Really surprised by this space and it's definitely not for urgent care. We called and texted per instructions on the window to ask for help with an allergy - the text suggested we go to CVS and that the care unit was all booked, the phone was never picked up. No complaints with this urgent care. Staff was accommodating, attentive, and listened to my questions and concerns. I initially contacted Carewell's Cambridge location after being turned down by a different urgent care because they "aren't taking new patients". After explaining my situation to CareWell's receptionist over the phone, she offered to stay open to patients later than they typically would, which meant the world to me as I was quite desperate. Once I got there, I was quickly checked in, examined, and given a course of treatment complete with drug info and symptoms to look out for. I have clearly had a better experience than others who went to this CareWell location, but I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing short-notice, non-emergency care. read more

If you want to know why for-profit urgent care centers get a bad reputation you can start with here. I was sick, and on top of feeling miserable I was extremely worried I had covid, so I made an appointment online to get tested. I show up for my appointment and they had no record of it, no traces of it ever existing, and no info on me despite the fact that I had already been there twice previously for rapid testing. They finally pull up a file on me and it has the wrong DOB. So I made another appointment right there in person for later that night. Show up for my new appointment and the exact same woman who had booked it with her own two hands tells me they don't have any appointment for me. I stand there and repeatedly give her my information again while she asks me several times to confirm DOBs that aren't mine. And then without explanation tell me that my appointment has materialized. I ended up sitting in the waiting room, not the line, the waiting room with an appointment, for over 90 minutes. Every once in a while they'd call a name that kind of sounded like mine, There are only a handful of people in the waiting room with me, and none of them are responding to it, so it's getting increasingly stranger. Finally they call my full name clear as day, and when I get to the desk they tell me that it's not me and the person they're looking for with my name is 2 years old. I don't know how gaslighting me instead of just taking a 10 second look around at a waiting room that at no point featured an independent toddler waiting for his covid test made sense but I tried to be cool about it. But after 3 or 4 attempts already that day they still couldn't get my DOB right. Get to the room. It's actually kind of funny at this point because they spent so long believing I was 2 years old that they put me in the kids room with like cartoon animals spelling the alphabet on the wall. The nurse is very nice. Asks me to confirm yet another fictitious DOB. Tells me she's going to the front desk to correct it and I don't see her again for another 40 minutes. Finally get my tests done, but since I'm symptomatic a doctor had to come examine me. That takes almost an hour to the point where I got up and left the room to ask if anyone is actually coming. At this point the waiting room is empty, the office is technically closed, and the entire staff is hanging out just chilling minus one woman, who I'd later learn is the doctor I'm waiting on, doing 10 things at once with no help from anyone else. Doctor shows up. Reads me yet another DOB off my records, this time placing me in my 80's. Regrettably I was very terse with this doctor but what does anyone want from me at this point? They knew I had symptoms and kept me there over 3 hours just from sheer refusal to do a couple basic administrative tasks correctly. I had tried my best to be cool about it but I'm sitting in a baby exam room a half hour after closing sick to my stomach and exhausted and every person I talk to acts surprised that I'm there. Thankfully it wasn't covid and I'm alive to type this review and not a skeleton swept behind a pile of alphabet blocks. It also took me days to get my test results viewable online because... you're never gonna believe this... but they had a problem with my records. read more

Ask for credit card on file - boy, have I gone to a bar? 3. No respect for time - waited 2 hours to be seen. 4. Nurse - body odor 5. Staff - rude. If you're required to fulfill a drug test in advance of an employment offer, go elsewhere. I stopped in at 2:30pm on a weekday and had to wait almost an hour. Initially there was a line of three people ahead of me and then, for ten minutes, none. The receptionist was friendly and professional, checking to see what was causing the delay, and apologized twice. The PA, Kimberly McCarty, who performed the test was anything but. When I politely mentioned my wait, her brusque response was, "we're an urgent care clinic; you have to expect that." No apology. I don't know if that's her everyday approach. I don't know if she simply doesn't like performing drug tests. (She's in the wrong business if that's the case.) I don't know if she's simply having a bad day. I have written several reviews about the PA Brad Stone because he is so awesome. I am a pharmacist and understand the medical system pretty well from both the patient and provider side. Brad is one of the best PAs I've ever seen (and I've worked with a lot of PAs in primary care). He was super professional. He assessed my symptoms appropriately and listened to me. He provided me with several prescriptions for my infection and my symptoms. If I could give him a 10, I would. I would go back to this location just to see Brad. I'm so glad he was there to help me and I'm already feeling better. Thanks Brad! read more

Staff is helpful and as patient as possible so I do feel bad for them given the recent influx of patients and therefore my review is for the operations behind Carewell which is not unique to this specific location. The process simply said, is a hot mess. It's first come first serve where you have to scan a unique QR code at each specific location and then wait until you're called in. If you get to the location after 6:30AM (location opens at 8AM so bundle up and bring a book), you'll probably have a three hour wait so beware. Yesterday I arrived at 4PM and they told me it was a 4 hour wait. They then called me three hours later to tell me they wouldn't be able to fit me in and I'd have to start all over again tomorrow (no appointment rollover). Once you are finally called in after your insanely long wait, you then have to go inside re-register, pay, and sit inside again (why? no idea but somehow Carewell believed that this process was a good call). Inside, there were about ten people and a few who were even taking off their masks... definitely not what I call a "clean" place to be. After another 90 minute wait, you finally go in and are tested (this process and wait applies to all types of appointments by the way, not just COVID testing). Why there is no pre-registration, appointment scheduling, or drive-through options completely baffles me but I definitely know I will not be returning here ever again until this process is fixed. read more

If you can avoid it, don't come here for a COVID test. They are extremely disorganized so they take an extremely long time to serve patients. I arrived before noon on a Saturday and had to wait over 4 hours to be seen. But there were only 20 or so people ahead of me in line when I arrived. It seemed like they were using an online waitlist, but you could only get on the waitlist by waiting in a long line. Some other people in line got there at 8:30am and were still waiting to be seen at 3:30pm. Also, I would expect the situation to be the same at other CareWell locations. But it would've been nice if they could have referred me to another location with a shorter wait. I would've happily traveled to a farther location if I thought it would have gotten me in faster. I think the reason people go to CareWell is to get a "rapid" test, but I wouldn't recommend it for most people. Although a positive result means you probably have COVID, a negative result is not a guarantee that you don't have COVID. Which kind of defeats the purpose of having the test. read more

Karen Alerts There!! I paid a visit to care well urgent yesterday but was stuck with the registration system for a long time. The receptionist was too busy joking around with another white patient to help me. When she finally had a little time to talk to me, I complained to her the registration system sucks which pissed her off. She refused to provide service to me asking me to leave with a fake accusation that I called her bitch which I didn't. Then she called the police to the scene insisting on the false accusation. I am a decent person with a good job and it was so humiliating to be framed by and refused service which might only be due to my color or not being fluent in English. Went in for a badly infected finger. First time in was great w/MARGARET GENTILE, NP. Went back a few days later as this was not healing. Second time w/ BRADLEY STONE, PA in a disaster. I was there at 4pm on a Tues afternoon. After I in was in the exam room dr. told me would I have a 20 min wait while they finished with another patient. No Problem. After 75 minutes, no one came in to inform me what was happening. I went out of the room asked- was told the other patient was now in an emergency status, but that the dr was finishing up and would be right in. I wish somebody has updated me, but... I wait and wait. Now its over its 2 hrs - was told the same thing. Dr, now came out and said in a bitchy tone that he was sorry that the other patient was in a life or death situation (!) and he didn't have time to tell me what was going on! My response was - this is urgent care - someone that sick at this hr should be taken by ambulance to Cambridge hospital - 5 blocks away - he told me that he wasn't going to spoken to that way and that i could be treated else where! I got my jacket and said on the way out - who the f*ck are you to speak to me that way after 2.5 hrs with no one letting me know what was going on and left in a room- and that the entire place was f*cked. His discharged notes claimed for no reason that i started swearing at the staff after a short wait! NICE FICTION! read more

I hate to write reviews like this, but I had a truly terrible experience at this CareWell Urgent Care. For a new job I'm starting I had to get a drug test and they directed me to this location with about 2 days to get it done. I called CareWell 4 times over the course of the day to make an appointment, however each time, no one answered! Since I had to get this done, I showed up and the receptionist rudely told me they don't take walk-ins. She was extremely unprofessional and when I explained the situation she basically told me "that's not my problem." She was very slow with a busy waiting room, and I had to wait almost 3 hours for a 5 minute visit. Wish I picked a different location for this, will never return to this CareWell. read more

On Thursday, this center is supposed to close at 8. But apparently, the center closes whenever the doctor decides she wants to go home for the day! The Urgent Care facility I was planning to go to was unexpectedly closed due to facility issues. Due to needing immediate care, I decided to pay for an expensive Lyft to this Urgent Care so I could make it at least 30 minutes before close. I walk through the door, start talking to the receptionist, and she tells me the doctor is packing up. 30 minutes before the listed closing time. She wouldn't even go talk to the doctor and let her know that a patient was there in need of care. This is an Urgent Care facility, and there should be some sense of URGENCY around meeting patient needs. Lazy, unprofessional doctors have no place in healthcare. read more

There was only one other person in the waiting room and I arrived 15 minutes early still it took 1 hour to get a covid test, after the test I tried to leave, they said they wouldn't be able to bill my insurance for the test if I didn't wait for the results. I doubted that this was true but waited and about 15 minutes later a PA met with me and looked for ways to run other tests on me. It was clear they liked my insurance and weren't going to let me leave without trying to run up the bill. It seems its not a health care provider as much as it's and insurance billing machine that they run. I wonder how much they are going to charge me for sitting with that PA for 3 minutes while she told me my tests were negative? read more

Patients beware! Absolutely horrible experience I had when I took my girlfriend in because she had some terrible skin reactions that we could not determine the cause of. It took us over 5 hours to he seen and we arrived right when they opened at 8AM. When we were finally seen, the doctor wa very unprofessional and was not able to determine the cause. Also, they advised AGAINST many of the things that were HIGHLY SUGGESTED by other doctors. They DO NOT KNOW what they're doing here and are looking to just take your insurances' money for treatment then have you go on your way. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. We waited 5 hours to be seem for 5 mins in order to get a BS diagnosis. read more

I patronized Carewell Urgent Care for a 2-step TB test and a physical, both mandated by my employment. During my visit, I interacted with numerous medical assistants, the Physican Assistant (Tara), and Omar one of the technicians. Tara's physical was extremely thorough, more thorough that my primacy care provider. I'm glad she takes medicine seriously. Omar's customer service was exemplary. I also patronized their Warwick location to have one of the TB tests read. All of their locations are extremely accessible and convenient. read more

Wait times are ridiculous. I made an appointment online and filled out all forms online to ensure my visit would be as efficient as possible. All I needed was a simple employment drug test. I waited almost 2 hours for a 5 minute test. Employees do not care how long you sit there waiting. Avoid if possible. Much better experience at Mass General Brigham in Cambridge. read more

1st patient of the day, I gave the receptionist benefit of the doubt as her first words were, "this isnt my typical position im an MA" 30 minutes in the waiting room while I listened to the Drs. and PA's shoot the shit. five minute visit with the doctor where he came in with the mentality that "this patient thinks she knows everything" to the point where I started crying. trying to shoo me out saying "its allergies" (actually borderline pnuemonia) I asked for a written script, was denied, waited at walgreens for 45 minutes. called, waited on hold for 45 minutes during that time I walked back to the urgent care to have the receptionist personally put me on hold to go to the phone and ask me to hold. After she violently screamed at me that it will be 30 minutes before my script is put in, I tried to explain that it had already been 2 hours since i walked out of there the first time. I left. I will hopefully pick up my script tonight. 45 minutes after being asked to hold I was hung up on. Every other review is similar - I will not be going back. they need more help. read more

I am so, so thankful CareWell exists! The customer service is excellent, the care is spot-on, the check in was seamless and there was no wait at all. Here on vacation and was hit with Strep but they diagnosed it quick and got me what I needed. I wish all urgent care centers were like this! read more

Get your credit card ready because Carewell refuses to take insurance. They only want you if you are willing to pay the $160 up front. Their website states that they take most insurances when they take none. Their websites also states that they accept all patients when they only accept asymptomatic ones aka the ones who will pay $160. When you finally make it into the room after waiting outside for hours, the receptionist goes around collecting credit cards. They are supposed to take health insurance. Someone who worked there even asked a few of us for our insurance companies and said they were all accepted. However, the people who sit inside an office to the left of the entrance were the ones who changed that and suddenly decided to deny insurance for no reason. It is a pity that that this place is more focused on making money instead of helping the community during a pandemic. They were fined $2M last year for false billing, its in the news. read more

Before you read all of these negative reviews, take into consideration that this is an urgent care and there not staffed like a doctors office, ER or even the time that you have to wait during busy times of the day is out of their control. This was an AMAZING urgent care, both girls that worked with me were so sweet and it was fast for me. I went in a very slow time of day so I was seen, examined and out within an hour. They gave me next steps and recommendations for what to do next and that was helpful. They didn't give me a diagnosis because I needed something that required a lot of testing. With that being said, urgent care is not the place where you can take Blood or do crazy tests. I would return again if I ever had a problem. They truly were all sweet. read more

This place is beyond disgusting charging people $160 to get tested for COVID. Not even asking if they have health insurance, merely asked me if I was a healthcare worker or if I was showing symptoms. I know I was in close contact with someone who recently tested positive and that did not matter. Neither did the fact I have blue cross blue shield insurance. Testing should be 100% free this is absolute abusive of power trying to charge people who are trying to help their communities and lower the spread of this disease ruining everyones lives. Okay: the service itself was disorganized and slow. We left one Cambridge location for the other for (supposedly) a lower wait time. Then, while frying outside in Inman Square, (the waiting area is a two hour line snaking through an open parking lot) we got a call they were ready to see us in Alewife. Too late. Everything I had read indicated that I had to sign for $160 to cover the cost in case my insurer failed to pay. I never agreed to self pay with $160. I have post op complications and, because of my persistent fever despite two full rounds of antibiotics, the hospital where my doctor works out of will not let me see him without a new covid test (I had the first pre-surgery, but also pre-fever). My hand were tied, I need to see my provider fast, and this org was listed with Mass.gov as doing fast tests. Mt Auburn Hospital was too, but they stopped offering the service--which I only found out from calling them directly. So, I had no worry that my insurance would be billed and that I could be seen by BWH. Well. There was a problem. BWH doesn't recognize the lab as a legit source. And? Mass.gov ALSO lists CareWell as losing a recent fraud case for over billing insurers. No wonder they go directly to trying to switch your request that insurance be billed to having you self pay. I found out afterward that my friend (who was also billed for her test) heard the receptionist telling people that if they billed insurance and it was rejected, the self pay would increase automatically to around $700. This is something I had never heard. My test was medically indicated. Now: the doctor, who is actually a naturopath, it turns out, was great. I have no complaints about his ability. At all. I just think that he happens to be working at a clinic that scams people because they know they are going to get rejected by insurers they previously defrauded. Mass.gov should be made aware that everybody is charged $160, automatically and any paperwork indicating that this is just to cover the case if rejected by insurance because they feel the test was not medically indicated, is a ruse. read more
