Came here for breakfast on the Fourth of July for the first time. I loved it! The vibe is chill and beachy while being modern at the same time. Our server, Zach was great as well as the rest of the staff. The food was delicious. We will definitely come here again. The parking lot gets full easily but not a problem when you are going there for breakfast.

Stopped by this place on a whim! Was a really good choice for a casual but nice dinner on a Wednesday. Very friendly staff--Zach or Zack (unsure of his spelling) was great!!! He took care of us. The orange wine was funky, just how I like it. The cocktails were not too strong, and very flavorful and refreshing. Apps especially the ceviche (not pictured) were unique, light, and so tasty. The braised beef dish was so tender. The Cesar salad was good, and the fluffy big baked croutons w/cheese inside was unique but a little too rich for my taste. It could've used a little more salad dressing too. And the chicken added to it was quite dry and not flavorful. We would come back. :)

First visit and loved everything about this place! Location is so good, indoor/outdoor seating, cute ambiance, and delicious food. The cesar salad is a must!!! The double double was also so good! Server was very friendly and attentive to us. He found out it was my birthday and brought me a little dessert too!

One of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been to! Love the open air theme. It is dog friendly and has the cutest dog menu. Love the blueberry smoothie- delicious and refreshing

The ambiance at Waverly is unmatched. It's very laid back and makes me feel like I'm on vacation. We have always done walk in and usually get seated even though we do not have a reservation. Come early though (before 11AM)! For brunch I ended up ordering the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. It has a sunny side eye on top along with prosciutto and creamy Gruyère cheese sauce. Looks like an art piece! Super yummy and decently priced. Service is tentative and waitress was super friendly and enjoyed our conversation. We will have to come back for their lunch hours as a few items caught my eye.

Very Beautiful and relaxing place First time visiting from LA and I would definitely consider coming back every time I visit La Jolla. The service is quick and fast. They are absolutely professional, not like the type of servers who come to your table with weird body language and very high tones." BTW this is something I always pay attention to" The food was delicious! I got the avocado toast with sunny side up and my husband got the turkish poached eggs and he also loved it. The beverages were fantastic as well. My matcha Latte was very warm and lovely. The red drink is on the healthy shot list, sorry I can't recall the name at this moment but it was very refreshing. Thank you again and hope to see you all soon again!

Had a great brunch experience here! The food here is great and the vibe is even better. Love the laidback feel and was very surprised that they had a DJ playing live. SHAKSHOUKA * 18 This was super yummy. They use San Marzano tomatoes, which are the best tomatoes for any type of tomato sauces (not to mention marinara). The poached egg on top was also cooked perfectly, and the sourdough bread was the right balance of crispy and chewy. CREME BRULEE FRENCH TOAST * 16 This was better than I expected. Not sure what I was imagining for a creme brulee french toast, but they really captured the creme brulee flavor and texture. The french toast did't come with syrup, so if you're big on that, this might not be one for you. The sweetness was perfect in my opinion, and the fruits were very fresh. BREAKFAST RICE BOWL * 18 My friend got this one, so I can't quite speak for him, but he seemed to really enjoy it. The scrambled eggs looked fluffy and the greens looked fresh. Great macro options if you're looking to not crash after brunch. DARK HORSE * 19 This was a great drink! Well mixed and the flavors were good, I'm not surprised that it's a staple on the drinks menu (they have seasonal cocktails). My friend who comes here often recommended it and I agree with him. I would definitely get this again. THE WAVERLY * 19 If you're a gin fan, this is a great option. Another staple on their cocktail menu. Gin isn't my go-to, but I decided to give this a try, seeing that it was at the top of the menu. I'm glad I did because it was good. The service was great here, even though it's quite busy on weekends. I think it would be best to make a reservation and arrive early since parking can be an issue. The decor inside is very nice and the booth seats are super comfy. Not sure if the DJ is always there, but it can be a bit loud if you are looking for some place quiet for conversation, but if you aren't it's a really great vibe.

    Lamb shawarma wrap and potatoes

Waverly in Cardiff is a great brunch spot with a lively vibe and beautiful interior decor. The menu is nicely curated, offering everything from savory options like the Sonoma lamb shawarma wrap and sausage egg sandwiches to fun dishes like funfetti pancakes and crème brûlée French toast. Visited on Easter Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. The live DJ spinning vinyl added a fun touch--starting with upbeat tunes and later switching to soulful oldies, which felt a bit unexpected but still enjoyable. Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking, next to an açaí spot and a pizza place. Ordered the lamb shawarma wrap and an Aplós Ume Spritz--the drink was refreshing, and while the wrap was a good size, it leaned a bit bland. The crispy potatoes on the side were a highlight. Food took about 20 minutes but came out well-prepared overall.

Waverly has a nice vibe and we were seated quickly, which was a good start. Service was mixed: the staff were polite enough, but we had to ask four different people for a highchair before one finally appeared. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, yet it took nearly an hour from ordering to getting our food - a long wait for what arrived. Portions are tiny and the prices are on the high side, so value felt off. My burger was just average - nothing special, though my husband enjoyed his dish more. It's OK if you're not in a rush and don't mind paying premium for modest plates, but it didn't wow us.

Very cute brunch spot. I loved the decor and the ambiance. They even had a live DJ! There were plenty of food options, including classic brunch items, rice bowls, and unique food dishes as well. It was very packed in the restaurant, so unfortunately service was a bit slow and it was hard to flag somebody down for water refills as the glass was very small. I tried the baja rice bowls. I liked how healthy it tasted, but it was lacking in flavor as there was barely any sauce. Wish I got one of the sandwiches or burgers as those looked tasty. Definitely seems like a cute brunch spot to drink at and hang with the girls.

TL;DR: drinks are good but the egg sando is best! I usually come for the drinks and the ambiance. This time was no different - the drinks were all well-balanced and tasty However, this time was a little hungrier than normal so I also ordered the egg sandwich and wow! I'll be getting this every time I come back! Large 1/4-cut jammy eggs on top of crunchy toast. I understand the price is probably not exactly great but for the amount of flavor packed into each bite, totally worth it! Service was great as per usual and of course love the ambiance! Cheers to the egg sando, Waverly!

The slaw is saucy, slightly sweet and the perfect complement to the crispy chicken. I like that it was crispy without having to be heavily breaded. The bun was toasted nicely as well to add to the crispy, freshness of the experience. Overall it was just really well balanced. On the critical side, I agree with previous reviewers that this doesn't need to be/shouldn't be a full service restaurant. The service was slow even when not busy which was fine since we weren't in a hurry but under different circumstances unnecessary. We actually got up and paid at the counter as we were tired of waiting. Also, duck fat fries were fun and I enjoyed having a few but having similar seasoning to the chicken was more than I needed. I would have preferred the plain I think. Next time I want to try the fish sandwich because I could see it being really good based on the chicken sandwich quality. Also, all the drinks coming out were so pretty and would be fun to try especially if slightly sweet to balance the chicken spice. Overall, we consider our visit a success and will be back for sure.

The coleslaw-pickles-spread-bun all have nice flavors individually, but crammed together with the chicken as well, they become cacophony rather than a symphony. We also tried the fried fish sandwich which was not fried albacore as the AAA Westways magazine stated. It was meh. The highlight was the potato chips and onion dip but they were too expensive for what they are. The $4 Diet Coke is a hilariously small bottle of soda. They don't offer ice for their water, servers are friendly but not too attentive. And finally... the bar stool seating at the tables on the covered patio is comically uncomfortable.

I ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos and a house coffee. The coffee was actually pretty good! Cream and sugar were delivered separately to finish with your preference. As for the tacos, it was okay. The fish was a bit dry for my liking, cabbage could have been chopped with more finesse, and I wished they QC'd their limes a bit before putting them on the plate. Both were bone dry and I had to ask for more. Moreover, the cilantro lime rice was also a bit bland. It needed salt to lift the flavors in my opinion. There weren't even flecks of green if it was supposed to be cilantro? I tried boyfriend's veggie hash but was disappointed to find that it was almost all potatoes. Having said that, it was an extremely generous portion so he was filled up. While I didn't try it, our friend that had the chorizo hash also said it was okay so I'm guessing the ratio wasn't quite right. Anyways, ask for their chili sauce on the side, that's actually quite surprising. It had really good heat and was more like a chili crisp than a vinegary hot sauce. The plates that did score favorably at the table were the carne chilaquiles and the divorced eggs.

Same Same, but Different? Not Quite…read more Hiya B.U.M.S., We recently decided to check out Same Same, hoping for an experience that was delightfully different. Our order for the night? The Thai-style New York steak, Khao Soi curry, and larb lettuce cups--all paired with a custom-crafted, half-Cranberry, half-Sprite. Before we even tasted the food, we almost ended up eating next door. The entrances are a bit of a maze, leaving us standing outside having a mini identity crisis about where we actually wanted to dine. Ultimately, we stayed the course and chose Same Same. The Larb Lettuce Cups: As a massive larb fan, I was hyped. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat. My wife officially dubbed it "lackluster." While the ground beef was seasoned and the lettuce was beautifully crisp, when the lettuce is the undisputed star of your larb, it might be time to reevaluate the recipe. The Yellowtail Ceviche: To recover from the larb disappointment, my wife ordered the ceviche. It was a step up, but for a Thai spot, it was missing that signature kick. It really needed a handful of jalapeños to wake it up. In fact, nothing on the table was truly spicy until I deployed their house chili oil. The Khao Soi Curry: This was the absolute hero of the night! It completely saved the meal. It was rich and delicious, and it paired unexpectedly well with our New York steak--even though the kitchen served it well-done instead of our requested medium-rare. As dinner went on, it became pretty clear that this spot might cater a bit more to the happy hour and drinking crowd, especially considering my Cranberry-Sprite mix was arguably the most flavor-packed thing on the table. That said, the service was fantastic. The staff members were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Pro-Tip: If you're ordering more than two items, do not let them seat you at the tiny tables for two. It's a high-stakes game of food Tetris you will not win. On the bright side, they earned major bonus points for boxing up our leftovers for us. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel like every restaurant should still offer that level of hospitality! Overall, I'd say give it a shot if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a cool atmosphere, but I wouldn't rush off your couch to get there.
