Thrilled with the final product!!! I was so happy with how my pool turned out that I decided to have Carlos Pools build a second, nearly identical pool at another property. I think that says a lot about my experience with them. From the very beginning, Diane, who was responsibel for the intial permits, was fantastic. She is incredibly organized, responsive, and on top of everything. She worked hard to keep the permitting process moving and helped get the permits expedited as quickly as possible. Mike was assigned as my project manager and was very responsive whenever I had questions or called throughout the project. David and his family are master tilers. Their workmanship and attention to detail are exceptional, and the finished black/white diamond pool is absolutely beautiful. Steve, the owner, has been extremely helpful and responsive throughout the process. Whenever an issue arose, he jumped right in to help get it resolved, which I really appreciated. Building a pool is a big project with a lot of moving parts, and there are inevitably things that come up along the way. What matters to me is how a company responds when they do and Carlos Pools has been there to address them. Most importantly, I absolutely love the finished pool (and at a fair price). I'm giving Carlos Pool 1 out of 5 stars only because there is no option to give less than 1 star. We signed a contract with this company about a year ago for a pool remodeling project. We were originally told the project would take approximately 2-3 months at most. It ultimately took around 10 months before they finally completed the work and we were able to put water in the pool. Unfortunately, once we actually started using the pool, we discovered numerous problems that should have been identified and addressed before the project was considered complete. For example, the gas lines for the fire features had not been connected properly, the plumbing was incorrect, the direction of water flow was reversed, and the auto-fill system had not been connected. Throughout the project, our job repeatedly seemed to be pushed aside and was clearly not a priority. After multiple attempts to get these issues addressed, I eventually posted a review. After seeing the review, they asked me to give them another opportunity to resolve the problems. I agreed, and they fixed some of the issues and specifically assured me that the auto-fill had been connected. Based on their request, I removed the review and gave them additional time. Unfortunately, we have now discovered that the auto-fill still has not been connected. What is particularly concerning is that we were specifically told that this had been done when it had not. Providing inaccurate information simply to delay the issue or buy more time is extremely disappointing and unacceptable. At this point, it has been a year since we signed the contract, and we are still dealing with problems related to a project that was supposed to take only 2-3 months. I am posting this review again because I believe anyone considering entering into a contract with this company deserves to know what our experience has been. If you are looking for a company to complete a pool project professionally, on schedule, and with proper attention to detail, I would strongly recommend considering other options. After spending this much money on a pool remodel, no homeowner should have to finish the job by putting a garden hose into the pool every day just to fill it with water. read more

I engaged with Carlos Pools and Spas in the middle of 2025. They came in far below the prices of the four pool companies I received quotes from. Overall, I am very pleased with the final result. My Project Manager, Jorge was outstanding and bent over backwards to fix any problems that arose (and problems will happen no matter the pool company). I paid close attention to the workers as they performed each phase of the construction. I was quite impressed with their attention to detail. They made suggestions to me where they thought they could improve things, and I agreed with and appreciated those suggestions. One other important note - of the four pool companies I received quotes from, Carlos Pools was the only one who said they would work around my existing concrete decking. Every other pool company said they had to tear out what I had and then put in all new after the pool was in. This saved me a lot of money! With that being said.... There were several places that they could improve their processes: The sales guy I dealt with gave me some good suggestions on my decking/Turf areas. However, I made it explicitly clear that I would need them to do the decking work because I didn't have anyone who could do it. He assured me they would take care of it. I also spoke to him about putting my gate and wall back up. I told him I didn't know anyone who could do that. Again, he assured me they would get someone to do that also. When it came time for the decking to be installed, I was told that I was responsible for this. Oh, and I also had to install the bonding wire around the pool. What pool company doesn't install a bonding wire on the pool they are building? I explained that I had worked this out with the sales guy and that it was to be part of the construction project. The sales guy conveniently didn't remember any of these conversations. Ultimately, I had to find people to do this work. This delayed my project for several weeks. These are some of the major things that were not included in the pool price/contract that may surprise you: The cost of getting the city permit was not included. This turned out to be a much cheaper way as other pool companies were charging up $4k for it. I think I paid around $1000. Putting the wall and gate back up. In order to get the construction equipment into my backyard they had to take the gate and the wall it was attached to down. As I mentioned earlier, despite my making it clear I had no way to put the wall/gate back, they were supposed to do that. They did not. The bonding wire that electrically grounds the pool so you don't get electrocuted was not included in the contract. This struck me as very odd. It is very difficult to try and find a qualified person to come and just install a bonding wire. Despite the sales guy designing the turf layout with me, this was also not included in the contract, and I had to find someone who could do this for me. Another item that was not included in the contract was opening the pool with chemicals. I had to have this done separately also. I also did not get a pool skimmer, pool vacuum, or a pool brush. I am pleased with the final product, I just wish the whole process had been a little smother and more transparent. A shout out again to Jorge the project manager! read more

Project start: 8/4/2025 Project ended: 11/12/2025 (due to a total of a 5 week delay for an inspection by the city) We initially inquired with 3 separate pool companies and we came across Mr. Carlos Pools on an Instagram add. We requested a quote and within 24 hours we had a call scheduling the quote. This is where we met David. He came and measured everything provided us detailed information on the process and asked us for a few days to get the design and quote. David provided us the most detailed quote and plans, with visuals, so we can make the best decision for our home and budget. We decided to go with him for our job. The permit process went seamlessly and we were in continuous communication with Mr. Carlos pool and David. Our project began on August 4 and Jorge (project manager) took over as the main contact. He has communicated every step of the way. David and his Team did the concrete work and I can't say enough about the how great it looks. Again, his team continuously communicated and walked us through the entire process. Extremely happy with his work and his team! Lastly, the project is finally done and our pool looks beautiful. Our project has been done for a couple weeks now, had to gather my thoughts to give a fair and honest review. The best way to do so is to rate everyone that was involved with our project. So I will start from the beginning with the sales person. I will not use any names. I understand that not everyone will read the entire review so if you're wondering if I would recommend Carlos Pools, the answer is no! There's better companies out there and the only reason we went with Carlos pools is because they gave us the best price but in retrospect, I would've paid the extra $30K if it meant we had a more involved foreman, more input on our ideas and a smoother process. Sales person He was professional and patient with us. Carlos Pools was the first company that came out and gave us a quote when we started looking around for a company to build our pool. Sales rep was good but I do wish he could've also came up with a layout and idea for our pool. Yes we had an idea of what we wanted but we were also looking for professional input. He just went with what we wanted and in the end we needed up extending the size of our pool and fire pit area. But over all, great sales rep. A couple weeks after signing our contract the first phase began. Our project was assigned a foreman who could have been a lot more involved. Foreman Excavating Crew Not much interaction needed here, the crew was in and out in 2 days. Rebar crew Same as the excavating crew, in and out in a couple days not much interaction. Plumbers This was the first crew that was on site for a few days. They were professional and friendly. Every time I went to talk to them they were knowledgeable and always shared what they were working on. Great group of guys. ShockCrete Crew One day job, and this crew was also very friendly and professional. After the shell of our had cured we were ready to pick out tile and coping colors and styles. This is where we started to disconnect with the office staff and foreman even more. during this meeting we switched the decking from pavers to hard scape (concrete squares with either turf of rock in between) The office lady told us great that we might even save money going with the concrete design, that sounded great until she was not able to tell us what the price difference was and that it would be calculated at the end. It was probably unnecessary to mention this if she was not sure. Additionally, she failed to mention that depending on what we wanted in between the concrete squares it was not gonna be included within what we had already paid. But we moved on.. Mason Crew By far the best group of guys that was involved with our project. Friendly and so super knowledgeable of their work. Very detailed and diligent in their work. They had so much great input and perfected our ideas. After the mason crew was done the project took a sour turn with the decking crew. The day the decking crew began they had lots of questions which I didn't have the answer to and the foreman was nowhere to be found and we called the office their answer was "he doesn't need to be present". I am not even going to rate the decking crew as they were the most unprofessional workers I have ever had work on my house. They all decided it was OK to urinate all over behind our garage. The smell was horrible and urine spots all over the dirt. I called the office and they sent the crew back out the next morning. The crew came and poured Clorox over the urine they apologize and said they have been asking the office to have a porta potty at job sites but they never listen to them. Then they had the audacity to tell me that it was good they didn't drink beer on the job those days if not there would have been more urine!! Absolutely unprofessional!! The plaster and pebble tech was a short job and I was not home for those days. After the pool was filled we had to look elsewhere to have turf installed in between the concrete squares. Over all our experience could have been a lot better. For a company that says they been doing this for years, they don't have all the kinks worked out and not all their contractors are as professional as they should be. It's been a couple weeks and we're still waiting for the final walk through. Our fire pit still missing the lava rock they were supposed to supply.... Marlon Pool tech Marlon is awesome! He was the last person to come and set up all our equipment. Marlon also did the initial chemical balancing of our pool. Marlon is friendly, personable and super knowledgeable of all pool stuff. We liked Marlon so much we hired him as our pool maintenance tech! read more

My experience with Carlos Pools, Spas, and Gardens has been very positive. We had been shopping around for a pool builder and Carlos came in at about 70% of what several pool companies had estimated our pool would cost with the design and features we wanted. From my first meeting with Jose Garcia to my frequent conversations with Lisa, Austin, Dena, and Steve, we always knew exactly where we were in the process and there were never any unpleasant surprises or delays (in fact, these are the friendliest, most knowledgeable and REACHABLE professionals I've worked with on such a large project). The pool was finished within 180 days, even with my frequent requests and changes, and I always felt like a valued customer to all the people listed above. Give them a chance to build your dream pool--you be happy, I'm sure! For reference, my small pool and spa has all Jandy equipment--the VS FloPro variable speed pump, CL460 canister filter, a TrueClear salt system and (my favorite--works great with my home solar panels) the Jandy VersaTemp electric heat/chill pump; my pool guy loves this equipment! One other note--we had a few tiles come loose from the spa wall to the pool (probably from hitting them with a pool brush head?), but the company was out within two weeks for the free repair and there have been no other issues--so Carlos gets an "A+" on post-construction support as well! I'd leave a longer review later. But tbh this experience has been pretty bad overall We had a pool finished in 2024. It was supposed to take 3-5 months but took over a year. A lot of miscommunications because they have different people and not a person who takes true responsibility for the project as a whole Luckily I did a lot of the oversight myself in order to get things done. Also I'm very patient so I can ask for things 3-5 times to get them done as I work in construction as well To get things done you have to send multiple emails and be ok with them ignoring the first couple. They would forget us over and over so I'd have to follow up 2-5 times to get things done. Must be very patient. Often an issue would pop up and there's not accountability. They just send workers who will show up at random times to fix things Currently I emailed them twice and called twice to get some questions about damaged coping after under a year of the pool being built. I hadn't received a response. They are extremely busy to get work done and to get repairs done. Except for their SALES staff who are very responsive. They I'll come help you get project started. But again once project starts there are many delays and no one person who shows responsibility for project You have to follow up multiple times and be ok getting 0 response to work with them. I'm pretty patient as I've worked in construction for many years so I just would oversee the project and ask their sub contractors (many of those Subs would complain about Carlos pools to me individually). One more note. They have an individual offer you free salt for your pool in exchange for a review. I didn't take the free salt because things didn't go well with our build. This felt like a bribe to leave good review in exchange for like $200 worth of salt. I had left a review before as I was ignored for weeks about a separate request. and they asked me if I would take it down. So I did at the time. But the same thing is happening again. No response after contacting them four times. The pool came out nice looking though because I was meticulous about overseeing the pool and was diligent about requesting things that the subcontractors didn't do. I would have to act as a project manager to get things done and double check work to make sure it's done correctly If you are ok doing extra work, are very patient and have low expectations on responsiveness and are ok asking many times or doing your own research to get things done then Carlos pools might be ok. Also I see other reviews below We had the same issues where certain things would get done quickly. Like we got Excavation dig and finite in a few weeks. Then several months would go by with no communication and no work done on site. I figure they just are very busy as they offer a very low price then ad on extras that make it cost as much as other estimate bids. Overall I think they are too busy with so many projects and have so many cooks in the kitchen with no central over site of jobs. Their sub contractors are good at what they do individually but you have to watch them and keep an eye on the finishes. For instance one sub did damage some to our house I emailed it to Mr Carlos Poools no response. So I just fixed it myself. I didn't want to deal with waiting Also another example is they sent some handyman type guys to fix a leak after many requests. He didn't properly fix leak first time so I inspected it and found that his patchwork just simply fell right off. I aske them again and they did have another handyman come out. He sort of did it incorrectly for proper water sealing where grout was missing and water was leaking. I showed him the way it should be done and he did do it and I hope it won't leak again because I don't want to deal with it. We're incredibly happy with our beautiful pool and receive compliments on it all the time. The final result speaks for itself--and we also found the pricing to be very reasonable compared to other quotes we received during that time. Our project began as a COVID endeavor. Although we signed the contract in August, construction didn't begin until May, with completion in September. We understood that some delays were due to the pandemic and permitting issues with LADBS, but we also felt there were times when the team was stretched too thin with multiple jobs. This occasionally led to communication challenges, some disconnect between the company and their subcontractors and some issues that had to be corrected. That said, we stayed closely involved throughout the process--especially my husband, who made it a point to track progress and help minimize unnecessary delays. And we're glad we did, because the end product is something we're proud of and enjoy every day. We'd also like to give a special thanks to Mike, our project manager, who stepped up when our pool heater broke just a month after the warranty expired. He worked with the manufacturer to get it resolved at a reduced cost, which we really appreciated! I'm starting to get worried there's no activity happening for the past 5 weeks, it is now June 12 and we started the project on Feb. 1st, in March and April they moved quickly but May came and our backyard just looks abandoned we can't even use it! As with all projects you can expect delays and changes when inspectors are involved but all and all the process of each step was fairly quick, painless and any questions concerns were always addressed no matter how trivial they may have been. At times you will feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath and ask questions to ease your mind. Our team was fantastic, David and Jorge were always there to answer questions and I am the type to over think and ask a lot. I am sure I drove them crazy with all the questions I had throughout the whole project. During a project like this it can get hectic with dust and trenches and all that is going on. You might start to feel overwhelmed, you will feel overwhelmed cause everywhere you turn your yard is torn up but rest assured the end result will leave you in awe. The end result is worth all the times you feel like you might go crazy and before you know it you have a beautiful pool and was all worth it! On their website, just fill out the free in home consultation. The same day Bob contacted us and set up an appointment date to see our backyard, give us a quote and explain the whole process. It does take awhile for permits and they do all that for you. Once everything is in order, the crew comes and start working.
