The chicken that they served me seemed old and had a funny taste to it. The thigh which is usually the softer and tenderest part of the chicken was hard. I was so impressed and in this day and time when food is so costly there is enough food to share on one plate. We ordered two oxtails plates and they were spot on for me. You can tell their items are cooked with love and true Caribbean know how. Peas & rice never mushy. The curry isn't just all heat & salt. There's actual flavor of herbs and spices. The food is already prepared and kept in warmers. It still was hot temperature wise. They have a full bar, but there was no bartender on Friday night. So you could only get basic drinks. The food here (this is the second location) is hit or miss. Sometimes the patties are good and other times they aren't. Depending on your server you can get a very lean portion or a good portion. In addition sometimes the rice isn't good or some entrees don't taste as great as I remember. Finding Caribbean Hotpot Grill was for me one of life's Happy Accidents. I was driving around looking for another establishment and saw Hotpot Grill tucked away in a Plaza. Loving Jamaican food, I thought I would give it a try. I had the oxtail dinner with a soda to go. The food was not only delicious, the oxtails, fall off the bone tender, but the portions were generous. Not a couple of bones and little tails pieces, but generous. I've since gone back several times for the same, and each time has been exactly the same, truly delicious with generous portions. If you love Jamaican food, and have been looking for a place to go or order out from, this is it. I plan to try the ackee and salt fish on my next visit, and will of course, leave a review.
