First time trying this location. The pizza was great as usual. We did half cheese and half pepperoni. I love the sauce, it's not chunky and has a smooth taste. The garlic cheese bread was delicious and comes with marinara. My mom ordered the deep fried green beans and she loved them. They're served with ranch. I definitely recommend if you haven't been. They are doing some construction to half the building, so they have half the amount of seating but still a good amount. read more

Carbone's is a true neighborhood gem! Whether you're a regular or just discovering it, this place always delivers. They've got a new menu that just started this week with plenty of tasty options, but they've kept a lot of the classics. We enjoyed the House Pizza (ask for it well done--it comes out perfectly crispy and golden), the assorted hot hoagie (one of my personal favorites), and the club sandwich. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Our waitress, Chloe, was handling a full section and even managed a difficult customer with total professionalism. Despite being busy, she gave us great service and kept everything running smoothly. Also, make sure to join their rewards program--it's totally worth it if you're even thinking about coming back (which you will). The cooks dont wash hands they have employees that are underage and smoke on the clock ive seen employees smoke and blow smoke on food while running the food very unprofessional and they've had three employees that quit in the span of just one week not to mention the manager messes around with employees and customers. read more

Food: First pick was the Cheeseburger pizza , smaller size was enough for 3 for a belated birthday get together. I was super excited to be in a family friendly atmosphere but was disappointed immediately. Ambience : We were there at 6:30 for a casual before pizza beverage and waiting for the guest of honor . We ordered Tap beer , after finishing my Tap I could see the disgusting Mug I was given and showed the Server and asked her would you like to drink out of this or even have it served to you ? Well , my replacement Draft poured by the presumably buzzed Bartender disappeared out of the bar area and through the kitchen she walked through and around a corner for a couple of minutes , no longer visible with my Draft . Suddenly the Bartender walks through the kitchen minus my Draft and now it's in the hands of the Server . She steps into view from behind a wall beyond the kitchen with a very concerning look on her face and thus concerning me , she walks through the kitchen and out into to the restaurant area and onto the booths and brings my Draft and sets it down . I said I been watching you two this whole time , ( the Draft should of been placed at the Server station - instead I saw what she did , she could of brought it to me , instead she literally disappeared with my Draft , I am not drinking that ....we continued to wait for our guest and stayed and ate . However , it's changed ,but has the feel of a Dive Bar , it's super rowdy , everyone has to shout talk to even hear themselves , I mean it was 6:30 , I wouldn't bring my grand children there for pizza even at dinner time . We could barely hear ourselves conversate . Basically the Bartender is the loudest and presumably under the influence . On top of the fact she snapped at me when I asked her a question ⁉ when we first arrived. The sign says : wait to be seated . So I asked ...it used to have a family friendly atmosphere. This is my favorite Carbone's. I have been going to the one on Randolph Ave for years. I like this more because they use more cheese and their crust gets crispy. We tried the pickles for the first time based on our servers recommendation. They were pretty good. I will be back for the pizza. We usually like to have our pizza done more, and asked when ordering, but we were so hungry we didn't want to wait longer. read more

The pizza is good and consistent with all the other Carbone's in the Twin Cities. HOWEVER. I have a hard time paying $40+ for one pizza because they use a third party for delivery, and all three times I've attempted delivery have taken over 70 minutes to go less than five miles. I understand they have no control over the drivers because of the service, but IMHO they'd be better off hiring one driver directly and ditching the third parties. Could I have picked it up? Sure, but then don't offer delivery. Also, don't bother calling to check on that $40+ order you placed online, you will get teeth-gritting attitude from the other side. From here forward, if we want pizza, we are either going to pick it up or we're going somewhere else altogether. read more

I have been going here for months ,since working in the area. Always loved this family owned place! Since the orders of take-out only, we had to get our fix by ordering to-go food. My moms favorite, the pizza sandwich was hot, crispy on the outside and hot melty cheese and sauce on the inside. I always get a hoagie and love the toasted bun. I haven't had it in over a year and it tastes just like it always does! Can't wait to stop back once the bar and restaurant ban is lifted and have a Bloody Mary and a dine-in hoagie. This place is too busy for customers. I stopped in on a Wednesday evening to order takeout. The place was at about 20-30% capacity, mostly seated at the bar. I said "hi" to the hostess on my in. the sigh reads "Seat yourself" so I did. And then promptly nothing. The wait staff flitted about the dining room not once acknowledging me. More diners walked in; they got acknowledgments, they got water, they got their drink orders. Not once did anybody stop to check what I needed, and they all avoided even looking my way, despite my being seated at a table right in the middle of the freaking room. I realize there are other customers and people got jobs to do. And being attentive to people is part of that. I waited about 15 minutes and left. There are a thousand pizza places in this metro. Go to one of those and avoid this place. read more

They guy who owns this place is what will make me keep coming back. We just had garlic cheese bread with his homemade marinara at the bar with a couple of beers. His recommendation when we wanted an appetizer, and you can't go wrong. Really soft garlic bread with lots of cheese and a large cup of sauce to make it complete (we had to ask for the sauce on the side). What do I love about the bar? Frosted beer mugs!! There's a saying that familiarity breeds contempt. Well, in this case, familiarity bred neglect. We drive by Carbone's countless times, as we live nearby. Their lot is always full and we've never had a bad time there. Yet, it took us YEARS to return. This is partly because of the ridiculous dome across the street from it. It's one of the hallmarks of West St. Paul losing its personality to suburban-minded people. Anyway, back to Carbone's. We were seated right away and greeted quickly by our waitress. He ordered the Italian sausage sandwich. I got the lasagna. We're still in love with what we ate. I kid you not. We haven't stopped thinking about them. On top of the food being great, our waitress was attentive and funny as hell. I looked like I was about to burst and asked for a box. She told me that I HAD to finish my meal. She laughed hard at the look I had on my face when she said that. She cracked various jokes throughout our dinner. I was glad to feel welcome. We will definitely be back, and much sooner than years. I have tried to continue supporting and ordering but tonight will bring a closure to my local loyalty. last week I ordered and half my order arrived 25 minutes late. I called and a young person listened to my issue and made me feel like I was bothering her as she snapped back, hold I'll talk to my manager. I waited, although awkward and she came back to phone with a laugh in her voice to Me. she offered me a dollar back or she would save my name and next time I would get extra this or that. I was not looking for anything free but what I paid for so I opted against the 'huge' dollar back and let it be. so fast forward to tonight 2 weeks later. anyways I was going to order, female picked up and stated... carbones can you hol....... and I responded yea to a dead already holding line. I placed order as she smacked her gum. I felt like I was bothering her:not sure but even I felt bad like maybe I was bothering her! She took order-I left out promised extras-was told 30 minutes. so 75 minutes later I called. Again same rude person I spoke to initially. Explained my order was 45 minutes late. She responded that my order went out 20 minutes ago with 5 orders so expect it. so I waited. So I called again after another 30 minutes and she was very rude and short. I've heard a lot about their pizza, so I decided to finally give them a shot. My sausage pizza had too much cheese. It was more than needed for the size I purchased. I could only eat half and I orderd the smallest size(which I normally would have eaten with no problem). When I reheated it the pizza got hard and I couldn't eat it. Warning: they will screw your order up here, and they will get mad at you if you don't like it. I ordered a large cheese deep-pan pizza, and when I got it home there was a single piece of pepperoni in the middle of it. I don't eat pepperoni, which is why I didn't order pepperoni. When I called to ask why there was pepperoni in the pizza, I was passed to the cook, Tyler, who had a nasty attitude and said the problem wasn't putting pepperoni in a pizza ordered without it, but that he hadn't taken it off before serving it to me. I went in the next day to speak with a manager, Eddie. The manager obviously didn't care, and tried to shortchange me on the refund for the befouled pizza I brought back to them. They don't care what you get in your order, and if they care this little about the customer when they get things wrong, they just don't care if they get things wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if other gross things are happening in that kitchen--they just don't care about the quality of the food they sell you or what goes into it that you don't want there. My in-laws use this place as a special occasion location at least a couple of times a year, and I don't at all object. Its kid friendly (both in terms of food and service) and price is reasonable. I think the pizza here is above average, not Punch or Eden level, but significantly better than the Dominoes and Pizza Huts of the world. Crust is thin and tasty - it adds to the flavor rather than merely being a surface for the toppings. There was a recent remodel recently, and one room became significantly more "bar room" like, but was still welcoming. I discovered too late that they have what appeared to be a broader selection of beers than they had in the past, and I look forward to exploring that in future visits. read more

Ordered a large ($15) sausage pizza Monday night for take-out. 6:15 PM Horrible, overpriced and the size of most other competitors medium sized pies. We didn't bother to eat most of it, inedible, so we tossed it in the garbage. The sauce must have been made with too much salt. It was so sparse, the salt was all you tasted. The thin crust was rubbery, bland and uneven thickness. Not even close to warm either. There are plenty of other pizzerias around and one of those will get our business. When my extra large family decides to get together, we almost always come here for pizza. When we're all present, there are 27 of us and still growing so you know we're a handful. This Carbone's never blinks. They stick us on the right side of the restaurant because they have a long booth and tables there and they don't really bring other tables to that side so it's almost like having a private room. We love getting their dinner special, 1 large pizza with 2 toppings, cheese bread & a pitcher of pop for $20. It's great when trying to feed all those people. Service has always been good. We almost always end up with 3 sausage & green olive pizzas but they're tasty so we have zero complaints. In fact, I'd venture to say we haven't had a bad experience here to date. Went in during prime Friday time and was seated right away. The service was good. The decor was plain, but decent. We ordered onion ring and French fries, both were crisp and tasted good. For dinner, we ordered the deep pan with pepperoni and sausage. The pie was awesome. We used to come here all the time in the past, but lately we have been disappointed more and more. Tonight the Caesar Salad I ordered was pathetic. A few croutons, a little bit of cheese and the lettuce leaves were huge! The dressing was on the side and was very watered down. Also the spagetti sauce was way too salty. We both had ordered the spagetti. It used to be so good. Please for heavens sake, either turn the music OFF or choose something else. It sounds like people are just making noise. It is NOT MUSIC.
