The atmosphere was cool, laid back and not too loud which I appreciated. I could tell that a lot of regulars come here by the interactions between the staff and the guests which means they're doing something right. My bartender/server John was personable and attentive (definitely worth tipping). He got my sugar rim right every time without him having to ask me, "salt or sugar" like once I say sugar there's no switching up. The prices are reasonable and the food was better than I expected. I ordered Birria tacos (those and the consumé were on point) the rice and beans didn't disappoint and the elotes hit the spot for me. Once I added more cheese at home and hit it with the lime I was in heaven. I'd definitely come back here not just for the drinks and food, but the whole experience was definitely a vibe. read more

Wow! What a hidden gem in Garden City for very, VERY good Mexican food. Out of 3 nights in Garden City we ate here two of them if that tells you anything. Quaint little restaurant in a mini strip mall with the typical decor, ethnic but not over the top to appease touristas. Mom and Pop owners and servers really went out of their way to make you feel like you were an honored guest in their home. You can tell they love their business, love what they do, and genuinely love people. You could tell many of the other patrons there were obvious regulars, it had much more of a family atmosphere than that of a restaurant The food was just as good as their service and kindness. A very well rounded menu with options from the "regular" Mexican combos to well thought out house specialties. The first night we my coworker had the course special burrito with everything but the kitchen sink in it....it was HUGE but more importantly great flavor. He raved about both. I had the enchiladas Porky which were outstanding, and a portion big enough for leftover lunch. My friend tasted mine and liked it so well he ordered it on our return visit. I had carnitas the second trip which had been perfectly braised and them crisped on the flat top, just excellent spicing and preparation. Both their mild and hot salsas were very good, chips authentic and fresh. I'm a snob for Mexican food as my wife and I either cook or eat out Mexican at least twice a week. Carlitos is easily in the top ten overall of every Mexican restaurant we've visited. I love everything about this bistro. Real latinos to serve and cook for you. They started with the complimentary salsa and chips. My main dish was steak fajitas for $21, piled high and steaming hot. I can't tell you how delicious the refried beans are and i don't generally like refried beans. There was so much food none in my party could finish it all. After checking into our hotel we were looking for a dinner place after a long road trip and stumbled across this gem. We thought the place was closed as there's no lights on the outside saying that it was open. We started with a seafood ceviche which was awesome. Had a choice of fish or fish and shrimp . I had the Al pastor tacos which came with rice and beans .good sized portion and was very filling. Wife had a chicken wrap which she thought was very good. Our server was great and was very helpful . Food is always good. Service is pleasant but spotty. Ambiance is pure Mexican diner. My family and I have eaten here half a dozen times in the past five years. It is a perfect distance from our house to stop to eat on our trips to the mountains. Plus half our party will eat Mexican over anything and the other half vote for a sushi restaurant in Pooler. But the food, you want to know about the food; Salsa - on the thin side but tasty. Queso - standard faire, but hood. Speedy - took a long time to come out but my wife loved it. Tacos Al Pastuer - another solid choice. Shrimp Quesadilla - not very pleasant and it was my dish, figures. Tips: Queso Speedy Fajitas They are perpetually under staffed, so don't expect drive thru type service. Plus speedy is more like slowly. read more

They have vegan options clearly labeled on the menu, but when I ordered a vegan burrito- they made it with dairy. Luckily I noticed before eating it and they remade it. It was good once remade but I'm not sure how the mishap occurred so just be mindful if you're vegan and eat here. read more

Vacationing In Savannah Ga and their are two things I always look for is dog friendly Mexican restaurants. :) This place did not have an outside area for my fur baby but was too kind to find a us an area inside away from customers so we could bring our baby in with us to eat. The place was very nicely decorated with really cool Mexican decor. I especially love the different skull heads. I kept my baby in her stroller so not to disturb anyone. she is always ver quiet anyway. Ordered table side guacomole. Absolutely Delicious !! Fresh tasty and the server was so kind and helpful. Recently relocated to Pooler after years in Texas and New Mexico so looking for good Mexican food. Calling this the "Best Mexican Food" in Pooler just shows how bad Mexican food is in the area. Service was average even though only 4 tables were occupied. Server stood by the register on the phone instead of checking the tables. Did not refill drinks quickly. Food came out quickly though. Chips and salsa. Salsa was pretty good however the chips were stale. Carne Asada was tough and overcooked. Not seasoned in the normal manner but needs a better cut of meat. The place was in a small shopping center next to Subway. Didn't look like much from the outside, but once inside, it was a clean and beautiful artwork. We had margaritas (watermelon and lime), chips, queso and ground beef dip, steak fajitas, shrimp cocktail, and a bowl with mixed meat and veggies that was hot almost the whole time I had dinner. Everything was tender, very balanced seasoning, absolutely great service and I would definately come back again. We live about 17 miles away, and it was worth coming out. Stopped because bigger known restaurants were busy af and this place came up. Everything came out perfect and the attention to the customers was amazing. She checked up if people needed drinks, chips, napkins and how the food was so far. Everything tasted fresh and so was the pineapple as I saw them bringing them in.
