple of years now, I went to Sorkin after reading reviews here on yelp. The dermatologist diagnosed me in 5 mins of visiting with me, and I was on the road to recovery from that visit on!!! I felt I had to add my 2 cents out there for anyone else whose looking for a good dermatologist. The doctors at Sorkin are extremely knowledgeable and have THE best 'bedside' manner I have EVER experienced. Dr. Lemon is AMAZING. I've never had a better doctor in my entire life. She is so kind and so sweet and very attentive to your needs. I've seen a couple other doctors at both locations, when Dr. Lemon was not available. And they also were knowledgeable and easy to work with. As this is my first real experience with dermatologist. I have to give it a 5 star rating. read more

I do not have a problem with Dr Serota; however, if you want to keep your sanity do not use this medical practice. Wish I could give them zero stars. Their back office employees are completely inept. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Now add the fact that most of them are misinformed and lousy with paperwork. They will blame the insurance company, the pharmaceutical company, a company called kroger, and they will blame you for their complete disorganization and ineptness. I find it disheartening that Dr. Lemon, a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, ignored my child's need for care. Two years ago, I felt so fortunate to find Dr. Serota, who at that time practiced at Colorado Dermatology Specialists. He was able to diagnose a skin disorder that my child had been dealing with for several years, with unsuccessful treatments. Dr. Serota pinpointed allergies, and recommended immunotherapy. For the two years we were with Dr. Serota, my child received allergy shots, was 100% better, and had gotten to her 'maintenance dose'. For unforeseen circumstances, Dr. Serota left Colorado Dermatology and has since been unreachable. Dr. Lemon would not fill in for Dr. Serota nor let her staff provide care for my child as Dr. Serota was uncomfortable with allergy shots, which was unbelievable to me as Dr. Serota had been providing them for months. I obtained my child's records, picked up my child's vials, and proceeded to find an allergist who was willing to continue the treatment Dr. Serota had prescribed. The new allergist had questions and reached out to Colorado Dermatology Specialists. They could not provide ANY information to her. Nothing. So, we start over, with allergy testing, new vials, new shots... Knowing that Dr. Lemon and Colorado Dermatology Specialists have been recognized by 5280 Magazine for the past 14 years (with less than 3 stars from clients) as top in their field makes me hesitate to believe the magazine's rating for other area doctors. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. 1st, Dr. Friednash who diagnoses me with Melanoma - poof vanishes with no notice to her patients. Still don't know where she went, very odd. Then, I have the fortune of working with Dr. Howe who is kind, cautious (which you want with a derm after a melanoma diagnosis at 30), and smart. Now he is gone too, no surprise. Their office staff are the rudest, most incompetent group of people I have ever had to deal with in a medical setting. No joke. And when you are dealing with cancer, that is the last thing you want to add to your already long pile. Now that Dr. Howe is gone you should literally RUN from this place. And good luck getting your records from them. They make you feel like they are being completely put out in doing anything for their patients. Completely antiquated and unprofessional way to run a business. You should be ashamed. read more

I went to see Dr. Howe after a few years of having an ingrown hair that was mostly only a nuisance when I would knick it shaving. I specifically asked him about the different treatment plans that I could pursue and what the approximate price range would be for each option. Once we agreed on one type of treatment, I felt comfortable knowing how to fit the procedure, which wasn't life-threatening by any means, into my budget. While the treatment was successful and only have minor complaints about the healing process, I became upset when my bill arrived in the mail. The bill was twice the amount of what Dr. Howe quoted during our appointment. I tried calling the office multiple times to talk to the main office manager, Barb, and Dr. Howe. After being treated extremely poorly by other office staff, I finally received a call, three months later, from Barb who only maintained that I was financially responsible for the full amount and will be sent to collections if not paid. I called back once more, requesting to talk with Dr. Howe, and never received a response. I would absolutely not recommend this dermatology office, or doctor, to anyone. The front office staff treated me terribly and the doctor took no responsibility for his staff or for his lack of financial transparency that I tried to establish during my visit. I have had an okay time when I've gone to see Dr. Lemon. She is clearly very knowledgeable and my skin looks much better than it did before her. However my appointments often feel rushed (which is especially frustrating after waiting 2-3 months for an appointment) and I have had a terrible time with the front desk staff. They frequently have no idea what I'm talking about when I've called about specific medications. I just had a horrible experience on the phone with a receptionist that was incredibly rude when I didn't know the name of a medication. My teen daughter has seen multiple doctors here. Dr. Lemon first, she did a patch test to determine a contact allergy and quickly discovered the ingredient found in beauty products that was causing the problem. Later, Dr. Lemon handled a sun damaged area and annual skin checks. My daughter has had appointments with Dr. Schieve for Keratosis Pilaris and Dr. Frankel for acne and annual skin checks. Her experiences with all three doctors have been excellent. They were experts in our areas of concern and accurately diagnosed and solved issues quickly. I used to love this place when Dr. Friednash was there as she was honest and patient and actually practiced medicine. Unfortunately, she left. When I needed to return, I made an appointment with Dr. Lemon. She is awful. I went to have a plantars wart frozen off and as she was spraying the aerosol can, I told her nothing was coming out and that it must have been empty. She completely ignored me, kept spraying an empty can on my foot and charged me for "surgery"...needless to say, the wart was still there. I went back and explained the situation. They re-treated me, but charged me again for surgery and the wart was not gone. No pain, no blistering. Nothing. I finally just went to my primary who froze it off properly and then made a follow-up appointment to make sure it was gone. Dr. Lemon also tried to convince my that my dry toe nails (from living in dry Colorado) were the result of a fungus and that I should immediately get started on medicine to treat the fungus. She explained that a liver biopsy would be necessary, but worth it for prettier toes. UNBELIEVABLE. I went to a podiatrist who confirmed that I did not have toe fungus and that my nails were just dry and aging. read more

Everything from the front desk ladies, the office manager, nurse and doctors. They all seemed to genuinely care about me and made me feel very comfortable. This was my 2nd time visiting Colo Derm Specialists. I had been here a few years earlier and I saw Dr. Lemon (who was very knowledgeable and smart, by the way). I had found the front desk staff to be rude, so I did not come back. Recently, I returned to see if anything had changed. Lo and behold, it had. The front desk personnel had been replaced with actual competent people, and I was able to be seen and treated quickly. Personally, when I visit a doctor, I don't want the appointment to take hours. Like the doctor, I am on a schedule and I don't need to sit around chatting. I saw that the staff cared about my time, and did not want to waste it. The appointment was quick, and I was still able to get my questions answered. Would recommend 100%. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I went to see dr Frankil about common acne, I've always used topical creams & nothing worked so she suggested acutane, this was the only positive part of my experience there. My second appointment the rude desk clerk tells me I'm an hour late for my appointment when I clearly had the time/date in my phone as well as my reminder card. The next week after my appointment someone in the office forgets to put my information into the computer so I have to wait another 30 days for my medication ! Following that hiccup, the clerk who put my info into the computer put the wrong information, meaning I had to wait another 30 days to start treatment!!!!!! Everyone in the office was forgetful, unprofessional, and unfriendly, never with a smile. Last but not least... they still wanted me to pay my co-pay for all my visits that were a waist of my time! This doctors office is a JOKE and beyond pathetic. Hoping there business fails because they aren't helping anyone. Save yourself the hassle and find yourself another office. read more

I came to sorkin dermatology after I noticed a small mole that had a black spot. I chose them because I didn't have health insurance and they offered a sliding scale. When I arrived the service was professional and office was clean. Dr. Frankel suggested my mole be removed and gave me an estimate of $280 for charges. So I paid this amount when I left the office and assumed no further payment was required. One month later they send me a lab fee of $106 that had to be paid, ok done. Now, nearly 5 months later I recievie a letter from University physicians lab stating I now owe them $150. When I contacted sorkin dermatology they told me that sometimes they send specimens off to a second lab to be tested, so yes I will need to pay them too. I suggest if you need extra lab work and aren't going to cover the cost you should get your patients permission first. All these unexpected fees were the biggest headache of this whole experience. Just be up front about charges. Won't be going back. read more

My wife needed a follow-up procedure, based upon results from a different dermatologist, because we moved cross-country before the procedure could be done. We went here because we saw reviews, including rankings in different "top doctor" publications. We were sorely disappointed. Though I don't necessarily question the quality of the procedure done, we found out afterwards that the doctor here had merely duplicated the procedure done by my wife's original doctor, not the follow-up procedure we actually needed done. And then we still had to be referred to a cosmetic surgeon because this practice couldn't perform the follow-up procedure my wife did need. We had no clue there would need to be follow-up to what we thought was the follow-up procedure...not to mention that this practice charged us the most (for the unneeded, duplicate procedure) out of all the doctors we had to see to get the correct work done. When questioned, this practice merely offered the response--"work was rendered, so work must be paid for"--regardless that to this day, we still have not been given any other explanation for why this unnecessary and duplicative procedure was ever performed, when my wife's other two doctors (including the one this practice referred us to) both questioned why this unnecessary and duplicative procedure was ever done and only served to cause my wife more pain, more recovery time and worse scarring. read more

When I called about advice for when to come in because of a rash (I'm a teacher and can't afford lots of visits and wanted to ask if I should try hydrocortisone cream first), the person who called me back (nurse? receptionist?) came at me in a very strong negative way saying she refused to answer any questions since I hadn't been seen in two years. She kept interrupting me, raising her voice, and repeating I hadn't been seen in two years. She had no idea why I hadn't been seen in so long and to assume negative intentions from the start, interrupt and not listen, and refuse to be helpful when I was planning on coming in regardless made me feel very uncomfortable to deal with them for my health. I will be choosing another healthcare provider in the States. This is not my first negative experience with their unprofessionalism. However, it is the first time I have EVER written a negative review on any healthcare provider on any site. read more
