This Cafeteria style meets open market and bakery establishment sells everything from fresh fruits to hot cuban food, to juices, desserts, and coffee. The market is bustling and the aunties who work there are loud. In a good way. On our two trips here, we got Cuban oxtails, rice and beans, and Maduros, which I think might be some of the best in Miami. There are a wide variety of people who patronize this place for breakfast lunch and dinner, and it does behoove you to know a little Spanish as to not hold up the line. My review is only based on breakfast. They have a ton of other different kind of food that looks delicious. We spent $12 and got 3 scrambled eggs, fries, a toast, 2 coffees and one orange juice. For the price and all the food we got, it was not bad. Been here a least 10-15 times as I live nearby and food was cheap but the food quality has gone down, last 3 times the yuca is hard and undercooked, I ordered the black beans and they taste funny/old? Service is close to none. They do not speak a single word of English or they have no desire to. I couldn't order anything because they couldn't understand what I wanted or how much of it. It was very very difficult however if you can communicate with them the food here are authentic and plenty of options. The food does look kind of old so eat at your own risk. With my broken Spanish I ordered a large combo consisting of salmon, cassava and pork paella and another of pork ribs, black beans rice and plantain. The plantain was delicious. Paella and salmon was kinda dry. I enjoyed the mashed cassava but it has onions mixed into it and I don't like onions so I picked at it. I also ordered a side of lechon (fried pork with skin) it was not crispy but it did have a good amount of meat with the skin & fat Next we ordered some drinks and chose some juice. I somehow googled sugarcane juice and got it along with "guanabana" which mean soursop juice. The Guanabana juice was good, milky and somewhat thick and there's some ice in there altho it's hard to see. The sugar cane juice was horrible so we'll never order that there again. It tasted very much like water down sugarcane juice with a lot of sugar. Gross. On the bright side they have many tropical fruits and yummy desserts. There was mango, pineapple, papaya, fresh young coconut, sugar apple (both green and purple) Chico sapodilla, guava among others. Those were awesome and earn them a star. This is our go to place to get quick bite while in Miami, away from the crazy pricy restaurants for the IG and tourist crowd. This place is split into 3 sections, bakery, deli, and fruit bar. From the deli side, you could order items by itself or in a combo style (rice and banana). The earlier you get here, the fresher the food. Cheap Cuban food at a great price! My local friend took me here for our first Cuban meal. We came for a late lunch on Wed around 3, and it wasn't crowded at all. It's a small grocery store that has a huge hot food food selection as well, and it looked like there were multiple locations on Google Maps as well. It was a bit overwhelming, since I had no idea what was what and most of the workers didn't speak any English, but I managed to order a vaca frita (fried beef) plate with purple rice and plantains on the side. The portions were pretty good for the $6.42 I paid for it! My friend ordered the ropa vieja (stewed beef in tomato sauce) with yellow rice and plantains. They have some indoor seating as well as covered outdoor seating. We chose to sit outdoors since it was a nice day out and dug into the food. I'm not really sure why I didn't come here on my last trip. And I almost skipped them again on this trip. We weren't really hungry and we're going to take a couple of Cuban sandwiches to go and eat them later, but those plans changed once I walked in this place. You get hit with a tropical aroma of fresh fruit, immediately had me craving for a jugo. I walked around to order our Cuban sandwiches but then I saw a cafeteria style room full of food. They had seafood paella, congri arroz, Ropa vieja lechon, maduro Fritos and the list goes on. I still ended up taking a media noche sandwich but we ended up ordering Arroz congri, Ropa vieja and maduro Fritos. It all tasted phenomenal. We also ordered Jugos. I of course ordered their agua de coco and my wife ordered a jugo de guayaba. Both also tasted very fresh and were so addicting. This place was truly phenomenal. What a random but fun place to go if you wanna go have a real Cuban cuisine experience but want to avoid parking problems on Calle ocho at Little Havana! It's cafeteria style and requires Spanish speaking but it's more fun if you can't speak and have to gesture your way to the food. They have all the typical Cuban eats ranging from imperial rice, tostanos, pollo etc. It's basically Café Versailles only cheaper and minus the frills and nicer setting. Btw, the juices were are really good and cheap. Highly recommend if you want to go somewhere for good cheap authentic juices. The fruits are usually tropical and local, so it's super authentic. We got the chicken stew with corn and carrots and potatoes, shrimp, imperial rice, and stewed yucca. you can't go wrong here with whatever you get- I highly recommend anything that's more stewy and more gravy b/c things that sit out a little longer tend to get a little dry. This is a huge establishment and there's parking behind the building for free. We paid 20$ for 2 giant boxes of food, like they shoveled the rice into the boxes. Very generous portions that will super fun to split among a group of friends who want to sample Cuban food for diversity. juices- highly recommend the mix fruit juice- you can order whatever combination that you want and try out fun combinations that otherwise would cost you 7$ at bougie Miami fruit juice places. I recommend the Mamey juice if you want something sugary and sweet but natural and different from any other juice out there. They speak Spanish here, so I would recommend just be ready to gesture and try out stuff, but nothing will be over 10$ if you stick to chicken and beef and if you get shrimp, you'll pay about 15$ but still monstrous proportions. read more

I am shocked to see anything less than 4.5 star review from this place. The aesthetics of the glass cases alone is enough for me to walk through and still give it 5 stars. I blame Scotty C. (otherwise known as Scooter in the Yelp world) for not going that extra Yelping mile for pork perfection! Upon walking in, I was blown away at the amount of offerings they have here. Many of the traditional Cuban delicacies I am used to and even more that I have never seen before. Fortunately for me, all of my friends in attendance are avid Spanish speakers. Otherwise I would not have been able to navigate very well. Because this was our last day after multiple on South Beach, we took advantage of our later flight time to do a culinary hop through Miami. We were here for one thing and one thing alone... chicharrones. These were unlike any chicharrones I had ever had before. As opposed to being "pork skins" like we have in Alabama. These were real pieces of pork and pork fat seasoned and deep fried to absolute delicious levels. Since we had already eaten one course of this tour and the final leg was full of dishes... I could only eat so much of the order that was placed. And looking I my pictures, this is one of the biggest regrets of my life. I really wish I could taste this just one more time! Those are not chicharrones. These are chicharrones. If you're wondering what they would taste like - imagine taking pork fat, giving it a thin, crispy edge, dipping it in some seasoning and placing it in your mouth. It's truly glorious. The only bad thing is that it feels like if you were to eat more than five in one sitting, you would directly need to drive to the ER before the heart attack sits in. But make no mistake, that is the ONLY negative. We also tried the Cuban tamale with sweet corn and ham, which was also awesome, but the chicharrones will forever be in my dreams. read more

I was shocked to learn after all this time I hadn't reviewed this place after coming here over a year now. For starters, this is the greatest, "ultimate" cafeteria style place. From the moment you walk in you get overwhelmed. They have a full pastry and juice bar to check out before you even make it to the main dishes. Both pastries (pasteles, croquetas, tequeños, etc) and juices are as good as you'd expect from a place called "palace of the juices". What really makes this place stand out is it's wide selection of main courses.... seafood, meats, rices, pastas... they literally have everything. My mom and I love tamal en hoja. My grandmother use to make it and we miss her cooking. We heard theirs was pretty good so we gave it a try. I must say they're very tasty! Comes close to my grandmas. Their chicharrones are also very tasty and big portions! Their food is good and it's pretty inexpensive. The blaring sideshow lettering and striped technicolor awning are more fitting for a freak show circus that just rolled into town, than the marvelous, home-cooking flavors and comfort food waiting inside. El Palacio de los Jugos is set up school cafeteria style for quick select, pay and go efficiency. You could choose to dine in on its unforgiving metal chairs and tables, but it's meant for you to take the containers with giant portions and go. They take their carbs seriously and you will not only get an enormous pile of porky moros (vegans beware) when you order a completa, you will get to choose another side. For me, usually it's the boiled yuca with mojo because the veggie selection seems straight out of a frozen food bag, much to my cardiologist's chagrin. My go to mains are the lechon, the roast chicken, the stewed masitas pork chunks with potatoes and the grilled chicken breast when I'm leaning toward leaner. On a naughty day, I beeline for the deep fried corner and select a strip of chicharrón and ask to chop it up for snacking on the way home. The Gallito bakery connected through a side door also offers pastries and desserts, and is a crowd favorite. I feel very fortunate to live near this comfort food palace, especially because it has solved the conundrum of what to serve during both impromptu and planned get togethers. I'm also happy to exert some self control from time to time and have plenty of leftovers for workday lunches. El Palacio de los Jugos continues to deliver value to families from all walks of life.
