    Curry chicken
    Alaura E.

Food was delicious! All the meat was juicy and tender. Loved all of my side dishes! Highly recommend the stewed and curry chicken. Service was fast, we got there when they were closing so glad them accommodated us and still made our plates. They have seating outside but it's more of a carryout. 10 out of 10 recommend!

    Rasta pasta with shrimp

I was super disappointed in my Rasta pasta. It tasted like someone over cooked the pasta and then threw thousand island dressing on it. I let the staff know when I came in and told them they might wanna try it.. He remade it within maybe 10 minutes or less and it looked the exact same when he gave it back to us except this time they put extra Parmesan cheese. It lacked salt, barely had Rasta flavor in it which is crazy for a Rasta pasta. All for it to be $25 too. Wild. Needless to say I'm never coming back. It was the weirdest tasting sauce I've ever had. It went straight into the garbage. Don't waste your time or money.

    Curry oxtail, and chicken

As we all know, Jamaican food can be pretty pricey, but I have to say, it was worth every penny! I ordered a oxtail and jerk, chicken platter, and it was a delightful surprise to find that it could easily be shared among three of us--all while everyone got plenty to eat! My whole family was over the moon with the delicious food we enjoyed. What a fantastic dining experience!

It's a Jamaican restaurant run by actual Jamaicans so some things are gonna be off....but that's how you know the food is good. I called to place an order and the guy was a little snippy over the phone. That's when I knew the food was gonna be good. Then when I drove up there there was music playing from a large speaker in front of the store and some older men hanging out in lawn chairs by the parking lot. I thought "this food is about to hit!" And when I saw the cook wipe his hands with the gloves on instead of just putting new gloves on, I thought about cancelling my order but I also knew he's probably the best cook in his family. So, if you don't mind any of that, you get to have some amazing food! I got the curry shrimp, a veggie patty and a bottle of soursop juice. Everything hit! I give the food itself a 6/5 stars. Happy eating!

This was my first time visiting this place. Service was on point and the food was great! This location is carry out only, but it's a cute hidden spot. The only thing I can say is the Mac n cheese was only noodles with a bunch of cheese. I like cheese, but it was a lot for me. Now, the jerk salmon was Babe!!! The sauce was great and I loved the peas and rice! It reminded me of a place I visited in the Bahamas. I will definitely be back!!

    Oxtail....BURNT oxtail
    Kei K.

This is my third time going. The first time I went about 15mins before closing and ordered the jerk chicken. The guy in the back is making my food, and now he comes towards the front and stops and after about 30 seconds of him staring in space, I asked what he was doing. He said well we're about to close and I can't give you cold food. He was warming the food in the microwave!!! What?! I tasted the potential so I gave them a second chance and go way before closing and the jerk was good! Get the sauce on the side!! Not that it's needed. Also, I think they use basmati rice, which I don't care for. This last time I got jerk and oxtail. Why was the oxtail BURNT!! And I mean BURNT!! Mind you, he told me ahead of time I'd have to wait 30mins for the oxtail. Which I willingly did because it was a nice day out and had no plans. So you made me wait for 30mins to serve me BURNT food??!

Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

Initially I chose mixed veggies as a side but changed it to mac and cheese with no issues at all; the staff was more than willing. The restaurant itself is spacious compared to most Jamaican spots and is located right next to BJ's. Lunch prices are reasonable, though the regular entrées are on the pricier side in my opinion. That said, the lunch portion was more than enough.

When I tell you that oxtail was falling off the bone? 10/10. The brown stew chicken was flavorful, tender, and cooked just right. The cabbage was seasoned perfectly, not soggy, not bland. Everything on that plate hit. No complaints about the food whatsoever. The space itself is small, clean, and minimally decorated. Nothing fancy, but very well-kept, and I appreciate that. Service was good. The owner personally took care of me and accommodated my request to swap out the rice for extra cabbage with no issue. I always appreciate when owners are hands-on and attentive. Now for the hiccup: the credit card machine wasn't working, so I had to pay via Cash App. Not ideal, but okay. What almost took me out was the attempt to add a service charge. I definitely spoke up because that extra $1? Yeah... it was about the principle. Sheesh. Overall, the positives outweighed the minor inconvenience. The food alone would have me coming back.
