Steve Aoki (famous DJ), DJ Skee and Dan Fleyshman opened a physical card shop called Cards and Coffee in October 2020 and it is located approximately one mile away from Dolby Theatre. [Parking]: Street parking only and I had to circle around the block few times. Luckily I found a metered parking spot a block away from the shop. [Shop]: A fairly small venue. There's a human robot and you can use the touch screen to interact. I pushed several buttons and all the robot did was playing some Chinese music within the database. Personally the most interesting thing here is probably instagramable mural painted on the wall. For displaying cases I will say it is mostly 80% graded sports cards and 20% graded Pokémon cards. There were few boxes with very limited $1 selection of modern sports and miscellaneous Pokémon & Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. I was slightly disappointed to see any super interesting cards and VeeFriends cards (created by Gary Vaynerchuk) were meh. Not exactly a must visit sports card shop and I wouldn't drive out of the way to come here. P.S. - Please do no use the Google address for The Coffee Breakers. If my only interaction with the team had been the submission of cards for PSA evaluation, this would have been a five star experience. The submission and payment went so very smoothly, we even caught an error and they refunded us the difference from a miscount. Store staff kept me updated via text throughout the process. This was great. When I went in to pickup the graded cards, I inquired about selling, thinking that it wouldn't be on the table since the cards take a while to find a buyer and most shops wouldn't be interested in the liability. When the store said that they were interested in buying, I asked questions, because I wasn't prepared and had not looked into what it meant to have a store purchase. They walked me through the process and I had said that I was interested in selling the whole collection. They agreed to buy in bulk with a purchase price adjusted from the current market price. Fair enough, they are taking a risk - that's worth a percentage cut. The team began to lookup pricing on every single card in the collection. It was quite a time-consuming process, but since they were interested, I was game. We were hoping to make back the cost of having the cards graded after the percentage was accommodated. In the end, the total ended up being exactly that with a small profit. Perfect, I thought. It was time to wrap up the transaction, and I was informed that not all the cards would be purchased. This was a complete surprise, since so much time had been spent evaluating the cost of the entire collection, and no indication was made that some would be purchased while others would not. I mentioned my confusion and was told, without contrition, that purchase was never on the table for the full collection. I certainly might have misunderstood, but I had asked a significant number of questions before we got started. I offered my apology for misunderstanding and again was met only with a team member (manager?) who was unapologetic. The sudden change in plan was very unnerving. I shared that feeling and stated that I no longer felt comfortable with completing the transaction with the store. I returned home with the full graded collection. I was truly flustered and so ashamed we had wasted the team's time totaling all the cards' values. It's such a shame, but honestly it was the wall of attitude from the team member (manager?) which earned this lower review. It was a real example of poor customer service. And again, what a departure from the strong experience in drop off and pickup of the graded cards. It was worth the cost difference of a store-based pickup versus us mailing them in ourselves. I wish we had never started down the road of discussing the sale of the cards. read more

No class. Got caught ripping me off charging 7x what the price the pack was actually worth. I expected double because of their location, but 7x the price!! I went back in assuming he made a mistake. Then the employee doubled down on his greed. My bad for trusting them, but damn. You get caught making a mistake, you own it. Standing by taking advantage of an old guy just wanting to buy a pack of cards is just wrong on so many levels. Unless there's a gun to your head, give your money to someone who isn't trying to rip off someone who doesn't know as much as he does. Just sad. read more

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BUSINESS! My friend and I pre ordered the new Japanese set with them, only for it to be delayed which wasn't the issue. When we inquired about the cancellation they just stated it was delayed until further notice so we didn't think any more of it. We went to the shop the next day to see not only did they have the product in stocked but marked it up $75 more than the pre order price. Talk about scummy behavior. When I inquired about it, they stated they go by market value and didn't event acknowledge about pre orders. Terrible business, will no long due business with them. Let me just start off with the fact that they have very little knowledge about the hobby are are 100% in it for the cash. I mean don't get me wrong I get that they need to make a profit but the prices are so off that it's disgusting. All of the slabs that I checked are about 20% more expensive than any comp. Yes the staff is friendly but that doesn't account for boxes packs and slabs being so over priced. If you want to overpay for any card then this is the place for you but in my opinion stay far away. read more

Called these guys to find out if they had the new UFC Prizm release. The guy who answered said they did but that it was moving quickly. He told me that he could hold two boxes for me. We get off the phone and I start getting ready to head there. Within a few minutes he calls me back and says he actually just checked in the back and they're all out. He then says he has another case on the way but he's not sure what time it will be there but that he has my number and he'll let me know. He never called me back, not even the next day. Just a bizarre experience and seemed super unprofessional. I ended up ordering the box from a card shop in Ohio for a cheaper price. read more

My son wanted to come to LA for his 13th bday and one of the "must do" things was to go to sport cards stores. In preparation for my son to have a little more independence, I asked him to research & list some sports card stores he'd like to visit. He found Cards & Coffee on his own and we visited them about 30 minutes before closing. Mike and Danny couldn't have been any nicer to my son and his friends! They were patience, respectful and actually taught them some things about sports cards. I'm so glad we found this jewel!!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would horrible customer service DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use their PSA submission service it's a total And scam to keep your money I have placed about 20 cards for submission on a "20 Day service" Yet that was 10 months ago and haven't received anything all I get is sorry PSA is busy with no actual solutions for the problem they just push it off and make it seem like there is nothing they can do for not keeping their part of a promise of service. My friend's has been waiting for a PSA card for 3 months but their promotion says 20 business days and has not even tried to resolve the solution. I would recommend sending my PSA stuff to another store because they are bad at communicating and not even trying to work with you. New, Cool, Hip! The staff are energetic and they wear masks so I felt safe browsing the store. They have a good collection and I was able to find hobby boxes that aren't available anywhere else. You can even break your packs at the store which is super cool! Will definitely be back! read more

I submitted some cards to PSA through Cards and Coffee. It has been approximately 7 months since the time I submitted my cards. I haven't received any updates from the Cards and Coffee, even though I have called their phone number. I was told that they would call me back because they were busy, but they never called back. So I tried direct messaging them through instagram and they just seened my message. It seems like a pretty dodgy business. Would not recommend coming to this shop. read more

I'm giving this place a 1 star because i walked in and the prices for the pokemon product were extremely high. 80 dollars for a hidden fates raichu tin. retail is 20$ but now its at 40 because its hidden fates. so this place has extreme scalper prices. seems like they just got into the pokemon game to hustle people and don't care about the game itself. other pokemon product were extemely high also. dont recommend this place. many other local card shops in the area that understand the community read more

Cards and Coffee/Thepokebreakers is one of if not the only places I buy my cards from. I live out of state so I buy on their website a lot. They pack my cards up very well and take good care of them. Ripped or shipped sealed they treat them as if it was their own cards. The breakers are amazing and very attentive to anything and everything. Customer service is amazing I've only had one issue with them but that was resolved fairly quickly. People complain about the prices but do have to realize they are a business and they do have to make a profit somehow. If you can find them cheaper somewhere else then that's cool and great but you won't be getting the same experience as you would with these guys. 10/10 recommend and I do to everyone looking into getting cards. read more
