Lets get the good going first. We came here straight from the dock. I saw a man eating a huge lobster and had to have one! We were able to pick the exact lobster we wanted. When you get of the ferry in Isla Mujeres, there are quite a few restaurants. The entrance to Restaurante Miramar is nice, but not much different than any of the others. What I found outstanding was their outside seating in front of the waterline. The lovely tables are surrounded by hand-carved chairs, decorated with marine life. You sit, facing the beach underneath coconut & palm trees. There is a small pier with an "Isla Mujeres" sign and a bench covered by a fiberglass shark, both of which offer great photo ops. They offer fresh oysters and lobsters as well as other seafood; other items are also available. Service is friendly. Food is good. Prices are OK (you're not going to find any "inexpensive" restaurants on Isla Mujeres). Would I go out of my way to eat here? No, but I also wouldn't recommend you not eat here. read more

This is a pretty good spot on the main (downtown) drag. Honestly, I was heading next door, but the dude out front was cocky. 'Are you as good as them?' I asked. 'Better,' he said. 'They love their microwave.' I was sold. -- Atmosphere is outstanding (same as many other places along the shore). Service is fantastic. Food is delicious. If you think you're coming to Mexico and getting 'cheap' prices, go somewhere else. While this isn't exactly a max-your-card place, it's not exactly McDonald's when it comes to prices. -- Nor should it be. Everything came to us hot and fresh. And delicious. Lobster Tacos were 400 pesos each according to their menu, we had 2, yet the bill shows 900 pesos. How does 400 x 2 equals 900? They also add tip/gratuity to the bill immediately. We got breakfast/take-out from here since my friend was stuck in the hotel working and everything was pretty solid. We ordered basic nachos, quesadilla with shrimp, al pastor tacos, a side of guac, salsa and chips, and i believe a chorizo omelette, everything came out to $41. The nachos were soggy but not disintegrating when we were ready to eat (~15 mins later). The portion sizes were bigger than expecting... the guac must have had 3-4 avocados and I believe it was 90 pesos! Shrimp quesadilla was bomb and we loved everything, I loved the nachos a bit less because they were already soggy from the long trip from the restaurant to our mouths but overall, would recommend especially for dining in. Tried Miramar as I was waiting to catch the ferry back to Cancun. I ordered the coconut shrimp and Sangria. The Sangria was delicious. The fried coconut shrimp were ok. When we went in early November 2018, this place was not accepting Card, only cash. The food here is great! At least I'm pretty sure it was, it's hard to remember because the drinks are good and not expensive! Left the resort for a day trip to Isla Mujeres and we stopped here for lunch. We were not disappointed! The restaurant is large and open air, with many tables in the sand by the water. It's beautiful. There are also some great photo ops. The complimentary chips and dip were delicious. Some of the best pico I have ever had! The chicken nachos are what really stole the show though. SOOOO good. Everyone was happy with their food -- meat burrito, hamburger and fries, fish tacos, and a whole fish. Service was also pretty good, but our server kinda disappeared near the end. No drink refills and we had to track him down for our check. Overall it was a good experience though. The only thing we really didn't like is that people are allowed to walk through the restaurant selling things. We got asked if we wanted to buy shark tooth necklaces and cigars seven times in one sitting. read more

Our tour of isla contoy and isla mujeres docked right outside miramar. It looked like a pretty fresh place with boxes of fresh produce everywhere. We initially went out and explored plays mujeres, which is an interesting island of golf cart riding beach goers.... Anyway we came back for a drink, sans chips and guac( because for those gluten free out there they fry their corn tortillas in a shared fryer). My strawberry daiquiri looked amazing but was exceptionally watered down to the point where it is quite possible they forgot to throw a little alcohol is way..... My boyfriend was a little more successful with the rum punch. Overall service, though the waiters are super nice and helpful, was extremely slow. I had to be more pushy than in would have liked just to get the check. I don't recommend this place for drinks, just keep walking. Unlike the other reviews on here I had a good experience the recent two times I came to the restaurant in September 2016. Staff was very attentive even though both times I was very indecisive. First time I went there for lunch and got beef quesedillas which were pretty good. Have visited Isla for 20+ years so we are very familiar with both quality & standards. Unlike the experience of some prior reviewers, this location now accepts credit cards. Unfortunately, this was the least pleasant meal we had on Isla this visit. Any future stop at this location will only be for drinks since it is a pleasant location & the service was good, but no more food. Nothing more than a "very average" plate lunch in a school cafeteria. Ordered fish sauteed in butter & garlic & the "tiny" portion measured 2"x5" & about 1/4" thick. Was served with a side of soggy boiled carrots & squash & a "tiny" cup of rice. The fish & both side dishes arrived barely warm. We are usually quite pleased with most restaurants on Isla, but this was a definite miss. I went with the coconut shrimp. Way way WAY too much batter. And it wasn't very good batter either. What do they have against salt in Mexico? I ended up taking all the breading off and just eating the shrimp. Didn't like the sauce it came with or the bland rice pilaf type rice either. Nor the mystery vegetables..I think we decided it was turnips and parsnips? Dad really enjoyed his fried white fish though and it did look pretty amazing. The fillet was large and he had to take most of it home. Chips and salsa were standard island fare. Paid a lot of money for food I didn't like. The waiter didn't ask why my plate was full when he cleared it. Was all too happy to just bring the check. Won't be returning here. The 2 stars was completely for the awesome ambiance plus one star for dads fish. Nothing quite like dining on the beach with your toes in the sand. We had four dishes: shrimp with coconut breading crust, pan grilled tilapia with vegetables, pan grilled chicken breast with a side and plain red spaghetti. The shrimp were tasteless and crust tasted weird. The chicken and tilapia fish tasted the same, not fresh, an old frozen taste! Both were uneatable.... Not even the vegetables. Guess what was eatable? In a place which is supposed to have fresh seafood. The pasta! Not that it was great but at least it did not taste frozen or old.
