Caregiver who showed up was woefully inadequate and skills did not match what was on the resume presented. Agency took several days to find a replacement with little to no communication in-between. In the intervening time period, we decided not to do business with Care For Seniors. Additionally, Tiffaney did not disclose upfront a higher rate for short shifts. I'm employed with a non-profit senior living organization and we pride ourselves for only aligning with other non-profit and local businesses. Why shop at Starbucks when you can buy your coffee from your neighborhood mom and pop coffee shop? I've been working with them as a partner in the senior health care and living industry for many years and have nothing but good things to say about them. They are responsive, attentive to client needs and most importantly, caring! They aren't just experts in the home care business but leaders in terms of building community in the senior health care and living realm. Tiffaney, their Care Coordinator, is an active member of the Department of Disability and Aging Services' (DAS) LGBTQ+ Community Partnership which is a networking group of which I'm the Chair and Leader. This won't be a surprise to the agency as I've discussed it with them, we did not reach a reasonable resolution. Suffice to say, I'm still updating the police report I've already filed, as I discover new gaps where our belongings used to be. Apparently, theft is considered normal behavior by at least some in the field of providing home care in the bay area. Having worked in home care myself in upstate New York, I never saw anything like that. Also, and really worse, the chaos, incompetence, lack of understanding or training, and some downright mental pathology, was frightening. My husband has moved into an outside facility, and his and my moods have improved dramatically. The staff there is calm, the atmosphere easy and peaceful. Nothing like the frenetic crazy town we had with this agency. I hesitate because there are excellent caregivers, we even met a couple here and there, but I've never fired so many people in my life. There's zero question that my husband's life was seriously endangered (no question, not even slight) by these people, and that he's suffered physical harm as a result of their actions. My understanding is that there is a broader culture that normalizes this approach to home care, so maybe this specific agency is just going with the flow. That's what they strongly suggested when cash, drugs, home furnishings, anything valuable, walked out the door along with groceries, medical supplies, you name it. On top of the thefts (some by family members they brought in), the environment turned into a pressure cooker plagued by tension and efforts to push my ill husband in ways that were medically ill advised but touted as success. The trouble was constant. The schedules were a morass of confusion, always. I'll never know how much was stolen, because the chaos made it impossible to keep track of anything. My head was spinning most of the time. To think we paid a lot -- an insane amount -- for this misery. Our counselor and my friends have said it'll take me time to get over this, it still has me steaming and leaves a terrible taste in my mouth. As generally happens with grifters, I feel guilty and responsible, as if in a time of distress my failing to secure our valuables makes it my fault that we were robbed, up to $20,000 worth and counting. I've tried to hold off on writing this, because my feelings boil over probably more than they should. The problem seems to be more systemic than just this particular agency's staff, but how that is handled can't possibly always be this awful. My apologies to the truly wonderful caregivers I met. A good lot of the rest of them belong in jail. read more

I don't even know where to start! I was supposed to be having major hip surgery today and had initiated post-op home care arrangements with Katherine a few weeks ago. She came to my home to meet me and discuss my needs, schedule, etc. l have had two joint replacement surgeries already and have used home health care both times. Suffice it to say, l was a bit surprised that Katherine didn't do a safety inspection of my home for trip hazards.This was a mandatory prerequisite for my last two surgeries. At the time of our initial meeting, Katherine said she had a caregiver in mind. A week went by and l had not heard back from her. I was already feeling uneasy as schedules and caregivers had already been assigned two weeks prior to my previous surgeries. I called Katherine this past Monday to follow up and hopefully have everything in place. My surgery was supposed to be today and l still had no schedule/caregiver to begin this Sunday. There is no way l was going to go through with major surgery without having my caregiving arrangements in place. Due to this, l had to reschedule my surgery for next month hoping I don't completely break my hip in the interim. Katherine finally emails me this evening saying that she has my caregivers lined up! Huh? Are you serious? What kind of professional caregiving agency contacts their client hours after planned surgery was to take place to confirm arrangements? l have spent the last 24 hours rearranging everything from my physical therapy appointments, to new pre-op appointments, etc.because of this woman complete ineptitude! l am frankly, exhausted and worn out thanks to her. I have since found a very professional, and highly reputable, caregiving provider. Their representative spent a few hours with me today reviewing everything from trip hazards in my home to allergies, etc. My caregiving arrangements for the rescheduled surgery are all in order as they should have been with Katherine's so-called company. Our friend died almost a year ago to the day I am writing this and they are still giving me a hard time about my review. Well...the owner insists I was at fault, it seems. Guess I hit a sore spot I suppose. I've been asked multiple times to redo my Yelp review. Is that good business? My frustration still lies with the owner: Yana's lazy, incompetent bookkeeping. Not so much the hospice workers and definitely not with Katherine in charge of Client Services. Our friend was very old and very sick and she was dying. They did their job as best they could under the circumstances (which as hard at times). Katherine brought clarity and guidance to our friend. And our friend appreciated it wholeheartedly. But when she passed away last December, Yana screwed up the billing because she went away on the holidays and dealt with the checks only when she returned. That's not how a good business is run. That's my frustration. So basically: good service. They helped my friend through a very, very tough time. And she passed with ease and comfort only because of Care With Seniors aid. But I still would not recommend this company. Why? Because it's all about the bottom line with them. Now, leave us alone and let our friend's soul rest in peace. read more

My experience with Care for Seniors was excellent from start to finish. Originally meeting with Yana to set up what was supposed to be 2.5 weeks of home care-giving...it turned into 4.5 months due to unexpected health issues. From the very first phone call, Yana went above and beyond to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible (and there were some unexpected difficult moments on the home front). She is very dedicated and was always available, made home visits and even a crucial one at the hospital. Her associate, Jennifer, also worked very closely to ensure the best of care. Caregivers Avelina, Janina, Fedelyn and Geraldine were incredibly nice, friendly, helpful and hard-working. Everyone worked together smoothly as team for the highest outcome. Care for Seniors provided caring staff for my father multiple times in the last four years, including regular staff for evening and overnight for the last 6 months of his life. Staff were kind and caring, and for the few times there were issues with schedule confusion, the office was always reachable and provided a solution. the caregivers were able to forge a relationship with an aging and sometimes wonderful, sometimes grumpy man who needed assistance toileting and dressing, and they honored his dignity and he was accepting of their assistance. There were several times when we needed help at the last minute, and CFS was always able to get it done. We are grateful for their help and highly recommend. read more

My mother has needed extra support on and off for the last few years. I have Yana in my contacts and will send a text to her when we need help. This is often a last minute request and Yana both responds quickly and then rallies to help us. She has been unbelievable in making sure that my mom has the care she needs when she needs it. She is also patient and flexible when we need to change the schedule to increase or decrease the hours needed. Her customer service is amazing. Yana has also gone out to meet my mom and be a support to me in evaluating her needs and making suggestions about how to fine tune the care so that we have care when we need it and not when we don't. She is a true partner. I have less information about the specific caregivers except to say that my mom likes them and finds them helpful. She would let me know if this were not the case. My mother lives in an independent living facility, but after a recent hospital stay, her care needs increased dramatically. While searching for a skilled nursing home, I've been using Care for Seniors to provide mom assistance with everything from getting out of bed, to dressing, to helping her to physical therapy appointments. Over the past couple of months, we've interacted with many different individual caregivers from Care for Seniors. They've all been friendly, caring, and take great notes for one another. I speak with the founder, Alla, quite often because of my mom's increasing needs and her changing schedule. Alla is compassionate, professional, friendly, and a joy to work with. She's also been amazingly flexible when I've had to cancel a caregiver's shift at the last minute (due to an trip to the ER) or add a shift unexpectedly. This is a review regarding the caregivers they higher based on one expereience. I called them last minute to find someone to take care of my Mom. The caregiver was suppose to arrive within an hour and showed up 2 hours late. When the caregiver arrived she did not know how to take care of a fully dependent person. She also did not speak clear English. I had explained to the caregiving agency the level of care my Mom required. The case manager came over, had the first caregiver leave and asked someone to come to replace her. In the three hours the first caregiver/case manager were here they never turned her, changed her, bathed her, etc. The case manager did feed my Mom lunch. Hopefully, they can find better caregivers in the future otherwise they are building a poor reputation. The staff did work with me to find someone last minute and were friendly but if you can't provide the proper caregivers last minute don't send inexperienced ones. read more

Let's face it, it totally sucks if you have to call these folks for hospice service. I had to make the call and they made it as easy as possible. They really took care of my person in hospice, always looked after her 24 hours a day and even took notes for memories. It's going to be a very difficult time, but I had a positive experience here. One of the assistants was a bit slow and I hinted about it to the company and they instantly replaced that person with someone else that was highly competent. If in a similar situation again (hopefully never again) I wouldn't hesitate to call these folks. At $25 an hour/24 hours a day, it can add up, but looking back, I am grateful I had the assistance for me and my loved one in hospice. read more

They tailor care givers to the person in need and it it does not work out they keep trying. Our family lives out of town and having this service helped us provide loving care for my brother and kept him safe.
