I wish Julianne was a general dentist because I would go to her for all of my dental needs. She's fantastic, the staff were all friendly and she's amazing. I'm normally a person who avoids dentists like the plague. I do my best to practice good oral hygiene, and consequently don't need dentists much. Perhaps I was one of the lucky ones? But I had a great experience with Dr. Carrara. After finding her online, I called to make an appointment, they had an availability the next day. I went in and was greeted by the receptionist and handed all of the necessary paperwork to fill out while I waited. It took maybe five minutes to fill out and they were ready to take me back by the time I was done. The assistant took an initial XRay (Mine are still with my dentist in FL) and took five to ten minutes to develop it and have Dr. Carrara get back to me. She informed me of what needed to be done to fix my problem (Re-doing a previous root canal from my dentist in FL a couple of years ago) and that it was no big deal, it is a problem that can unfortunately happen quite frequently. Terrified of the pain that I would have to go through, AGAIN, I left her office after having made my follow up appointment for the same day the following week as well as setting up a payment plan which they were more than understanding with my current Non-Insurance situation. They actually knocked off the price of the initial visit as well as gave me a discounted rate on the procedure. I went back the next week. Again, terrified. I was greeted by the same pleasant woman as the first visit. I waited ten minutes or so and then was taken back. She sat me down and re-explained what she had to do and then started the numbing process. After that was done she started the procedure and I didnt feel a thing. It was awesome, especially after the experience that I had the first time!!! Her assistant came to fill the tooth which took all of five minues. She gave me my after care instructions and sent me on my way. For the entire procedure I was in an out the door in under and hour. Woohoo!!! read more

Absolutely wonderful experience! Dr. Patel saw me with very short notice and in extreme pain. He was patient, Kind, professional and all around, awesome. He even called me the next day to see how I was doing after he completed the root canal. I cannot say enough about what a great team they have at this office! Dora, the administrative guru was awesome - she was so helpful getting all of the necessary paperwork from the referring dentist and she made me feel very comfortable at the office. Dr. Carrara is an enthusiastic person and an excellent professional. She is fast, painless and thorough, although she definitely takes time to know you. She coordinated with me on following steps on my dental care after presenting me with all of the necessary medical information in a fast and interactive manner. Her office counts with the latest in technology I've seen in an endodontist's office, and she provided me with a very detailed summary of what was done and what was left to do after every appointment via email. I have been having dental pain for over 2 months going back and forth to my dentist to no avail. Today I went to the CARE office and they lived up to their name!!Dr Reis,Dora, and Katrina were amazing. She might be good most of the time, but this is not the dentist you want to deal with when she screws up. She and her staff will not own up to their mistakes. I completely agree with other comments that she's mean and full of herself. While she was doing a procedure on my wife, a piece of a rotary file broke inside and apparently it's standard procedure to leave it there. I guess her working on three patients at a time because, in her words "she was a little backed up," had nothing to do with it. Anyway, this didn't sound right to us, however her staff kept assuring us that it happens all the time and there was nothing to worry about. We came to find out, via the letter she sent to our referring dentist, that there actually is risk of infection, that the broken file needs to be periodically x-rayed, and that if things go bad, my wife will need surgery. I became upset when I found this out and called her. Her and her staff tried to weasel their way out saying that they explained all the risks to my wife and me - when they absolutely didn't. I kept maintaining my position and she finally got really upset and hung up. Her explanation was that "we'll just have to agree to disagree!" What a load of crap. What is this Sesame Street? She sent my dentist and me a letter saying that I was trying to "bully her and her staff." How the heck would I do that over the phone?! All we wanted was for her to admit that they didn't really explain all the risks to us, explain what those were and to find a good way to deal with the situation should it become problematic. read more

I slipped and broke my front two teeth, and needed pretty extensive restorative work. Dr. Julie did the root canals, and I had a very positive experience (which is hard to imagine when having multiple root canals!). She was very gentle and mindful of the bruising and inflammation I still had, and talked me through the whole procedure. She was also very personable, which helped distract from the actual procedures, which were much less painful than the horror stories I've heard. I was referred to Dr. Patel, an endodontist at this practice. I have had a number of root canals over the years, but none quite as professionally and capably done as Dr. Patel's work. Lower jaw premolars are tough, but Dr. Patel's thoroughness and precision resulted in minimal discomfort and quick healing. He works with a microscope and hands so sure and gentle that were it not for having to keep your mouth open you wouldn't even know he was treating your tooth. My husband, who is coincidentally a dentist, didn't heistate to refer me to Dr. Julianne Carrarra, for an emergency root canal. My husband knows my level of anxiety with dental surgical procedures, and understands my low threshold for pain. He has referred many of his patients to Dr Carrarra and all have been highly satisfied. He assured me that Dr. Julianne Cararra would be the most qualified for my case. I was able to get an appointment relatively quickly. When I arrived, Dr. Julianne's two assistants were genuinely warm and friendly, and put me at ease. Dr Julianne was friendly, outgoing, and a pleasure to meet. After the obligatory numbing shots of Carbocaine, the procedure itself was, as far as root canals go, a good experience. As she worked, she explained every step of the procedure, and how it was progressing. I was even able to rest my jaw at times. Considering that my case was accelerated, and rather complicated, Dr. Julianne had no issues with expediently completing the procedure with a minimal amount of pain, if any at all. Just saw Dr Josh Ries for a root canal, and it was the most pleasant experience I've ever had while having a dreaded root canal. Other than the normal initial numbing shots hurting, the whole rest of the time didn't hurt at all. He explained everything to me, let me listen to my music on my headphones to help relax. Phenomenal care! I saw my dentist who said I needed a root canal. He wrote me referral and highly recommended this place. I called them and they were able to make an appointment same day. The people who work in the office are extremely personable and caring. They worked with me to get this done ASAP. I had my work done by Dr. Joshua Ries, who was incredible, and I mean, bar none the BEST . And this is coming from someone who absolutely HATES having any dental work done. Dr. Ries was very compassionate, always checking in on me when doing his work, making sure I didn't feel anything. It was completely painless, very fast and I just can not recommend this place highly enough. Coming from someone who has had more root canals (probably because I hate going to the dentist) than I would like to admit, this place is hands down the best I've ever experienced (as well as my dentist Dr. Chris Katris). She was extremely kind to him, since he is terrified of any type of dental work, kept him calm and relaxed, and got him out of there without any pain. I have been a resident in Chicago for less than a year. I needed to find new doctors, dentists, etc. When a root canal struck me, I had to find an endodontist quickly. My dentist recommended Dr. Julianne Carrara. I did my research and decided to give her a call. I was at the office within a day and was treated kindly by everyone. Dr. Carrara is great! She is kind, caring, knowledgable, funny, and interesting. Her work left me pain-free! I didn't even need the painkiller she prescribed. Her office called the next morning to ask how I was and invited me to come in or call at any time during the treatment. Dr Carrara and her staff at Care Endodontics are outstanding! My dentist spoke very highly of Dr. Carrara, and recommended her for a consultation on a potential root canal retreatment. I was in some pain, and called in the morning and she worked me into her schedule just a few hours later. She was very thorough, very kind and friendly, and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable each step of the way. She devoted so much time to explaining things, and making sure I understood the entire process. That is very rare these days in health care. What is more, she really listened to my concerns, and made a recommendation that was best for me and my situation. Fantastic experience! In addition, Dr. Carrara and her staff have cultivated a very positive and friendly atmosphere, and they truly work as a team. Dora was so nice and kind and absolutely made me feel at home from the moment I walked in the door. Katia was very friendly and made me feel at ease with every step of the procedure and was very gentle which i appreciated. Sandra was great too - and did a great job with the imaging. I had some questions about the costs of the procedure since much of it was out of pocket, and Dora did a great job of giving me her best estimate of how much would be covered and how much I'd be responsible for, prior to receiving treatment. I really appreciated that and enabled me to make a more informed decision about my choices. I've had many bad experiences with insurance companies and health care providers with surprise bills or expenses after an appointment - you can be assured that that will not happen here. Dora and staff were proactive each step of the way. Care Endodontics offers highest quality care, with even higher quality people who put the patient first. They wanted to charge $175 for an unnecessary imaging scan that they claimed is not covered by insurance, on top of the charge for the root canal. Passive-aggressive front person was rude and impolite telling us to "take it up with your insurance". I knew it was a scam, so we said we are not getting the procedure done and we walked out. Called another office and got a next day appointment and got the root canal done. No unnecessary imaging scan and upcharge of $175+$35PPE charge which this office tried to charge me. At the other office, I just paid the insurance copay at a Brand New amazing office with pleasant staff. After the procedure was done, told the other Endodontist about the scan charge at this office, and was told it is a way for them to create more revenue and cheat the patient. Do your homework before going here, they will try to nickel and dime you with unappreciated attitude and unpleasant demeanor, specially the front person. STAY AWAY! read more

Thorough, professional, compassionate, capable and personable! I cannot recommend Dr Carrara highly enough. I was referred to her office with a tricky lower molar that had been bothering me for months before being crowned and going crazy... Waking me up at night, flaring up after eating, referred TMD, spontaneous and temperature pain, the works. Furthermore, I am what you could call a challenging patient -- I read a lot, bring notes with my own observations, and expect providers to integrate my experiences. Of course, Doctor C is the expert, but she understood what I was up to, and was able to use this information to "crack" the case (handily as I, apparently, had cracked the tooth). I am grateful that she took the time to listen, acknowledge my concerns, and move forward with a treatment plan that worked. Throughout the entire process she showed considerable skill and impressive professional knowledge of dentists around the city. Treatment took two sessions, and Dr Carrara and her staff were fantastic. Immediately after the first treatment I felt considerable relief from pain and other symptoms, and after completing the procedure I finally feel like the tooth is actually useful for the first time in months. The equipment in the office is state of the art, with procedures performed under microscope and 3D digital x-ray imaging for pinpointing problems. Since I have some risk in my prognosis and an odd dental anatomy, she advised me what to watch out for in the future, gave a realistic assessment of future treatment options, and empowered me with copies of my x-rays, a pre-and-post-op clinical assessment. What more can a medical geek ask for! As another patient said here, getting a root canal is not a fun time but I can (literally) rest at ease knowing that I got the best care possible. read more

My crown came off and found out that my root was exposed. I couldn't eat or drink. My dentist immediately recommended Dr. Carrara. I am not an easy case since I have a genetic disposition not to respond well to Novocaine. She worked tirelessly (although it was the end of day) to get my stubborn tooth numb with the help of her hi-tech 3D scan. Once numb, she worked quickly and was kind throughout. I was referred To Dr. Carrara DMD for very detailed root issues by my regular Dentist Dr. Torres . I can see why she recommends her. My situation was not the easiest but what I love about Dr. Carrara is she made me feel very comfortable. Who likes surgery right?! I actually dosed off while she worked patiently on my very difficult tooth. Can you imagine? I dosed off during a root canal! I highly recommend her and her staff, who are equally wonderful. Not only did she make me feel comfortable but she remembered things we spoke about on my last visit, asked about my Mom, who was recently widowed. Dr. Carrara was recommended by my dentist for what seemed to be (and may prove to be) an attempt to save two teeth and a bridge. So far, it seems Dr. Carrara may have helped me avoid the immediate loss of the teeth and bridge with a totally pain free root canal. She explained the options available to me with patience, humor and compassion. She also explained what she was doing as the procedure progressed. Dr. Carrara's immediate followup from the time she received my dental records from my dentist to the completion of the root canal was more then impressive. She sent my dentist a full report with xrays the same morning she finished the root canal and copied me in the email which also included an ID photo of me taken by her office manager during my first visit. I had an intro visit for an exam by Dr. Carrara followed by the appointment to do the root canal plus a follow up a week later to check the work she had done and put a permanent filling in the tooth. After each visit I received a follow up phone call and an email. Her staff was also caring, polite, prompt and helpful. If you need endodontal attention I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Julianne Carrara. She has a terrific personality and a great way of putting people at ease. read more

Who would think one could give a doctor giving root canals a 5 star review? Certainly not me. Like most normal people, I went into the office with a sense of dread and a touch of fear. The first folks I spoke to , the office staff, were kind and patient. Dr. Carrara's assistant, Modela, was simply funny and kind. And Dr. Carrara is a trip. Funny, respectful of your intelligence, and obviously caring about her patients and professional about her job. I walked out 99% pain free and the following morning, when her staff called to see how I was doing, (which btw, was great!) , the kindness was still there. I would not recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. The administrative staff is rude, short and inconsiderate. Office hours are impossible and very in conducive for the working professional. It is bad enough having a toothache, however, going in to their office I walked out with a headache and a toothache. Also payment method is impossible. I was consistent in making small payments ,seeing as root canals do not come cheap, but they sent me to a collection agency anyway. Dr. Carrara herself is egotistical and extremely unfriendly.
