We finally checked out The Kitchen and it was a total hit! First and foremost, the food was absolutely awesome. I highly recommend the brussels sprouts appetizer, everyone in our party loved them. Everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor. To top it off, the waitstaff was absolutely fantastic. They were funny, engaging, and really made the whole experience feel special. Be sure to read through some of the notes written in the "guest book" you get when signing your check! The space is pretty small, so you'll probably need reservations to snag a spot. We were working for a nice restaurant to meet some friends visiting the area while also bringing together other friends who live in Clearwater. I remembered this spot from when it was Green Springs. This bistro is terrific - it has the perfect mix of options for brunch. Would look forward to trying it for dinner. The food was still great and the service was fast and friendly. We didn't over indulge. We just enjoyed a Fried Green Tomato BLT and BLT Benedict - crispy potatoes on the side were divine. Love the setting of the restaurant - it's in a repurposed bungalow. We also sat in the front of the restaurant - it's bright and cheery and quiet - would definitely recommend this spot if you can snag it. The atmosphere in other parts of the restaurant are cozy too - but this spot feels very quiet, even though it's upfront and next to the front door. Would love to come back for another visit. We've lived in SH 5 1/2 years and never ate here. We stopped by on a third Friday in March. They were booked and they took reservations. Somebody in line said they drove up from Sarasota to eat here so we soon realize this was a place to try. We tried it tonight and found a buried treasure. The food was amazing, our server was great. The way the place is set up, in an old house is very cozy and cool. It's not your typical restaurant where it feels like you're eating in a warehouse. Service was not the best. It started off with the host. The host didn't even smile and she looked extremely lost. We told her we had a reservation and she just was looking like we asked her to solve an extremely difficult math problem. No "welcome in" or anything. What really threw me off was the server. Her name was Abigail. Me and my friend asked her a couple times what was good on the menu and all she did was walk away. Yes, WALKED AWAY. Every single time we ask her a question all she responded with was "okay thank you" and walked away. It was like speaking to a wall. Everyone is so chill and nice and helpful with making tricky dining decisions. We haven't been steered wrong yet and really enjoyed everything we've had. Stopped in for breakfast and had such a wonderful experience. Our server was incredibly kind, and everything flowed seamlessly from being seated right away to receiving our food and drinks without any wait. The atmosphere inside was cozy and charming, making it the perfect spot to start the day. The food was excellent. The breakfast tacos were flavorful, but the shrimp and grits truly stole the show, easily some of the best I've ever had. Free street parking was available all around and easy to find, even on the weekend, which made the visit even more convenient. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I've been wanting to try out this place for well over a year, and I finally made the trip down to the kitchen. I'm almost upset I waited so long to try this place out because everything was wonderful from the food to the service. My husband had the lamb and it was so tender that it came easily off the bone. I had the red fish which was equally delicious. We finished off the evening with a decadent s'mores bread pudding. My only critique was that the orzo with the fish could have used a tad more seasoning. But overall, I look forward to coming back. read more

In true safety harbor fashion, this cute little restaurant is located in a house on the corner. Comfortable and cozy choose what part of the house you want to sit in or eat out on the back patio. Dogs welcome outside. The service is attentive with a smile and the menu reads eclectic which i love. So why three stars? The food and drinks just fell a bit short for me and the prices are high for the food you get. The food descriptors sound more delicious than it is. The food wasn't bad, I just expected more especially when you charge $17 for a couple of breakfast street tacos and some burnt potato's. I was there for Brunch and chose that menu item because it was a fan favorite and supposedly their best item. To me I wasn't that impressed. It was just ok. The mimosa has several flavor choice so I tried the dirty pear which was odd but good. The bill is delivered inside of a faux Passport with blank pages to add a note or sign you were there which is a cute touch. Again not fantastic just good. Wow- just what I needed. Relaxed atmosphere, great food, service, and an active spot. I enjoyed the deviled eggs to start (I always order these when on the menu), a delicious and perfectly cooked / seasoned filet, with grits (to die for) on the side. I had two cocktails that actually were cocktails- not to get political but you can't get good cocktails in blue states (MA, NY) as the restaurants are strapped so tight for cash they rob their customers of what they came to enjoy (food portions, alcohol in drinks) I highly recommend The Kitchen for anyone looking for a great meal from a place and staff that appreciates your business. Came here for book club. I made a reservation Saturday night for Sunday evening for dinner for 5 people at 5pm. The staff were excellent and so friendly. Loved the decor and seating throughout the restaurant. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. Menu felt limited and pricey. I ordered the Saganaki, which is Greek cheese that is oven roasted and bathed in olive oil and lemon. Served with bread. This was just okay. I also ordered for the specials menu the Crab and Lobster Farro Arancini. I did not taste or see any lobster and very minimal crab. Not good unfortunately. My husband and I got married across the street. Our wedding party of 5 walked to the restaurant and it added to our intimate ceremony. The staff was amazing and took great care of us. Our group had filet mignons, ribeye, scallop and lamb dinners. The meats were cooked to the temperature each person wanted. We started with house and Caesar salads, very fresh. Our daughter suggested we try The Kitchen initially because a friend's daughter works there. I'm very glad that she did, it was a wonderful experience! We arrived after church on Sunday and as advised, we made a reservation for 12:30. I'm always apprehensive about dining in downtown Safety Harbor at a busy lunchtime and finding a parking spot. So my daughter drove so she could hopefully drop us off close to the entrance. But just across the street was a church parking lot that had a sign that welcomed visitors to park outside of church hours! There were steps at the front entrance that we had to help my wife transit. Later we discovered two separate handicapped ramps and a designated parking spot in the rear. We were seated right away and brought menus, but we had looked at online menus and already knew what we wanted. My wife chose the Stuffed French Toast, our daughter selected the Breakfast Street Tacos and I decided on the Quiche 126, with a side of Feta Grits. We chatted with friends at the next table, who happened to be the one that suggested The Kitchen, plus her daughter worked there. She, Brianna, was our server. She was friendly, helpful and efficient. Even brought me hot sauce after my daughter told her I liked a little heat. Our food came, hot and delicious. As is our custom, we usually order different meals and share with each other so we broaden the number of dishes tasted. All the dishes were very tasty but we all agreed that the Breakfast Street Tacos were the best, along with super fried potato bites. The taco shells were crispy and wonderful! I suggested the shells were cheesy and later that was confirmed. And in a close second was the Feta Grits, creamy smooth and delightful. Another pleasant surprise came with our check inside a fake "Passport", that also help many diner comments. A great experience overall. Great food, superior service and a delight to the senses. Just a bit loud, so talking to the table beside us was difficult. We will be back on a date night to try something else. read more

I normally love The Kitchen. Not tonight. We made a reservation on Open Table for 9pm. The restaurant called and said the kitchen closes at 9pm. What time will we arrive. I told them 8:42. We arrived on time. The waiter was rude from the start, hurrying us through the meal, even asking us to pay while we were still eating. We told the manager, but she was indifferent. We watched the waiter take out multiple garbage cans and then serve our food. The food was good, except my girlfriend thought her salmon had been precooked and just warmed up. It was very disappointing. After the meal Kyle the Chief showed up and apologized. He was very nice, but if we go back again, I will make sure I am there before 8pm. I guess they wanted to close early that night. read more

Food is absolutely amazing. Master chef makes fresh per entry. Split between 3, we got the flaming cheese, the scallop risotto, the short rib, and paired it with a bottle of Cabernet. This is a review of my most recent experience, which was just ok. I came here with a group of friends, there were five of us. I really enjoyed my last experience here, which was a double date, but this time I wasn't enthralled with anything I ate or drank. For starters we got the fish dip, the flaming cheese, and the beef buns. The fish dip was good, but a very small portion. The beef buns were the best bang for your buck and was good, it came with three buns. The cheese was also good, so I think the moral of the story is next time avoid the fish dip. I got the Green Springs Margarita, because I was interested in the mint and the cucumber addition. Weirdly it felt like there was a lot of mint added, but not a strong mint taste. I should have stuck with the dirty martini, which I loved last time. And then for my entree I got the Bronzed Red Drum, which was overwhelmed by the sweet drizzle poured over it. The fish itself tasted a little overcooked as well. This was one of those dishes I forced myself to eat, but I would never order again. It's actually ranks on one of my least favorite dishes I've eaten in a while. I think there was just way too much drizzle. I still would give this place another chance, but would order a different drink and entree next time. read more

Dinner before a show at Ruth Eckerd, this location is pretty convenient to the venue... Surprisingly delicious. Everything from our hamachi appetizer to my Kentucky Mule to my steak dinner.... It's such a cute place, too. And old house with all the unique character that the house must have had... We ate inside, in one of the bar areas, but looks like there's a nice outdoor/deck part of the restaurant... I'd be interested in trying brunch here! Although I'd imagine parking might be a little difficult...it's street parking only. We got a rockstar parking spot right up front, but that was just lucky! read more

I've been dying to try this place for ages. Finally went in for an early dinner. Started with a nice cold Pinot Grigio and a beer. Then we split a couple of appys. The first one was the fish spread. It was delicious with celery and carrots. Crostini on the side. Then we ordered the cauliflower. I'd go back just for another order of that. It's fantastic. The perfect texture and sauce. With a jalapeño aioli on the side for dipping. Then we split the red curry. Very tasty but I wish the carrots had been cooked a little more and my husband thought the same about the rice noodles. We had heard lots about this place and chose Christmas Eve to enjoy. The restaurant is a house converted into a restaurant. Immediately you feel a cozy ambiance. The menu has a great mixture of creative dishes. I got the macadamia crusted mahi mahi served with yucca and roasted pepper. There was a jalapeño cream sauce that was a nice added touch. Very tasty and perfectly cooked. My husband got the espresso and cocoa crusted lamb chops. He was not sure about the mint quinoa but really loved. It also was served with asparagus. There was a pomegranate reduction that also was a nice touch. He was very happy with his dish. For dessert he ordered the cheese cake and thought taste, texture, and consistency was on point.
