Their communication was great, the charges were clearly laid out, they arrived on time, and most importantly took the utmost care with my belongs and furniture. Clearly they have been in the business for a while, because the truck was loaded so intricately and with a lot of care. We had two stops - the first to drop off stuff to the house and the next to the storage unit. With both stops - I was really impressed with the professionalism. All in all, my husband and I both agree that they were excellent value for money; and I really felt peace of mind throughout the moving process! The crew, Roberto and Harry, were empathetic, caring, and incredibly efficient with packing, loading, and unloading the one-bedroom apartment. I spent the day worrying (needlessly) that the storage unit I had rented was too small. The crew fit all of the items neatly and safely into a 5x10' unit with room to spare. I've never seen anything like it. I also want to give kudos to the front office. They were the first company to respond to my inquiry, answered all of my questions patiently, and kept us informed about when the crew was arriving. The value that we received for the price was off the charts. Put Potomac Moving Company at the top of your list. I would not hesitate to call them again for a move if the need arose.

I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

I had one issue with the frankly crappy reassembly of my captain's bed. When the movers left, the bed was bowed, drawers would not close completely and the slats were falling out or not fitting in at all. I reported the problem to Serena and it was corrected promptly. A crew came and reassembled the bed to eliminate the problems. Finally, Serena is the best. She is responsive, knowledgeable, friendly and very easy to work with. I would recommend this business almost entirely as a result of the superior service she provided.

When I contacted MOTW among others, I was initially turned off by their hard core phone presence marketing, but once I told them to cease, they did. So I learned that they do listen. Because of their competitive pricing I was concerned that 1 or more of the glass table tops I have as well as nicer furniture would be broken broken or scratched. That was not the case. Everything was super wrapped in blankets and then covered in packing tape before it even left the house. The guys, 3 of them, worked hard without breaks except for lunch when they traveled between destinations. They were friendly and worked with a great attitude which led me to tip them well. There is a place going up the stairs where the ceiling meets the incline that typically gets banged and damaged during moving. They did not hit it once. A couple of items were incorrectly placed in rooms but that was as much our fault for miscommunicating. All in all I would use them again if needed.

They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard!

We did all the packing ourselves, but they did offer that as a service (note: we had a couple plates break, so next time, we'll probably pay a little extra to have them pack instead). On the day of the move, three very kind, competent staff showed up. They were quick, efficient, and wrapped all our furniture so carefully. They arrived a couple days ahead of schedule to our new apartment (and called us to let us know in advance), which ended up working out beautifully. The unloading was smooth, too.
