Came here for some brunch and were positively surprised on how tasty food was. We had watermelon salad and fish tacos. Both were absolutely delicious. Ambiance was super modern and inviting, definitely enjoyed the atmosphere. Service was friendly and they mentioned that place is closing down in 5 days, which is unfortunate. However menu is a little off to be honest. I barely could find something to eat besides fish tacos and a salad. Other things seemed unappealing. It was hard to understand what type of food are they offering. It seems like place is overpriced, like one of the salads $22 which is excessive for a brunch and a watermelon salad was $18 which is definitely overpriced. Great experience overall but I can see the reason they are closing and reopening with a new restaurant. read more

Arrived super early for our Saturday night reservation but was seated inside as requested at a nice quiet table. We ordered drinks, mine being a French 75 and probably the most delicious and perfect cocktail in 5 years of ordering them! We started with the Mezze Platter, loaded with pickled veggies and both hummus and labdeh dips. It was a perfect start to whet our appetites. I had the Spring Pasta containing Bucatini and Oyster Mushrooms in a Garlic Chili Cream sauce that tasted out of this world amazing. Hubby had Katsu Curry, and daughter the Asian Wings. Winds were HUGE and she had to take some home; she wasn't sad about that! I learned today that this restaurant will be closing in two weeks, and am super sad about that, as Chef Traci is one of the most creative and artistic chefs in the area. We came to work from Dunedin Cafe (September 2024) next door and needed lunch. Called ahead and asked about outlets to work from the restaurant and they were extremely kind and accommodating. Attentive service from Ben had us well taken care of. The tomatillo salsa was pretty gooey but had good flavor (we finished it). We got taco specials and the chicken with aioli one which was my favorite bc of the aioli. The cocktails were good, but the pineapple white sangria was a bit tart/sour? I have been here a few times and each time is very good of course the food is amazing it comes from CaraCara. I was in the nest area which is a sub section of the main restaurant with its own entrance. The bartenders are friendly and the patrons are a lot of fun. Came here for lunch and had an excellent meal and service. The ambiance is very relaxed. We ordered the taco of the day which was very good, I had chili garlic udon noodles - delicious and spicy, we also ordered the seafood club - excellent, Korean marinated steak quesadilla- the steak was very good, and the Tom yum meatball sliders. Our server/ bartender was very attentive. We had our toddler with us and came over quickly to ask if she can start something for him. When my friend scheduled her birthday dinner for CaraCara this year, I was looking forward to getting tacos again! However it seems they've rebranded a bit and changed the menu, and unfortunately for me they only do tacos on Tuesdays now. We ended up getting a few share plates as a group instead - we got the beef curry queso, poutine, and edamame. I really liked the GF crisps that came with the queso, and I liked the pork in the poutine a lot. The edamame were good too. Our server was very friendly and kept checking in on us. Split amongst 5 of us, it was an incredibly affordable dinner, and of course, great company! We moved to Dunedin for the cool funky restaurant scene and breweries. Caracara was another one which didn't disappoint. There are plenty of vegan options and many ways to modify the bowls and dishes. We've been here twice and it's quickly become one of our local favorites. read more

Unfortunately we had a disappointing experience here. The menu was very limited. Only few main courses on the menu which mostly labeled as spicy. We were told they can't be customized and couldn't be made less spicy (not kid friendly). we tried various appetizers and 3 entrees, All came in small portions. My mojito was served in a very slim glass, full of ice barely any mojito in it. The salad was $17 for such a small portion with barely any dressing. Jasmine chicken bowl had these called crispy chicken which were mainly flaky stuff with barely any chicken. My husband did Not like his kai soi noodle bowl chicken ( the chicken didn't taste good). Fried spring tasted good but middle was burned. Street dog was good but mostly bread. Elotes tasted good but 2 very small pieces of corn. There is 3.27% up charge for use of credit card. Overall wouldn't recommend specifically for kids with family (we did not try the two kids items (chicken strips and quesadilla) that server told ius but not on menu). read more

Where do I start? I took my wife out for her Birthday today and we decided to try this place in Dunedin. The menu had several Vegan options which my wife loved. She got a Falafel salad and I had the lump crab nachos. We both had drinks, a Mojito for $12 and I had a Mai Tai for $13, both were very strong. My lump crab nachos tasted funky, not sure if it was a dressing or the crab itself. In any event, I finished half and took the rest home. What pissed me off is that they have a 4% surcharge to our bill for using a credit card. Really? F that. All in all, it was a very average visit with a terrible ending. Never again! read more

More choices for diners who want a menu not as Asian influenced. We think it's a great change. The service! Not sure if the restaurant changed hands but the monumentally unpleasant and snippy waiter was not there. That guy really was the reason we stopped going. I had high hopes for this place but it definitely was disappointing. They offered indoor and outdoor seating. We decided to sit inside due to the heat. They offered a full bar and an interesting drink menu. We ordered the Short Rib Quesadilla and the Lump Crab Nachos to share. The Short Rib Quesadilla was bland and fell apart easily. The Short Rib Quesadilla came with a side salad but our waiter offered us fries or a salad. We picked fries. Didn't know and we weren't advised there was a $5 up charge for fries. A really pleasant addition to the Pinellas County and Tampa Bay food scene. There's fusion that can easily seem confusing but it wasn't. The menu offered a nice mix of vegan, vegetarian, meat and poultry along with flavorful sharable options. It can easily go wrong when you read the menu, but the flavor, combination, taste was spot on. Chana masala hummus- I'm a fan. Just perfect flavor with balance of acidity added to it. It will be a fulfilling bite for you. Falafel bao- Again a combination of few of my favorites in one bite. It was perfectly moist, right texture and contrast in texture as well. Flavor was again great! Seoul mate taco- I was quite excited to try out the taco options. Although it was good, but for me it didn't stand up to the previous sharables. It was a bit soggy and I didn't find it outstanding to justify the price of one taco. Ma-po tofu - loved the texture and flavor. Sichuan eggant sauce worked so well with the light crispy tofu and the balance in texture worked well. Only minor complaint will be that it was a bit salty in the end. I'll definitely try this place again for more options. It is a brave and refreshing place and yes 4 stars might just be a bit harsh, but I'll be back to try other food items and the flavor itself will raise it to 5 stars food. read more

#ThankfulThursday2021 As today is Thanksgiving, what better review to give the Thankful Thursday to than a place that can and will serve an amazing meal? On Tuesday, when I was extremely hungry and had no desire to cook, I took the Yelp to look under my collections to see what was close by that I had been waiting to try. And then there was Caracara. I reviewed the pictures, what was said in a few reviews and that was it. Especially the lump crab tacos and nachos. I asked Ben if he wanted to go and he passed, saying he wasn't hungry. Okay, Bye! When I got there, the patio was completely full as it was a beautiful day outside and inside was a cute, intimate setting with a long bar. I sat at the bar as I was alone. The bartender Mark immediately said hello and welcomed me in. I reviewed the menu and noticed that a couple of the items on the Yelp were not on there so I asked Mark about them as I do know that sometimes restaurants will have a "secret" menu or items that are only for those who are in the know. LOL. Sadly, he advised they truly were no longer available. I went with my original desire and thankfully was still on the menu, which was the lump crab nachos. They came out quickly and plated beautifully. I instantly took a picture and sent it to Ben to rub it in. He was like, what's that and what's that, asking what all the ingredients. I got a huge laugh from it because I could tell he was regretting his decision to not come. LOL. Mark came by to see how everything was and I told him wonderful and that I was rubbing it into my boyfriend's face with just how great it was. He loved it. There was a ton of crab on the dish, which let's be honest, most of the time expensive ingredients are lacking. As with all nachos there are some chips that are underneath so do not have any or all the ingredients on them but with a little moving around I was able to have a full chip on all but 3. This is a huge plate too, I was say maybe 10-12 inches in size so very much a sharable dish. I took a picture of a few chips to show Ben just how much crab there was on them so I could justify the price and he was like "you ate it all?" Ahhhh, no... not yet. LOL. Normally, I don't eat that much but this was just sooooo good and we all know that chips don't stay stay crisp. It was a difficult task, but Mark joked with me that he had faith in me. I did it but knew I was gonna be hurting for a while. While I was there, I also spoke with a manager or maybe the owner as he also asked me how everything was and I told him how wonderful it was. He asked how I heard about them and I said Yelp, which he was pleased to hear and when I was walking out, he thanked me again for coming in. When I got home Ben was pissed that I didn't bring home any and called me an a**hole. LOL. But I thought you weren't hungry. I guess my pictures and description had him wanting some (which I knew already). Next time he will come along. read more

Just discovered this restaurant and headed over to give it a try. Great atmospehere, chill vibe. Seating inside and out. Pickle jar was good. Carrots, beets, okra, onion and pickles. Very crunchy and mildly pickled and good. Tokyo Street Dog was absolutely fabulous. I am now on the hunt for the Kewpie japanese mayo that was on it. This is a genius menu item. Crying Tiger Steak Wraps was a miss. The beef was very very chewy and the seared parts were very bitter. Just couldn't get past that bitter grill flavor. Churros for dessert were great. Piping hot, crispy with a soft center, and a dip of whipped creme w/cinnamon and cocoa flavoring. Katrina was a fabulous waitress. The experience was so good, I'm going 5 stars despite the steak wraps not to our liking. Will return soon...and looking forward to it. read more

Second time here. Second time loving it. This is essentially Asian/Latin fusion. If that sounds good to you then there are two places you have to go to: Nitally's near downtown Saint Pete and Caracara. Food is fantastic and flavorful. Dunedin has a lot of good restaurants but this might be the best. Both times we were here we sat on their patio. This time there was live music. It is dog friendly. I'm sure I got a drink during my first trip but I don't recall. This time I got their spicy mango margarita (they don't call it a margarita). It's definitely spicy but it's delicious. As for food, I've now had the Lt Dan (pork) and Kim Jung MMM (chicken or beef but I don't remember) tacos and the chicken and tofu tacos (don't recall the names). All 4 were excellent. I think the Kim and the chicken were the best but it was close and don't discount the tofu. It was awesome. I also got the chicken lettuce wraps and the fried chicken bowls. The wraps weren't anything special unless you add the sauces. I know, that's obvious, they come with sauces, but I try to avoid using them if possible. You cannot, however, avoid the sauces for these-and you'll love it. The chicken bowl was great as well. Even the fried chicken was light and the whole thing had a very delicate but delicious flavor. If only Dunedin wasn't so far then I'd be here much more often. read more

Dunedin is full of so many gems and this is another one. I'm moving out of the area soon and wanted to hit up all of my must-visits on my list before losing the opportunity: Caracara was one of those places. After leaving the beach for the final time (sadness), we cruised over to Dunedin for a Sunday brunch/lunch experience. Crab Nachos: The favorite item for both my wife and I. Short Rib Quesadillas: I didn't love these, but it's probably more about me not totally loving short rib in general, more than anything else. But they were definitely quite messy/greasy, FYI. Bacon: I saw $7 bacon on the menu and figured I had to try it. It was definitely pretty great, but a tad on the dry side. Thai Wings: These were solid. I'd definitely order them again. The decor is hip and modern. We sat inside, which is a fairly narrow area that opens up a bit in the back. There were lots of people enjoying the patio and a couple of folks sitting at the bar. It seemed like a fun place that I'd definitely return to if it weren't for the aforementioned move that we're about to embark on. read more

This is now my new favorite restaurant in Dunedin. Everything about it is amazing. Our server was so fun. Insisted we get the 3 ingredient margarita which was 6 bucks. He was right, it was excellent. Then we split the cauliflower. I loved it. Crispy on the outside with tender cauliflower on the inside. Spiced just right with a yummy green sauce on the side. Then we had those monster chicken wings. Crispy and sweet. Also excellent. And the chicken lettuce wraps. Holy, these were also crispy. Made with thighs, a couple of sauces on the side with pickled carrot and red onion to wrap with the large pieces of lettuce. I can't wait to go back and try some other things on the menu. read more

We ate there yesterday for lunch along with Belvedere martinis. Our bill was around $150 with tax and tip for two. The surprise charges totaled $6 for Tabasco Sauce, Dijon mustard for one sandwich and their CaraCara sauce. This is was a first. We would have appreciated our bartender/server telling us that Tabasco was $2 each for the teeny weeny bottles, the same for Dijon and their special sauce. I have NEVER been charged for condiments in any restaurant and I am well-travelled. We have enjoyed CaraCara for a long time but this is reason not to return. read more

Rode by Caracara a few times during our routine trips to DunedIn and decided to do a Friday night date here. Ambiance: - The atmosphere both indoors and out was lovely. Inside is a clean open space with booths along one wall and the bar on the other. With mood lighting, it is a great date spot. - Outdoor is equally relaxing with a giant oak tree to keep you company. The tree lights up at night which adds to Florida feels. Service: - The server was attentive, knew the menu, and checked back in with us frequently. She made recommendations and corrected the happy hour information as it was incorrectly listed on the drink menu (kudos). Food: - My one "complaint" is that I would not classify this restaurant as a typically tapas. The plates are not small which ultimately led us to trying less dishes than we'd like. My experience with tapas is that 5-6 dishes can serve two people; here we got 4 and brough the majority of 2 home. - We got the bao buns, corn, poutine and kimchi special. - The bao buns were delicious. All the right flavors, a bit of special, and a perfectly steamed bao bun. - The corn was good, the sauce that came with the corn was excellent. My issue is the quality of the corn was lacking. While I appreciate the use of whole vegetables, serving corn on cob is tricky if the corn is not in season or not fully ripe. We would have liked to see a better quality of corn or better presentation (keeping in the husk to distract the eye). - The poutine was delicious. You really can't go wrong with cheese curds, fries and delicious pork in a dish. - The kimchi special also slightly missed the mark. We would have liked to see the kimchi in the dish, instead it was rather hidden and didn't carry much flavor. Drinks: - Yes and yes. The mojito was fantastic and I could have had many more if it was a drinking night. Overall, we really enjoy Caracara and would come back to try some of the other dishes. read more

I've been here a few times, and the new menu is rather disappointing. I loved several items on the old menu, but after tonight I'm not sure I'll return. Our waiter was great, none of this is his fault. We made a reservation to sit outside but they told us on the phone there were heaters. A very cold night in Florida, but we said ok since they had heaters. Well, when we asked that the heaters be turned on, they said they had run out of propane. I heard another table ask as well. Everyone sitting outside had to keep their coats on. Food took a long time, some in our party liked their dish, others thought it was just ok. Like I said, old menu had some great options, new menu seems less exciting. I had the pesto pasta, and it was pretty, but lacked flavor. My brother took me to Dunedin to explore and celebrate. We were planning on eating somewhere else and ended up at Caracara after walking by. The space is nice and comfortable. There are some seats inside and a nice outdoor eating area too. The prices were a little high (although it might be on par for the Main Street area). I chose a crispy chicken bowl which was on the lower end of the menu ($15). It looked really simple, but pretty. It was delicious! The chicken had a thick batter on it that was delightful. It had a crema type sauce on the plate that added a lot of flavor too. My brother went with the short rib poutine (I think it was $22). He let me try it. I did not have any of the fries or fried cheese curds, but I had a bite of the short rib, sauce, and pickled onions. It was a phenomenal bite. His was definitely a better tasting (although pricier and not as healthy) choice. Our waiter was attentive and great. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
