As the day goes on, they run out of things like beef patties and fried dumplings and don't make any more besides the batch they made in the morning. I got curry and jerk from here. I really don't like to give bad reviews but unfortunately it has to be done.. first off I have tried this location not once but twice (I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt) and both times the curry goat was as tough as leather and it just did not have that authentic Carribean curry taste. I also tried the oxtail which was bones and fat ugghhh. The cabbage and rice and peas were ok and lastly the callaloo (hope I spelled that correctly lol) was just dry and tasteless I was very disappointed with my meal. You know how church makes you super hungry?? Well, if you don't, then you've never been to my church lol. So after 3 hours of church, my plans for trying that chicken pasta primavera recipe I saw on FB went out the window. I needed something with some spice and substance! West African food or Carribean food??? Coin flipped and heads said to report to the new restaurant I've been closely monitoring on Yelp. So I called my order in ahead of time because I know how notoriously slow the service is at most Carribean restaurants. The guy took my order for an ox tail and curry goat combo with a side of cocoa bread and told me it'll be ready in 5 minutes. So being that I was approx. 20 mins away, I thought it should be ready when I got there. WRONG! I was not surprised though. After about a 10 minute wait and some entertainment from a woman dressed in a hot long sleeve all white gown complete with an upside down duck bill hat trying to save souls and bargain her way to some free food, my order was ready. The aroma from the food had my moth watering all the way home. I couldn't WAIT to dig in! And my waiting was not in vain!! Perfectly spiced and tender, they even remembered my extra gravy!! I could taste a hint of coconut milk throughout the rice and peas and the cabbage was tasty. The only negative thing was the cocoa bread that I tossed because it was hard as a rock from being microwaved by the chef. I really wanted some rum raisin ice cream, which they don't sell. If I had time I would have surely stayed for the lunch buffet. I was greeted with a smile by the young lady working the cash register. She was warm and welcoming as I asked a few questions about some of the menu items. There was music playing that would take away all your troubles if you let it. I noticed the other people behind the register and they looked like they were enjoying the moment while they were working. I immediately thought there's probably a lot of love put into this food. Everyone seemed so happy to be there and like they wanted do what they were doing. Almost like a family preparing Thanksgiving dinner together and we (the customers) were a part of the family. I stopped by this place today after my class on a whim. I'm not familiar with the area so the cashier was kind enough to give me directions back to the highway. The food was well worth the stop. I ordered curried chicken and jerk chicken wings. The portion size was really good for the price. The chicken was seasoned well and I enjoyed the rice and peas with the cabbage. This was the worst oxtails dinner I ever tasted , no flavor, burnt oxtails covered up with sweet gravy with no seasoning. The cabbage had no flavor. I was born and raised in Jamaica West Indies, not Jamaica New York, and I can cook better than this so called Caribbean Grill. I stopped in for lunch yesterday (11/16/15) and there was a sign on the front door advertising the jerk chicken sandwich for $5.45...perfect! I ordered that, along with a dumpling and a beef patty. The sandwich was definitely not what I was expecting. I've had them before, and it's usually jerk chicken chopped up and put on coco bread, topped w/ lettuce and a dressing. This one here was tossed in the dressing, thus losing the jerk flavor. Also, the coco bread here is SO soft and yummy! It's like eating a warm, fluffy piece of heaven...but it's not good for the sandwich. It fell apart instantly. I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. I def won't be getting that again. My new spot! I never write reviews people, but I had to this time. I have a go to place for Carribean, but it was closed and this place was closer, so I rolled the dice. I ordered goat roti and brown stew chicken and my wife ordered the bbq jerk wings, all were excellent, especially the goat. My wife isn't in to Carribean food but she is now in love with the sweet potato cake. Now she doesn't even roll her eyes when I say I want Carribean food for dinner. I don't know why this place doesn't have better ratings. No place is perfect and I know people are quick to write negative ratings based on an isolated incident but no so much based on a positive one. So I asked the employees why does the lady get too go first and he immediately started raising his voice at me so I tell the too calm down I was just asking a question but one thing lead too another before you knew it I just left without the food just for asking a question. My main complaint is treat everyone the same unless there was a VIP line I didn't know about anyway I will never go there and don't recommend anyone go there because of there customer service experience. The coco bread was also good and soft, by the time we got to it we had to put it in the microwave, but it was still pretty yummy. The beef patties were over cooked unfortunately, I had to break the patty to avoid hurting my gums on the hard crust. The shrimp in the roti was also over cooked and tasted mushy. I read another review saying the same thing, so I guess I didn't take heed to the warning. The roti also seemed kind of old, which disappointed me because I love me some roti!!! Overall, I would definitely order from here again for the platters, they were quite large and everything was tasty, but would probably stay away from the patties and the roti. We ordered a small jerk chicken, coco bread, and chicken patty. The jerk platter was super small and did not come with platains. The jerk sauce was this terrible bottle sauce, not even like walkerwood. It was super spicy, which was fine by me but they should let people know beforehand. There was not scotch bonnet taste, just spicy. It was terrible. They should be ashamed to call themselves jamaican. The chicken patty was awful. I love patties but this had no flavor. Utterly Disappointed! I decided to give this place a shot after searching "best Caribbean food in PG" and I will say that I am truly disappointed! The oxtails weren't tender nor were they flavorful and the rice tasted burnt.
