I ordered the salmon fried rice, oxtails and the jerk chicken egg rolls. My husband ordered the curry goat with rice and peas. We both shared some candied yams and a side of plantain. We ordered a variety to get a good feel. Turns out we were both satisfied with everything. The food is tasty and well seasoned. If you're looking for a place to kick it with some friends this is a cool weekend spot. My brother wanted to exit, we stood and was heading to the front, and in passing the isle the guy who sat us, was returning to us (I guess), I asked would it be better if we sat at the bar. He was working the bar and trying to attend to us at once, so that's when we notice how short of staff this place was. He was very kind and determine to cater to guest. we sat at the bar and finally got cups of water to sip, and placed our orders after being their for over half an hour. We completed our diners and was waiting for the check. Again a couple who sat at the bar next to us, collected their ticket before us, while we were past ready to go; and depart from here. It was a bit overwhelming. Will I return? I already have, because I told a friend about this spot and She love it, cleaned her entire plate. I will return, but I'm not in a rush. The food overall was good I had the oxtail with rice & peas and candied yams. The oxtail was a little on the fattier side, and the yams were a bit too sweet for my taste, but the flavors were still solid you could tell it was seasoned and's marinaded right. My friends ordered the jerk lamb chop and curry goat, and both were excellent, flavorful, and full of that authentic island spice. As someone who's had a lot of experience with island foods and flavor. I'd say this is the closest thing in Houston to the real taste. So I tried to come here before and they weren't open. This was when it was Presidents' Day. They have drastically changed since then aesthetically. It's now a large outdoor patio and I never saw the inside prior to yesterday but it's sleek inside. They have a bar and a very nice sized dining room. The beef Pattie with the jerk sauce on the side was so good. I had the egg roll trio. Which was jerk chicken,oxtail and jerk salmon. The salmon was a little dry but the other two were pretty good. One of my guests got the jerk wings and they were also really, really good, with the sides just as tasty. The drinks were absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with the food. Caribbean Jerk Palace had been on my list of places to try since I first saw them open last year, and of course they've been on social media. They had a lovely display and backdrop decorated for Valentines, but unfortunately I couldn't really take advantage of it due to its location. It was right near the front door and quite a few people were coming in, so that created some crowding. But definitely nice to look at. We were seated pretty quickly since we had reservations, and not far from the dj which was cool. There were some GREAT songs playing, so guests had a few sing-along moments lol. Food wise we both ordered the red snapper, one fried & the other grilled. Each plate came with rice n peas, plantains and one side; so we also got the Mac n cheese + greens. There was an option for a couple's combo dinner special for $130, but we didn't opt for that. But let me tell you, those greens and Mac n cheese were FIRE. Those two alone could've been my meal. The Mac and cheese was flavorful and cheesy- perfect combination of everything they goes into making homemade Mac and cheese. There greens were well seasoned tasting like somebody 's mama cooked them! I was pleasantly surprised that the rice n peas were good, my husband is Jamaican and does catering- so I'm a bit snobbish when it comes to Jamaican food. It looks like they added a nice oxtail/brown gravy on top, so that made it flavorful. Unfortunately the fish wasn't so great. Food here is consistently excellent . I've done takeout before and always come back for the flavor. This time we dined in, and the food didn't disappoint. But the bill did. A 20% service charge showed up, and when we asked, we were told flat-out it's not a tip. Okay... so what is it? No one could give us a straight answer, and that matters....if that charge isn't going to the staff who served us, it shouldn't be on the bill at all, and I won't be back if that's the case. If you're going to add a mandatory charge like that, tell people exactly what it covers and where it goes, right on the menu or the receipt. We paid it without complaint, but we shouldn't have had to guess whether we were expected to tip on top of it. Great food, frustratingly vague billing. I ordered the Salmon Fried Rice and my girl ordered the Curry Goat. Both entrees were amazing!!! Seasoned to perfection and flavorful. The sides didn't disappoint either. We got the Yams, Rice & Peas, Plantains and all were really good. Pro tip - order the Festival and dip the bread in the Yam juice for an elite flavor combination. (She looked like a Wakandan warrior so pretty) For starters, we had the jerk salmon eggrolls. LORT HAVE MERCY they were excellent! 10/10! Not fishy and the dips served with them were great as well. I also had the curry shrimp with macaroni and cheese and my wife had the salmon fried rice. The Mac and cheese was BOMB. The rest was ok. The salmon fried rice was missing more flavor. I was looking for some real authentic Jamaican restaurant and was told about Caribbean Jerk Palace and we decided to take a trip down to its location in 3rd ward. Ample parking is at the back of the restaurant and across the street at the front. The outside was decorated for Halloween and the music was very festive and lively with a mix of reggae, Afro beats and hip hop. I found it to be a little too loud but luckily we brought headphones for our toddler because the songs aren't filtered so I guess it's more for older crowds. We chose to be seated outside because inside was too cold for us. We got our server very quickly that helped us with our drinks, we all got the pineapple ginger drink and I asked for a shot of rum in mine which made it even better (it's perfect without too). We got the combo jerk egg rolls with six to share for our table, oxtail, chicken and salmon, these were so delicious and the dipping sauces were perfect. We ordered the oxtails which to us had too much fat but it was tender and well seasoned, felt like it could have been rendered down to get the fat off. The Rasta pasta was a little salty. We also had the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection and sooo good. The curried goat was seasoned perfectly, could have been cooked ten more minutes I think but it was so flavorful. This place was a complete disappointment from start to finish. The prices are way too high for the quality of food and service you get. The jerk chicken was dry, lacked flavor, and definitely wasn't worth what they charge. I expected authentic, juicy jerk chicken, but instead it was overcooked and underwhelming. The sides didn't make up for it either. Overall, the food was just mediocre. The drinks from the bar were another letdown. They're overpriced, barely taste like they have any alcohol in them, and are definitely not worth the money. If you're charging premium prices, customers should at least get a well-made cocktail. The customer service was just as disappointing as the food. The staff seemed unfriendly and uninterested in helping, and management wasn't much better. Instead of making customers feel welcome, they came across as dismissive and unprofessional. For the amount of money you'll spend here, there are plenty of better Caribbean restaurants that actually serve flavorful food and treat their customers with respect. The vibe in the place was amazing and so was the decor. I have eating Caribbean cuisine before and always enjoyed it. We also got the jerk chicken and the curry goat, and it was interesting because the jerk chicken originally came out with no sort of jerk sauce or anything on top of it. It was literally just chicken... And then we eventually asked for some jerk sauce on the side and that was the only reason it tasted remotely like jerk chicken, though the chicken was cooked really nicely. The curry goat that I got was also again to me just not the most authentic tasting. It wasn't bad, but I feel like there was a little missing from the flavor compared to what I've had in the past. However the mac & cheese is definitely a recommended menu item and for good reason because it was really cheesy and really good. The drinks were also good as well. Now to the food: I ordered the jerk chicken fried rice, and he got the brown stew red snapper. I wasn't too hungry, so the rice felt like a solid choice. It was really flavorful and spicy--definitely packed a punch. The only thing I didn't care for was the fried egg on top. The yolk popped when I tried to cut into it, and I'm just not into eggs like that. But I pushed it aside and enjoyed the rest of the dish. As for the snapper--he loved it. He's been to Jamaica multiple times and always orders brown stew fish. He said this one actually tasted better than what he's had in Jamaica. He practically cleared the plate!
