Advertising vegan food but they're out of everything vegan...
    Cathy Z.

Some places just don't want you to give them your money. I specifically drove over 30 minutes to come here because they advertise having lots of vegan options. I tried to call ahead but they don't pick up the business phone. When you arrive at the restaurant, which is located in a strip mall, you will see a sign telling you to text your order to a different number. The number given on the sign is the wrong number, so after waiting for another 5 minutes I called again and they texted me from the correct number. Come to find out they are out of all vegan options!! Super disappointing since they specifically market themselves to vegans. From reading the reviews I can see that I'm not the only person who has been stymied by their ridiculous ordering system. I can understand not allowing dine-in or even ordering in-person due to COVID, but in these days of the internet, UberEats, DoorDash, etc. there's no reason to do all your business by text. Eating here might work out for you if you don't have dietary restrictions, but I don't know if it's worth the incredibly frustrating ordering process.

Great variety and tasty food, plenty of vegan options, polite service, quick response time. Highly recommend, I wish they were in NY. I crave the vegan curry chicken and roti badly till this day

Complimentary Chicken lo mein by surprised.

This is our third visit to this hidden gem around the Great Wolf Lodge Resort. Each time it just keeps getting better. We knew better this time to call before to ask what was still available than actually heading to their actual take out location. The man who answered the phone was very nice in explaining to me wat they have on the menu. You can find their updated menu on Facebook and Instagram. Apparently I only went to their website and found their outdated menu. He kindly sent me their menu via text. I was a little disappointed that they were out of their goat curry that was on their current menu and their free beef patties which were stated on yelp. Any how... Here what's for lunch: a medium curry chicken and large jerk chicken platter both comes with rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. Chicken curry was very flavorful with just enough of the Caribbean kick. Jerk chicken was marinated in perfection and moist and flavorful. Both dishes pairing with their rice and peas, cabbages and plantains in marriage. It was the best Caribbean food I have had. Even better than many ones I have tried in New York. If this place was in city, I would become one of their regulars. As we were waiting for our food in their service area with food steamer behind the counter found their food that was available. Very much like any local take out restaurants ready to serve style. Woman behind the counter were some what motionless but very helpful. A very firm personality but yet courteous in her personality woman helped in preparing my food ready. I asked her if the guy who answered the8 phone was there in premise. She answered yes. He was no the back. Assuming he was the cook in the back, he peak out of the window under the curtain and said hi. He showed his face with a very big smile. I immediately felt acknowledged as for a person in appreciation of his food. We both exchanged or thank yous. As we were leaving, the woman offered us an order of their chicken lo mein for our kids. Indeed very flavorful chicken lo mein the one dish that I would least have ordered did not disappoint. I find everything to be very authentic Jamaican style flavoring which we love. Food was delicious with big portions and service was fast and friendly. If I wish them to be in the city, I wouldn't have to only get when I am traveling only went back again the next day to buy another large order of their jerk chicken to enjoy back home. I would keep this place in mind as it left me a such an impression. If I only wish I have ask what the guy behind the curtains and the woman who serviced us their name to personally thank them by their name. I would go keep going back again. See you guys again.

Their food is mad good! I love how they have vegan options. Make sure you call first to see what options are available & to double check pricing. The website isn't reliable (it has the wrong prices).

But the Red Dot seems to nail every single dish. We started with the multigrain vegan waffle with fresh fruit and loved it! So clean and flavorful, with perfectly ripe fruit. I do think the fruit should have been included, because it would have been a bit plain without it. Next, we had the ancient grains kitchari which was incredible. We loved all the fresh vegetables perfectly cooked, adding a variety of textures and flavors. It is offered as mild, medium, or hot; we got hot, which was great but not overly spicy, and we might request extra spicy next time. Lastly, we got the breakfast paratha wrap filled with their incredible tofu scramble. We were so impressed by how non-greasy it was (both the paratha and the scramble). We are always looking for food that isn't overly salty or oily, which is hard to find, but the Red Dot managed to do everything perfectly. Also major props to their masala chai, made super fresh with your choice of milk. The soy milk was creamy and pleasantly sweet and it didn't even require adding sugar. So rare to find vegan masala chai. The food takes fairly long to come out, but we felt it was worth it because of how delicious everything was; we also appreciated the generous portions. I think we have found one of our new favorite restaurants!

Cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful restaurant. This is the type of establishment that…read morereminds you of the good old days. The customer service is a time capsule of an era where a business strived to make your visit special and memorable with quality food and great service and not by some trend or gimmick. One thing that is not in the past is their skilled ability to provide a safe meal for those who are vegan, gluten free and or dairy free. I've never been to a restaurant that can turnout amazing authentic Italian food made with regular flour while also being able to provide a safe gluten free and or dairy free alternative of the same caliber. They have an efficient system that makes it clear there are people with dietary restrictions at the table and they take it very seriously. With all those great things to say, the food is what is worth writing home about. A gluten free chicken Parmesan that no one would ever guess was gf! A delicious gf df chocolate lava cake to end the meal was such a treat and was delicious. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and attentive, they're a well oiled machine! And it was very nice for the grandson of the original founders to walk around and talk to us, not just a how is everything tonight kind of stop either, he really took the time to make pleasant conversation about the World Cup and ask how our son did at his soccer tournament. They have been around for 56 years and if our visit was anything to go off, they'll be around for another 100 years!

The way they show pictures of "today's specials" on an iPad type device is a nice touch. The meatball app had good flavor as well as the ricotta that came with it. The fiancé had the pear purse which is always a very good. Also the Eggplant Pisa salad that came with my lunch paring was very very good and I would eat it again!!! The bad. The meatball app, although tasty, was only two small meatballs (basically the size of a soup spoon!!) for 15 bucks. So I don't care for the cost compared to the value you get for it. Also I am a snob for chicken parm and this chicken was overcooked and dry. The bread crumbs were soggy and would have been forgiven if the chicken itself wasn't so overcooked and dry!!!! My over all is this. Been to mamas many times before this review and I think they are worth your time (even more so during dinner time!). They do more things right than they ever do it wrong. So I would still recommend going. I just wouldn't recommend it to the New Jersey Chicken parm Facebook page........
