    a plate of chicken salad

This is the restaurant inside the Hilton and as far as hotel restaurants, this one is pretty good. The service was friendly and fast. They have a nice full bar, and TVs playing sports which I appreciated. They were also very open to me doing some minor substitutions in my salad without the eye roll that you get sometimes. Thank you.

The Cardinal Lounge was popping for a Wednesday night. Super loud and so many folks having a good time. I went the next day for a Cobb salad and it was so-so. Nothing to write home about. The atmosphere is nice and the employees are great but I think it's a little expensive considering the quality of food.

I ordered the fried pickles, Caesar salad, and Maryland crab Soup the first night. It ended up being a lot more food than I imagined, which isn't a bad thing. The pickles were great and served with a southwest sauce. The crab soup was a GIANT bowl. And the Caesar salad was very fresh. Fast service. The price is a little high, but what isn't in Virginia? The second time I ordered a burger w/ avocado added and truffle fries (you can upgrade for $2). Pretty good. Still $23 for that.

The dishes were fair, nothing to make it worthy to go out of your way! The cooking could do more improvement! Large crowds won't get the best of service as usual (billing errors, miss-orders and delayed dishes while everyone already ate and that 1 guy is still waiting for his dish). The lamb burgher is unique and their feta cheese was great! their oily dishes are good and crisp! But it doesn't lock me in to come back again yet!

Club sandwich with fries and a side of honey mustard. Excellent!

We checked in to this hotel about 945 after a long day and to our surprise the restaurant was open until 11, so we hurried and got an order in before they closed. The server was nice and I ordered the club sandwich with fries. It was excellent! Thanks

Surprisingly good for hotel restaurant food. I had the turkey club which used high quality deli meats, real cheddar cheese (as opposed to lame American cheese) and quality bread. The bacon was crispy (not just some precooked junk) and just the right amount of mayo. The tomatoes were also ripe and flavorful. The presentation was impressive and even the side salad was above average. The ambience was peaceful, service friendly, and I had a nice view of a lily pad covered pond from my table. It wasn't the most amazing club I've ever eaten but above average and efficient.

The cardinal lounge is located inside of the Hilton airport hotel. When you travel and stay in as many hotels as I do food always seems to be hitt or miss. The cardinal lounge was pretty solid I don't have any complaints. During breakfast hours this same location is called something totally different it's called oak breakfast. There was always a manager available to Seat us and one night I brought a party of eight people in and they may be accommodation to give us our own private area. When you first walk in to the left-hand side there will be a full bar. The cardinal has a very broad drink selection. Scotch vodka and rum. On the right-hand side there are couches and tables where you can sit and socialize. In the back of the cardinal lounge there are all tables with candles lit on each table. I believe I can here total of five times. The breakfast was pretty good I don't have any complaints. One morning I had eggs Benedict and it was OK the next morning I had the breakfast buffet and it was pretty good I wish the bacon was more crispy though. The dinners were good also but I would recommend sticking to the appetizers or the small bites. The tomato and basil soup was very good here. The calamari was also. One night I did have the fish tacos and they were pretty good. I would not order the fish tacos again though. The mini cheeseburgers were on point and it seemed that a lot of people were getting them as their meal. One of the individuals that I was with got the salmon three nights in a row. Overall the cardinal lounge is a good solid place especially for in a hotel but just like every other hotel that I go to if you spend a week eating here you know everything on the menu and you get tired of the food. I do recommend sticking with the appetizers or the small bites if you eat here. PROS: - good bar area

I think the chef got a little overzealous when seasoning that batch. Haha. The asparagus came out and it looked really good. The taste was a match! It was our first time and we weren't sure how things worked so let me help you out if you are reading this. A small plate is indeed a small plate of whatever you order. You can share to you cannot. But if you go the small plate route , you'll want to order between 3 and 4 items per person. The large plates are meals. The atmosphere was as expected. This would make a good date night. You could dress up or you could dress down. Either way, you'll be right at home. Our waitress Gabby did a great job and she was super helpful. My wife is allergic to rice so Gabby made sure to check with the chef about cross contamination and what was good for her on the menu and what not. Super appreciative of that. My wife tried two different sans spirits drinks. The espresso tonic. I tried it also. Big no! It has tonic espresso and grapefruit juice. Those did not vibe. We sent it back. She then tried the Purple Rain and loved it. All in all, it's a good spot and I'm glad we tried it. I think next time we will go exclusively with the large plates. The small plate route was kind of expensive for what we got and we didn't get a lot of food. We both actually left hungry. We are not drinkers but we accompanied two of our friends who are and they enjoyed the wine selection.

We loved the whole trout and fresh snap pea salad. Our server checked in on us frequently and gave us excellent drink recommendations. FYI, inside is quite loud and you almost need to yell to have a conversation. There is covered outdoor seating that's quieter.

The lights were dimmed, which gave the restaurant a cozy vibe I almost fell asleep lol. Since the restaurant is still fairly new, it wasn't too crowded, which made the experience even better. One thing I really liked was that the menu is chef-curated, so the dishes are served as-is and thoughtfully put together. You can really tell there's intention behind the flavors and presentation. For drinks, we ordered a smoked Old Fashioned and a chocolate martini for me, which was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we tried the Wagyu sliders, and they were juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. For our entrées, my boyfriend ordered the lamb shank over mashed potatoes. The meat literally fell off the bone, and the mashed potatoes soaked up all the lamb juices, giving them so much flavor. I ordered the salmon with broccolini and added chimichurri and garlic butter sauce on top. I loved that they asked how I wanted my salmon cooked. I ordered mine medium well, and it came out perfect. The skin was crispy, theand the broccolini was soft and cooked just right. Our waiter was fun, attentive, and really helpful when it came to choosing drinks and entrées. We were unfortunately served the branzino topped with only the Chilean garlic sauce and not the lemon caper sauce at all. The server wasn't seeming to know what to do with our dissatisfied reaction, so we decided to salvage the fish and ordered the lemon caper on the side, it tasted bland at best. Fish was fine, but unfortunately there was nothing worth mentioning positively about it for its $37 price point. *Neither sauce was worth ordering and unfortunately neither tasted how they were described, more like plain aioli. In our ignorance, we didn't realize branzino meant the whole fish would be served versus a filet. It would have been nice to have been able to read that fact on the menu prior to ordering. We ordered the truffle fries, which had probably zero amounts of truffle on them. Overcooked. We ordered the tropical mojito mocktail, and it was either poorly made or the recipe could use a complete reset. The crab stuffed mushrooms and sauce, amazing. Server, kind. We were asking quite a few questions of him, trying to decide between the Chilean with lobster or the branzino, which showed our ignorance in the fish choices, I believe. A good server would have picked up on this, and went into a much more detailed explanation of both dishes to educate and inform us on making the right decision. So I think it's pretty accurate to say that a good majority of the problems we had could have been salvaged had he been a little more seasoned at reading the individual needs of his customers. Although, with ordering either of these entrees or the truffle fries, we would have been disappointed as the flavor was just not there. Being out of towners used to seafood from California, we were excited to try a new place on the east coast. I read multiple positive reviews from other customers, and unfortunately we are leaving disappointed in the $80 spent. We joked that perhaps the usual chef called in sick and the bus boy took his place. Underwhelming. Overcooked. Bland. But, they had pretty tables.
