I don't understand the bad rap this dental office gets! I've had amazing experiences with her. She is straightforward which I think is absolutely necessary when it comes to kids and their dental hygiene. My 5 year old was traumatized by a very well known dental office in Camarillo. We gave Dr Nazarian a visit, she was very patient and understanding that my son was scared of the dentist. My 4 year old and 1 year old see her as well. I flat out do NOT understand the horrible negative ratings and lashings at this dentist. My 2 year old son broke his tooth running and tripping like most high active kiddos do and she DOES NOT UPSELL OR DO ANY UNNECESSARY TREATMENTS!!!!! How do I know this? Because I had my sister who lives in Arizona who is a highly regarded DENTIST check Dr.Nazarian's prognosis and also agreed with her choice of treatment. I have been taking my kids to dr Carineh Nazarian for 10 years and have been extremely happy in this office not only with the dr who is super nice and professional but also the staff. I used to take my son who was younger to another popular dental office in Glendale who did not do a good dental work and did not treat my son the proper way. So I was the first person to pin this place on Yelp. It's in a regular looking medical building. Parking is somewhat difficult to manage since there are multiple offices along with a pharmacy - so make sure to show up early or book your appointment during off peak hours or you will be sorry. I think they are open from 8-5pm M/T/Th and 8-3pm on Friday. Upon walking in, I really liked the wall murals. They are beautiful, make it feel like a wonderland, and are in each exam room. There are a few toys for children to play with. They also have a flat screen TV in the waiting room, and smaller ones in the exam rooms. Still looks like they could use some restoration in the office but the murals do a good job of keeping one distracted. The secretary gives you various intake/disclosure forms including one which states that a parent gives permission to strap the child down, but nowhere states that a parent will be informed. (So please go in with your child!) They still use film x-ray so don't expect any fancy-shmancy high tech stuff. The exam chairs look less than 10 years old, but have no sink for your child to spit in when the hygienist walks away! O_o (Still blows my mind.) The dental assistant did her x-rays and cleaning without no additional coaching or reassurance as one would expect at a pediatric dentist office. I basically walked my child through everything when I felt that should have been a standard expectation at this office. We didn't see the dentist until the very end when she took all of 5 seconds to stare at my child's x-rays and peek into her mouth. Her tone sounded somewhat condescending as she walked in the door while saying something to the effect of, "So, you brought her in because she had cavities?" Mind you, she hadn't looked at the x-rays yet. I responded no and told her it was a routine appointment but we were new clients. She then proceeded to state, "Well you know what a cavity looks like." I told her no, yet again (while wanting to remind her that I did not attend dental school which is why I was seeking her services, otherwise she would be of no use to me). She then proceeded to tell me that my four year old needed various fillings and a root canal. Say WHAT?! My daughter eats healthy with minimal sugar so of course this shocked me, although I will admit we don't floss as much as we should. I just couldn't wrap my mind over the fact that about 11 months ago her former dentist had commended her on her strong teeth. Needless to say she went on to stating that she uses an oral sedative on all children, along with Nitrous Oxide and prefers to strap them down. My child had to use the restroom during the debrief with the dentist in which she pointed down the hall and had an assistant give us the key. She must have gone back to her office because she did not come to the front to keep discussing as she had stated she would. This left me in an awkward transition back to her secretary who proceeded to tell me what work needed to be done and how long it would take (her estimate of 1 hour to do 5 cavities and a root canal). (Crazy!) I told her I would call back to schedule and just as I was getting ready to leave she asked if I wanted to sign the billing paperwork for next time. *Jaw dropped* I declined and we were on our merry way. At this point I will be seeking a second opinion and doubt I will be going back. I will also begin having her do daily oil-pulling, which I read about after freaking out BIG time about the supposed cavities. If my intuition is wrong, I will come back and inform the public. read more

Took my 5 yr. Old in for her 1st time and had baby Root Canals. They gave her nitrous and they did sealants before the root canals. The etch got on her tongue and was burning the whole time. The Dr. Had a crap way of talking to me, my daughter and her staff. My daughter went into the dentist saying she likes going just doesn't like the shot to leaving and never wanting to go back bcuz they hurt her. Also b4 they got started they put her in a papoose. I would never have dental work done here again for my kids. And yes they take Gold Coast but not worth it. OUR EXPERIENCE: *Dr. Yelling *Shoving saliva ejector down her throat(gaging her) *holding her mouth closed *was cheap with the anesthetic *very very rough *no compassion with my child *horrible with her assistance *got etch on her tongue burning her the whole time *was rude talking to me the parent *uses the papoose *I told the doctor she needs to be numb more and she told me to let her do her job. That's all this is to her a job. If u work with kids u should have that compassion. *shoved the temp crowns on. My daughter was screaming. It's not fitted so what they r doing is pushing it into the gum cutting it. My daughter is still in pain because it's in her gum causing her to have a hard time eating. read more

I had a great experience at this dentist office. My 9 year old son had to have alot of dental work done and has had some very bad experiences in the past. I was a bit hesitant on taking him here after reading the one review on yelp but there are not many pediatric dentist in ventura county that except gold cost. All the girls in the reception area were helpfull and warm they made me and my son very comfortable. Dr. Nazarian was very patient with my son. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. My son, 2 years old, was referred by clinicas dental because he's 2 & doesn't corporate well. Our first appointment wasn't so bad, they tried getting x rays of his teeth , wasn't happening so the doctor, Carineh, looked in his mouth , said that he needed to be put under anesthesia to get dental work done. 7 crowns to be exact. My stupid self, believing her , thinking she knows what is right for my son. I go along & make the appointment for all of this to get done. Fast forward a couple of weeks. - I paid $1,940 to get everything done. It was hard on me but was doing what I thought was best for my son. Fast forward again not even 2 weeks. (LESS THAN 2 WEEKS LATER!) his crown fell out. The very front one. It fell out on Memorial Day, so I had to wait till the next morning & called as soon as they opened. I got an appt at 10. Great , cool! I go on, they try to do x rays again , not happening with a 2 year old. The assistant was losing her patience with him. We finally go to the bed , the dentist, Carineh, comes in & asks the assistant if she got any x rays. The assistant replied " we tried but he kept moving" her response was "YES OR NO?" First of all, you shouldn't talk to your employees like that. Especially in front of people. She then looks at me , shrugs her shoulders & said "so what do you want me to do about it " me being in complete shock of how rude & unsympathetic she was being about the whole situation I said well can we fix it? She said yeah silver one is covered by medi-cal & if you want the white one again you will have to pay another 250$. I wouldn't have had a problem paying that, but with how she treated my son & I. I had to leave. I walked out holding my son crying in the elevator because I felt like I have failed him. Now, I barely touch or try to brush his crowns they start bleeding BAD ! I don't know what else to do. . But this place , this DENTIST is a joke ! Please do me a favor, do NOT bring your children here. If you are going to be working with children especially young ones, you need to have the most patience & be understanding. She doesn't have either one. read more

I brought my daughter here as recommended by her Dentist to have her fills done. The first time I brought her in was for a checkup, and the doctor was LATE!! But my impression of her when she finally got there was thatbshe was direct, and honest. Which I could appreciate. My opinion changed when it came to the visit where she would actually work on my daughter. The front desk staff was very unprofessional, and if you're looking for confidentiality of your childs medical services, this isn't the place. They just blurted out in front of everyone in the lobby why I was there, and what she was being seen for without calling me to the desk, or providing any privacy at all. Once they called my daughter back to receive her sedative, the doctor was VERY RUDE to me but I took it, Whatever. When it came time to my daughters xrays, there was 2 technicians. 1 was great! She was fast and knew what she was doing, the other was slower and seemed as if she was still learning and that is fine, that wasn't a problem. Until the Dr ran into the Xray room and started scolding her in front of my child, and I. She was not only rude to me,!but she treats her staff like crap as well. When it came to her treating my daughter, she was actually okay. She sang, and did what she could to make my daughter feel comfortable and safe. She was fast and my daughter didn't feel scared. Which is good, because I would have gone off if she treated my daughter the way she treated the parents and her staff. I give her 1 star because she needs to work on her professionalism, and attitude towards her staff, and towards the parents, and also because there was no sense of confidentiality in the establishment regarding patient treatment. She's good at her job, she's very direct, but she's rude and unprofessional, and so are her front desk staff. read more

WORST DENTIST EVER! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE TO PATIENTS, PATIENT'S PARENTS AND HER STAFF!! I wish I could've given this place 0 stars! I regret taking my son with her! My son was 3 or 4 years old when The dentist told me he need to get a root canal on 3 teeth. On the day of the procedure we had to wait 1 hour and half after our appointment time for the dentist to attend us. The dentist came out took him back, after 30 minutes into the procedure her assistant came out NOT THE DENTIST tells me it's going to end up being a total for 6 teeth that he was going to do a root canal. My husband and i were in surprised! Us thinking that we were helping our son we agreed to the procedure. LESS 2 WEEKS the crown falls out. We take back to place back it. The dentist yells at us saying I'll place it in this time next time it falls out you will pay out of pocket! Mind you my son has Gold Coast I know for a fact medi-cal will cover if it falls out! If she wants to charge you for placing a crown back in place and you have insurance that is called FRAUD and she can go to prison for that. THANKFULLY I TAKE MY SOM NOW TO MUCH MORE PROFESSIONAL PLACE WHERE YOU CAN TELL THE EMPLOYEES THERE LOVE THEIR JOB! I've been taking my son to to Dr. Nazarian for 4 years now. I completely trust her and I know she has the best intentions when it comes down to taking care of my sons teeth. I know why some people say she can be stern or rude, it's just her personality and maybe because it's hard on the parents to see their kids go through it. It can be hard to not have a super soft, sweet type of person communicate through the dramatic times, but trust me she means well. She has a no nonsense approach to her work, which I appreciate, and the staff has been very caring whenever we've visited. The last time we went, my son was able to respond way better to the assistance coaching him through, than me telling him what to do. They do their best, serving children in the dentist world is a tough gig. I can't imagine, it's like swimming up stream against the horrible effects of sugar they see and then having to put kids through the pain, all because of poor food choices and of course, genetics plays a part as well. But, from what I've experienced over the past four years, the whole culture here works very well together and they collectively try to help you and your kid through the process. read more

I took my Son to a Dentist for his first exam and while we were there they said they weren't able to take x-rays due to not having the "equipment' so they did the cleaning and a visual exam and I was told he had a couple of cavities so I was referred to Dr.Nazarian to take care of that. When we got to Dr.Nazarians office the staff was very friendly and helpful we were able to do x-rays and when the Dr came to check my son she explained that there was a lot that was missed at the other office. She walked me through everything and helped me get everything I needed for my child done. She was very gentle and fast and was singing to my child so he wouldn't be scared and he felt very comfortable. Everything was done all in one appointment so we wouldn't have to come back multiple times I was very pleased with her work and her staff. I will definitely be bringing my son back for his routine check ups. I highly recommend Dr.Nazarian for all of your child's dental needs. read more

We waited for over an hour to be brought back for the X-rays then waited another 30 minutes before going into an exam room to be seen by the dentist. It was hard to understand her. We went in because my son fell earlier that morning and with the trauma broke two teeth. She barely looked in his mouth then explained he had two cavities and they would fix them, had her assistant explain the oral sedation then left. The assistant cleaned his teeth then we were escorted out to make an appointment to fix his teeth. He had not eaten for 7 hours by this time and I wanted them to try and fix them that day. Now he has to wait more than a week. He is in pain and I am very frustrated at the lack of communication. Plus there was a child screaming the whole time we were there. That definitely lowers my trust when a child being worked on screams so much and for so long. read more

Worst Dentist I have ever dealt with. Office very small and plain. The dentist not very sympathic to the child, she got Very annoyed when the child started screaming , the Dentist kept telling him to stop yelling after a while the Dentist and her assistant would stuff gauze in the child's mouth to stop him from screaming until he started choking a few times or the assistant would cover his mouth! scared me. Even upon first meeting the dentist never introduced herself never smiled wasn't friendly at all. She seemed so rough on the child I just couldn't take it seeing her work on him the Dentist wasn't even gentle at all she just seemed so cold. They also should have at least some headphones to muffle the noise from the medical equipment. I had to leave and let the dad switch places. I was so upset because I remember being that age and the dentist I had was brutal my mother ending up taking me out off there. The experience I had traumatized me bad, I've had a phobia with dentists since then. I just think children's dentists should be more personable and gentle especially with children since the experience can impact a child for the rest of there lives. read more
