I had the greens to go smoothie which I found a little chalky and you could still taste the protein powder a bit too much for my taste. I had the almond butter toast to use up a gift card, which was fine but I'm not sure I would personally pay $5.87 for it. I found this place a little bit inconvenient to go to since the hours on Google and Yelp are incorrect and they didn't have any hours posted on their door, but they open at 10am on Tuesdays and not 7am. I also found it odd that they bill themselves as "on the go" food, but you cannot order ahead for pick up. If you order ahead you still have to go to the register to pay, which makes it a less convenient option than other campus options that do allow pick-up. There is no seating inside, but there are close tables and chairs that are outside. Note: This is on the UCSD campus, so it's not very convenient to go to unless you are already on the campus as you have to pay for parking.

I would pass on the toasts which felt like they came out of the can. The student running the counter was friendly and happy to strike up conversation. I can imagine this being pricey for college students. I found it refreshing given how expensive things are getting. I would come back again especially to enjoy the sea breeze on the rocking chairs!

We waited about 30 minutes (Sunday afternoon rush), but it gave me plenty of time to explore the menu. I usually stick to a simple order, but with so many base options, I decided to "do it all," and I'm so glad I did. My son loved the pitaya and mango bases (and so did I). The blue coconut and classic açaí were excellent, and the blue chia topping was a fun and tasty surprise. All the fruit was extra fresh, and the granola added the perfect crunch. We absolutely loved everything and will definitely be back soon!

I decided to just park along Gilman Drive, which is free, and walked about 20 minutes. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all -- it was a sunny day and there's plenty of street parking if you're willing to walk a bit. I've always loved Blue Bowl Superfoods in Oceanside. It's SO good and easily one of my favorite açaí spots, I could literally eat it every single day. I love all the customizations they offer, the variety of bases, and just how many ingredients they have. This time, I decided to visit their UCSD location, which is right in the middle of University of California San Diego's campus. They open around 10 AM on Saturdays (and typically around 8 AM on weekdays), and even right at opening there were already a lot of people waiting. My friend and I were still able to get in and out pretty quickly around 10. I ended up getting their mango passion base along with açaí. For toppings, I loaded it up strawberries, bananas, apples, blackberries, blueberries they truly have so many options. I also love their variety of nuts, seeds, and different types of nut butters. They really don't skimp on choices. Overall, I would highly recommend stopping by. I was SO full after, and honestly, you could even split a bowl with a friend because they pack it generously. It's about $12 for a normal medium-sized bowl, which I think is worth it for the portion and quality. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated. The ambiance is nice it's more of a grab-your-bowl and then sit outside type of vibe, but there is indoor seating as well. Definitely one of my favorite açaí spots, and this location did not disappoint.

You can hear the waves from the ocean over the sound of the espresso machine as though you were feet from the beach. Nestled between a Scripps/UCSD Oceanography campus, it's a small/quaint private getaway. Since the word is getting out it's been quite busy and it totally killed my zen to see people doing zoom conferences and speaking loudly at their screens throughout. Really? Oh well, to each their own. The lavender latte was delicious and hit the spot. The sourdough they used for the toast was heavenly...filled with air holes and homemade sourdough flavor. Loved the heart shaped toast. They take care with their presentation. Only drawback is lack of parking. Unless there is some secret spot I haven't discovered yet, be prepared for a bit of a hike. I've been here on the weekend as well and the lines can get long.

It's an open air setting featuring an open patio with a good amount of seating- lots of students and WFH folks. It was so gorgeous. A tiny place tucked away enough that could make being productive feel like paradise. The coffee on the other hand, was just alright. We got a classic Iced Vanilla Latte and it was fine. It was pretty sweet, so take with that what you will. Some notes: Parking is difficult to find here. Try residential or the surrounding hills. You get 20% off if you're a UCSD student or staff.

You are expected to find your own seats and you order your food either on the app or in-person. The ambiance is nice and the view can be pretty nice as well. The area is clean and there is a lot of seating both outside and inside. Compared to the other dining halls, a lot would say OVT is on the higher end.
