We stumbled upon JJ Fish and Chicken during a bike ride and were pleasantly surprised. The space is pretty large for a fast-food spot, and they were kind enough to let us bring our bikes inside since there was nowhere to lock them up outside. Inside, there are a few large, square tables, and ordering is easy either at the counter or via a kiosk. We ordered the 12-piece leg and thigh chicken (the menu said 5 legs and 5 thighs... because math is hard ) with lemon pepper and Cajun seasoning. It came with fries that had a seasoning on them as well. The chicken was served in a big aluminum tray, and the seasonings were dry powders rather than sauces. Fresh made to order whole wings. Visited this restaurant after 5pm on a Friday was not busy at all the bathrooms were clean and smelled nice which is always a good sign in my opinion. 10-15 minute wait for food but didn't mind because my wings were fried fresh hot and delicious! I've never experience such lack luster in a restaurant in Houston until I came here. I asked for no lemon pepper seasoning and yet they still added it on my entire order. The cooks in her patiently awaited for me to get my order. I knew I wanted some catfish and I couldn't leave here without trying their famous wings since they are popular on TikTok for their wings. If these wings were a bit meatier, they would be fire The "catfish" wasn't catfish. The number seven is listed as fillet fish with wings and I asked the lady was the fillet catfish and she said yes. This is far from catfish. The breading was good, but it literally peeled off of the fish turned me off. The fries were basic bag fries, which I ate with ketchup. I did ask for hot sauce, which it was supposed to come with the sauce on the side, but there was nothing but ketchup in my bed. It also comes with a drink/canned soda. I ordered the 2pc fried catfish dinner and the 3 wing dinner the fish and chicken not seasoned Frenchy's is better than the food I tasted from here. I then ordered some hot sauce which was $2/$3 which for that price I'm thinking it home made hot sauce but it tasted like Louisiana hot sauce. This was my first time visiting this establishment. The place was fairly crowded and is located in a sketchy area. however, the food was made to order. the staff was friendly and the cashier was helpful with it being my first time. The french fries were really good and well seasoned even after m driving home 20+ minutes to eat them. They were still warm and very flavorful however I feel that if I would've eaten them at the restaurant, I would've enjoyed them more. The chicken was crunchy well seasoned, the lemon pepper was not overpowering. The mild sauce was a great touch of added flavor. The fish was really well seasoned, the shrimp was also crunchy and a tad bit over seasoned. If that's a thing. Overall, I would return in order more chicken and fries more fish and more shrimp and I will try the Italian beef for the next time and the pizza puff if I remember. read more

This is usually because the styrofoam container that is used for delivery creates excessive moisture which makes the container very Moist & Wet, which in turns Makes the Food appears as if it was Dipped in Water! Simple Fix: Do what they do at other restaurants and cut out a Piece of Styrofoam on Top so as to Vent the Moist Air! Someone needs to Create Proper Packaging container that Vents Moisture and keeps food warm and Crispy! read more

Don't waste your time or money.... This fish was uneatable and crumbled every time I tried to pick it up so I just threw it away. The wings were okay. Also, the condiments eg. Tartar sauce is just a packet and not made fresh. They serve canned and bottled drinks and also suggest a 15 to 20 percent tip for counter service. My fish was not fishing. Meaning I can almost bet it wasn't catfish at all. Very translucent looking fish (not flaky at all how catfish should be) When I picked it up the entire better around the fish slid completely off. Tried this for the first time today, and I must say I'm impressed. The chicken is fried to perfection, the fries have a good chew. I also got the pizza puffs, also insane. Everything was sprinkled with their special lemon pepper blend. (Order some on the side) and the mild sauce was very... mild I guess. The frozen lemonade is reminiscent of Popeyes' , very sweet and tangy but delicious. And I also grabbed some of the banana pudding and that was a delight to eat.
