    Goat Roti
    Shernell H.

Disclaimer: this review is solely based on a takeout order. So, the first few words that immediately comes to mind are massive portions and affordable. For my introductory meal to Caribbean Grill, I decided on the Goat Roti. In my opinion, the Goat Roti was basically two servings, which was approximately $15 (a win). As it relates to taste, for me, I was expecting a little bit my flavoring and succulent-ness (lol I know it's not a word) of the goat with more potatoes on the inside of the roti. But overall, it was okay. I will definitely be open to trying another dish (when I am in the area) to make another assessment of the Caribbean Grill.

Yall can go ahead and run to this here spot. Actually friendly/kind service (don't usually find that for Caribbean food spots lol) and a nice clean open space. That goat roti is something I would come back for weekly! That and their beef patties - so good! Beef and chicken patties both have just a little spice so if you don't like a little kick then don't get it. I thought it was mild but noticeable. Both patties were a great size and meat to bread ratio. Perfect snack on the go. I found the oxtail to be sweeter than I would go for but was cooked well. The goat had great flavor and the roti was cooked perfectly. I'll be back whenever I'm back that way

The 1 star is for the portion. This was very disappointing. The amount of unseasoned sauce on this chicken you would think the chicken wouldn't be dry. Nope, dry, a little hard and random bones in the sauce. The sauce barely had flavor. The rice is just ok and the cabbage eh.

Came here because I was looking for some roti... the food was hot and delicious and plentiful. They give you so much food which is a plus. Also got coco bread and a chicken patty. The coco bread was okay as far as the chicken patty I had better. The people are nice and courteous. The restaurant is also nice and clean.

BBQ jerk wings and shrimp roti The shrimp literally falls apart. I am so disappointed. No flavor.

So this place is in District Heights. It's ran with a crew of two. I love some Jamaican food so I stopped in. The lady was super nice and sweet. The Jamaican ma cooking was also nice. The only down fall was it was dirty in the eating area. My food had lint in it so I just threw it away. We ordered a Jerk Chicken Sandwich, wings, coco bread, and a vegetable stir fry. I want to give them a better review but the lint did it for me. The bread is freshly cooked there so it was soggy immediately after ordering. There was just too much ranch. Probably wouldn't come back unless someone I knew was in a dire craving for this.

Okay, I can be very hard to please when it comes to Jamaican food. The food looked good and the wait time wasn't long. The price was fair ($10 for small jerk wing meal) However the taste was bony that authentic taste of great Jamaican food. For example the rice and peas was very bland, and the bbq jerk wings just tasted like spicy bbq baked chicken.... Will I visit again? Maybe. I just wish the flavor would stand out.

Ordered vegetable roti & got dry bland cabbage in half cooked roti... was told I should've asked what was in it beforehand, but who only expects cabbage in VEGETABLE roti? Went here to cheer me up from a rough day & this just made it worse... never again.

This was my first time here at this restaurant. I ordered takeout thru the Yelp app and my food was ready by the time that was estimated. I ordered the curry goat and oxtail combination platter with a beef patty as an appetizer. First, my oxtail and curry goat was so flavorful, the rice was perfect and the cabbage nice and crunchy the way I like it. Everything flowed together nicely and was seasoned perfectly. Next, the beef patty. Whew. I was not expecting how spicy it was but it was soooo good. I wish I had gotten 2 or 3 for later. It was crispy and hot. A nice size also. Overall, I would definitely come here again.

Better than any other place I've had in the DMV with the exception of one place that closed. Rasta pasta? FIRE. Y'all, it was so good. I got chicken and shrimp... oohhhwheeeee. Jerk chicken was flavorful and so good. The cooker was on outside when we pulled up! The oxtail was good, too. Needed more gravy and maybe a bit more spice but gooddd. And I can confirm it's oxtail, not kangaroo tail (IYKYK). Rum cake was good, too! Might be the weakest link but I'd get it again. Service: honestly, the young woman working was very nice. So nice that I almost wondered if the food was going to be off (again, IYKYK), but she cracked a joke at the end of our interaction that was so heartwarming. They have cute little tables and benches outside. I will absolutely be back. Ooohhhh and look at the fridge drinks available!

The service was within the normal range for homemade food; and the staff was pleasant. I felt comfortable; although the area is a bit isolated at night. For a takeout place, this place is a 5. Their menu features Carribean and American dishes. I ordered a curry chicken dinner and a chicken patty. The food was delicious. I had plenty of leftovers. Real poultry, rice, beans and cabbage..hmmmmm. It's all in the seasoning.

The aesthetics and overall vibe are beautiful and on point. There's plenty of space, so it doesn't feel overcrowded. When my friend and I arrived, we decided to sit upstairs, and I liked that it had the same vibe as downstairs. To me, that's something that really stands out about a place. My friend ordered the shrimp and fries basket, and I ordered the oysters. I have personally never had oysters this bad. They were dry, only three came with the order, and I swear it was nothing but sand in those oysters. I'm gagging just thinking about it, to be honest. Since the oysters were horrible and I was still hungry, I decided to get the shrimp and fries basket because my friend's looked pretty decent. And it was! It came out hot and quick, the shrimp were huge, and they were cooked well. Unfortunately, we didn't stay as long as we wanted because once the DJ arrived, we could no longer hear each other speak. I really wish establishments would understand that people still want to TALK to each other. If we mostly wanted to listen to loud music without socializing, we'd go to a club. Just turn it down a little bit! That would make such a difference. Service was fine. It was moderately busy and we didn't ever feel ignored which is a plus. Anyway, I'm not too pressed to go back, but I probably will because it's local to me, and I can at least get some drinks and the shrimp and fries basket lol.

So my threshold for Caribbean food is pretty high, and you would think with the prices of things on their menu it would be a hit. It wasn't. To start, the ambiance was amazing! It was a beautiful space. Beautifully decorated. I loved the pops of emerald across the space. They didn't have a table for 4 available when we went. So we sat at the bar. The hostess did inform us at the time that they were short staffed so the wait time may be a little excessive. We understood and took the seats anyway. We had just missed happy hour, which was a bummer. But the people i was with wanted to order food. So i ordered my 1 and only drink. I tried some of the food that was ordered. I first tried the brisket... uhm... lol. Let's just say it tasted more like roast than brisket. It was very saucey, tender and fatty. But the flavor was missing something. It had a twinge of sweetness on the backhand. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what i expected. The black rice was also just okay. I love me some Haitian food, but this wasn't that. lol. It was a bit spicy on the backend which i didn't hate. But that was probably my favorite bite of the night. The drinks were good. They were pretty standard to see my bill for my one drink come out to a whopping $30!! And i live in NYC and have NEVER paid that much for a drink... i was shocked and appalled lol. I didn't get anything extra added.. so the sidecar extra charge definitely threw me for a loop, and that's when i realized it was time to go. Would i recommend, uhm... maybe. It's definitely not a must like they claim on socials. It's okay food and drinks. But they can definitely improve. 3/5. See pics below

At heart, I'm a man that truly enjoy most Caribbean dishes ( oxtails, goat, curry/jerk chicken,…read moreroti, etc ) So, I set out on a quest to give a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant a shot at winning me over. That's when I bumped into Caribbean Dish... The name got me, yes it's basic, but the title was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food.... Caribbean Dish you just locked yourself in a loyal customer !!!!! Give them a shot and I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed !!!
