I rarely write reviews, but this experience warrants one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I first contacted this rescue, I fully outlined our home situation, including small children and other pets. I made it clear we were willing to wait as long as it took for the right fit and requested a foster-to-adopt arrangement to ensure compatibility.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A volunteer recommended a dog and assured us he was a good match for our home. The dog was transported from San Diego to Los Angeles for a meet and greet and was left with us that same day. There was no home check, no reference check, and no medical or behavioral history provided. We were asked to sign a form and submit $500, described as refundable if we did not move forward with adoption. The dog bit my husband the first night. Days later, he lunged at me and broke skin on my face. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We stayed in constant communication with the rescue and even hired the trainer they recommended.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After six weeks, the dog bit a household employee badly enough that she required ER treatment and stitches. At that point, the rescue agreed to take the dog back. However, when I asked about the $500 refund, I was told that because we had the dog longer than two weeks, we had "legally adopted" him, despite the arrangement being described as foster-to-adopt. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I raised concerns, I received an aggressive and deeply unprofessional email response attacking me personally rather than addressing the safety issues.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Afterward, I found the rescue's original social media posts about this dog, which clearly stated he needed an experienced foster or adopter. We were not an experienced behavioral home, and I had been transparent about that from the beginning. We went into this with good intentions and were willing to wait for the right fit. update: My opinion on CSR has not changed. Especially since I have had multiple people message me saying they WISH they took my review more seriously. To this day I believe Goldie would not be alive if I had not got there the day that I did. She was so incredibly sick in their care and the conditions were unlike anything I've seen... A house with a collapsing roof converted into a shelter. Dirty and tearing tarp nailed across the windows and doors. It was absolutely disgusting conditions. Goldie is doing great, but I will continue to spread word about this organization and hopefully someone with real power can take them down. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I fostered/adopted a dog thru them and they were very responsive to my needs/questions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall relatively easy to work with and I didn't experience any type of harassment as mentioned in other reviews.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A lot of reviews mention expensive adoption fees, but please keep in mind while the adoption fees can seem steep, this organization needs donations to operate and continue to rescue dogs. I adopted Jack two years ago from CSR. The process was pretty atraight forward, and I got responses fairly quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also was really grateful that I got to meet with Jack a few times before I made the commitment to adopt him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From what I saw, the volunteers and fosters selflessly put in a lot of time and expense for their animals. My boyfriend and I were looking at dogs on petfinder and requested inquiry on a dog we thought was so cute and perfect for us. Found one of their dogs on petfinder. Reached out and was shown another dog, Bella, as their foster parent didn't want to part with Sienna. Everything was going well. Adoption fee was $250. When Bella came out of spay surgery, I was sent an email that price went up to $350. I said ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also asked if I was willing to foster as well. I said sure but I have never done it before and asked for details. They said they provide food and medical and have volunteers that can take them to their appointments.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I meet the Song Sisters but cannot understand a single word they're saying because they were talking so fast so I had no idea who was who.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of them started walking around my house with a camera. Didn't know if she was taking pictures or video. I signed the foster paperwork for my first foster Cheerio. They told me that he doesn't like to be picked up and I would have to use the harness and leash to help him up the steps as one of hind legs was injured. They left cans of pumpkin for dogs, treats, and dog milk (expired for 3 months). Things went south when I kept asking for a copy of the contracts for adoption and fostering and when I complained I found fleas and ticks on both Bella and Cheerio. I was told their volunteers will be picking both dogs up to be checked by the vet for fleas and ticks and for Bella's suture removal from her spay. Few hours later, my dog is gone so is my foster and the Song Sisters refunded my money with a "per my request" memo note. Here's the thing. I NEVER ASKED FOR A REFUND. I wanted my dog Bella back home. Pasadena, Manhattan Beach Police, and Carson Sheriffs were called and reports made. But due to this being a civil issue, they couldn't do anything. When Carson Sheriffs called the number I have from the Song Sisters, a man picked up the call and said that I asked for a refund. Lies lies lies. I'm waiting for this foundation to be shut down and their medical licenses taken away. Some people's adoptions may have gone well and still going well BUT this is my experience with this rescue/Song Sisters. If you want to gamble on them, it's on you. If these Sisters try to intimidate me with a lawyer like they have with other people, I HAVE ALL THE PROOF. read more

I am currently fostering a dog through Caring Songs Rescue and I am so grateful that this rescue decided to save this sweet, happy girl. They save countless dogs and puppies that no other rescues want. They get the dogs fixed right away and make sure they get booster shots. I have never seen a rescue so caring and so thorough. All the negative reviews break my heart because those people have no idea how difficult it is to run a rescue. Adoption and ownership of a dog or cat costs money. And sometimes, an applicant isn't a good fit for the dog or financially stable enough to have a pet. It's just the truth. The Caring Songs Rescue volunteers are experienced and make sure a background check is done and that the dog goes to the best home possible. They are a foster-based rescue and save more dogs than most other rescues. I'm beyond grateful and beg them to keep saving lives. Especially from high kill shelters that kill puppies daily. These dogs and puppies deserve life and trust me when I tell you that other rescues won't save these dogs because they are too full or don't have enough funds. Caring Songs move mountains to help every dog they can and make strong connections with other rescues to support one another in the rescue community. Fosters and adopters sometimes seem to forget that it's about the dogs. 100% of the money goes to the animals. Keep up the great work ladies! How I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews from other adopters before talking to this rescue! We are experienced pet owners, and have had fantastic experiences adopting from other rescues. Sadly with Caring Songs , we had a similar experience to those described previously - an absolute nightmare. Areas of concern: 1. They lied about her age. They stated she was 10 months old. She is 1.5 years old. (See posting from shelter below, I also have medical records from the shelter stating she is an adult and they verbally confirmed it on the phone). 2. She was sick. She has constant diarrhea. The listed from the shelter she was adopted from stated she needed medical attention. They gave me no proof medical attention was ever given. They also recommended I take out the stitches from her being spayed myself if I was comfortable doing so. When I told them she was sick, they offered to send medications in the mail with no diagnose being given of her condition from a vet and reacted negatively to me saying I wanted our vet to look at her to see what was going on. 3. They said she is good with cats. She is not. She has a high prey instinct and constantly stalked our cat. We ended up having to muzzle her after she made a serious attempt to have a cat dinner. See responses from their recommended trainer below when we reached out about constant stalking. It was recommended by the trainer that we keep her on a leash or crated at all times if there was a chance she would come in contact with the cat. 4. They stated she is good with kids. She is not. Again, she has a high prey instinct. While the dog was laying down in the living room , my daughter got up and trotted up the stairs as children do. The dog immediately sprang up, ran after her, tackled her, kept her pinned down, and nipped her hard three times enough to leave teeth marks and bruising. See responses to this situation from their reccomend end trainer below stating it sounds like a prey responses and recommended we don't allow children to run or make sudden movements near her as not not trigger such a response. She also nipped our babysitters son due to him running in the house. 5. They claimed she is calm and quite. She is a high energy dog who loves to bark. I walked her twice a day for 45 minutes to an hour, and took her to the neighborhood dog park, and she still had tons of energy and was constantly tearing things up right in front of me. She needs a big yard to run and play in, which we do not have. 6. They refused to take her back at first (my first request was 3 days after we got her due to her stalking the cat), saying their kennels were full. We were supposed to be on a 2 week trial with her. 7. After we finally got them to take her back, they re-listed her as a housebroken (she is not) puppy, good with cats, good with children. 8. They blamed us for EVERYTHING, and became quite rude and condescending after we returned her. I am I of a strong opinion, there are no bad dogs. This was not a bad dog at all. This was a terrible, irresponsible placement of a dog. We were very clear in what kind of dog we were looking for, and that we had a cat and small children in the house. It put the poor dog who had already been through enough trauma into a high stress situation for her, put my cat in danger, and the children in the house in an unsafe situation as well. I simply can not say enough good things about Caring Songs Rescue. We ran into them at a pet adoption in Yorba Linda. Here we were going to buy table cloths for an event we were hosting and we came home a 10 month old German Shepard Lab Retriever Mix. Our intension was to foster. Needless to say we fell in love. The ladies at the organization were so great and have such big hearts. We were very lucky enough to stumble upon them at the event which allowed us to bring home our beautiful gem, our new family member. I am grateful and thankful for CSR as they did provide great customer service to me and my family. Even a million thank you's will actually not be sufficient for the very great support we received. Fostering/ adopting animals IS NOT EASY. it's definitely not for the weak!!! People forget that while fostering/ adopting animals, you have to follow the 3, 3, 3 rule. It takes 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to start a new routine and 3 months to start to feel like home. It's unfortunate that some feel they didn't have a good experience with CSR and that expectations were not met. It sucks that it sounds like there were frustrating experience with CSR. CSR can't change the past but they are doing their best to strive to provide great customer service and most importantly trying to provide all those fur babies forever loving homes based upon my experience. The monumental effort of what it actually takes to run a rescue is easily criticized and unacknowledged . Kudos to CSR for not giving up and attempted to rise above the negative reviews. I wish I did my homework before ever getting involved with these people. I hope all their animals are adopted to loving homes, but I really hope this rescue gets shut down. From the owners to the volunteers, I cannot believe how rude every person I dealt with was. I wish you luck if you ever need to get ahold of them. I spent almost 6 months emailing and calling them and I think I got a total of 3 responses. Also if anything goes wrong they will gaslight you and tell you that you are to blame. It's definitely not that they lack any means of communication to adopters, fosters, or the people within the organization itself (because no one has any idea what's going on) or the fact that they lie about their animals. I get you want to have them adopted, but being honest about their personalities, reactivities, and training is a BIG deal. Not every family will be perfect for every dog, they need to know the realistic expectation of them. Posting the same dog 5 times with different name, age, and personality is not the way to get them adopted. I found the dog on Petfinder and reached out to the rescue. I met with the foster dad and asked about the dog's history. I was told that he was abandoned b/c the dad of the family that he was with did not like him b/c he barks too much. The foster dad told me that he does well with his groomer. Within a week of me bringing him home, he bit my cleaning lady. Thereafter, I finally got his medical records and found that he had a history of bitings and his vaccines are not up to date. I was not told or warned about his history of bitings. Prior to learning of his proneness to biting, we took him to the park and beach but kept a close eye on him. We did notice his aggressiveness toward other people and dogs and removed him. We paid for a trainer to evaluate him. Her prognosis for him was not good. She indicated that he is highly traumatized and needs to be kept away from people, kids, and other animals. Very short walks b/c everything stresses him out. When we walk him, he barks and lunges at every moving thing and everybody even when they are across the street or 1/2 a block away. I took him to 2 different vet offices and none were able to touch him. Also, the groomers were not able to touch him either. He has bitten several people including the dog-sitter's teenage son. We tried to keep him away from people but sometimes things happen beyond our control. I put him on calming chews and even Trazodone but nothing helps calm him down. I contacted the rescue to ask for the name of the groomer that groomed him in their care and I was told that the groomer would not take him again (this is different than what the foster dad told me). After so many biting incidents, I contacted the rescue to return him (the adoption contract said i have to return him to the rescue if I can't keep him). It has been several weeks and i still have the dog. The rescue never told me that he bites and they should have been honest and forefront with me so i know what i got myself into. The dog needs to be with an experience dog handler who knows how to train him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The rescue group told me that it is my fault that the dog bites and i didn't come to take lessons from their dog trainer![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This rescue is not truthful and the pets suffer b/c of them. As much as I don't want to return the dog to them, my hands are tied b/c of the adoption paper that says i need to return him to them but they are dragging their feet in taking him back. I wish I had paid attention to the reviews here and avoided Caring Songs/Julie and Allie, the sisters who run it. Unfortunately I didn't and I deeply regret it. Julie attacked me, verbally and in writing, when I couldn't keep a dog I fostered thinking she was, as they'd listed her on PetFinder, "a gentle, sweet flower... good with dogs, cats, people" but was actually a fearful, leash-reactive, aggressive dog who was completely unsocialized and needed a ready, skilled owner - NOT a first time dog owner like me. I applied to adopt her as an ESA, and didn't mention my specific conditions - not once on the application was it asked for, and not once when they met me in person did they ask, either. Yet, they tried to use them against me when I had to surrender the dog; this after I had already kept her two weeks longer than I was supposed to because of their delaying. They: - lied about the pup's nature/challenges - Repeatedly dismissed the advice of a vet AND a trainer in order to try to convince me to keep her when I wasn't ready to or able - Delayed twice, then tried a third time, when I sought to surrender the dog, harming the dog who was growing more and more fond of me and would, according to a VETERINARIAN, "be traumatized by a rejection if an emotional bond was allowed to form" (they tried to pretend they "talked to 'someone'" who said this actually wasn't true and so I should keep her) - Told me (this was Julie) I was "throwing away my dog like a piece of GARBAGE" - twice - over the phone on the day of the surrender - Aggressively asked for money for 2 training sessions they paid for - after having offered the free training themselves when I fostered (I paid them this back even still to try and smooth things over even though I owed them nothing) - Sent the various frustrating, sometimes threatening, frequently irrational texts in the screenshots below Please do not support these people in doing more harm - my heart hurts knowing Rosie, the dog I had and loved, is now traumatized because she was allowed to emotionally bond with a new owner about to give her up, due to Caring Songs' neglectful incompetence. It saddens me more knowing someone might be getting the same unacceptable treatment while adopting or fostering from Caring Songs that I got from these people. I have been doing this for 36 years and Caring Songs Rescue has the biggest heart for animals I have come across. Unfortunately the internet allows anyone with serious control problems to bad mouth them without repercussions. In fact someone has made it her life's work to destroy their careers and rescue. Not an animal lover I would say. The Caring Songs Rescue spends all their personal money on caring for the animals (vet costs, training, boarding, etc) They are helping to rescue unwanted and sick animals during any free time they may have. Had a great experience finding a family pet to love. We found a dog we were interested in on petfinder.com. We filled out the adoption paperwork and went to meet him at a petsmart in City of Industry. The dog didn't end up being a good fit, but luckily there were other dogs there for adoption. We found our Ollie and were immediately smitten. We have had him for a month now and he's quickly become a part of out family. Caring Songs was very helpful along the way and definitely was there for us with all are questions and very responsive. You can tell they care about the animals and placing them in good homes. Found this place through Petfinder as we saw a sweet pup named Kingsley and inquired about the dog. Filled out their online application and someone from the shelter contacted us. They requested a copy of my ID and a one minute home video, which we provided. They then set up a meeting via text with the dog 's Foster parents. Said that if meeting went well, we could take the dog home that day. We drove to the Foster's neighborhood in Silverlake at a nearby coffee shop parking lot. The dogs got along great, but we didn't know that Kingsley was in a cast - this information was not included in his profile. We wanted to know more - how long the cast would be on, who would remove the cast, would he need additional medical care, etc. Plus the adoption fee was $650, which we felt was a bit steep. Even the foster dad thought that it was a lot of money. We adopted our first dog for $350 and I get that they are rescuing the dogs, providing surgery and support for these dogs, but $650 was a lot, seemed like they were breeding dogs for profit. So we emailed our questions and asked if it was possible to pay $500-550 as my husband had not been working due to Covid. They responded and said the fee was to partially reimbursed them for transportation, medical and training and that if they hadn't rescue him, he would have been put down. They also said that their board would discuss the price, but what happens if there was an emergency, what would we do then? It was very condescending and frankly rude. We did notice that they updated Kingsley's profile with pictures of his cast after our meeting. Decided not respond to them as they seemed to be wanting to make a profit from these dogs. If you are planning to adopt, I'd say stay away from this shelter - they seem to care more about the money then the dog. read more

I love and am 110% happy with the rescue dog Melbean I adopted from the rescue this year. Every part of the adoption process was smooth and positive and I highly recommend them! They go above and beyond the call of duty for countless homeless animals. And have the biggest hearts for abandoned pets and are a real pleasure to work with. They generously provide quality food, supplies and send us all the extras we want by efficiently delivering them to my porch within a day. They care about animals more than any group I've worked with and all my friends who know them also agree they are a quality rescue group. I refused to give the dog back because rescue said they didn't care of he dies on transport, that they had to recoup some money on him. And I never did any fundraising on him. It's been about 2 years since I made the mistake of blindly thinking these ladies were helping me out. The day that they were supposed to "just take Aries for a showing" he never returned. After I text them letting them know I was not going to go through with the adoption and to bring my dog back because my family was going to keep him @ the location they picked him up. Despite the facts. I have received NO update on MY dog. I have proof of purchase when I purchased my puppy and his first vaccines. I have NO legal record that these ladies stole my dog in a legitimate way. It was an impulsive decision to think these ladies would offer an honest adoption arrangement. I don't know who took my Rottweiler I don't know where he is. They only posted this black guy with him at a nearby park by my home. I don't know if he's being treated right. They don't update you. I called off the adoption five minutes within th driving away with my dog. They even persuaded me to load the cage into the van because he was going to be shown at adoption fair. Do not use this rescue. I regret not looking at the reviews before applying for a dog to adopt but they have all been accurate. Their application is pretty standard (though shorter than most rescues I've applied to) and we got a response within 2-3 days requesting to send a video house tour. I sent a video of our place and within 24 hours, I received a text asking if we were interested in doing a meet and greet as the dogs were apparently with fosters. I said yes and sent over a couple follow up questions, including when they are available to meet. Every question was answered except the last one - which was definitely the most important. In the meantime, I get added to a group chat with a bunch of random numbers (I presume the foster parents and maybe some other volunteers?) where they again don't answer my question about scheduling but instead send me pictures of a bunch of different dogs I didn't apply to (and definitely don't match what I put in my application) asking if I'd want to meet any of those. The dogs were listed as being in Manhattan Beach (which they were not - one was in Pasadena while our 1st choice was all the way in Newport). At this point, I emphasize I just want to meet the dogs we applied to, giving preference to our 1st choice. This was about 11am and I never heard back the rest of the day. I followed up the next day to ask if any of the days and times I had provided worked to meet our 1st choice. During this time, I decided to check their Yelp and I am very glad I did. Seems like people had similar experiences (people getting added to random large group chats, getting random dogs they didn't apply to pushed on them, never getting a clear answer on the status of the dogs) so at this point, my fiancè and I assume the dogs we want are not actually available and decide we aren't going to follow up even if they did respond. Well someone did respond 1-2 days later and said our first choice was getting moved around so they'd provide us a status. I ignored it as I really didn't want to deal with this rescue. Today I get a response saying our 1st choice is at a different rescue and this is where the other part of the negative reviews come to light. Many other reviews have commented that the rescue lies about the dog's health, age, temperament, etc. Out of curiosity, I decided to check out the rescue our 1st choice is now at and lo and behold, they had lied about the age. Caring Song had said this dog was 2 or 3 years old, this dog is actually 6 years old. So yeah, just very sketchy, unprofessional, and disorganized. I have had much better experiences with Mutt Scouts and Wags and Walks so use them instead! read more

DO NOT USE THIS RESCUE. Ali is a racist, but she is also absolutely unprofessional and abusing the shelter system. As you can see in these reviews, not only does she harass you if she determines you're unfit (I have no clue how she thinks she's qualified to do so), but she has never-ending reasons to increase fees repeatedly. Not to mention, she already has a steep price. *cough cough* take your money elsewhere. Our position was slightly different as we did not seek out this rescue directly. Last week, my husband's friend gifted us a puppy. Ali reached out to the previous owner and demanded that she provide the new owner's contact and address. A few days later, we received texts and calls asking to send house pictures, dog updates, etc., because this was "part of the rehoming requirements." We understood the responsibilities of having a dog and got him vaccinated and chipped within the first week, but that was insufficient for her. She continued to harass us and said we needed to meet in person to complete the paperwork (clearly, they are still not very tech-savvy). At this point, we did not want to communicate further because she would have another reason to find us "unfit." Then the racist remarks started spilling and saying, "Latinos and Asians are not fit to have dogs," "Asians still eat dogs, there are uneducated people who treat them like livestock" - the list goes on. Again, at this point, we wanted nothing to do with these people. The next day, they showed up at my house and removed the dog. No matter what we did, we could not agree, and it was unfortunate because this was a gift for my son, and he was devastated when he was taken away. There are so many other alternatives to seek rather than using this place. This rescue abuses the system by homing animals, removing them, and rehoming them repeatedly to collect (and live off) adoption fees--shame on you, sisters. read more

I contacted this rescue In January 2024 inquiring about a specific dog I saw on Petfinder and it started off fine, but they seem unorganized and unprofessional. The main issue being in general they take FOREVER to respond. It got to a point where they were asking if I could foster, passing me around different numbers/groupchats, asking me for the same proof and questions repeatedly all just to end up telling me 2 weeks later that the dog I was interested in/have been talking to them about with patience ... was already adopted. Best of all they ghosted ME when I continued telling them what I was looking for and answer their questions ? ! Usually I give rescues grace since they do a lot, but this is unprofessional and clearly I'm not the only one that had issues communicating with them. Would not recommend. read more

Omg, they rescue my dog Kaya, a German Swiss shepherd , from being out down. The shelter who wanted to put her down don't have idea of how amazing she is. Caring Song Rescue changed my life giving Kaya a chance. Kaya as a rescue she has a lot of issues but she's so amazing, beautiful and smart. She calls my boyfriend when I'm sick, she calms me down when I am upset or frustrated, she cuddles me to sleep and wakes me up if I have a nightmare. She's great with the little foster I had and with her half brother. She's a brat but such and amazing brat.
