He actually picked up the phone. He talked with me for about 40 minutes, explaining all the services he offers and how it would look helping my dad (and mom). He knows his stuff! Very compassionate. Knowledgeable. Caring. There are a lot of things to consider when hiring a caregiver. Legalities. Regulations. Matching a caregiver with a client. So much more. Dwight explained it all so clearly. Big one: If you have a long-term healthcare insurance policy, make sure to check the waiting period. My mom hadn't looked at the policy in years, and sure enough there was a waiting period. His advice on activating it was on point. He met with my mom and I within a week of first talking on the phone. He re-explained to my mom all the services he offers. She was able to use him for only a week....my dad returned to the hospital. And never returned home. Dwight was so supportive. Would not hesitate to call Dwight.

Over the course of several weeks, I worked closely with Lina while arranging the additional support my mother needed following her surgery, which had been significantly delayed due to the Kaiser strike. Throughout the process, Lina was professional, compassionate, kind, and extremely helpful. There were several frustrating moments related to scheduling issues, many of which I expressed to Kaiser. Lina was always honest and transparent, explaining that all of their Spanish-speaking caregivers were currently assigned to other clients. Even so, she consistently took the time to listen to my concerns, answer questions, and help explore possible solutions. Lina maintained regular communication to ensure my mother received the specific care she needed when she needed it. While there were some scheduling challenges along the way, Lina remained proactive, attentive, and supportive, helping us navigate each obstacle. She also worked closely with her scheduling team to make sure my mother's care needs were met. I am grateful for Lina's dedication and commitment throughout this process. We chose Home Instead as it seemed to be the best option at the time. A Home Instead Exec comes to…read moreyour home and spends several hours understanding what your parent's needs are. Generally we were happy with the services however you still have to stay on top of the care givers who can be hit or miss. It takes a while to find the right ones and sometimes they are switched around without any notification and even, on occasion do not show up but the agency does find someone. You have to pay an initial deposit upon signing including a pre-payment or services and if you don't use the 24 hour shift rate, it goes to an hourly fee (we paid $22 per hour). The carers unfortunately don't even get half this amount. It is a business at the end of the day and they are there to make a profit. After nearly a year of using their services, we chose another option. We wanted our mother to get out of the house, go to senior functions, the beach, etc. Mother was a challenge to get up and out but the reality was that the majority of caregivers let her have her own way and did not take her out of the house - it was just easier that way. More like a babysitting service. We did not want this as she could sleep the entire day away if allowed. The two carers that we had most of the time were good, however we moved Mother to a secure environment in the end because we just felt she wasn't getting the stimulation that we wanted by having someone care for her in her own home. It is a challenging situation and every family is different but having Mother stay in her own home didn't work out for us.

But I no longer see them assisting the patient so I'm not sure if they no longer work for the company since I haven't seen them in a while . Instead, the staff members I encounter are incredibly arrogant; their communication and conduct are completely unprofessional for the healthcare field. They are rude and lack professional integrity. They never follow through on promises made to the patient and avoid returning calls. There is a total lack of responsibility--whether among new or existing staff. They make up all sorts of excuses to avoid admitting fault when they make mistakes. Specifically a staff member named Vivian; I highly recommend HR and management look into this employees conduct and lack of company value and morale. I will never recommend this company for their loved ones due to their poor service that changed from what it use to be . Quality of care here is not of importance to management if they allow this to go on as it shows. Some serious employee evaluations need to take place before they get hit with a lawsuit .
