Peddle engages the seller, asks a bunch of questions, and quotes the price they will pay. I was surprised when they referred the actual sale of the vehicle to Car King Motors (aka Johnny Cash for Cars Auction). I can only assume they use the name Car King Motors (not listed anywhere, no business cards, no website, no license) to try and deflect customer complaints. The buyer, from Car King Motor (aka Johnny Cash for Cars), showed up and tried to buy the vehicle for $300 less than the promised price from Peddle. He insisted that we misrepresented the car to Peddle because the seat was ripped. We told Peddle the seat was trashed in a very blunt terms ("chewed up and trashed"). So any dishonesty is on Car King Motors (aka John Cash for Cars) and Peddle. They entire process left a terrible taste in my mouth....Yuck! We asked him to leave and stated we will easily get more $ on Criag's list for the vehicle after which they increase the offer by $200. Lesson learned, don't accept the first offer! These guys are used car salesmen/buyers. They are going to try and pay as little as possible and come up with all sorts of lame excuses for why the vehicle is worth more (if selling) or less (if buying). Its just one of those shifty used car businesses. Anyways, the entire process was very distrustful starting with the Peddle quote, referral, and then the actual sale of the vehicle. Also, if you do go through this same process; be absolutely sure to complete the NRL (NOTICE OF TRANSFER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY) on the DMV website (https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/titles/title-transfers-and-changes/notice-of-transfer-and-release-of-liability-nrl/). These guys are not going to register the vehicle until it is auctioned off and the new buyer is responsible to register it......which maybe a while or never happen at all. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is that we got closer to the quoted price from Peddle after the unpleasant back and forth, the check was good, and the vehicle was picked up promptly (overnight). Since the quote started online, it was an easy process to get registered by scanning a barcode and answering a few questions at the window. Once they test drove the car, the quote was the same. I was then given a list of instructions for my Tesla to reset it to its original factory settings. Please note that you have to do all the steps, even the step for the associate. Once that was done, I was brought over to talk to one of reps who presented the paperwork to sign. It was minimal and the explanation was clear. My balance due at the bank will be handled by Carmax and I was given the remainder of the profit via check. The process was pretty seamless! I'd definitely come back again if I have to sell my car.

I even went as far as sharing my private insurance settlement documents ($11,500+) with my associate, Maria, just to prove I wasn't wasting anyone's time while waiting for the check to clear. Despite this, CarMax Kearny Mesa has been a logistical nightmare. I live in Carlsbad, and after making multiple trips down there (a 45-80 minute haul each way), their 'solution' to a minor insurance delay was to send me an automated Salesforce threat stating they would release the car if I didn't show up for a third time on Monday. Maria is 'off' on Monday, and management is apparently content letting a bot handle their business. They are willing to blow up a guaranteed, funded deal over a 48-hour administrative window. If you want to be treated like a person--especially if you've done the work to prove you're a serious buyer--go literally anywhere else. This isn't 'Express' service; it's a 'computer-says-no' bureaucracy that doesn't care about your time, your commute, or your business.
