Every time I'm in the state I have to get to The Italian Pie Shoppe. I always order my favorite deep dish spinach with extra garlic. Served up hot with a crispy buttery crust that can't be beat! On point as always. I preferred the Grand Ave location because it had seating inside. Sadly the Randolph location only has take out or sit at the outside table. It's a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy my favorite pizza today so I did. If I'm having pizza, this is the one I want. Seated immediately on a Saturday at 5pm. Place got busier as we were there. Friendly service. I had wine but would it preferred it in a wineglass vs a small glass jar. No dark beers on tap for my husband. I had a Chicago Torpedo sandwich. It was good-filling and fresh ingredients. My husband had baked spaghetti and a side salad. He enjoyed both. Salad very fresh. I'm not one to post scathing comments about restaurants but today's pizza was the worst experience I've ever had with any pizza restaurant ever. I've eaten here before and it was always good. I ordered a South of the border taco pizza. Certain variations are better than others but the best part of this particular pie was the taco sauce which was not house made, I saw the Ortega bottle. The deep dish pie dough was still very undercooked. The lettuce was not shredded, the sliced, not diced tomatoes were thick and the whole presentation was very rushed. For a $34 pizza it was not that great. I liked the chicken, onion, and black olives on it. But the whole pie was doughy. There was never any mention of cheddar cheese or sour cream for this pie. The ambiance of the restaurant was amazing. I will be back to get traditional pies. I was just not a big fan of the salad on top of my pizza. read more

An old standby on Yankee Doodle. I always come use my birthday coupon here and get a pizza to share. The Brocchi is also one of my favorite things here. Think pizza fries mixed with broccoli. My friends and I from work were on a team meeting down in Eagan, south of the Twin Cities and before we headed out to Feed my Starving Children for a volunteer event. We ordered a bunch of Greek salads, which were awesome and 4 pizzas. Meat lovers, spinach, Margherita and vegetarian. The salads were huge and had a ton of toppings and the Italian dressing was solid. I tried the margherita and meat lovers pizza. The were both okay, nothing special and my co-worker said there seemed like there was no spinach in the spinach pizza. The salads were amazing, but the pizza had something left to be desired. The deep dish ones, did look good, but no one said "This is amazing!" It was nearby our office and the delivery was a little later than they said it would be. read more

My wife and I have fond memories of this place but hadn't visited for a while. When we learned of the new ownership, a man we have great confidence in, we decided to go back for lunch today. We were extremely satisfied but not surprised. George (Wildcats) is known for being a hands on owner that loves his customers and employees. This is a great option for a nice Italian meal or pizza. Have tried them 5-7 times over the years and always felt they were overpriced and unorganized. Today is the last straw. We paid over $60 for two large pizzas and a sandwich, one of the pizzas was supreme. The sandwich was good, the supreme pizza was blah, soggy crust and veggies were undercooked and way too many veggies. The meat was good but literally drowning in green peppers and onions. One of the onion pieces was huge...like who wants a 1.5 inch triangle piece of onion. With that said, for this price, Briano's is solid or carboni's is decent. read more

There was like 2 - 3 penne noodles per slice with mostly some cheese and bacon it tasted like breakfast. Would be good with lots more penne noodles like a solid layer or so of them. And maybe add in green pepper? Maybe we should of gone to the St Paul location? I was waxing nostalgic. Decided to order a pizza and pick it up. The person who took our order never asked for a name. When we got there to pick up the pizza, they couldn't locate it. Terrible. I would order from every other pizza chain location before I go here again. It was not an off night, based on my after-the-fact review of others comments, that goes back years. We ordered takeout tonight from the Eagan location: a side of cheese bread, a thin crust Margherita pizza and a deep dish Meat Lover Combo. The basic cheese bread was the best thing to come out of the meal and even that was grade-school cafeteria quality. The Margherita pizza here should not be allowed to carry the title - nothing appears fresh or characteristic of an actual Margherita pizza (and not in a good way). The Meat Lover Combo was worse. The shoppe did not even bother to cut the deep dish pizza and it appeared the meat is just stacked on after-the-fact without being cooked onto the pizza. It was unappetizing - like a cold-cut stack of meat atop a hot pizza. The crust texture and flavor were equally unimpressive. I sat inside while I waited for my to-go order on a bench in front of the register. The inside decor is nice with an old world charm, but it stopped there. Several staff bickered between each other and from what I saw, multiple of the employees were without masks. To be fair, I wouldn't be writing this review, but for spending a decent amount of money for terrible food. Good food can forgive other negatives, at least in my world. I didn't read the other reviews, but me and the hubs had a 5 star experience. Friendly staff and the chef even checked on us. We had a Chicago style deep dish, the only difference being a thin layer of crust on top of the cheese and pepperoni, then sauce. We went for a late lunch and got a half order of Italian Fries for an appetizer. I will be trying to re-create a low carb version at home! read more

This place reminds me of the pizza shop of my childhood with the dim lighting, wood chairs/stool and tables, and stained glass overhead lights. Went here for the first time last night and was underwhelmed- wine was good, I liked the old school vibe, and godfather salad was fine. I find it strange to serve whole slices of deli meat on a salad when it takes five seconds to chop, but whatever. Our big mistake was ordering the margarita pizza- cheese was nearly non-existent as it was buried beneath a good half-inch of thick marinara sauce and obviously canned diced tomatoes. Basil? Olive oil? Fresh mozzarella? Nah. When we complained to the hostess who walked by her response was "ours is different"... my response was how was I supposed to know that? She did get our server who did her best to correct the issue with a different pizza expediently (which was flavorless btw). All in all overpriced and lacking taste. read more

OMG their deep dish pizza is a burst of flavor in your mouth. Its sooo good. Not kidding you, the pizzas are huge with a amazing crust that isn't greasy like what you would expect from the typical deep dish. They aren't cheap on their toppings or skimp on them every bites gives you a mouthful of food. The meat lovers is my favorite so far. If you sign up for their newsletter online they have coupon deals. They also have a freezer right in the front that has some frozen pizzas for you to take home and bake if you are the grab and go kind of person. and Takeout they make their pizza's fresh so give them a call ahead of time so you don't have to wait around because the strip mall they are located in doesn't have much other than a fantastic sams and a mexican restaurant next door. I ordered food for takeout and it was indeed tasty and enjoyable. Unfortunately, I was pretty frustrated with what I saw in the restaurant. There were at least 3 employees without masks on (direct violation of executive order 20-81) and what's worse two of them were working with/standing directly in front of customer food. Another employee had their mask pulled down leaving their nose exposed. Covid-19 is a serious issue and regardless of that, it is illegal to violate an executive order especially as a business. Food was good but that's meaningless if they don't take customer and employee safety seriously. read more

We visited the Eagan MN location of this pizza restaurant. It is a nice local place in a strip mall. The kind you will go to with your family or a small group of friends. The staff were all really nice and the place was comfortable and clean. We had a deep dish with sausage and mushroom. The crust was very good and thick. The toppings and cheese were also very good. However, I like a little more sauce on my pizza and we asked for some on the side to add to it. We also ordered a thin crust pepperoni and mushroom which conveniently came sliced into little party squares. (We had a 4 year old with us). This one I liked a lot. Good balance with crust sauce and cheese and the toppings were great. I like to add salad onto my pizza (this may be an easy coast thing apparently because my family from MN was shocked when I did it.). We got the Godfather salad. Iceberg with ham and salami and n italian style dressing. It was a nice fresh salad. Overall a nice spot and a simple pizza joint. read more

Literally 4 small crumbs of hamburger per slice with absolutely NO taco seasoning flavor. Onions were raw and tomatoes were hard and flavorless. Saturday night and searching for a place to get pizza in Eagan brought us to the "Italian Pie Shoppe & Winery" (where there only 3 wines to choose from??). Located in a strip mall, the exterior and interior of the restaurant are very charming. There is a lot of brick, soft lighting, and pictures of gangsters from the early to mid-1900s inside. The place was crowded and we had a wait of about 10 minutes, which was fine. Unfortunately, the charm ended there. Our server was friendly, but the food was bland. We ordered garlic bread ($4) to share. Honestly, I think the 6 white, toast halves came out of a toaster and were sprinkled with parsley and delivered. The garlic taste was non-existent and the toast was extremely dry. We asked for a side of marinara to dip the tasteless concoction in and that helped. Slightly. I stared longingly at the neighboring table with its order of cheese bread. I have to imagine it tasted better. We ordered a pizza - a large, meat lover Combo with a thin crust ($22). Hmm. It had nothing on Totinos except that it cost $20 more and took close to an hour to be delivered to our table. Add some beers and our total was $44 + tip for our meal. The value just wasn't there for me. While the staff is friendly and the place is cute, there are far too many pizza places with better prices and shorter wait times. The menu is large and offers pastas, sandwiches, and salads as well. Maybe that's what the regulars go in for. For me, I'll leave it to them. read more

Had a miserable experience here tonight. Service started out fine, drinks were ordered and delivered, then everything started going downhill. The waitress returned to take our orders. She doesn't use a notepad so I figured she was an expert at her craft, even though we had a large party of 8. She then returned 15 minutes later, with a notepad, saying she forgot her notepad the first time, and made everyone repeat their orders. At this point I was growing extremely skeptical of this establishment, and the oddly dressed headless mannequin behind me was really adding to my distress. Not being in a pizza mood, I had ordered the greek salad with chicken, and, since at this point I was really doubting our waitress's abilities, made sure to confirm that she had added chicken to my order before she disappeared again. After I asked her this simple query, she stared at me like I had asked her a question in an alien language...for about 5-7 whole seconds...before writing down that I wanted chicken on my salad. Then she walked away, leaving us all in a confused stupor. Several of us commented, jokingly, that something in our order would be wrong when it arrived. If only we know how wrong it would be. After a completely disproportionately long wait for 2 pizzas and a salad, the food arrived, and I was immediately horrified by my salad. The lettuce was wilted and soggy, drenched in some unidentifiable oily liquid, and the only vegetables besides the sad lettuce were some equally sad banana peppers, maybe 3 black olive pieces and a hunk of an unripe, wet tomato on the side of the plate. Don't even get me started on the chicken...I'm pretty sure it was canned. It gave the whole salad an unsettling cat food vibe. BOTH of the pizzas the rest of us ordered were wrong. Where green olives were requested there where black olives, and vice versa. One pizza was supposed to be deep dish and wasn't. I don't even know how one mixes up one entirely different crust from another. It's a sin, really. Then, when this was all pointed out to the waitress, she got defensive and said it was because she had to go help out in the kitchen, and then blamed my boyfriend for not repeating the order back to her again after she wrote it down. Okay? At this point, it was kind of an out of body experience because I never dreamed service could be so bad, anywhere. The incorrect pizza wasn't taken off the bill either. Upon arriving home with the correct, boxed up deep dish pizza we originally ordered, we opened the box AND... It was wrong too. Sorry Italian Pie Shoppe. In doing my review of Savoy's yesterday, it reminded me of this little restaurant in Eagan. I've only eaten on location once or twice. One of the times was the day Paul Wellstone was killed, so I remember the place well. The restaurant is long and narrow, but not too loud. There are few TVs strewn about to distract you from who you're eating with and decorated with lots of old pictures, newspapers,and trinkets. Very nice atmosphere. I've only been there during the day and I'm not much of a drinker, so I can't speak to the winery aspect of their restaurant. The pizza is comparable to other pizzerias in The Cities. It's a bit greasy, but you don't eat pizza for health reasons. I wouldn't necessarily choose the Itailian Pie Shoppe over other local pizza joints, but it's definitely one of the places we consider whenever the crew at work wants pizza. read more

One of my top time favorite pizza joints. My family has been eating here since I was very young. We frequented the old Grand Ave. location on weekends, where owner Jim Basta would play the organ and I was fascinated by The Godfather theme decor. The pizza is just so good. Greasy enough, salty and saucy enough. They cut their pies in squares, which I can't imagine any other way. The Italian fries are a MUST. I haven't had them this good anywhere. The Brocchi is also a MUST. It's Italian fries but with cheddar cheese and broccoli. SO good. It's the seasoning, and their special dipping sauce. Most people probably don't even consider ordering a salad when at a pizza joint, but insider tip- definitely take the Rosa house Italian dressing home. It's not on the menu but they will sell it to you in an 8oz mason jar. It's like $8 but worth every penny. I literally can drink spoonfuls of the stuff! read more

This is one of my favorites; I can't tell you how many times I've been here, it's so good. I love my Italian pie; I've tried pizza places all around the Twin Cities and none come close to The Italian Pie Shoppe! They have secret spices and sauce that makes it taste so good, the pie just melts in your mouth while you devour into the pan pizza. Warning, with anything that tastes so incredibly good, you'll need to wait up to 40 minutes for the deep dish to be done. It really hurts when you're waiting and you know what is coming. The anticipation is so hard, the wait is well worth it! You can order anything on the menu, you won't be disappointed! You can build your own Lasagna.
