My dad had a craving for Mexican food and we had heard great things about this place. Parking was not an issue but I can see how it can be. If you want to get a good spot, get there earlier than you expect. Entering the establishment, we were greeted with professionals who smiled, welcomed us in, and seated us almost immediately. The service was quick and understanding. I appreciate that it was our first time and our server was patient with us. All of our orders came out hot and ready to eat. My personal favorite was the chips and salsas, specifically the guacamole! The food was not only hot, they are large portions. Be sure to come in with big appetites. The place was tad bit dim but it worked well for those of us who do not feel too great about the hot summer sun beaming down on you. The Mexican decor was beautiful and accents the chairs and design very well. For vegan/plant based eaters: be sure to order the whole beans as the refried beans are cooked in lard. Also, if you are looking for a "meat" option/alternative, they do not have it. Be sure to speak to your server and be clear about your dietary needs. Amazing service and food! I went for lunch recently and ordered the pollo à la diabla and it was AMAZING! Very good portion sizes and when it says "diabla" it's actually spicy which I appreciate! We went around 11:15 on a Wednesday so it was very quiet and the music was a respectable level. I did some work with a colleague and it was definitely a good environment to get it done, not so much when it's dinner time because that is a little more busy. read more

I usually like this place. But today I ordered my favorite Chili relleno burrito...and there was no Chili relleno in it. Just rice beans and cheese. And it cost $18. Gave it another try it was worse then the first time. The meat all taste the same no matter what you order. I personally don't like chewy pieces in my meat or tendon. The tortillas they use for burritos are the same for tacos, chimis,tostadas, chulpas. They get super soggy. The place is just not good. read more

We literally stumbled on Carlito's in Yuba City. We don't live there, we were lost and hungry. It was the first eatery we saw, so I pulled in to check out the menu! Lunches are well priced! Cheaper than MacDonald's! $10.99 bought me tender and flavorful Chili Colorado. It was yummy with large portions. Their beans were flavorful. Rice was just the standard Mexican rice but nothing wrong with that. We loved the salsa that came with the thick tortilla chips. (I like them thin.) The place was crowded. We had dogs in the car, but it's January so we took a chance. These people know how to run a popular restaurant! Our meals came out quickly! Hubby ordered the Steak Fajitas and he loved his meal too. His beans and rice came in cute and edible tortilla bowls. I heard from a neighboring booth that they make great bar drinks but it was a little early in the day for us. We had ice water, double lemon. Carlton's is my new favorite Mexican Restaurant in Yuba City. We loved the decor too! Try it. I don't know why it had some bad reviews. The food is great, especially the Cazuela Mexicana which is a delicious Mexican stew. The service is mostly terrific too - I have never had a bad waiter or waitress, even when we are the only ones sitting on the porch, which is my favorite place to sit there because it is cozy or shady, depending on the weather, and I can bring my dog. read more

I didn't expect it to look like this at all when I arrived, it looks Spanish, warm, intimate, and well decorated in here. I had to get the Chile Colorado. This is a Latin American style stew, instead of the Southwestern style soup that a lot of people out there are familiar with and I adore. The Sauce was so deep in flavor, seasoned well, balanced, slightly smokey, and the spices were bold. The Spanish Rice was cooked just right. The Bean purée was so silky smooth. The presentation was on point. I really liked how not once during my Dinner, that I needed to ask for something, they always made sure I got everything that I needed. Didn't have to wait long for our order. Food was super hot when it arrived. For Mexican food, the prices were on the high side. This prevented a four star rating. I rarely give out 5 star ratings unless all the boxes are checked. Food was good but we've had better Mexican food so the bar is set high. I would come back for another special occasion. Picked up food from this place as a token of appreciation for my employees in Yuba and it was a great choice! The carne asadas was delicious. Good flavor and seasoning to the meat and it didn't disappoint. The rice and beans were good as well along with the grilled jalapeño pepper that was included. On our first visit to the restaurant everything was great so we went back a second time different day and that was a not so great experience with our waitress. She was rude to us. It was seven of us and at the time of ordering the food she started talking Spanish, which it was kind of ok but not ok because we had three people that it was very obvious that they were not Spanish speakers. We placed our orders, she brought the food and didn't bring us utensils until we asked for them. Then when it was getting closer to ask for the check we asked her for separate receipts and that's where she showed her true colors. She slammed an empty chip basket on the empty table next to us and told us why we didn't ask for that at the beginning, that we were making it difficult for her. She left "looking for the manager" and it took her like 15 minutes to come back. She finally brought the receipts and when we gave her the cards to pay, she left and took another 15 minutes to come back. During this time that she was gone she was helping other customers and kept on passing us by, pretty much ignoring us. I recommend the restaurant for the food but avoid that Mexican older lady. read more
