I enjoyed every bite. As a Hispanic person, I know white rice and black beans are always a great combination, and these tasted very fresh. My little brother ordered the seafood rice, and being who I am, I had to steal a bite. Everything on that plate hit the mark. The rice wasn't soggy and blended perfectly with the seafood. Most seafood rice dishes are overwhelmed by white wine or saffron, but this one was perfectly balanced. Every protein was naturally enhanced--succulent lobster, juicy shrimp, delicious mussels, fish, and calamari. Every bite felt like heaven; definitely a 1000/10. The service was good, though that may have been because we arrived late and there were few customers. They were very attentive, though an older lady seemed a bit confused and gave my brother a strange look when we asked if the sandwich bread was toasted on a flat top or a press. It might have just been because it was late and she was tired, but it did bother me slightly. The ambiance was nice, and the music--some old-school jams on the radio--paired perfectly with the meal. It's probably the only place in the city of Miami you can get a cafe con leche, tostada, eggs, breakfast meat, fries, AND pancakes for like $11.99. The pancakes I lowkey never get to finish in the restaurant (or sometimes even start) because they're big and the rest of the breakfast is a lot, but it's a nice option especially if you come with more people and have some get pancakes and some not (cheaper anyway) and share the pancakes. The ladies here are attentive and I've never had bad service, and I get water refilled a billion times sometimes on a hot Miami morning. Oh, the breakfast is all day, though it's a dollar or two more after breakfast hours, though idk if the $11.99 is the breakfast price or the after breakfast hour price. We got there,only ones there. . . The waitress rushed us to order. We place order which was two breakfast and 3 croquettes with a Sprite and the normal cafe con leche that comes with the breakfast. Cops got there, ordered,got their food first and after a quick complaint from me she decided to bring us bread to munch on while we waited. 2 seconds after the bread, came the food. With no salt on eggs, ham burnt and no cafe con leche. I went to drink my Sprite and she had brought 3 cups with water instead of 2 with water and one with ice. I wanted to go somewhere to eat croquetas that wasn't a bakery and had a sit down eatery. Trust me that's not an obvious. Whether it's a Cuban restaurant without croquetas or it's a bakery, if its not for the famous spots that had no interest in today. This place is wonderful. It's a diner style interior. Friendly and super fast service! The food was great, only disappointment was that the croquetas are served cold, I like mine warm. But everything else was excellent and plenty! My family has been coming to this location for 30 years back when it was Islas Canarias. We stopped by tonight for a quick meal and it did not disappoint. No frills, but good Cuban cooking. The frijoles negros are so flavorful. My dad had a great chicken dish with vegetables. Flan was delicious. My mom says it's the best chicken soup she's had in Miami in a long time. They gave me Materva soda. There I had it! A saucy platter with boliche con moro y plátanos! I love saucy food! For starters, they recommended their croquetas de jamon. If I ate any more of those, I would've never finished my meal. That was one of the most satisfying lunches I've ever eaten. There are lots of tables. Music played and soccer was on TV while dining. I treated my teenage son and his driving instructor to lunch here to celebrate my son's passing his practical road driving test. We all enjoyed the dishes we ordered: My son had the fried beef with brown rice and black beans as well as fried ripe plantains and a vanilla shake. His driving instructor had bass fish in a garlic butter sauce, fried yuca, mashed potatoes and a coffee. I had the grilled whole red snapper with salad and French fries plus a fresh passion fruit juice. We also had flan with whipped cream for dessert. All the food and beverages were incredibly delicious! Our waitress was Carolina from Columbia and she provided us with excellent, friendly, helpful, quick and attentive service! Thanks! We will definitely return both to enjoy the items we already tried and liked as well as other items on the menu that we want to try during future visits. I came back here with my son's driving instructor who is now giving me refresher driving lessons since I had not driven in almost 2 decades. She had the grilled salmon fillet with salad and mashed potatoes. I had the grilled whole red snapper with salad and mashed potatoes. We shared an avocado salad. We each had fresh passion fruit juice and cappuccino plus we shared a flan with whipped cream for dessert. I ordered 3X from this place as I was visiting with a friend in Little Havana area on Uber Eats. The food was pretty good, except being a delivery type meal the presentation was lacking? The Congri with the red beans was off, as they make it with Chorizo so it gives it a sour taste? I've never seen a Congri with Chorizo added in the mix? It should be made exactly as the black bean one? I didn't really like it at all..The 1st meal I ordered was a breaded chicken breast steak..It was amazing, but again the red beans and rice side was not good at all? The sweet plantains were to die for, as they make these in Miami sooooo good. As it is almost like a specialty over there! Then the second meal I ordered was a Pan con Lechon/Roast Pork sandwich? This was infused with their Mojo seasoning, but I really thought it tasted strong? Weird.. and the raw onions you usually top the pork with were absent? Instead there were little tiny diced sautéed onions mixed in? Weird again..I didn't like it at all, though I did eat it cos I was hungry? I also ordered 2 ham croquettes and they were made in house, (which is how I prefer them) they were not as hot as fresh? But they were really good! The 3rd meal was a thin breaded steak with was huge, and cut in half? But it was good and this time I got the black beans and white rice with it. The black beans are just as great as you would expect them to be, Wow! And also the sweet plantains delicious as always..you can't get those wrong in Miami? This Cuban place is consistent. If you want Cuban breakfast...you get Cuban breakfast. Eggs, grits, choice of bacon, turkey or ham, toast, and coffee. If you want lunch or dinner they have lunch specials to fulfill that request. They are consist. Now, on to what we like to eat from here. I hope this helps in giving you ideas on what you should eat, and then if you can't decide on what thing that gives you a reason to go back another time. Let's start with breakfast...pan con tortilla. The pan con tortilla comes with protein, onions, and potatoes. I usually ask them to add turkey and no potatoes on Cuban. You can usually eat half for breakfast and the other half for a mid-morning snack, or you can share them with your sister. The human usually has a pan con plain tortilla. He doesn't share and he doesn't have any for later. It is a one sitting meal. On our most recent visit, today, to be exact the order looked like this. Grilled chicken breast, rice, beans and fried plantains, It was delicious. The human had a pan con tortilla. Like I mentioned earlier he eats it all in one sitting. My dad and sister had a palomilla with arroz, frijoles and tostones. There were no left overs. Will we go here again? Yes Do we eat here often? Yes Oh, I forgot to tell you about Karina. She is one of the ladies that works there and she is great. She is always very friendly and remembers us by name. She also makes a really great cafecito! Gets it right every time. Servers are friendly and the place is clean, the selection of Latin food is vast. But the parking is challenging since it's located at small shopping center who share the same spaces. I ordered Filet of Dorado which came out good and tasted, La Crema de Malanga which is one of my favorite things in the entire world, and the menu said to be "their specialty" was just ok, it seems like they made a large bowl of it and let it stand for a while... Bumped into this little spot by accident while trying to find some Cuban coffee before work. Pulled up my yelp and give this little spot a try and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Not only did I get coffee I decided to have a quick Cuban breakfast as well. Everything came out just right, eggs were nice and runny, potatoes full of flavor and the ham was thick cut and tender. As I ate my meal I dunked my toast into my cafe con leche which was perfect. If I'm ever in this area you better believe I'll be coming here before I go to a Denny's or IHOP. If you don't speak Spanish you may have a very hard time ordering your meal. It's a shame that a place with great flavorful food has been run down by the customer service of this establishment. Mainly people taking in the order over the phones. This restaurant was our go to delivery for my job, since it was known as Islas Canarias. At first this place was amazing, and now we avoid it like the plague. We would order not only for ourselves but also our clients, but not anymore. We kept on giving this place a chance time and time again, because as mentioned the food and pricing is great, but here are SOME of the incidents that left a sour feeling. Incident #1: We ordered a chicken Cesar salad for a client. She wanted something quick and light to eat since her appointment with us was long (she was at our place for a total of 3ish hours, no I'm not exaggerating). We ordered the meal at 12, it came into our job at 4ish... Yes you read that right, a SALAD was delivered 4 hours later way past the client left, after countless calls (from our end) was made inquiring about the food. Did they pick the lettuce from the redlands or what? Incident #2: Various orders started coming in incorrectly. We would order certain sides that wouldn't be included in the order. The attendants response? You didn't tell me, or I didn't understand you. Incident #3: & last time we 'ordered' from here. My coworker (a native Spanish speaker) was not understood by the lady attending the phone. She had to repeat the order(s) over and over again... So as we are waiting, starving, and counting down the minutes for our food to get here (lady said 45 - 60 minutes)... So we call after and hour(ish) of waiting just to get the excuse of 'I tried calling you to let you know that we can't find your address'. (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) As mentioned we have been ordering from this place countless amount of times, yet the lady couldn't find our address on the computer... (?!?!?) How can you not find a place that you've been at before? And might I add again that we find out about this mishap after WE called to check up on the food. We had family over from Venezuela in the mood for some good Cuban food. I like trying out new places and had driven by here many times but never stopped, I am glad we did!! The service was excellent, very helpful helping us pick out from the menu and setting up a nice to go meal for one of our friends who could not make it. Had the palomilla steak very soft and generous portion, well cooked and accompanied by some wonderful white rice and beans!
