I needed to move from a 2-bedroom condo to a 2-bedroom single family home. I was only really concerned with the large furniture pieces, because i can move the smaller items over time. Roy and Raymond arrived on schedule and walked with me through my "from" location, as i identified the items they should load on the truck. They wrapped everything in padding and tape! Roy helped me disconnect my tv cables because I they were screwed on too tight for me to do alone. At the "to" location, they brought everything in at a good pace and set up everything to my satisfaction. None of my stuff was harmed during the move. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We are very disappointed with our experience working with this company and the dishonest and unprofessional sales rep that facilitated our service. Their sales rep, Sam, grossly underestimated the amount of time and number of people it would take to complete the job. And, more egregiously, after weeks of not returning my call and instead of owning his mistake, he 1) refused to refund us for the additional time it took, and 2) accused my partner of lying about the number of rooms that had to be moved despite knowing we were moving 30 minutes away (in other words, the entire house needed to go) and having gone out and surveyed the property himself. Our experience was top notch from the first call to schedule an estimate to the final piece being put in place. We used Careful Moving at the recommendation of the company, FlooringFX, we were using to replace the carpet in our 3 bedrooms. Clearly they recommend them all the time which in itself is a great endorsement. Wyatt was manning the phone/email and was very responsive, informative, easy to work with and friendly. Sam came out to bid the job and he was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly (and his estimate was just about spot on). We had one crew, David and Felix, on the first move day (putting contents of 3 bedrooms into our garage which included breaking down bed frames and a desk) and they were great. We then had Cody and Tyler on the second day to move/reassemble everything. All four were skilled, careful (they live up to their name!) and just really nice guys. Our desk is a weird, non-standard one and I didn't have the assembly instructions, but they figured it out just using their logic/knowledge. And we had a really tall piece that was hard to navigate but they strategized and did it without chipping any walls/paint. Very grateful to all for their awesome work. Side note...Wyatt was super flexible with scheduling. We had to postpone last minute twice due unforeseeable circumstances and he was nothing but gracious and accommodating. Moving is stressful. Especially when you and your husband decide that moving to Roseville on the spur of the moment for his job promotion and you have to be there in 2 weeks! We got 3 estimates. Careful Moving was the lowest and also provided letters of recommendation for previous jobs and clients. We had to hire them to pack as well because of the time crunch. The moving crew was cheerful and they were also hard workers. They alotted only 1 day for packing our entire household contents. That one day turned into a day and a half because they did not have enough crew doing only packing. Careful Movings's packing job is really bad. We would find things like the lid to the popcorn popper in one box, and the base to the popper in another. The popcorn popper is just a small example. This went on and on like this for 4 days of unpacking. There was really no reason why they couldn't have been more efficient and kept things in one box instead of us having to unpack another 5 or 6 boxes until we found the "mate". The final straw today was finding the ladle to my favorite soup tureen in the box with the contents of a "junk drawer", and it wasn't even wrapped in packing paper! It now has a nice chip in it. Oh, and God only knows where the actual soup tureen is! That will take me another 5 or 6 boxes of unpacking to find it! Don't hire them to pack. They are good at the moving part of the job, terrible at the packing part. Regarding payment - one man in the office told me that they would accept cash, checks, Visa or Mastercard. He neglected to tell me about the 2% surcharge to accept the credit card. read more

We hired Careful Moving and Storage to load our moving truck on 4/24/2021. They had previously moved some items from our home and put them in storage and brought those items back and loaded them onto the moving truck on 4/23/2021. Up until this point we had a great experience with them. However for some reason the movers installed the bulkhead divide in the center of the truck, and continued to load the rest of our items on 4/24, thus leaving significant dead space on the moving truck. We weren't aware of this until after the movers left on 4/24, saying they could not not fit all of our items on the truck. I thought I hadn't bought a big enough truck and was devastated we were going to have to leave behind our belongings. My son climbed up in the truck and documented the large amount of dead space in the center of the truck that was the reason that our items didn't fit. After many frantic calls to Careful Moving they unpacked and repacked the truck on 4/26, however they did not pack the truck well, causing the documented damage to the items. We provided many tie downs and blankets that were not used to protect and secure our furniture. See attached photos of bulkhead issue and damaged items. I asked "careful" moving to compensate us for the damage, which totaled about $1k. They refused, blaming everything under the sun for their poor packing and management, never acknowledging their awful behavior and damage to my homes items. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and they tried to seek resolve, however Careful moving again refused. If you hire these guys, you do so at your own risk and expense. We paid them close to $4k for professional movers and we weren't being unreasonable asking for them to repair the items they damaged. They're not responsible or careful in the slightest, a couple of high school kids would have been more professional. I can't help but wonder if these positive reviews aren't real. read more

We chose Careful Movers again for our next move because they were so good last year when given notice to move. Then a year later, we're given notice again on a long term rental promise, we were shocked to be moving again and wanted the best people. We knew we could count on Careful Movers! Sam and Cody were the best team! They communicated so well with us and with each other, it was seamless team work. I made a few suggestions on sensitive items and preferences for load and unload based on the layout of the house. They trusted us to know what would work. I learned from Cody about using lower settings with dryers which I am now using very effectively! And Sam serenaded us with his haunting soulful singing as the day pressed on. Again, this crew made it effortless and elegant to move a whole household of furniture! Both were gentle and strong a really great combo for movers. It was a first with moving a washer and dryer. This helped us discover that the owners needed to clear the dryer ducts, a fire hazard. The owners came out the next day, and we are now fully safe from this discovery from our movers! Start to finish: Josh in the office setting up and doing the estimate, waiting out our uncertainty of where we would find a place in time, and then sending us a great crew, receiving a perfect move with nothing broken or dings on walls, to fun people to work with and a touch under the estimate was a perfect moving day! Moving just has its stressors and to have this part be in good hands is vital. I give this company ten stars! You can bet on who we will call when we move to our dream home destination! read more

We had to move with very short notice. Careful Moving responded the same day and sent out someone to meet with me the next day. On moving weekend, they packed all of our stuff and then the next morning moved everything. I was amazed with their speed, yet they maneuvered huge furniture items with care. Steve was impressive upon the first "estimate" visit to our home and during the discussion of our somewhat complicated moves (including long term storage) and the costs associated with it. Unfortunately, Steve's communication thereafter was minimal if not almost entirely non-responsive. We did not know if our second move was confirmed or happening until the day before and after many phone calls and e-mails. When I did finally speak with him on the phone he seemed confused and uncertain. Although I thought Careful Movers had a lot of room to improve, I have to say that Wyatt in particular was a stand out crew member and I think the only reason our move was successful. He was attentive to our requests, kind and went above and beyond. He was clearly the leader of the additional crew (who were young and not very experienced and did damage some items--they were polite though). Wyatt was a lovely and outstanding person and I am so grateful we landed him on our crew for a move which might otherwise have been a disaster. My husband and I needed movers primarily to move our large furniture from our rental to our new home about 2 miles away. After calling 3 other moving companies, I felt Careful Moving was the most honest with timing and had the best pricing. I was able to easily set up a day and time as well (and keep in mind they are busy! So call ahead). On the day of the move, two young gentleman, Roy and Nick, showed up on time (even called when they were on the way), and first thing they asked was for an overview of what needed to be moved. They then carefully and efficiently proceeded to move all our things into their truck. We wanted our mattresses and box springs covered too and they did that without hesitation. After loading all our items they took a quick lunch and met us at our new home. Roy and Nick were courteous the whole time and I have no complaints whatsoever. We moved to Petaluma Ca from Roseville on May 23, 2017. This is the second time we used Careful Moving and Storage. We were so happy to have Wyatt for both moves and his helper Jeff was great also. We are having our flooring replaced and needed movers to store furnishings temporarily in our garage. Today, Careful Movers sent Sam and Cody to do the move. They carefully moved items after securely taping furnishings that needed taping. They handled our delicate piano with kid gloves. I hired Careful Moving for my business move, and I'm surprised I still have a job. First, they showed up on the wrong day, then 3 hours late on the right day. A half hour into the move, 2 out of the 3 movers left for an hour-and-a-half lunch break. 6 hours later, they asked if they could finish the job tomorrow. I said no. 8 hours after beginning, 2 of the guys sat in the truck with the heater running and let 1 guy do all the work. 11 hours after starting, they finished. They didn't unload a thing...just brought loads up on a flat bed dolly for us to unload. The two guys sat in the truck for so long with the heater running that their battery was dead when it was time to leave. On a lighter note, the one employee who did all the work, Cody, was great. read more

I have read all of the comments and can sympathize with those unhappy souls. We did have a good experience with Careful Moving. Moving is tough. They are never perfect, lots of stress, lots of unexpected glitches and it's just a lot of work and money. We have moved 4 times in the last 20 years or so. Usually by nationally known companys. They weren't all that great. Careful Moving is a relatively small company and they were super. The best move of any. We have paid a lot more for a lot less. Careful was on time and on the ball. Attitude made all of the difference. The crew was polite and considerate which goes a long ways. Wyatt and his som Michael did the unloading and were great.
