Absolutely fantastic experience! They made the Cadillac margarita spicy for me, and it was perfect. The drinks were absolutely delicious, and every dish we tried was outstanding. The turkey sub was incredibly fresh, the hand-cut fries were honestly some of the best I've ever had, and the garlic wings were unbelievably tender and packed with flavor, completely irresistible. The place is located just a few minutes away from the beach. We came here for their sourdough pizza, and ended up really loving the Padre. It's flavors are super unique, and the crust is crispy yet fluffy! The buffalo cauliflower, smashburger sliders, and the spinach ravioli were all delicious as well. Love this place. The food is quality and consistent, the staff are friendly, my husband likes the beers in tap and I appreciate the N/A options. My friend's daughter said the turkey sandwich was the best sandwich she's ever had. I love the sourdough crust! My husband's go to is the pepperoni pizza, while my favorite is the pesto breadsticks. We also like ordering the Cesar salad and Brussels sprouts. There's always a good vibe when the Padres are playing and Fiesta del Sol is going on. It's a large open airy space so during the summertime it's a good place to cool off without feeling like you're stuck inside. Came here on the way back from SD with friends. Staff were very friendly and seated us quickly. We ordered , wine and a margarita, both of which were very tasty. We ordered wings, fries and a margherita pizza half with and half without cheese. Sourdough crust was soft and works perfectly with the flavors. The owner came and greeted us and was very nice and asked us about the food. I was in the mood for a certain type of bill and boy Chaunceys really nailed it. Seriously the most satisfied I have been in a long time while enjoying pizza. I had the cheesy garlic bread too. Both incredibly enjoyable. Very large portions. The staff is really nice. You walk in and make your order and pay for it and take your order number to a table. Then if you want a drink you go to the bar itself. I wasn't a big fan or having to present my credit card twice but only a minor thing. It's also pretty loud because it is a sports bar. They have pizza by the slice or you can order a fresh pizza which comes out fairly quick. But however long it takes, it's more than worth it because their pizza is incredible! !! read more

So we found this place on Google Maps. It looked appetizing and it was... but when we arrived it was kinda empty. Bad sign. And it shoulda been our first red flag. Food was 3/5 Service was 1/5. It was our first time here. My friend and I didn't wanna do an hour wait at the chaotic yet popular Pizza Port nearby, so we were excited to try Chauncey's. When we walked in, just for a few seconds, we were trying to figure out whether it's one of those places you seat yourself at, wait by the door, or just go up to the people at the bar. It was pretty empty there, so hard to tell. A woman from behind the bar asked, "What can I do for you?" I say, "Pizza?" (lol, like I meant to say we'd like to order food or see the menu). You couldn't have just said, "Table for 2?" or "Okay, I will seat you both with some menus" or whatever. I don't know man, I don't work there! But she does! Do better. Although they were busy they were running food out but this is where it went down hill. The article in 'The Coast News', dated May 29, 2026, interested us enough to make the trip from Oceanside to Chauncey's Pizza in Solana Beach and it was a trip wasted to experience average Pizza. As a retired Chef that respects how difficult the restaurant business has become, I am continually amazed at the reviews by customers of the many pizza restaurants in San Diego county. Many of these erroneous reviews are 4 Stars and higher for pizza that should only rate 2 to 2-1/2 Stars at most. Also, I did not taste the distinctive flavor profile of the Sourdough crust. The red sauce was bland, and there was very little seasoning on the pizza. The staff was very friendly and attentive to all our needs during our visit. I don't want to bury the lead so let me start off with this: a few weeks ago I had the single most bizarre restaurant service experience of my life. In the worst possible way. But ... let's start with the good stuff. The good: My wife and I have been coming to Chauncy's at least a few times a month since we moved here from the Bay Area last summer. Overall, the experience has been fine. The food ... one of our favorite pizza's in the area. A good break from the usual New York style that is everywhere in this area. The service has also always been great. If we dine in, we usually sit at the bar and eat a late lunch and then take a "very light cheese pizza" home for my kid (he doesn't like a lot of cheese - texture thing). Every time. Other times we just pick up a "very light cheese pizza" on the way home from Fidel's after our usual Friday date night. For nearly a year, every experience was exactly the same for either of those options. The food and service are always solid, the "very light cheese pizza" with the appropriate amount of cheese. The bad: a few weeks ago, my wife and I wrap up date night at Fidel's. She places the order on the phone before we head from Fidel's to Chauncy's. She places the order, and I hear the usual "one medium very light cheese pizza please - like BARELY any cheese". She gets through the ordering process and tells me the dude was super short and rude with her on the phone from the second he picked up. I tell her they're probably just busy, etc. We drive over the Chauncy's on the way home and this series of events played out exactly this way: - I walk in, nobody in the place - I walk over to the register to the guy taking orders and say "I have a medium light cheese to go" - He says "it just came out, they're cutting it now". I look through the glass at the guy in the back cutting the pizza, and it's swimming with cheese. It looks like an extra cheese pizza. - I say "that's a lot of cheese, it's supposed to be VERY light cheese". - The actual response, no exaggeration "ok, so what do you want me to do about it?" - I couldn't believe it but, whatever, it's date night and Fidel's was awesome so I keep calm and tell him I'd like a very light cheese pizza please. - He rolls his eyes (no joke), goes into the back, talks to the pizza guy, comes back out and tells me "if we make you another pizza you're going to have to pay for it". Clearly my wife's earlier comment about this guy being rude was accurate, and had nothing to do with how busy they were. - Again, couldn't believe it. I want to pay for what I ordered ... but I didn't even say that. I just calmly asked to speak with the guy in the back because clearly he's the one making the call. - Another big eye roll. - He comes back out and tells me they will re-make the pizza. 20 minutes later, our usual "very light cheese pizza" was ready to go. So Chauncy's - in the year we've been going to your place, I've never had an experience like this and I have never seen this guy there taking orders before this night. He's not doing you any favors. We haven't been back since. I'm sure we'll get over it with time, but the whole thing was just really off-putting. If you need more information, or an exact date, I can provide that. Great experience all around. Bar and restaurant super clean, with many TVs so that you can follow your sport of choice. Friendly and prompt service without making you feel rushed. I would like to think I am a decent pizza connoisseur having been born and raised eating legendary New Haven, CT pizza (Pepe's, Sally's) and then have pursued and experienced claimed top pizza venues in the US and in Europe. Chauncey's is definitely not one of your run-of-the-mill pizza joints. The quality and thus the taste of their pizza's is right up there with some of the best I have had. I would actually say that the margarita pizza is hands down the best I have had yet in San Diego.
