So I'm going to start with the negative. If you call the phone number, no one will answer but you will very shortly after get a text message with the menu and a "how can I help you". Seemed super awesome at first right..... yes for the first 5 minutes. After that it become a very tedious and annoying process of 30 min of back and forth texting that could easily be handled in a 5 minute phone conversation. This method of ordering is not the best way to conduct business in my opinion. Then if/when you go to the location, there is only a door that is closed with a window on top. It instructs you not to bang, to text, and to have a mask on. Okayyyyy. There's also a chalkboard menu outside the door. Half the things on the menu, once texted to ordered, you will be told is unavailable. So what's the point of the menu. Also, you get no pricing. Even if you ask unless you press for the price and ask multiple times, you will not get it. So your total will be a surprise when you go to pay...and trust it will likely be a surprise with how expensive it is. When you finally get a text that your food is ready, your card will be taken from you, your food bag shoved at you, and very little words if any exchanged. But your food bags will be heavy. NOW THE FOOD. As a Jamaican myself, the food was delicious. The portions are ginormous, so think about sharing. We ordered the stew snapper and jerk salmon. Each comes with rice and peas (which is 3/4 of the container), steamed veg, and plantain. A large Mac and cheese will be the entire container. So unless you need to feed 3-4, don't get a large. The rice and peas is good. Flavorful and clearly done with coconut and pimento seeds... how it should be. The jerk salmon looked burnt and dry but surprisingly was not in the least. The veg was delicious and I could eat a side of that alone. The macaroni and cheese was perfectly cheesy and seasoned. The food itself might be why people put up with the terrible ordering system and lack luster customer service. read more

Long Island New York August 2024, while honeymooning at one of the hotels for the Labor Day weekend. I was searching for vegan food. This restaurant popped up. So, I decided to give it a try. My first impression to my husband was that I did not want to go in. However, he persuaded me. We both ordered vegan meals. I purchased the vegan curry chicken chunks with rice and peas. My dish had a lot of curry and spicy. I wished that I would have said to use less curry/spice for my dish. My husband ordered the vegan ginger chicken. They were out of fired dumplings. Some places just don't want you to give them your money. I specifically drove over 30 minutes to come here because they advertise having lots of vegan options. I tried to call ahead but they don't pick up the business phone. When you arrive at the restaurant, which is located in a strip mall, you will see a sign telling you to text your order to a different number. The number given on the sign is the wrong number, so after waiting for another 5 minutes I called again and they texted me from the correct number. Come to find out they are out of all vegan options!! Super disappointing since they specifically market themselves to vegans. From reading the reviews I can see that I'm not the only person who has been stymied by their ridiculous ordering system. I can understand not allowing dine-in or even ordering in-person due to COVID, but in these days of the internet, UberEats, DoorDash, etc. there's no reason to do all your business by text. Excellent food. I've patronized this establishment several times over several years. I've been to Jamaica, 7 times and walked the streets of Negril and all around Montego Bay and beyond, eating the food prepared by the locals. Real Ital and Jamaican cuisine is one of my favorite ethnic food categories. The food here is authentic and very very good. It would be nice if they adhere to hours posted, and we're open more often. They have a strange way of doing business, so before you get your hopes up, call first to ensure they'll be open. I really feel this place, At this location , is missing out on opportunity, but it's their business... Was staying at Kalahari Waterpark nearby and wanted a change from the largely stock American fare available at the resort. I'm glad I found this place nearby. Recommend the oxtail and the jerk salmon - price is very reasonable for the portion sizes provided (has a lot of rice/peas and some plantains but its all flavored with the meat). Ordering was easy - mainly had to text what you wanted to the phone number. Be aware though, that the menu options online have changed and has shrunk to a more consolidated number of selections. I called the business number on Yelp and recieved a text on my phone that I should text in my order. This threw me off as I was driving and calling off Yelp, and did not have a menu readily available. Frustratingly, I had to pull over and search online for a menu before placing my order via text. When I got to the restaurant, there was no door--just an unattended window with instructions "not to knock." I texted that I was there. After some more questions via text, I recieved a call due to more questions about my order. When my order was ready, the next surprise was the price. About $60.00 for an order of Lo Mein, medium jerk chicken and large oxtail. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to this price. According to the menu I saw omline, I had been expecting to pay about $40.00. On top of the price-shock, options seemed limited as the restaurant had no sauce to go with the jerk chicken and had no other option of rice side except rice with beans. The food itself seemed very well portioned as my takeout bag was very heavy, but when I got home I saw the orders were very heavy on the rice. From my order, the Lo Mein was probably the best followed by the oxtail. The jerk chicken was dry but very strongly flavored. Overall, everything was a bit too salty, over-priced, and the experience was not very customer friendly. Not sure I would go back. Three stars is appropriate. This is our third visit to this hidden gem around the Great Wolf Lodge Resort. Each time it just keeps getting better. We knew better this time to call before to ask what was still available than actually heading to their actual take out location. The man who answered the phone was very nice in explaining to me wat they have on the menu. You can find their updated menu on Facebook and Instagram. Apparently I only went to their website and found their outdated menu. He kindly sent me their menu via text. I was a little disappointed that they were out of their goat curry that was on their current menu and their free beef patties which were stated on yelp. Any how... Here what's for lunch: a medium curry chicken and large jerk chicken platter both comes with rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. Chicken curry was very flavorful with just enough of the Caribbean kick. Jerk chicken was marinated in perfection and moist and flavorful. Both dishes pairing with their rice and peas, cabbages and plantains in marriage. It was the best Caribbean food I have had. Even better than many ones I have tried in New York. If this place was in city, I would become one of their regulars. As we were waiting for our food in their service area with food steamer behind the counter found their food that was available. Very much like any local take out restaurants ready to serve style. Woman behind the counter were some what motionless but very helpful. A very firm personality but yet courteous in her personality woman helped in preparing my food ready. I asked her if the guy who answered the8 phone was there in premise. She answered yes. He was no the back. Assuming he was the cook in the back, he peak out of the window under the curtain and said hi. He showed his face with a very big smile. I immediately felt acknowledged as for a person in appreciation of his food. We both exchanged or thank yous. As we were leaving, the woman offered us an order of their chicken lo mein for our kids. Indeed very flavorful chicken lo mein the one dish that I would least have ordered did not disappoint. I find everything to be very authentic Jamaican style flavoring which we love. Food was delicious with big portions and service was fast and friendly. If I wish them to be in the city, I wouldn't have to only get when I am traveling only went back again the next day to buy another large order of their jerk chicken to enjoy back home. Food was amazing. We got the curry chicken and dhal puri. My major complaint is the method of ordering, which is only done by texting. Weird and not efficient. We spent so much time going back and forth about what was available and not available. Also, they said they were out of plantain, but when my husband arrived to pick up our food, he saw a huge plate of plantain there. They have a small little store, but could easily be run like any other takeout spot. Let people come in and order their food or call in and have a conversation. Driving back from a hectic poconos trip doing a lot of activities, Carribean spices was like an oasis in a desert. We were a party of 20. The dishes were out of the world.
