So far, I've had the privilege and honor of working with 2 caregivers employed at MP Home Care who were assigned to 2 separate clients. I was their clients' visiting nurse and 1 of the 2 clients had Caregiver C.F. (for privacy purposes initials used) and the other client had Meagan Parker, founder and owner of MP Home Care, as their caregiver. I've had first hand experience in observing both caregivers assist in our clients' daily needs such as bathing, transferring, and completing hygiene tasks, meal prep and offering companionship. That's a lot! You may want to check in with MP Home Care as they may offer more services. For people who are totally or mostly homebound, it is important to have someone care for them who treats them as a person wholly, one who can offer friendship and comfort in times of difficulty. Some have weaknesses and or illnesses that prevent them from being able to carry out simple tasks like brushing their teeth. You need someone who understands their needs at the same time who will help accomplish these activities of daily living for them but within their scope of practice as caregivers. Both C.F. and Meagan are excellent communicators, reporting any changes seen in their clients to their loved ones or responsible party as well as to any medical professional(s) who may be assigned to their clients. They advocate and are a voice for their clients. The MP Home Care staffs' approach to people in general is shown with dignity, positivity, kindness ,and with an encouraging attitude. I've heard feedback on numerous occasions from clients and family members of their satisfaction and contentment with MP Home Care's services. I have a full time job and 3 sons, so I was not able to be there to help her out during the day with getting to appointments, making sure she is eating well, keeping the house picked up, and providing some companionship during the day, which were her initial needs. My brother and sister live out of state, but we talked and agreed that we would share in the cost of bringing in a part time caregiver for Mom. I talked to some of my friends who use caregivers for their parents and was not able to get a good reference, so I went on line and found 3 in-home care agencies in my area to interview and compare services and prices. After talking to all 3 agencies, I decided to go with Caring Companions Referral Agency. I spoke with Melissa, who is the owner, and she immediately made me feel at ease. She clearly explained the entire process to me and I liked the fact that her and her husband own and run the agency. I also found that Melissa was able to offer me the lowest rate out of the 3 agencies I called, and that was certainly a factor in my decision as well along with my brother and sister. Initially I started my Mom with 4 hours per day Monday through Friday, and then I was able to personally cover the weekends. Recently this past year however, I had to increase my Mom's hours to 8 hours per day Monday through Friday because it is getting harder and more risky for my mom to get around on her own and do some of the personal hygiene things on her own like bathing and grooming as she is now 92, but she is still as sharp as a nail! Whenever Mom's caretaker is going to be on vacation or is sick, Melissa has always been able to find a capable replacement to cover. I am very happy with the service I receive from Caring Companions Referral Agency, but most importantly my mom is happy she gets to continue to stay at home and has developed a very nice bond with her caregiver. I owed a bill to this business, and called them to try to pay with card over the phone. A woman…read morenamed Mary answered the phone, and when I asked to speak to the owner, she rudely snapped "WHO IS THIS"?!?!? The rude way she spoke to me was totally uncalled for. There are many ways to get that info without being rude and mean about it. You can say: "With whom do I have the pleasure of speaking?", for example. Or: "May I tell her who is calling?" Anything but for the nasty way she spoke to me! And, when I spoke to Deanna [the owner] about it, instead of apologizing to me for the rudeness, she defended Mary, and basically said that they get so many phone calls that they get tired of answering the phone! REALLY??? So, I guess that they have all the business they can reasonably handle. In my mind the only reason to be so rude is if you have something to hide. That is what I took away from the experience. That this business has something they are trying to hide. I'll never use this service again. And, I certainly would never trust an elder in their care.

Suddenly my husband was admitted into the hospital for an emergency procedure. Just as suddenly he was to be discharged -- unable to do anything unassisted. No way was I having him to go a nursing home; but how was I going to get him into the car or into the house when I got home? How was I going to care for him when we got home? I called Scott. Within an hour he had everything set up. Someone would be at the hospital to transfer my husband in and out of car and to help when we got home. Can you imagine my relief??? As it turned out, my husband was held for another day and, surprisingly, was able to walk with a walker. Within a short time, however, we did need help in house. Scott has been terrific working with us and my crazy schedule. We are very happy with the care my husband is receiving and feel very fortunate that there is such high quality service available for us.
